With a few little tweaks this idyllic chateau could be truly top-notch. It's quirky, but elegant. Pros: Beautiful grounds, tennis courts, little bistro tables scattered about. Friendly staff. Bathroom on #14 was large and the hot towel rack was so luxurious. Quiet. Beds and linens very comfortable. Housekeeping did a nice job refreshing the room when we wanted, but left us alone when we didn't. Cons: Sometimes there's a language barrier. The restaurant service was stellar and the setting was gorgeous, but the food was average. We had beef carpaccio, salad with bacon, steamed salmon and steamed sea bass and a brownie with caramel sauce. It's a decent option if you don't want to walk 18 minutes into town. The room had 4 packets of tea and it would be 50 cents per package after that. Seems petty and nit-picky. The larger garbage can was for paper, while the small bathroom can was for everything else. Again, odd. There's an elegant water dispenser in the reception area flanked by a cabinet with European adapters and knick knacks. It all sounds trivial, but it detracts from the potential upscale experience. There are updated lighting options, plugs, entry locks, shower fixtures then there's a seat cushion hole in the elegant lounge. Details matter. Literally just back from a 2 night stay here and stayed in a family duplex since was for 4 adults which are on a separate block to the main house. Was a very nice stay overall, big spacious room with an additional upstairs double bed and bathroom, although just the one toilet for both floors. Lovely quiet grounds to sit in, fairly easy 20 minute walk into the middle of Bayeux and breakfast plentiful buffet style thing. I have an EV so perfect for me, arrived with about 40% battery and filled up for about £27 on the 22kw charger so happy days! Staff friendly so honestly no complaints from us. I would say breakfast is too expensive at €17 per person per night is my only observation.

Vi bodde i det angränsande huset till slottet och det var perfekt för vår familj. Barnen kunde sova på övervåningen och vi hade ett stort rum för oss själva. Luftigt, ljust, rent och charmig miljö. Det fanns ingen AC, men det behövdes inte då det var så stora rum och luftiga ytor. Stenväggarna hjälpte säkert också. Bra frukost och smidigt med parkering och laddstolpe till vår hybridbil. Tog inte mer än 10 minuter att promenera in till stadskärnan.

Excellent séjour. Réservation du 31 mai / 1 juin pour une famille de 5 personnes. Cadre magnifique. Hôtel très bien placé. Chambre en Duplex très spacieuse et bien équipée. Parking facile avec des bornes de recharges pour véhicule électrique. Dîner bon. Déjeuner buffet bien. Petit point à améliorer : Manque de personnel pour le dîner, 1 seule serveuse pour tout le restaurant qui gère en même temps la réception... Efficace, aucun soucis, mais ne peut pas tout faire ni être partout.

Location, parking and staff are very good . Room 11 was ok , good TV , comfortable bed and pillows , very clean . Sadly the 3 nights were constant in a humming in the room 😞 , then there was a constant banging through the evening . This banging I believe is the front main door !!!!’ …: hotel take a look , you should put some noise stops on it to prevent it closing with a bang !!! WiFi was very poor .

Amazing property! So charming. The crackling fireplace was a wonderful welcome after a long day of walking around sightseeing. Breakfast had a very good selection. We had a wonderful restful stay.

Gorgeous property. You felt like you were an honored guest at a summer garden castle. It was lovely sitting outside, relaxing, and having apéritives from the restaurant bar after a long, interesting but emotionally hard day of visiting the Normandy D-day sites. The view of the Bayeux Cathedral over the river that runs by the castle is beautiful. We also enjoyed a late dinner in the restaurant which was delicious and prepared quickly. We spent the late evening enjoying the way the gardens and chateau were illuminated.it was just a quick drive in the morning to see the Bayeux tapestry. We stayed in the larger Annex, which had a lovely garden view and tennis courts right behind a private patio. These rooms would be great for a small family if the children are old enough to use the stairs as it is on three levels. The bedding and beds were excellent. My only complaint is that the small couch in the upper room with the double bed was a bit dirty.

