The staff were great but a few things not available eg red wine and draft beer. Room a little tired and very warm even with the window wide open and no heating on. Enjoyed the stay as the forest is only a few steps from the door. Would stay again and hope the niggles are straightened out.

Staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful, but there is a lot that needs improvement at Forest Lodge. I responded to the check in email by phone, the receptionist asked for our breakfast time preference. On arrival at the hotel we still had to wait in a queue and give all our details. I was asked about breakfast booking and dinner which I had already done. On the booking form I asked for two extra pillows, these weren’t supplied. The room was nice but the bathroom was in need of a makeover, tired and tatty, the water took ages to drain from the sink, loose toilet roll holder, corroded toilet flush handle, grotty white nylon shower curtain. The phone was dirty and needed a good clean with antibacterial wipes, also I couldn’t ring down to reception and had to unplug the phone at 3am as it was beeping incessantly even though the receiver was firmly on the hook. Went down to breakfast at our 9.30am booking, we were left waiting for five minutes, the couple in front of us were finally shown to a table but we were ignored. Another few minutes later we were told that there wasn’t a table for us yet, I said that we had booked for 9.30am this is unacceptable in a four star hotel, I have never encountered this before. We were asked to wait in the bar area for a further five minutes. Pointless to have time slots if they overbook. No bottled water to buy for going out. Bar poorly stocked, whisky served in a cheap thick glass, stingy vegetarian breakfast, won’t go back.

Lovely hotel and perfect for anyone wanting a break in the beautiful New Forest. Pool didn’t have any loungers to chill out and it was a bit shabby but wasn’t why we booked the hotel so that was fine. Room was great. Could connect to our Netflix account and the big bed was so comfy! Really lovely helpful staff too

Disappointing. My expectations were higher based on the scores. They only could serve pizza at dinner, so not a restaurant. And they failed to tell me there was a pub 100m away that served food. Walls were thinnsh, i had noisy neighbours and had to get reception to ask them to be quiet. Adjacent plumbing noises also went right though the room. Staff friendly and place was clean, and the room was comfortable.

Hi, We stayed at this hotel for one night prior to going on a cruise from Southampton and being midlanders we wanted to do the lion share of the journey the day before departure so we choose this reasonably priced hotel. We had a family room which catered for 2 adults and 2 kids (11 & 9). Room ws fine. Clean and ample size. The kids beds are bunks tucked nearly in the corner. We didnt wat in the hotel or book breakfast as we were checked out early the next morning but we did eat tea at the 2 minute walk Waterloo Inn (decent pub grub). Upon our return from food we went in the pool. This is fine but there was nowhere for parents/guardians to sit and watch the kids should they not want to get wet. Seating innthe pool.area could be better. As could a repair job on the sauna and shower. All in all though this was a pleasant night stay with friendly staff and convenient to Southampton docks (20 mins)..

Hotel is nice but would say it was 4/5 star - rooms were nice and clean and had everything you needed! Pool was quiet but not that warm. Sauna was out of order. Food was bland and service wasn't great. It's expensive for food and drink and not worth the price - we also didn't realise gratuity was automatically added and so paid over £20 in tip for a meal for 2 adults and 2 children (we are in the bar so wasn't table service). Our key stopped working when we returned from food and it took over 30 minutes to find someone to rectify the issue which wasn't great with 2 small tired children.

The staff were very friendly, apologising for the lack of pool. The breakfast took far too long, (perhaps a buffet style hot breakfast would be more appropriate.) The sink was in need of repair.(infection control)

Good size room with four poster bed and view over the courtyard. Plenty of hanging space. Decent size indoor swimming pool. Changing Rooms very hot, so went back to our room to shower.

Location is superb. Only half of the beds were made after our first night. THe cleaners didnt remove empty milk packets. The swimming pool was very cold. The sauna was filthy and not working and probably not even safe yet the door was open. Breakfast mediocre. The location made up for it and we enjoyed our mini break.

My partner and I booked this hotel for a single night trip for my birthday in order to recharge in the country for a while and get away from the city, and unfortunately we left feeling like the hotel was the worst part of my birthday. Having stayed in other hotels by this local chain before we had high hopes that the hotel would be organised, clean and a well needed break for the night, and a spot we could go to to go for a swim, relax and just enjoy the location. The main area of the hotel is clean and well presented, so we were initially impressed, and the receptionist was helpful with advising where everything was and what we needed. Very quickly after arriving at the hotel we decided to go for a swim, and upon getting back to our room post-swim we realised our shower had no running hot water. This took 3 trips to reception to resolve and the keys we were given to other rooms didn’t work - when resolved the room was moldy, dirty, the carpet hadn’t been hoovered, the bathroom backsplash was half missing, and the paint everywhere was filthy. On top of all of this the communication was terrible and meant that we were rudely awoken at 8am with the cleaning team accessing our room, clearly not advised we had been moved. The experience completely ruined the birthday celebrations and given how lovely the other hotels in the chain are we were deeply disappointed.

