Foi uma experiência maravilhosa, o hotel fica no antigo castelo, com acesso a pé até as muralhas. A vista é incrível. Boa opção para conhecer a região, mas precisa de carro para se deslocar para as outras cidades.

The positives are this is a beautiful, historic building with great views and large rooms, the negatives are the service, especially in the restaurant, the food (the worst dinner we’ve had in Portugal, the fish was so overcook and had no sauce), the communal facilities (there’s a stunning courtyard, but it’s not used and it has 4 half dead orange trees and fake wisteria flowers, nothing else to make it nice) and the large bedrooms, which, although large and nice, need updating, especially the ugly bathrooms.

Overall, this is a magical place. The setting of the hotel exceeded expectations. It's perched at the top of a huge hill with views of the countryside in every direction. Be aware that you'll be driving basically straight uphill at one point! You can explore the entire castle complex next-door free of charge, which I definitely recommend! Arriving later in the day to stormy weather, we didn't get to take advantage of the hotel's beautiful terrace. But we enjoyed exploring the spooky hallways and also had a great dinner in the restaurant. Unfortunately, there were a couple of issues with our room. First, the A/C did not appear to be working, we had it set to the lowest setting and the room was still very warm, which made for not the best night's sleep. Second, the temperature control for the main rainfall shower head was apparently broken, nothing we did could get the temperature down from scalding hot. Luckily the temperature control for the handheld hose was working, so we were able to use that. The room was lovely otherwise, the bathroom was beautiful and the windows opened right out to a view of the castle. If we'd been able to stay another night, I would have raised these issues to the management, but we just had the one night and an early checkout, so I didn't get a chance to bring it up. The staff were lovely and I'm sure they would have tried to help. I honestly wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a very pleasant stay at this Pousada. The room was well appointed and the bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. The breakfast was also superb. The staff were all extremely helpful and knowledgeable. You can also walk around the ruins and fortifications next to the hotel. It is a very beautiful setting. The only very minor negative was the shower fitting in the bathroom that is supposed to hold the shower head. It was very loose meaning when you showered you had to hold the shower head in your hand rather than leave it in the wall holder otherwise the water pressure would cause it to wobble around which sprayed water all around the bathroom rather than onto the person showering.

It’s a real treat staying here. What a fun place to stay, a hotel that is part of a 15th C castle. The facilities are great. The tavern on the property had excellent food. The rooms are spacious and very nice.

The castle next door was terrific! (This is our 4th stay with the Pestana Group.) Breakfast was mediocre…overripe/underripe fruit etc. Terrible smell/toilet noises on 3rd night. Main room heater/fan was inoperable. Shower head didn’t work even though we asked for assistance. Nice size room. Clean, shower glass door gasket coming apart.

Warm and efficient welcome by Joao. Was offered help with bags. Hotels.com reward in room. Clean, tidy and comfortable room. Service at dinner equally excellent as was the food and wine. Incredibly helpful people at front desk. Nice breakfast, clean room, but the front doors are hard to open/close and flummox everyone who comes comes through them. Closed back on me and nearly hit me in the face.

Spent just the one night here at this amazing old convent in a castle. Perfect distance to Lisbon for airport access next day after our time on the algarve. Rooms modern and tastefully decorated. Food of high quality and extensive menu options. Perfect change up for our last night in Portugal. Would recommend.

Palmela is a small, charming town with not much to do so our two night stay was just the perfect amount of time to be there. Staying in a historic castle is a one of a kind experience. Our room was luxurious, the whole place is elegant and the view from the property is amazing. It takes you back in time. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious!

We had a really great stay at this hotel. For kids it was magical to be next to a castle. The views were incredible. The breakfast was delicious. Our shower wasn’t working when we arrived and it got fixed the next day while we were out. That impressed us too. Dinner options were limited for kids but we made the best of it. Only downside was that the beds were really hard and the coffee was bad at breakfast (also there was no in room coffee available).

Warm and efficient welcome by Joao. Was offered help with bags. Hotels.com reward in room. Clean, tidy and comfortable room. Service at dinner equally excellent as was the food and wine. Breakfast comprehensive and attentive service. Worth the stay. Many thanks to the cleaning staff, they did a great job.

