The hotel is in a great location and approach is lovely. Spa was well appointed. I accept it is an old building but it is in need to repair and updating. Carpets worn, lift out of order and no chance for disabled access to our room without walking up 3 flights of stairs. The presentation and quality of food in the evening was exceptional, however the service was extremely slow. Breakfast was speedier, however the order was delivered wrong and the food was obviously pre-cooked as it was dry and touch. Shame.

We really enjoyed the hotel building, history and facilities. Staff excellent and ambiance great. Very relaxing environment with super spacious traditional room in clock tower. Breakfast excellent with prompt and attentive service. Walks around the grounds very enjoyable. Spa faciltiies looked good but not enough time on this occasion. Will return.

We had a wonderful stay….we were very fortunate to have been given an upgrade. The room was beautifully decorated, with a lovely stand alone bath. We really enjoyed visiting the spa, and the grounds were so pretty. The staff were kind and helpful. We always love visiting here! Thank you.

Beautiful grounds, and Spa facilities, (particularly the pool) were excellent. Food available on the terrace outside of the pool. Evening meal in the restaurant was very nice, but expensive. Food; breakfast lunch, dinner all superbly cooked and presented. All the staff were very pleasant and attentive.

Its a beautiful and the rooms and facilities are really good. The spa facilities are very nice. The only issue was that the lift was not working at the time and we were on the top floor, which was a bit of a struggle for my wife who had a bad knee.

Had a really lovely stay at the hotel, staff were great. Grounds are lovely. We didn’t eat at the hotel. The communal areas were all well kept and everything was clean. The spa and pool area was lovely with towels, robes and slippers provided. We stayed in a classic room which was clean and the bed was comfy. A little tired though. Overall a great stay and would stay again. Thanks

We had 2 nights in this very beautiful traditional hotel. Our room was spacious, if a little tired. We arrived a little early and was told our room would be ready at 3. We got the impression that even if our room had been ready, we would not have got the key until 3. The lift is broken and it was quite a hike to our room. The corridors, as you might expect in an old hotel are confusing and there is a distinct lack of signage. The toilet in our room did not flush properly- we had to pour kettles of water down it to clear it. We reported it and although I think it had been looked at, it still didn’t work properly. On the first morning, when we returned to the room, the only indication the maid had been was the folded toilet paper. Dirty cups left and not replaced, bed looked partially made etc. we reported this also to reception, but it was not rectified. Breakfast was terrible. Excellent choice of food, but it had been left so long before being delivered, it was cold and congealed. The server took the cost of our bill. Spa was good and the pool was quiet for my early morning swim. The hotel and grounds are very lovely, but they need more staff, some upgrades and an injection of atmosphere.

A middling country house estate that doesn't quite hit the mark. Rooms could do with a facelift (mould and peeling paint in bathroom, lack of PowerPoints in convenient places, scratched furniture and springy bed). Service was ok, but lacked a luxury touch. The spa facilities were the highlight, but even this was a bit dated. Decided not to spend any further money with food and beverage at the property, instead making the short hop into Marlow.

This used to be a beautiful hotel that we recommended but is now very tired and clearly struggling due to going into administration in 2022 and acquired by Danesfield Hotel and Resorts Ltd. We booked a Deluxe room that should have had a Four Poster bed or Access to Terrace - Room 308 has neither. (It does have a Half Tester Headboard which is not a 4 Poster). There is no lift as it doesn't work, when I asked how long it had been out of order I was told 3 years! We were on the 2nd/3rd floor (or 2.5 flights of stairs) so whilst I embrace exercise this was not appreciated after my room neither had a 4 poster bed or Terrace Access. The reason we booked was for a wedding anniversary as we got married at Danesfield House. We are repeat customers and have stayed many times before. Sadly this will most likely be our last stay until the hotel has undergone some serious repair & maintenance. The staff were polite but not many around and you can tell the hotel has undergone serious cost cutting exercises so its no longer a luxury hotel. Such a shame as it could be amazing if initiative was applied and tweaks were made which wouldn't cost that much if anything. The food was OK, however, we Paid for an Afternoon Tea/Picnic with a bottle of Champagne and was given a bottle of English Sparkling wine... Definitely not Champagne as advised so this was very misleading as was our room and scrimping on costs. LOYAL RETURNING CUSTOMERS LOST AND WILL NO LONGER RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS

Where to star with this beautiful property? We were blown away by how stunning this building is and how conscienciously it has been maintained to retain the history of the property. We had a wonderful time exploring the grounds after check-in, and managed to have enough time to enjoy a swim, jacuzzi, and sauna before heading to an event close by in the evening. We enjoyed a cocktail in the bar when we returned and the staff made my husband one 'off menu'. We only had breakfast at the hotel (in terms of dining) and it was in the most beautiful room. The eggs royale were excellent (eggs perfectly poached!) and the view was stunning. The only fault I found in the whole experience was flexes of a brown substance (😬) on the flexible showerhead attached to the bathtub in the room. That was disappointing, but otherwise the room was immaculate. It was one of (if not) the best hotel stays we've every had, and I was so impressed with the hotel, grounds and service, we've recommended it to so many people already. Run don't walk to the property! Phenomenal!

We just spent 3 nights at Danesfield House as we were ending our UK trip and waiting for our flight home from Heathrow. This turned out to be the best part of our whole trip! It is an absolutely gorgeous property. We enjoyed a fabulous breakfast, and I do mean fabulous, every morning. The view from the restaurant and terrace is breathtaking. Our room was beautiful, and spotless, full of charm, but with modern amenities ( a beautiful bathroom). If you choose to stay here, you will not be disappointed !!

The grounds are outstanding, however feels a bit like it is set up more for weddings than guests. Rooms are a bit shabby now, bathrooms poor for the cost. Spa facilities are good however again run down and shabby bathrooms and showers etc. Rooms would need a complete refurb. Beautiful gardens so would recommend for a day trip

It’s a beautiful property. Having said that, there are rooms that get insanely hot, with no air conditioning and my bedroom had one window only. I was literally dripping with sweat until the room finally started cooling off around 11pm. Only cool enough for sleep at 1am. I raised this with management shortly after arriving and was told that there was nothing they could do about external factors such as heat. There was a fan but blowing hot air around the room really wasn’t helping.

The Hotel has fabulous grounds and a spa. The hotel is looking dated in certain places and the dorma window in our room did not work. This was a real pain as it was very hot when we stayed at the hotel. The food we had in the restaurant for dinner was delicious. We did not have breakfast there as paying over £30 for breakfast just seemed over the top.

The superior room was sublime. Spacious, huge bed and a big bathtub in the actual bedroom for a splash of luxury. Staff were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.

Lovely stay for my partners birthdays. The check in process was smooth and welcoming. Our room was lovely and had everything you need. The spa was beautiful and relaxing as were the grounds. Whilst we only ate at the hotel at breakfast the food was exquisite and plenty of choice.

This used to be a beautiful hotel that we recommended but is now very tired and clearly struggling due to going into administration in 2022 and acquired by Danesfield Hotel and Resorts Ltd. We booked a Deluxe room that should have had a Four Poster bed or Access to Terrace - Room 308 has neither. (It does have a Half Tester Headboard which is not a 4 Poster). There is no lift as it doesn't work, when I asked how long it had been out of order I was told 3 years! We were on the 2nd/3rd floor (or 2.5 flights of stairs) so whilst I embrace exercise this was not appreciated after my room neither had a 4 poster bed or Terrace Access. The reason we booked was for a wedding anniversary as we got married at Danesfield House. We are repeat customers and have stayed many times before. Sadly this will most likely be our last stay until the hotel has undergone some serious repair & maintenance. The staff were polite but not many around and you can tell the hotel has undergone serious cost cutting exercises so its no longer a luxury hotel. Such a shame as it could be amazing if initiative was applied and tweaks were made which wouldn't cost that much if anything. We had a lovely stay here a few months ago and had a lovely room overlooking the gardens . Therefore we were really looking forward to this visit especially as it is so close to Christmas. This time , first room we were given had the tiniest window, the room looked tired and we felt claustrophobic. It was near the spa end of the building and we felt like we were in a different hotel! We asked to be moved, initially at extra cost to us but eventually they agreed to move us at no extra expense to us . This time the room was in the courtyard. The room was better and had large windows overlooking the front gardens and carpark which was a massive improvement from previous room . Staff were helpful and polite, However we will be staying elsewhere next time we are back in Marlow .