Lady on reception was excellent, friendly and efficient. Room was quite a good size and bed comfortable. We had water and tea making facilities but there wasn't enough toiletries for two people. Also bedside tables needed a deep clean. Our door also didnt close we had to pull it which then made a loud bang. We also heard several other doors banging loudly. Good location to walk into town and visit New Forest.

This is a great location for walking into Lyndhurst. Lovely staff and the room was clean. However, I do not like a shower curtain and the shower water pressure could do with a boost. We thought £16.50 was a bit steep for breakfast so went to a local cafe instead.

The hotel itself it’s nice and comfortable. Close enough to new forest show and lyndhurst is a great town.however I think we were placed in the smallest room and the hottest room. I know it was a hot few days but the fans provided were old and not good enough and the room was just too hot. We didn’t sleep properly for 3 nights which is a shame. The bed was a very small Double and one of us had to sleep On the floor because it was just too small for 2 adults . I normally stay here a lot throughout the year but not sure if I will again.

Overall, this was a nice place to stay. I had Room 10 and unfortunately there was something dripping outside the window the whole time though, which woke me up a few times in the night. The room decor could do with an update/redecoration. The bathroom too. But it was ok for what I needed. It would have been nice to see a Bar Menu out somewhere to know what food was available. Any staff I encountered were great. Thank you!

The staff were all lovely. Our bedroom was in need of an upgrade. The bathroom looked tired and our double bed was 2 singles together and ridiculously soft.

Disappointing. My expectations were higher based on the scores. They only could serve pizza at dinner, so not a restaurant. And they failed to tell me there was a pub 100m away that served food. Walls were thinnsh, i had noisy neighbours and had to get reception to ask them to be quiet. Adjacent plumbing noises also went right though the room. Staff friendly and place was clean, and the room was comfortable.

Booked the hotel on the strength of the pool which was out of use for the duration. The four poster bed was great but the room was small and had no fridge facilities. The staff were very friendly, apologising for the lack of pool. The breakfast took far too long, (perhaps a buffet style hot breakfast would be more appropriate.) The sink was in need of repair.(infection control)

Good size room with four poster bed and view over the courtyard. Plenty of hanging space. Decent size indoor swimming pool. Changing Rooms very hot, so went back to our room to shower.

Lovely hotel. Great pool and the front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. We got the 5 of us in the room and still lots of space. Was very warm though and no air-conditioning. But we all slept well. Restaurant was a bit expensive but Lyndhurst centre was just a short walk to a wider range of restaurants and cafes.

Unfortunately, another property of this company in dire need of upgrade / tlc. Extensive peeling paint in bathrooms, worn carpeting. Door locks that failed every day (magnetic cards). Modernizing and general maintenance/ upkeep recommended. Comfortable rooms though and nice pool. Didn’t make up for the overall experience. They could do so much more at their properties if they tried. And no flexibility on check in - despite room being ready, there wasn’t the staff to check them. So rigid 3pm check in regardless. A negative in customer service. Will look elsewhere, smaller boutique hotels on my next visit.

Staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful, but there is a lot that needs improvement at Forest Lodge. I responded to the check in email by phone, the receptionist asked for our breakfast time preference. On arrival at the hotel we still had to wait in a queue and give all our details. I was asked about breakfast booking and dinner which I had already done. On the booking form I asked for two extra pillows, these weren’t supplied. The room was nice but the bathroom was in need of a makeover, tired and tatty, the water took ages to drain from the sink, loose toilet roll holder, corroded toilet flush handle, grotty white nylon shower curtain. The phone was dirty and needed a good clean with antibacterial wipes, also I couldn’t ring down to reception and had to unplug the phone at 3am as it was beeping incessantly even though the receiver was firmly on the hook. Went down to breakfast at our 9.30am booking, we were left waiting for five minutes, the couple in front of us were finally shown to a table but we were ignored. Another few minutes later we were told that there wasn’t a table for us yet, I said that we had booked for 9.30am this is unacceptable in a four star hotel, I have never encountered this before. We were asked to wait in the bar area for a further five minutes. Pointless to have time slots if they overbook. No bottled water to buy for going out. Bar poorly stocked, whisky served in a cheap thick glass, stingy vegetarian breakfast, won’t go back.

