Beautiful, clean hotel with a fun vibe in a great location central to everything. The staff were excellent and very helpful at all times. We loved the 24/7 coffee bar located on the 4th floor which was so convenient and we were surprised at the excellent quality of the coffee! Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed the variety of options. Would recommend this hotel and we would definitely return in the future!

Otroligt trevlig service! Väldigt lyxigt att bara kunna lämna bilnycklarna vid ankomst och få hjälp med parkeringen. Rent, fräscht och lyxigt boende.

Rival är förmodligen inte bäst på något; men Rival är inte heller dåligt på något och jämnheten vinner! Vi börjar med bra personal, bra mottagande, bra valet parking, bra rum, bra barer, bra läge, bra frukost, bra restaurant…å så fortsätter det, det liksom bara funkar! Men dyrt ibland.

I feel quite fortunate to have booked our stay at Hotel Rival. The room was comfortable and very clean. The view of the park across the street was very nice. A short and pleasant walk to Old Town. The staff were amazing. Friendly and helpful. A Relaxing environment. We enjoyed the breakfast and coffee bar on the 4th floor. Finally , a shout out to Joel , thank you for the warm welcome to the hotel, city and country.

Helt OK rum som dock inte sticker ut. Men det som verkligen sticker ut är bemötande och serviceanda! Bäst i sverige. Dessutom är utbudet av barer, restauranger och underhållning lysande. Så totalt ett riktigt bra ställe!!

Best hotel of any I have stayed in in last three years. Cleanliness is impeccable and room las large with clean carpeting. Centrally located and near the Silja ferry dock. I was asked if I would be having breakfast in the morning I said I had an early flight and they said they would pack me something to take and the next morning they remembered! Never had such excellent service.

Lovely supportive staff. Good breakfast. Very happy with room. Communal areas in floor 4 need work. Heavily stained carpet. Looks like there’s been a flood or big spills without the carpet being cleaned or changed.

My first room was terrible. Filthy carpets, TV remote was dead, the safe didn’t work, and there are no blackout curtains. The curtains they had did not cover the windows completely, and it was light for most of the night. I complained and they moved me to a beautiful room, which is what they should’ve given me to begin with.

Loved the location...quick walk to the subway. Room was beautiful and beds very comfortable. The hallway carpeting was atrocious...deeply stained and dated. This was the only reason I couldn't give the hotel a 5 star rating.

Rival ligger i hjärtat av Södermalm så jättebra gångavstånd till Götgatan och flera restauranger. Otroligt gästvänlig och trevlig personal. Mysig miljö och härlig konst på väggarna. Jag älskade frukosten och då är jag en person som ofta väljer hotell efter frukostutbudet… Jag upplevde frukosten lugn och familjär och med ett bra utbud. Enda minuset var att det var dubbeltäcke i dubbelsängen (vilket säkert hade gått att få ett till om vi vetat om det) och några gillar ju också det… och att vi fick ett rum precis vägg i vägg med en allmän kaffeautomat. Vi tänkte att man ändå inte dricker kaffe på natten så det var lugnt. Pyttsan! 00:30 intog den sista gästen kaffe på natten och 05:30 intogs den första koppen av en annan gäst. Ljudet fortplantade rätt rejält in till vårt rum. Hit kommer vi gärna igen men inte till det rummet! 😄

Very friendly hotel. Love the breakfast and the location. Rooms are tiny but the bed is comfortable and love the fact that they spoil you with lots of pillows.

The hotel is located in a convenient location with close proximity to restaurants and cafes! The bed and pillows were very comfy and the reception staff was very friendly! The room size was small and the bathroom was really tiny and the lighting in the bathroom and room were not enough. Also there’s no master switch so you need to switch off lamps etc individually which was inconvenient.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Rival! Michele and Sveda were so helpful and lovely. We stayed in the penthouse suite which had beautiful views of the park snd surrounding area and was gorgeous! The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was remarkable. Can’t say enough about how much we loved this place. Loved the history as a theater and the artwork. Highly recommend for a great stay in Stockholm!!

the hotel charges much to much for an outdated room with a bad smell, no blackout curtains, and peeling paint. They need to either lower the rates for the older rooms or do some major renovations. The lighting was annoying, with no overhead lighting and no central light switch. I have never spent so much time trying to turn on and off various lamps. I would have been ok with the subpar furnishings, but it is unacceptable to not have proper blackout curtains or blinds in a country where the sun is up most of the night in the summer. Sleep is a basic necessity. I was told to use an eye mask. Also, the hotel doesn’t have a bellhop or complimentary water so be prepared when you arrive if you choose to stay here

The staff were amazing. My mom & I came in early off of a cruise and they happened to have a room ready so we were able to put our luggage in our room and freshen up a bit. They asked us if we wanted our breakfast for that morning since we were leaving the next morning before breakfast time. So much going above & beyond. Great experience and great breakfast too!!

We have had an excellent stay here at Hotel Rival. The room is very comfortable, and there are wonderful amenities. I especially like robes and slippers! The breakfast is also top notch with delicious options and a menu to order from. But what sets Hotel Rival apart from others is the exceptional, friendly, knowledgeable staff. People at the front desk, directed us where to go and how to get there, and let us work on our Swedish with them. The people at breakfast were so kind and warm. One woman even showed us how her grandmother served Swedish pancakes. Even the police officer doing security last weekend for a concert was friendly. This encouraged us to stay an extra night because the people here have made the hotel feel like a home away from home. Thanks for making this stay so special.

