Excellent location, golf course and health suite as well. Need a bit of improvement in the breakfast buffet. Not much variety especially when I compare it with the one from Middle east. The swimming pool is a bit dark, would have been better if they can make it more bright either using the lights or some other means.

We recently stayed for one night as a family with two young children and the hotel were very welcoming and accommodating, however I’d say most of the guests are adults on spa and golf weekends. They were really great at providing crayons and drawing at breakfast and one lady was very friendly to my two little ones. The swimming pool was shut during our stay which was a shame because I’d booked it his hotel especially as it had a pool and I wasn’t made aware until after I’d already booked with no cancellation option, but we still had a great stay anyway. Beds were comfortable and we loved the two double bed set up. Great location for exploring around the area too.

Hotel ground etc are lovely. Lots of amenities. Room was abit dated but clean enough. Shower was poor really. Food really nice but quite expensive. Breakfast was fantastic self serve hot and cold buffet. I used the gym which is abit dated but did the job and the sauna which was great.

Beautiful looking hotel with plenty of space and facilities, very friendly and helpful staff. Great choice of eating places, breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Our 8 year old grandson loved the indoor swimming pool and we all had a fabulous stay.

Room was ok, good bed and pillows. Rubbish left in the drawers. Incredibly noisy extractor fan in the bathroom, and no soft lights, you couldn’t take a relaxing bath or shower. TV ancient - no Netflix etc. Spa was poor. Overcrowded swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room all rammed with people. Staff there were pretty unhelpful. Breakfast was really good though, spot on.

Room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable which is very rare as we suffer with backache on most hotel beds. All staff were friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. The history of the place was interesting. We also ate here and the food was very good.

Fabulous grounds and beautiful old building. Very comfy bed and room. Breakfast selection was excellent. Pool and spa facilities were very good. However bathroom cleanliness let it down - needed a bleach around the shower fittings and there was some dirt and mould on the back of the door. Also service in the afternoon at the restaurant - sat on the patio to have a drink, there was no one around and each time i wanted a drink i had to go and find a member of staff. Pool check in service was surly and could have been friendlier and pointed out where the facilities were.

I recently stayed at Breadsall Priory and honestly, the whole place feels tired and in need of proper investment. My room was dated, not cleaned until the last day of my stay, and to make matters worse, there was a mix-up with my key card. On the Saturday I couldn’t access my room, and when I went to reception they argued with me that it wasn’t even my room until I produced ID. Only then did they realise they’d made an error. Service throughout was painfully slow. There seemed to be plenty of staff, but actually getting a table or even just a drink at the bar meant a long wait. The food was very hit and miss — one night my ribeye steak was excellent, the next it was overcooked, had to go back, and by the time the replacement arrived it was still overdone and I’d missed dinner with my group. I also had to send back a starter (whipped feta) which was basically just yoghurt. Some meals were acceptable, but far too inconsistent for what should be a reputable venue. I booked into the spa and had a massage, but this was probably the worst treatment I’ve ever had. The therapist was lovely, but the treatment room was dated, the massage was cut short by around 20 minutes, and the overall quality was really poor. The spa facilities look and feel old, more liek a dr surgery than a relaxing retreat. On the positive side, the golf courses were in good condition and enjoyable to play, but the pro shop experience wasn’t great. I found the lady in there to be rude and unwelcoming, which

Arrived at hotel to the sound of Elvis blasting over the golf course. A wedding in progress. The restaurant was expensive slow, under staffed and not well equiped. Choice of drinks was limited due to running out of wines and water jugs. Food has good. Chips and menus left under the tables, making the restaurant look unclean. Room was nice with a great view, but the walls are paper thin, so we heard everything next door. Next doors guests decided to fight at 2am. Great. Leisure facilities A+. Breakfast was a buffet, but was nice. Overview, ok hotel, but too busy and under staffed. Could do better.

It is a lovely, though rambling hotel. Our room was not as clean as in previous visits and there was no spare toilet rolls. Housekeeping were v efficient though and brought some along.

Cons Shower leaked. Taps weren't secure. Curtain track not positioned to allow curtains to shut out the whole of the sun. No shower gel (rang twice to get some) Took 48 hours to return a call to enquire about the services availability that are advertised on the website. Pros Room was however very clean. Pool very clean and staff friendly.

Unfortunately the hotel, possibly due to age, did not have air conditioning. Instead a small fan was provided which did nothing to alleviate the high temperature in the room. The bed mattresses were also disappointing and clearly were old and lumpy making for an uncomfortable nights sleep. The rest of the room, whilst tidy, looked tired and was in need of renovation, especially the bathroom which appeared to have suffered a flood at some point.

