Found this little gem whilst looking for a stopover hotel traveling from Winchester to the Highlands. Fabulous hotel, friendly staff,good food and friendly service. Rooms are well presented, also we were traveling with a dog so good to find a dog friendly hotel. If we ever come back this way we will look at stopping here.

Stay was great. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Having mobility issues they didn’t have lifts etc so for wheelchair access it’s not suitable but they did have a banister/handrail on the stairs and everything on the ground floor (restaurant and bar) was all on the same level and the main entrance is level too for easy access. The staff did help with bags to the room. I’m unsure if this is standard or because they knew I had difficulties. Overall we were thoroughly impressed

This hotel is in a small village lovely wee park and a few nice bakeries with options for dinning. Hotel has full service restaurant and bar. Staff very friendly loved seeing Jessie in the morning for breakfast nothing is too much trouble for her. All the staff are very helpful.

Lovely hotel and staff were so friendly and polite. Very dog friendly with a large bit of grass directly outside the hotel to walk your dog. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was simple but delicious

I had stayed in 2021 and thought the room decor was quite tired; I don't think that's changed really, although I appreciated having both an iron and an ironing board. Some Glasgow hotels I could mention expect you to collect said items from reception and get them in a lift yourself. While the restaurant- bar area is very modern, I think the food was quite pricey but attractively presented. While I slept very well, my only real complaint was my room was quite cold in the morning. However, the staff were all excellent- approachable, friendly and attentive. I would definitely stay again when visiting the town.

Positives - Easy parking and check in, welcoming informative staff, room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. Negatives - no lift, a maze of corridors to access our room, creaky floorboards, our meals in restaurant were well below par and expensive. On balance the positives outweighed the negatives.

Very nice restaurant, good food. Good bar too. I had a single room which was fine though the room was a bit tired. Wouldn't take much to really improve it. However for the price, very good.

The staff were good. The restaurant was modern & clean. The evening meal and the breakfast, in the restaurant, were good. The condition of the hotel (hallway, stairs and room) was poor. Needs to have a good clean and refresh. The hotel has the potential to be really good.

Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Need more staff at breakfast time especially on the morning after a wedding. Housekeeping definitely needs improvement. Very squeaky flooring in annexe, in corridors and rooms.

Most staff we came into contact with were very friendly, helpful and professional. We stayed for 5nights/ 6 days and our sheets did not get changed during our stay. The housekeeping definitely needs improvement.

I've used this hotel several times over recent years and it is on a downward trajectory. The worst part was the toilets adjacent to the dining and bar area, they were truly revolting, what one might expect at a busy football stadium rather than a quiet hotel on a Bank Holiday weekend! No excuse for that! Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful but one rather slow barmaid let me sit in an empty bar for over fifteen minutes before realising I wanted to order food. Chipped paint, bathroom towels with holes and grubby carpets paint a picture of slow decline... I won't be back!

The room was just done up it was very nice but there was an old sash window that rattled all night you could see day light out the bottom of it and the draft was terrible .

This is a beautiful hotel and the staff are amazing. They were all super helpful, relaxed and happy. We kind of took over the hotel for a wedding and they still had smiles on their faces, nothing was a problem for them. We couldn’t have been any happier with them - many thanks to them all

Single traveller, using the hotel as a half way stop during a long journey. Stayed just for one night. The staff, from the reception to the restaurant were absolutely fantastic. Knew my name and used it, I felt like their most important customer, even though the hotel/restaurant seemed busy. Hotel is clean and comfortable, room (8) is small but perfect for one person unless you really want to spread out or perhaps are staying a bit longer. Some of the pipework looks a bit "vintage" but to be honest all this does is to add to the overall comfortable charm of the place. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Would happily stay here again and would recommend this hotel to others.

Really great staff and a lovely hidden gem of a hotel, I will definitely stay again. We had a late check in with it being an off the cuff booking on our drive up and we couldn't have asked for a more welcoming and friendly check-in from Sam..

Single room this time and very quiet which is rare. Staff at reception and in the restaurant were excellent, professional, friendly and attentive when necessary. Lovely surroundings and always a pleasure staying there. Special mention to Amy in the restaurant who was very engaging.

Last minute booking and certainly not disappoined! Staff excellent, food excellent, room excellent and location excellent. It was just an overnight stay but we were able to leave the car at the hotel to walk down into Strathaven for a mooch around. Would definitely recommend. Thankyou from June & Peter xxx

This hotel is in a small village lovely wee park and a few nice bakeries with options for dinning. Hotel has full service restaurant and bar. Staff very friendly loved seeing Jessie in the morning for breakfast nothing is too much trouble for her. All the staff are very helpful.

Single traveller, using the hotel as a half way stop during a long journey. Stayed just for one night. The staff, from the reception to the restaurant were absolutely fantastic. Knew my name and used it, I felt like their most important customer, even though the hotel/restaurant seemed busy. Hotel is clean and comfortable, room (8) is small but perfect for one person unless you really want to spread out or perhaps are staying a bit longer. Some of the pipework looks a bit "vintage" but to be honest all this does is to add to the overall comfortable charm of the place. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Would happily stay here again and would recommend this hotel to others.

Good stay. Breafast good choice. Mine a bit disappointing. I had French toast with bacon. French toast soggy and burnt. Accommodation very good with friendly staff.

Lovely hotel and staff were so friendly and polite. Very dog friendly with a large bit of grass directly outside the hotel to walk your dog. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was simple but delicious

I had stayed in 2021 and thought the room decor was quite tired; I don't think that's changed really, although I appreciated having both an iron and an ironing board. Some Glasgow hotels I could mention expect you to collect said items from reception and get them in a lift yourself. While the restaurant- bar area is very modern, I think the food was quite pricey but attractively presented. While I slept very well, my only real complaint was my room was quite cold in the morning. However, the staff were all excellent- approachable, friendly and attentive. I would definitely stay again when visiting the town.

Positives - Easy parking and check in, welcoming informative staff, room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. Negatives - no lift, a maze of corridors to access our room, creaky floorboards, our meals in restaurant were well below par and expensive. On balance the positives outweighed the negatives.

My hotel room was lovely and the staff were all very friendly and helpful….nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and freshly cooked. I am looking forward to my next visit as I have a friend who has moved from England and now lives near to the hotel.

Lovely staff in an excellent location with beautifully maintained common areas Plenty of free parking We did have mould in our bathroom but staff were quick to respond The room is a little tired and could use a lick of paint but the beds were very comfy and we had everything we needed lol

The hotel itself was excellent, with a modern and clean room and a great breakfast. Unfortunately, my stay coincided with a wedding reception, and the DJ played extremely loud music with a thumping bass until midnight. It completely undermined what should have been a relaxing overnight stay. The hotel should either improve the soundproofing or avoid booking non-wedding guests on nights when a wedding reception is taking place. It's a shame, as everything else about the hotel was very good.