From the warm welcome to the warm goodbye, the staff at this hotel are some of the friendliest I've ever encountered. Nothing was too much trouble. Their knowledge of Stockholm is, of course, excellent but the enthusiasm with which they share it is infectious. Our room had lovely amenities, the only slight complaint was it could have been a degree or two warmer, as the temperature outside dropped while there but the bed was very comfortable and warm. If I ever return to Stockholm, I would stay here again, no question. And finally, it is situated a hop away from the metro, an easy walk away from the ferry and on the doorstep to the old town, so its location makes it a winner. Recommended.

If I ever return to Stockholm, I would stay here again, no question. And finally, it is situated a hop away from the metro, an easy walk away from the ferry and on the doorstep to the old town, so its location makes it a winner. Recommended.

This hotel was outstanding. Important to note that it is non smoking and has great air conditioning. There is a subway stop five minutes from the hotel. The location is great. The bed was wonderful and they had a pillow menu. The front desk crew could not have been more helpful. They arranged a taxi to the airport for us. Since they knew we were leaving before breakfast they prepared ham sandwiches, oranges, and orange juice to eat in the cab on the way to the airport.

Probably one of the nicest, most hospitable places I’ve ever stayed in Europe. The rooms were great, the breakfast fantastic, the craft cocktails at the bar were spot on and the location an easy walk to everything. Staff was amazing! Got us comfortable with the city and helped with everything including having a breakfast ready to go for us along with a taxi so we could make our early flight. Michelle at the front desk was amazing, warm and welcoming. 5 stars plus! Stay here and you won’t be disappointed.

Breakfast had everything you could want buffet and cooked. There is a bistro and tavern and bar. Warm friendly place easily accessed using commuter SL train from airport to Stockholm Sodra the stop after Stockholm Central. Then a short easy walk to hotel.

Hotel itself has an eclectic vibe with red cabinets in the very comfortable rooms, colorful carpets in the halls, and plush seating in the lobby. The breakfast buffet, available 7 am to noon, was excellent and included cooked-to-order dishes like Swedish pancakes and avocado toast with egg. The location of the hotel is next to a peaceful park, steps away from a bus stop and a block from the Metro. Old Town (Gamla Stan) is easily walkable, two bus or Metro stops away. The area around the hotel has many restaurants and bars, including several on the lively Swedenborgsgatan. A few blocks away is Ivor Los Park which offers dramatic views of the city.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Rival. It is conveniently located with the train station only a 5 minute walk from the hotel which then takes you to the City Center. it is about a 15 minute walk to the Old Town where there is a variety of restaurants and stores. There is a lovely park in front and it was wonderful to sit there and enjoy the Swedish tradition of Fika- drinking our coffee and having our pastry after a long day of exploring Stockholm. All the staff were friendly and very helpful- they truly want you to enjoy your time in their city. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel!

Wonderful hotel with comfortable beds and an excellent breakfast and bar. We loved the streets nearby with outdoor dining options. Still close to the old town and tourist hot spots - but outside proper tourist area.

Great stay at Hotel Rival. Nice room, excellent staff, delicious, hearty breakfast that will fuel you for most of the day, and a happening bar/lobby to come back to at the end of the day. Also across from a lovely park, 1 block from metro station, and surrounded by great restaurant options.

Perfect stay! you can walk to all the good spots (old town, shopping) but you’re also close to buses and the metro. I agree with all the previous reviews: the staff is awesome, the rooms are great and the included breakfast is really good. Worth every penny!

The Hotel Rival is truly a Stockholm gem. Our family of six loved this hotel and are still raving about it now that we're back home. I had great communication with the staff before our arrival about getting to the hotel from the airport, which was much appreciated. We arrived a little groggy after our eight-hour flight and the Hotel Rival staff couldn't have been kinder and more accommodating. Even though we were several hours before the official check-in, they were able to secure our three rooms, giving us a chance for a quick nap before we began touring wonderful Stockholm. The entire property is beautiful and the rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. The breakfasts, which are included, were absolutely delicious. There's a lovely park across the street and we were able to walk to just about every place we wanted to visit. we hated to leave, but the staff also helped us secure a large taxi for our return to the airport. Can't say enough about the Hotel Rival. One of our favorite European hotels ever! Thank you

This is an amazing hotel, from the initial check-in process to check out. The hotel staff are wonderfully accommodating and were extremely helpful. Situated in the middle of everything, it was easy to get around the city as the nearest subway station was only 2 blocks away. We cannot recommend Hotel Rival enough.

The service is both friendly and helpful. The only comparison would be four seasons but that is more formal. The restaurants are way above hotel average while being reasonable cost. Laundry is reasonably priced and efficient.

What makes me see one hotel as superior to another begins with how you are treated at the very start. This is one of those hotels. Those behind the reception desk actually answer your questions, offer solutions to your needs and made me feel they sincerely wanted to (and did) help. The entire staff, throughout my 3 day stay, maintained that same level of care. They advised on which taxis were 'honorable'; booked tours; even offerred to take me on a tour when a guide wasn't available. It was just unlike any hotel I have ever stayed. Oh, they have coffee at all hours - even for those unfortuate travelers who have early moring flights. Their Tavern Restaurant is fun for lunch and dinner and thier breakfast is impressive. It a great hotel on a colorful street where the locals come and sit at the park across the street. You'll be hard pressed to find such a wonderful place when you visit Stockholm!
