Good value for money! Only a 10 minutes’ drive from Cheddar Gorge. A bit dated but it's understandable as an old hotel. Staff are amazing, super friendly and always available Facilities are super fabs! with gym, sauna, steam and pool. Breakfast is very good value for money with both hot and cold options (buffet) it was our second time there and we will be back again

Decent hotel in need of modernisation. Decent stay considering. Very odd spa facilities with the changing rooms by the pool and having to walk wet in swim wear through reception and over carpet through the gym, very strange. If you're looking a good spa, this isn't it.

The hotel is in a lovely location but it is a bit dated. We used the pool and the steam room. The pool isn't big so you do have to book a slot. There was only 4 beds by the pool and no chairs which meant people were limited if they wanted to relax by the pool. We ate at the hotel and opted for a meal on the bar rather than the restaurant. The menu was better in the bar and it was served very quickly. I had the homemade chicken and leek pie and my husband had the chicken curry. Both were piping hot and delicious. The staff were all very professional and efficient. We were upgraded and had a lovely room. The hotel does need updating but it didn't spoil our stay

An extensive property with charm. Staff all helpful & attentive. We were offered help with our cases, which we gratefully accepted as our room was at a distance from the entrance & up a few flights of stairs - no lift! Food was tasty with a good range of choices.

Handy location for the Mendip hills and Somerset coastline. Superior room was comfortable, though heating could have been better. Pleasant swimming ppoland good gym facilities- though restricted to 30 min sessions,mainly pre-booked. Friendly helpful staff.

Pleasant hotel in scenic area. Staff friendly and helpful. The 'superior' room was nice but bed was very uncomfortable and shower didn't drain properly. Wifi also poor, dropping out constantly - these are basics that are far better in a Premier Inn costing half the price. Was keen on using the leisure facilities but the set-up (you have to walk through the busy gym to reach the sauna from the pool) meant we only used once then gave up as not enjoyable. Quite restricted opening times of sauna/steam room and the need to book pool also felt restrictive. Would be unlikely to stay again.

Overnight stay in Room 117, a bit of a maze to find and a lot of stairs, so if you have any disability, don’t pick that one. Room was clean, comfortable bed, good bathroom facility and quiet. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast and Evening meal had a good selection and was nicely cooked. Made use of the Indoor Pool, which was very clean and attractive, they use a booking system so it doesn’t get overcrowded.

We were disappointed with our rooms. We had an upgrade to a standard room but our friends didn’t and their room was very small. Also there were cobwebs in the room around the ceilings.

The hotel had holes in the bedding actual tears and then the towel were like old rags with 2 holes as big as my head.... breakfast already overdone when we went at 7.30am also no one to greet us at breakfast waited then went to reception..... i did alert the hotel twice to issues they said head office would contact me but they havent....

Friendly welcome. Room was typical chain hotel style, but comfortable. Could have been cleaner (cobwebs in corners, dusty surfaces). Food was OK, service was attentive and friendly. Would stay here again, and maybe take advantage of the leisure facilities.

We booked this last minute because of its location and that it has a pool. All the staff were friendly and welcoming but… when we got to our room there was an awful musky smell, stains on the wall and lamp shade and in need of a refurb(other than the bathroom, which was nice). We didn’t complain as it was only for one night. When going to bed I went to check the windows and found an infestation of wood lice in the spare room(family room), I ignored them and went to bed as my wife hates them so didn’t want to freak her out. The evening meal was also pretty dire, I ordered medium rare steak, it was well done, surely that’s an easy meal for a chef to get right. My wife’s lasagna appeared to be an over microwaved mush! Starters were also pretty poor. We were dreading breakfast but were pleasantly surprised after the poor quality of the evening meal. We used the pool after breakfast which was nice. Overall nice staff but poor quality hotel and food. Needless to say, we won’t be staying again.

Very dated rooms with an uncomfortable bed. Reception staff were lovely, bar staff quite brisk and not very welcoming. There was a wedding being held there on the second day which meant that the restaurant was unavailable and the bar area was full of wedding guests which made us feel like interlopers. Breakfast was nice though!