Nice property, room was spacious and the staff friendly and accommodating. My only complaint was the bathroom got completely wet when trying to shower, totally poor design. Overall I would recommend.

My brother, SIL and I stayed here for 3 nights in early June 2023. We had a townhouse like room for 3 persons in the annex. I was on the top floor, the very modern shower and double sinks were off the stair landing and the toilet was on the bottom floor. So I had to always go down stairs to use either room. No toilet in the main bathroom on the landing. So, be warned! The bed was comfortable, the scenery and gardens beautiful. The main problem, besides getting up in the night to go down 2 sets of stairs to the toilet, was the ants that invaded the 2nd day we were there into the main floor and my brother and SIL's bed! The staff were very responsive and came to spray, but my SIL was freaked out from then on. For the price we paid, ants were not expected!

The shower need a squeegee or secondary drain for the excess water that formed outside the shower area. The room was comfy and well stocked for our stay, however!

Beautiful hotel in a quiet location, with comfortable rooms and a very good sleep. We had a chateau room which was delightful and good value. Helpful and friendly staff, though we were caught out by the fact they don’t staff reception all hours, so you are supposed to let them know in advance when you’re arriving, if before 3pm. A few small issues: the bathroom had a bath with shower attachment but there was no high spot to hang the shower head, so had to hold it which makes washing hair very difficult. More than that, the handle was broken so the shower head just spun in our hands, and water went everywhere. Tricky to have a comfortable shower. Breakfast was not really good value for money; we’d recommend grabbing something in town.

The chateau is very old. Our room was on floor one and stairs lean a bit to one side. No air conditioning which would be a problem with any heat as they have moats of swampy water next to hotel so imagine insects would be an issue. We did not feel comfortable leaving window open and room was hot while sleeping . Our mattress was too soft leaning to one side so old. Room was not great and small! Stayed 3 nights worst stay of trip but still average and rate was good. Skipped breakfast as it looked bad for the expense. Did not eat dinner at chateau just walked 20 min to dining options. Parking was great to have but would not stay there again! Staff was nice

Odd configuration with duplex- toilet on first floor but no shelf to place toiletries and the shower/sink upstairs bathroom which is a decent 30 stairwell. No water pressure in shower and dirty grout populated on tiles. Otherwise very clean. Dinner solid but had nothing to drink for 45 min as the server was busy with other diners- lovely woman but perhaps add pitcher of water to tables and/or check to see if guests would like wine with dinner and not only with appetizers. Waited so long for check post dessert that we finally left.

Vi bodde i det angränsande huset till slottet och det var perfekt för vår familj. Barnen kunde sova på övervåningen och vi hade ett stort rum för oss själva. Luftigt, ljust, rent och charmig miljö. Det fanns ingen AC, men det behövdes inte då det var så stora rum och luftiga ytor. Stenväggarna hjälpte säkert också. Bra frukost och smidigt med parkering och laddstolpe till vår hybridbil. Tog inte mer än 10 minuter att promenera in till stadskärnan.

My brother, SIL and I stayed here for 3 nights in early June 2023. We had a townhouse like room for 3 persons in the annex. I was on the top floor, the very modern shower and double sinks were off the stair landing and the toilet was on the bottom floor. So I had to always go down stairs to use either room. No toilet in the main bathroom on the landing. So, be warned! The bed was comfortable, the scenery and gardens beautiful. The main problem, besides getting up in the night to go down 2 sets of stairs to the toilet, was the ants that invaded the 2nd day we were there into the main floor and my brother and SIL's bed! The staff were very responsive and came to spray, but my SIL was freaked out from then on. For the price we paid, ants were not expected!

Charming hotel in an old country mansion. Easy 15 min walk into town, slightly less to train station. Helpful staff at front desk assisted us in booking a great tour of the D-Day beaches. Our room was small, but nice. The bed was comfortable. The dinner was really delicious (reservations required).