Grounds of hotel deceive you into thinking this is more up market than it is! Stayed here when it was Marriott eight years ago and nothing has changed in terms of the rooms. Did what it need to do for a night stay but the rooms and bathroom really outdated. Beds uncomfortable and pillows agony exhausted in the morning! No sound proofing so lots of door slamming and external noise carry. Plus side staff lovely and breakfast reasonable.

the room at the 4/f is half size of the normal room size, we even cant fully standing up at the shower area. room is super hot under and no much air flow even we fully open the window. a bit disappointed. but the area is very nice, quiet and beautiful.

We were upgraded to the bridal suite. Had great views, large room, good bed but a tiny bathroom. Instant coffee was a poor choice for what we paid for this level of room and hotel.

We had room 303 in the main building, unfortunately as it is a listed building there was no lift and our room was on 3rd floor. We stayed 4 nights, the room was huge but with dated furniture to keep in line with age of house, very noisy squeaky floor boards which added to the character. The bathroom was very old fashioned and cold as the windows were stone built and draughty. No plug in basin. However, the overall cleanliness was first rate. Food was nice in restaurant. Drinks as usual with hotels were well overpriced, Double scotch and a double Baileys £29 eek!! The grounds were lovely to walk in. The pool area needs updating but was nice, water a bit chilly. Overall a wonderful stay, thank you.

Well it is 2am snd yet to sleep. The bed is horrible the room is so hot. The window barely opens -holding it open with a coffee mug The grounds are beautiful- too bad the hotel has been run poorly and into the ground Ps if you have a CPAP No plugs beside bed - NOT WORTH IT

On arrival was warm and welcoming, got to our room the furdest one possible the tv did not work and had to contact to get it fixed. The swimming pool was great. Wanted to have a shower in the morning but no hot water. Just think we did not get our money worth

Excellent stay! Had a great welcome at reception and gift bags for kids which went down a treat! Positives: Comfortable beds, clean rooms, great pool, beautiful surroundings, friendly staff Improvements required: Not enough space at restaurant for evenings, had to order food in Breakfast - food was not being topped up on a regular basis and coffee isn’t great

Fabulous grounds and beautiful old building. Very comfy bed and room. Breakfast selection was excellent. Pool and spa facilities were very good. However bathroom cleanliness let it down - needed a bleach around the shower fittings and there was some dirt and mould on the back of the door. Also service in the afternoon at the restaurant - sat on the patio to have a drink, there was no one around and each time i wanted a drink i had to go and find a member of staff. Pool check in service was surly and could have been friendlier and pointed out where the facilities were.

This is a stunning hotel and the grounds are also spectacular and very nicely kept. The rooms and food choices for evening meal and breakfast are also very good. The only thing that lets the hotel down is the staff from not clearing empty tables of empty glasses in both the bar and restaurant, despite a number of just staff walking by and not even looking at. For example we had a night cap cocktail in the bar just after 10pm and it was fairly quiet, we was in the bar for about 30-40 minutes and the bar counter surface was stacked high with glasses and bottles bought from the main restaurant and there must have been 3-4 tables in the bar with empty glasses that also hadn't been collected even thought there were staff walking in and out of the bar and also staff at the bar not taking any orders - very poor to see. The same thing in the morning we had breakfast just after 9am and there was at least 3 empty tables for the duration we were there (45-50 minutes) with left cups, plates, bowls and cutlery not being cleared.

I recently stayed at Breadsall Priory and honestly, the whole place feels tired and in need of proper investment. My room was dated, not cleaned until the last day of my stay, and to make matters worse, there was a mix-up with my key card. On the Saturday I couldn’t access my room, and when I went to reception they argued with me that it wasn’t even my room until I produced ID. Only then did they realise they’d made an error. Service throughout was painfully slow. There seemed to be plenty of staff, but actually getting a table or even just a drink at the bar meant a long wait. The food was very hit and miss — one night my ribeye steak was excellent, the next it was overcooked, had to go back, and by the time the replacement arrived it was still overdone and I’d missed dinner with my group. I also had to send back a starter (whipped feta) which was basically just yoghurt. Some meals were acceptable, but far too inconsistent for what should be a reputable venue. I booked into the spa and had a massage, but this was probably the worst treatment I’ve ever had. The therapist was lovely, but the treatment room was dated, the massage was cut short by around 20 minutes, and the overall quality was really poor. The spa facilities look and feel old, more liek a dr surgery than a relaxing retreat. On the positive side, the golf courses were in good condition and enjoyable to play, but the pro shop experience wasn’t great. I found the lady in there to be rude and unwelcoming, which

Very pleased with our stay. Breakfast options were very good. We had a meal on the Sunday evening which was as good as anything I've ever tasted. And really well presented. I'd like to add that the receptionist who was on duty on the Saturday afternoon when we arrived couldn't have been more helpful. Ten out of ten

Very disappointed. Staff other than at reception were indifferent to the customers. Slow service in the restaurant. Never asked if we wanted a drink with the meal. Food was greasy and when we mentioned it never said sorry, just "I'll tell the chef". Grounds great:-)

A quiet hotel in the middle of a golf course, easy to reach and friendly staff. Excellent traditional breakfast and comfortable beds. Property itself a little tired but that’s probably part of the charm. Delighted to have been upgraded. I’d recommend for the area.