Receptionist didn’t want us to check in at before 3pm. He suggested we go and get a cocktail in the bar whilst we waited for the room. His colleague confirmed room ready two mins later when my wife asked again. Asked receptionist how to turn heating down on entering stifling hot room. After he couldn’t make it come down any further he suggested we opened the windows. We did and the handle fell on in our hands. On 3rd floor, lift not working. No coffee or tea in room. Receptionist brought straight away. Told house wine in the bar by a very pleasant colleague was a Rioja at £44 to find out later it was actually a Tempranillo at £29. Already enjoyed the bottle. Room was spectacular on arrival except for heat, we had to leave windows open ajar overnight. The smoke detector on the ceiling over the bed decided to flash white for a period overnight. The window blind fell off around 3am which I put back up the best I could. Not the best nights sleep. Service at breakfast was disappoint andnot a pleasurable experience. The full English cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious with fresh quality ingredients. However we asked for more toast to go with the breakfast but it didn’t arrive after 10 mins so we reordered. You could see that after a certain time it was all about clearing not serving which was a shame. Made the Reception Manager aware following morning of all the issues before breakfast. The spa was very relaxing with very friendly colleagues. Totally different experience.

The hotel is in a great location and approach is lovely. Spa was well appointed. I accept it is an old building but it is in need to repair and updating. Carpets worn, lift out of order and no chance for disabled access to our room without walking up 3 flights of stairs. The presentation and quality of food in the evening was exceptional, however the service was extremely slow. Breakfast was speedier, however the order was delivered wrong and the food was obviously pre-cooked as it was dry and touch. Shame.

Areas of the hotel looked tired. Breakfast service somewhat chaotic, and surprised to be told what time we were having breakfast (0830 on Sunday!). Plates were cold, so dinner on Friday night and breakfast Sat/Sun were cold. The tuna starter wasn't particularly fresh. Staff were helpful throughout; but areas seemed to lack customer focus - stood for several minutes at the Spa reception whilst 3 staff continued their conversation and didn't even acknowledge us. The treatments (which were excellent) started several minutes late but annoyingly finished promptly.

Very lovely stay to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. It’s my second time being here. They kindly upgraded our room and the service from front desk to spa and breakfast is all to a very high standard. Polite, warm and efficient even at busy hours. We requested ground floor room and soya milk. The courtesy call confirmed our request. I rang again to say we didn’t want dinner and at that time, they confirmed ground floor room. Upon arriving, the receptionist looked at our request and said they have no ground floor rooms left . I explained that we both have knee problems and cannot manage the stairs. My friend who accompanied me had had knee injections few days before and her knee pain was worse than me. The receptionist then informed us that there was a disabled room. We explained we were not disabled but that cannot manage too many stairs. She then reassured us that there were only 6/7 steps to the ground floor and the access to spa was across the bridge on that floor. On that information, we accepted the 1st floor , thinking we will slowly manage to climb the 6/7 on the 1st floor. On the 2nd day, heading to the spa, we realised the only way was via 25/30 steps!!!! We went back and went through reception and outside with little rain in our house slippers and bathrob. In the spa, I asked for a latte with soya milk . To my shock ! They did not have any and the staff would not go to get the milk from the restaurant! I eventually had a black coffee with very little soya milk which managed to find. After finishing spa , we tried coming back through the stairs, but my friend had to give up as her knee was in agony . She very reluctantly came through the reception in the pouring rain with her slippers/robe robe

thoroughly enjoyed our 1 night stay at The Danesfield The Spa was exceptional and all the staff friendly and worked hard clearing dirty towels and replacing to keep the area clean. However we found the housekeeping team to be the complete opposite, ignoring the do not disturb and after specifically telling the staff we would not be leaving till 11 am they let themselves into our room without knocking on the door and returned again 10 mins later while we were changing repeating even though it was 10.30am..no apology and leaving vacuum and cleaning trolley outside our door in a narrow corridor.