Went by the pictures on the website and it seemed breathtaking. Set in a wooded area with an attractive terrace (bombarded with the low flying jet engine like hum of the M5 at the bottom of the garden), pleasant lounge and a restaurant serving great food. My room was of a size I had forgotten existed and to use the desk one had to ride side-saddle. It was impossible to sit normally and work on the laptop. The runner across the bed had split at a seam. Other rooms seemed to have easier access desks and appeared somehow more spacious. Sound proofing is dire with phone calls and arguments clearly audible. The bar had a great selection of gin. Gordon's only, although some seemed to have pretty flavours. OK. During the day someone had to be telephoned and summoned to provide a drink or a sandwich. On my first day the sandwich was forgotten about and the drink was poured away before I could enjoy even the smallest of whiffs. I was disappointed in what I found but realize that occasionally these things happen. The restaurant though served really great food although the presentation seemed to vary on a daily basis. Still, the wine was chilled and plentiful so not all was lost.

Staff helpful and helped to improve stay. Bed uncomfortable but mattress topper supplied and sleep much improved. I would not recommend room 110. Constant noise of people in hallway and adjoining rooms. Disturbed both nights of stay by people returning to their rooms. Lovely old building but floors creak and walls thin.I cannot comment on other rooms, could possibly of been a more pleasant stay.

Beautiful building and we had superior room it was very spacious and exceptionally clean, food was good and reasonably priced, and the views from the dining room and bedroom was fantastic

There was an Indian wedding being held when I stayed. It was horrendously noisy with the sound travelling right up to Rm3. The guests were very noisy in the corridors and rooms above too. I'd advise you find out if similar functions are being held before you confirm your stay. The hotel is quite tired and very old fashioned now.

Stayed here for one night and wish it was more. From the moment we arrived the receptionist was so lovely and welcoming it was great. Didn't eat in the restaurant as we were going out but breakfast buffet was lovely and plentiful. Booked a massage in the Spa and Eloise the beautician was amazing, she was so kind and friendly, the massage was wonderful, highly recommend. Over all good stay

The food in the restaurant is superb, the service prompt, friendly and efficient and the rooms comfortable. The hotel is well maintained given the footfall (number of people they can accommodate and the years they have been in business..... Other hotels have something to learn from the Webbington!). Of particular note is the massage I got from Eloise in the Wellbeing Spa. This was the best I have had for years and I have had a lot of massages so recognise an exceptionally skilled masseuse. Thanks Eloise.

We loved our stay at this hotel. It had great facilities and beautiful views but above all, its staff were outstanding. It is rare to find a hotel where there are sufficient staff to provide a consistent service but here, you weren't kept waiting anywhere and every staff member was warm, welcoming, professional and actually cared about your experience. Only negatives was the room décor- dark wood and navy carpet gave a slight dated impression but it was clean and comfortable so really only a very minor thing.

An extensive property with charm. Staff all helpful & attentive. We were offered help with our cases, which we gratefully accepted as our room was at a distance from the entrance & up a few flights of stairs - no lift! Food was tasty with a good range of choices.

Note - if staying for business a lot of the rooms have no mobile signal. Free WiFi is available and is on the whole quick enough. The hotel is dated, I’m sure in its hay day it was a lovely place. On arrival my room smelt of smoke, I mentioned this to reception and was advised to “open the window for a bit”. This didn’t help for the 4 days I was there. One day my room wasn’t cleaned, called reception - were sorry but housekeepers had gone home. Room itself had stains on the carpet, curtains that were hanging off letting in daylight, and pillows that I am convinced were made of card board. I was on my own and used all 4 pillows to get any sort of support. Pool has to be booked so if hoping to jump in after work you need to plan ahead. Breakfast was an odd experience too, quite expensive when compared to similar hotels, buffet style but fried eggs were an “extra” you could order these but they took 10mins to come out meaning all your other food was cold. I shan’t be returning.