Nous avons adoré qu'il nous accueille à 23h, nous et nos enfants, car nous avons eu une mésaventure et nous n'avions plus de place où dormir. L'endroit est magnifique, le personnel extraordinaire et le déjeuner somptueux. Une de nos plus belles experiences à l'hôtel. Merci pour tout!!

Reception staff was pleasant and friendly. we appreciated the bottle of wine as a welcome gift. Food served at dinner was below par... a too full plate of not very warm "Caramella" soup, (not our favourite), a full plate of tasteless black linguine with few shrimps, scallops and peppers. Service was below par. We had a bottle of rose, our glasses were never refilled, but those of other guests were. The male staff member was not overly friendly (to us...) The large room was excellent with beautiful view of the surrounding areas.

This hotel was incredible. Great property to walk around but what really made it stand out was the staff. The host that greeted us (Ana Maia) was incredible. Went way above and beyond to help us print boarding passes. She was so friendly, helpful and did everything she could to make sure our stay was felt special.

Palmela is a small, charming town with not much to do so our two night stay was just the perfect amount of time to be there. Staying in a historic castle is a one of a kind experience. Our room was luxurious, the whole place is elegant and the view from the property is amazing. It takes you back in time. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious!

Overall, this is a magical place. The setting of the hotel exceeded expectations. It's perched at the top of a huge hill with views of the countryside in every direction. Be aware that you'll be driving basically straight uphill at one point! You can explore the entire castle complex next-door free of charge, which I definitely recommend! Arriving later in the day to stormy weather, we didn't get to take advantage of the hotel's beautiful terrace. But we enjoyed exploring the spooky hallways and also had a great dinner in the restaurant. Unfortunately, there were a couple of issues with our room. First, the A/C did not appear to be working, we had it set to the lowest setting and the room was still very warm, which made for not the best night's sleep. Second, the temperature control for the main rainfall shower head was apparently broken, nothing we did could get the temperature down from scalding hot. Luckily the temperature control for the handheld hose was working, so we were able to use that. The room was lovely otherwise, the bathroom was beautiful and the windows opened right out to a view of the castle. If we'd been able to stay another night, I would have raised these issues to the management, but we just had the one night and an early checkout, so I didn't get a chance to bring it up. The staff were lovely and I'm sure they would have tried to help. I honestly wish we could have stayed longer!

This was probably the highlight of our trip to Portugal. It was wonderful staying in the old monastery and touring through the castle. If you are not traveling by car it can be a bit of an adventure getting to the Pousada. We took the train from Campolide on Feftsgus. The fair was 4.65E. When you get off though your are not close to the Pousada. It would be better to take a bus from Lisbon (Orient). It is 4.50E. Takes about 15 minutes longer, but you are much closer to the castle. You can walk (it is steep) or grab a cab for about 3.50E.

O local é muito bonito, a vista espetacular. Nota-se que é um hotel antigo, a precisar de renovação de mobiliário, casas de banho... Mas a paisagem compensa. Dificuldades: ausência de posto de carregamento elétrico ou mesmo disponibilização de tomada e muito distante de restaurantes (tudo requer o uso de carro). O atendimento do restaurante é excelente, os funcionários muito gentis e o pequeno almoço ótimo. Porém, não recomendo o jantar de forma alguma, os pratos (frango a púcara e uma massa com peixe) estavam terríveis, totalmente inconcebível para um hotel desse porte.

We had a really great stay at this hotel. For kids it was magical to be next to a castle. The views were incredible. The breakfast was delicious. Our shower wasn’t working when we arrived and it got fixed the next day while we were out. That impressed us too. Dinner options were limited for kids but we made the best of it. Only downside was that the beds were really hard and the coffee was bad at breakfast (also there was no in room coffee available).

This was a wonderful hotel. I spent one night there. I arrived early and staff we very helpful in allowing me to use the amenities until my room was ready. Walking around the property and through the Castle was a highlight. There are a couple of places to eat but I only at in the hotel restaurant and it was delicious. Serving staff were very professional and attentive. The room was well services with large towels, beverages in the fridge. The bed is on the firm side but I found it to be comfortable. If you are driving just note that the driveway to the parking at the hotel is narrow but it was no trouble. There is a lower lot but that is not ideal if you have luggage. I would stay here again.