Staff were great. Particularly one member of staff who was on reception when we arrived, in the bar when we came back later that night and then back on reception first thing in the morning. I cant recall her name but she was very helpful, extremely personable and a credit to the hotel.

Hotel is nice but would say it was 4/5 star - rooms were nice and clean and had everything you needed! Pool was quiet but not that warm. Sauna was out of order. Food was bland and service wasn't great. It's expensive for food and drink and not worth the price - we also didn't realise gratuity was automatically added and so paid over £20 in tip for a meal for 2 adults and 2 children (we are in the bar so wasn't table service). Our key stopped working when we returned from food and it took over 30 minutes to find someone to rectify the issue which wasn't great with 2 small tired children.

My partner and I booked this hotel for a single night trip for my birthday in order to recharge in the country for a while and get away from the city, and unfortunately we left feeling like the hotel was the worst part of my birthday. Having stayed in other hotels by this local chain before we had high hopes that the hotel would be organised, clean and a well needed break for the night, and a spot we could go to to go for a swim, relax and just enjoy the location. The main area of the hotel is clean and well presented, so we were initially impressed, and the receptionist was helpful with advising where everything was and what we needed. Very quickly after arriving at the hotel we decided to go for a swim, and upon getting back to our room post-swim we realised our shower had no running hot water. This took 3 trips to reception to resolve and the keys we were given to other rooms didn’t work - when resolved the room was moldy, dirty, the carpet hadn’t been hoovered, the bathroom backsplash was half missing, and the paint everywhere was filthy. On top of all of this the communication was terrible and meant that we were rudely awoken at 8am with the cleaning team accessing our room, clearly not advised we had been moved. The experience completely ruined the birthday celebrations and given how lovely the other hotels in the chain are we were deeply disappointed.

Massively understaffed. Waited 20 mins at front desk for because the person manning the bar was having to do everything. Kitchen closed at 8:30pm despite advertising 24h room service, presumably due to staff shortages again. They need a maintenance person on staff to take care of damaged walls, broken extractor fans, dodgy lightbulbs etc. Lots of little issues that detract from an otherwise pleasant property.

What a refreshing change. Wonderful, helpful, welcoming staff. It was such a pleasure to stay here and we would definitely go back! Some more lighting out on the patio would be good but just a small Observation, it didn’t impact our stay.

I like the friendly, helpful staff, the ambience, and the location which is quiet but very close to the centre of Lyndhurst. I've now been three times and intend to go again. It would be good if they added a cheaper continental breakfast as well as the full breakfast menu.

Really lovely hotel and a great stay, would love to return. Fantasic location, walking distance to the lovely high street and central to everything the New Forest has to offer. Rooms are lovely and a good size, bedding lovely, mattresses could pos be a bit comfier, not too bad though. Only negative really was changing rooms by pool werent great, main one closed and other was family changing room, no lock and toilet clearly hadnt been working or cleaned, wasnt in keeping with the great quality of everything else at the hotel. Pool itself was really lovely though so after first time we just changed in our rooms.

The hotel is in a convenient location, within easy walking distance to the village centre. Excellent pool (but the changing rooms could have been checked a bit more often, as the shampoo/body wash dispenser was empty, and there were some tissues on the floor). Very friendly and helpful staff. Liked the option of asking for fresh milk for our room. Good breakfast, with an excellent continental buffet available and hot meal options cooked to order.

Lovely quiet hotel with friendly staff and a lovely pool, which our 4 year old really enjoyed. So nice for us at a family not being restricted to certain times to use the pool too. Great location for visiting lots of fabuloys places in the area & less than a 15 min drive to Peppa Pig World.

One night stay in executive suite. Friendly staff. Bed comfy, dated bathroom needing some decorating, pool a bit chilly for our liking, breakfast wasn’t included so quite pricey overall, no free range eggs but there was an alternative vegetarian option, good location for Beauleau visit and easy parking. Nice pub next door for dinner.

Stayed for one night as a little stop over on way to Cornwall with our young Labrador. The hotel is really lovely and super dog friendly with welcome treats and a little pup pack of goodies in the room. The staff made such a fuss of Zoey dog. Really lovely people. We took a 5 minute stroll into the village for a walk and dinner at a pub. The location is perfect. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the bar terrace but there were no noise issues. Next morning I took advantage of the hotel pool for 30 mins which I had all to myself. Breakfast was delicious!