The hotel and services were excellent and the grounds and scenery were stunning - beautiful views every where you looked, . The staff were brilliant, extremely pleasant - very attentive and personal. We experienced a slight miscommunication between the hotel and spa on our last day, but the staff at the spa did their best to accommodate. Would highly recommend both hotel and spa for a relaxing break.

Lovely old building, very interesting design, beautiful large hall inside with wood beams. Nice gardens to stroll around. The main restaurant food was great, & the bar area is very cosy. Lots of lovely cocktails to choose from. Fantastic view of the river Thames (although no walkable direct path down to it).

Beautiful hotel, great surroundings and close to lovely town, Marlow. Staff were really nice, nothing was too much trouble. Super room with giant bed, although the duvet was very thin. They provided an extra duvet when asked though. Access to a balcony via really old door in the lovely bathroom. Breakfast was fab and the evening meal was very nice. The complimentary glass of bubbly was a super touch, when I told them it was my partner's birthday. Great pool, with jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms. Couples massage was super, although not cheap. Really relaxing 2 day stay!

We just spent 3 nights at Danesfield House as we were ending our UK trip and waiting for our flight home from Heathrow. This turned out to be the best part of our whole trip! It is an absolutely gorgeous property. We enjoyed a fabulous breakfast, and I do mean fabulous, every morning. The view from the restaurant and terrace is breathtaking. Our room was beautiful, and spotless, full of charm, but with modern amenities ( a beautiful bathroom). If you choose to stay here, you will not be disappointed !!

Wonderful room (which we would like to stay in again) and the only tiny niggle was a poorly flushing toilet, which perhaps just reflects older plumbing arrangements. Great spa and, having stayed several times before, we noticed that the restaurant, which had always been good, seemed to have stepped up a notch into fine dining. We really enjoyed the meals, including the breakfasts, with great service from the restaurant staff. The grounds are always a pleasure to explore and not least this time in excellent April weather. Danesfield House never seems to disappoint!

Room was lovely and hotel was also lovely. Gardens were great, we really enjoyed walking round them. Spa was nice and pool a great size. Only negative was breakfast arrived a little cold on both days, maybe heating the plates should be considered. Lunch and evening meals were very good. We will definitely go back.

The hotel was very nice, staff were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and the hotel was decorated for Christmas in a very tasteful way. The building and gardens were exceptional. The only 2 very slight negatives were no Electric charging points for EVs (they did offer to park round the back and plug in via 13amp plug) and the drinks were a a little on the pricey side but why do you expect from a high end hotel!

Beautiful grounds, and Spa facilities, (particularly the pool) were excellent. Food available on the terrace outside of the pool. Evening meal in the restaurant was very nice, but expensive. Food; breakfast lunch, dinner all superbly cooked and presented. All the staff were very pleasant and attentive.

Room are a but tired and not many have aircon. Also there was no working lift. Lovely old manor house though and staff are great.

Faded grandeur in need of major and expensive repairs & updates. The lift has been out of action for 6 years and so accessibility will be an issue for some guests and we had to climb to the 3rd floor- it was worth it for the fantastic river and garden views. The carpet was extremely thread bare across most of the room, with one area just a hole. The food is very good and staff are helpful, but when paying £320+ a night for deluxe room, I was expecting the rooms to be of a much higher standard. The history of this hotel is interesting.

Hotel was very nice. Unfortunately there was a pretty rowdy wedding happening there the night we stayed, with a lot of wedding guests banging in and out of rooms and playing music through the night. Not fault of hotel per se, but did rather dent the relaxing weekend break experience that hoped for.

Fantastic hotel! Staff very welcoming and nothing was too much bother. We had an issue with our bathroom which needed maintenance so we had to switch rooms but staff dealt with it efficiently and couldn’t be any more apologetic. A bonus as the new room had air conditioning 😉 Would definitely go back!