Nice hotel that i would use again. However i was place on a room at the extremities of the hotel where there are several blocks of rooms. Unfortunately the signage to rooms apart to have been done from a perspective of those taking the long walk from the reception. Most folk though jump back in their car and drive to the carpark at the far end of the hotel (yes, it's that far). Entering from that carpark there's only a few signs that don't cover directions to every room in the blocks, for example 350 etc. If you are looking for a great hotel, don't let this put you off. If you with at the hotel, enter from the far carpark and check off that the signage in the door points to all the rooms at them end of the block and rectify where necessary. Thanks.

The journey to the room from reception was unusual! And definitely not suited to patrons with walking difficulties. 1. Either walk around the outside in all weathers, enjoying the garden views, which meant risking your life as cars sped by, all ignoring the signs asking them to drive at walking pace. Speed bumps should be installed, or larger signs, or similar deterrents to enforce this requirement. 2. or walk along multiple corridors inside, up and down many steps, before again going outside to access the room. The food in the dining room was ok but not good. It was all brown food. Same menu every day. You need to offer 'specials of the day' to ensure some variety. It was very noticeable that the breakfast service items were left out all through the lunch & evening service too, rather than cleared away like the food. Not a good impression, even though you have the room. Tidied away should be the order of the day. There was no offer at any time of help with collecting luggage from the car to deliver to the room. Nor was there an option for assistance when checking out. Not even a trolley in sight. Pleasant helpful staff in general but they all kept saying the hackneyed Americanism “Have a nice day”. This was actually unwelcome when we were off to a family funeral. Storage in our room (112) was poor. There were very few usable drawers, only small ones with no depth at all. I had to move the 2 bibles out of the bedside cabinet in order to put my undies away.

Nice hotel in great surroundings. Let down only by the restaurant unfortunately. Service not great at times, ordered drinks which hadn't arrived by the time my food did so had to chase up.then the white wine whi h was £9.00 a glass was warm! £39.00 for a very average steak served with two halves of tomato and luke warm chips !

Arrived at hotel to the sound of Elvis blasting over the golf course. A wedding in progress. The restaurant was expensive slow, under staffed and not well equiped. Choice of drinks was limited due to running out of wines and water jugs. Food has good. Chips and menus left under the tables, making the restaurant look unclean. Room was nice with a great view, but the walls are paper thin, so we heard everything next door. Next doors guests decided to fight at 2am. Great. Leisure facilities A+. Breakfast was a buffet, but was nice. Overview, ok hotel, but too busy and under staffed. Could do better.

Beautiful building and grounds. Friendly and helpful staff. felt that though the food in the restaurant was good, it was somewhat overpriced. There was a distinct lack of staff for breakfast on our 2nd morning and because all the plates were cold, the food was also cold by the time we got it to our table. Though not a criticism, this hotel cannot be recommended for anyone with mobility difficulties. There is a small lift in part of the building but when I tried to use it, the door jammed and the light inside didn't work! Otherwise, a very enjoyable stay.

Room was ok, good bed and pillows. Rubbish left in the drawers. Incredibly noisy extractor fan in the bathroom, and no soft lights, you couldn’t take a relaxing bath or shower. TV ancient - no Netflix etc. Spa was poor. Overcrowded swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room all rammed with people. Staff there were pretty unhelpful. Breakfast was really good though, spot on.

Everything was excellent especially the response of the staff throughout from reception onwards. We did have garden view rooms which no doubt made a difference but I am sure the rest would have been as good. If I had to make any criticism it would be that he main bar could be made more user friendly but even in the difficult conditions the staff were excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

The grounds and small garden are stunning. An impressive and beautiful golf course is part of the grounds and makes up half the guest at the hotel, at least . Not that made any difference to our short stay. One night breaking up a journey. Spa facilities very welcome although sauna small members kind and welcoming . Room old ( in the ‘new’ extension not the Vintage Priory ) perfectly appointed and clean with very comfy bed . Staff exceptional…especially on reception.

We had a brilliant stay. We only stayed for one night but found it to be totally worth the money. We were welcomed by the friendly staff in reception and found the staff around the property extremely helpful. Especially the staff in the restaurant and one staff member in particular was great at putting my husband at ease about what he could eat as he is a coeliac. The room was a lovely size and the mini fridge was a bonus. The fan was great addition as it was such a hot day so helped alot. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely return. Only one slight negative was that we couldn't turn the towel rail off in the bathroom which wasn't needed as it was a hot day but it didn't affect our stay.