Nothing not to like. Reception staff friendly and efficient. Michelle was really chatty and helpful. Great receptionist and bar tender 😆 Breakfast was excellent well cooked and tasty. Pool was clean and enjoyed a lovely swim. Would highly recommend this hotel

The staff were great but a few things not available eg red wine and draft beer. Room a little tired and very warm even with the window wide open and no heating on. Enjoyed the stay as the forest is only a few steps from the door. Would stay again and hope the niggles are straightened out.

We were asked to wait in the bar area for a further five minutes. Pointless to have time slots if they overbook. No bottled water to buy for going out. Bar poorly stocked, whisky served in a cheap thick glass, stingy vegetarian breakfast, won’t go back.
Staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful, but there is a lot that needs improvement at Forest Lodge. I responded to the check in email by phone, the receptionist asked for our breakfast time preference. On arrival at the hotel we still had to wait in a queue and give all our details. I was asked about breakfast booking and dinner which I had already done. On the booking form I asked for two extra pillows, these weren’t supplied. The room was nice but the bathroom was in need of a makeover, tired and tatty, the water took ages to drain from the sink, loose toilet roll holder, corroded toilet flush handle, grotty white nylon shower curtain. The phone was dirty and needed a good clean with antibacterial wipes, also I couldn’t ring down to reception and had to unplug the phone at 3am as it was beeping incessantly even though the receiver was firmly on the hook. Went down to breakfast at our 9.30am booking, we were left waiting for five minutes, the couple in front of us were finally shown to a table but we were ignored. Disappointing. My expectations were higher based on the scores. They only could serve pizza at dinner, so not a restaurant. And they failed to tell me there was a pub 100m away that served food. Walls were thinnsh, i had noisy neighbours and had to get reception to ask them to be quiet. Adjacent plumbing noises also went right though the room. Staff friendly and place was clean, and the room was comfortable.

Hotel is nice but would say it was 4/5 star - rooms were nice and clean and had everything you needed! Pool was quiet but not that warm. Sauna was out of order. Food was bland and service wasn't great. It's expensive for food and drink and not worth the price - we also didn't realise gratuity was automatically added and so paid over £20 in tip for a meal for 2 adults and 2 children (we are in the bar so wasn't table service). Our key stopped working when we returned from food and it took over 30 minutes to find someone to rectify the issue which wasn't great with 2 small tired children.

Room was clean, but there was no room service for example, no bed making (which is not a problem) no emptying of bins and no replacement of toilet rolls. The stair carpet was worn in places. For the price we paid for 3 nights it was expensive. A nice choice of breakfast continental or cooked, (you had to pay extra for this) Staff were friendly and parking okay.

We booked a family room without breakfast with our two 15 week old babies who have spent the first part of there lifes in a special breathing unit. Room 6 is the smallest family room we have ever stayed in. It wasn't till the morning when we went to have a shower that the shower head nearly exploded and came off. Water going sideways instead of firing forward like most shower heads. Soaked the room and everything in the bathroom including all my wife's clothes for the day. The shower was fixed by the maintenance man however this was during our they at around 9am. We then checked the rest of the room out I took video footage of the amount of dust on top of the wardrobe when you rub your finger along it and there is a built up of dust either side of your finger isn't good. There was also damp on the wall above the bed which the hotel manager said was not dame it was from a vacuum cleaner head while trying to get cobwebs from the ceiling. Rubbish. A vacuum cleaner doesn't leave marks on the wall that upu can wipe off with a cloth. We decided to book breakfast and was disappointed from the start. £10 for a continental or £20 with a cooked breakfast one. If upu wanted a better coffee ie a cappuccino it was £3.80 extra. We both had the full English the sausages were not cooked properly and were pink in the middle. The eggs whites were still runny so also wasn't cooked. When arranged to talk to manager who starts work at 10am he was apparently too busy at a meeting. 2 Stars

The electric shower was leaking water so we couldn't have a shower as we were too worried we would be electrocuted. Tried to mention it but no one seemed to be interested. The room was stifling and they gave us a clapped out old fan which only worked when it decided to work. For the price we paid and the quality I wouldn't stay again as I could get better in the area for the price we paid and I did.

Everything was clean, hotel in general tired. Staff helpful including cleaning staff. Only had 1 main meal which needed a lot to be desired Breakfast good manager really helpful & friendly. There quite a few niggles which we reported to manager who gave us a bottle of wine in recompense

Good location, 2 pubs very near and a 5 minute walk to Lyndhurst. Could have been a bit cleaner (only a couple of cobwebs on a light fitting nothing serious or off putting) but good for a reasonably priced Hotel. Reception friendly and helpful. We will go there again. P.S. Its very dog friendly.