Cut short a long drive home and stayed here last minute. Although not the easiest to get to from the M5 the faff was worth it. Very efficient check-in, great amenities and a really comfortable bed. No complaints whatsoever.

The hotel is grand old building, set in established gardens with pleasant views across the Somerset levels. The staff are very pleasant, accomodating and friendly. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable. Thrre is pleanty of free car parking. The hotel is a large historic building and has a rambling assortment of extentions . There are no lifts meaning you have to carry your cases up and fown numerous stairs in and out of buildings and through numerous doors. Our stay coincided with a wedding with noise which disturbed our sleep time.. The shower in our bathroom barely had any water and for an older person, was dangerous for difficult to access. This hotel location is amazing. Located on a hilltop with an amazing view. The staff were very caring and helpful and even walked me to my room after I couldn’t find it. Yeah it’s a little difficult but once found…… The breakfast is worth every penny. Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and the hotel is clean (even smells clean!) FREE parking. Not greedy enough to charge like other hotels. Just a very nice place and location.

Very dated rooms with an uncomfortable bed. Reception staff were lovely, bar staff quite brisk and not very welcoming. There was a wedding being held there on the second day which meant that the restaurant was unavailable and the bar area was full of wedding guests which made us feel like interlopers. Dont let the tired look of this hotel put you off, the staff more than make up for it. From the young lady on the front desk who was really cheerful, happy and very helpful, she immediately made us feel valued and welcome. We were in Room 111, I wouldn't call it a Superior room, but it was adequate for our needs. The menu was limited and the on duty manager explained this was due to only 1 chef, but the food was very, very good. The views from the veranda are amazing, spoilt only slightly by the traffic on the M5. Loads of parking but the Hotel could really do with a bit of TLC.

Second time staying for a quick 2 night break away. Breakfast is excellent. The last room in main house was better than the latest one in the annexe. The bed wasn't particularly comfy and we both had backache but what I find too soft someone else will find ok. We love cycling the Strawberry line nearby and the local Thai restaurant in Cheddar is a must! Pool water is clean and clear... would we stay again...Yes.

The hotel is in a lovely location but it is a bit dated. We used the pool and the steam room. The pool isn't big so you do have to book a slot. There was only 4 beds by the pool and no chairs which meant people were limited if they wanted to relax by the pool. We ate at the hotel and opted for a meal on the bar rather than the restaurant. The menu was better in the bar and it was served very quickly. I had the homemade chicken and leek pie and my husband had the chicken curry. Both were piping hot and delicious. The staff were all very professional and efficient. We were upgraded and had a lovely room. The hotel does need updating but it didn't spoil our stay

Overnight stay in Room 117, a bit of a maze to find and a lot of stairs, so if you have any disability, don’t pick that one. Room was clean, comfortable bed, good bathroom facility and quiet. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast and Evening meal had a good selection and was nicely cooked. Made use of the Indoor Pool, which was very clean and attractive, they use a booking system so it doesn’t get overcrowded.

Two rooms were booked, both standard twin only to be told when we got there that the booking was for two single rooms and I’d have to take the matter up with Expedia. After showing the booking on my phone the hotel met me halfway and gave me one twin, which my mum took and I had what can only be described as a box room. I’ve never stayed in such a tiny room, I had two steps to the door and four to the bathroom. The bed was one of the worse beds I’ve ever slept in. Don’t go by the photos on the web site, those are premium rooms, the rooms I booked were tried and dated. The reception team were nice as was the manager. The cleaning of the rooms was poor to the point were we both did it ourselves. On our second night the power went out in the whole hotel for about an hour without any explanation. The breakfast is quite good and the choice was good, again the service in the restraint was poor. Overall I was disappointed with my stay and probably wouldn’t book a great western hotel again.

Old listed building with old rooms... it is a classic "charming" hotel... which means, a bit old, a bit tired.. The room was basic and comfortable. The gym is good but the pool has to be prebooked which is not helpful. Was not told the restaurant closed at 08.30 so did not eat, which made me grumpy!