Het hotel was op zich wel netjes en mooi. Parkeren was ook geen probleem. Wij hadden een kamer (15) op de 4e verdieping en daar was de wifi slecht. Het viel elke keer uit, wat jammer was. Het ontbijt wat wij elke dag namen was voldoende. Wetende dat een frans ontbijt minimaal is. Hier geef ik een cijfer 7 voor. Wij hebben 1 avond gebruik gemaakt om daar te dineren. Zelf vind ik dat matig. (maar smaken verschillen nu eenmaal.) Al met al een leuk hotel.

Maybe it just was a bad day to be there. If you don't want to fight the hectic town, this location is great. But, the free breakfast advertised by Expedia was refused to be honored by the front desk. He was rude to us and was working both the desk and the bar. His idea of a whiskey "pour" was let me put as little in the glass as i possibly can, and then quote "thats the rule" when questioned. Interesting enough, he also said it was his last day. Seemed to be more rules and expensive charges to collect money than make you stay welcome. Nothing to show off the history of the property or welcoming attitude. The rooms were clean and beds very comfortable. Shower head needed some work to keep adjustment and coffee maker didn't work... for your limit of 2 free pods!

Excellent séjour. Réservation du 31 mai / 1 juin pour une famille de 5 personnes. Cadre magnifique. Hôtel très bien placé. Chambre en Duplex très spacieuse et bien équipée. Parking facile avec des bornes de recharges pour véhicule électrique. Dîner bon. Déjeuner buffet bien. Petit point à améliorer : Manque de personnel pour le dîner, 1 seule serveuse pour tout le restaurant qui gère en même temps la réception... Efficace, aucun soucis, mais ne peut pas tout faire ni être partout.

Good. Room had a body odor when we arrived. Sparyed with Frebreeze which helped. Also, needed to schedule a taxi ride into town for an early morning excusion. Staff anot available to assist the eveining befor or in the AM and walked.

We had a fantastic stay at the hotel and the 3 course evening meal snd cocktails was a lovely addition to the stay. Location to Bayeux town centre was really close and within easy walking distance. Staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Amazing shower - best ever. Sadly inconsistency with the friendliness of the staff. The guy who checked us in was brilliant, couldn’t do enough. Next day on checking out, no one about and waited 15 minutes for someone to appear despite ringing the bell. We were met by a sourly lady who wasn\t at all friendly and seemed like the job was beneath her.

What a charming place to stay. This place is a little bit off the beaten path so not walkable if that’s what you’re looking for. However, this is a charming property with a lot of character. The staff was friendly and they really enjoyed the general area. We’re very happy with our room.

This property is the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life. From the demi-moat, to the gazebo, to the gardens, to the grand stairway and high ceilings, this place comes straight out of a fairytale. AND although it is off the beaten path with views of green rolling hills, it is ALSO within 20 mins walking distance of downtown Bayeux. Will absolutely visit again.

Great place to stay if you want a little peace and quiet. The grounds were perfect for working outside. It’s about a 15 minute pleasant walk to the main drag and Place de Quebec. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 4 days before we moved on to Paris. This place is great. Its walking distance to the train station and the town of Bayeux. Perfect starting point for Normandy and D day beaches, they have many tours leaving from town. The restaurant is very good. Beware of the burger though. Its more like a beef tartar that is seared and topped with cambenbert chhese and served as a hamburger. My daughter ordered it and she didnt like it. I ate it, it was good. But i also ate my delicious French meal. Its not a traditional burger If it was any rarer it would be mooing.. Be sure to try the local spirit called Calvados, made with local apples. The grounds of the Chateau are beautiful. All together an excellent stay.

Very nice and clean hotel. French country chateau feel. Rooms good size and huge modern bathroom. Breakfast was very good. Only minutes from Omaha Beach and other WW2 memorials.

Inez on reception was very helpful . If we had known that the restaurant was closed for dinner on both nights we would have booked somewhere else. Suggest breakfast window is narrowed so that it can be managed better as on second morning both orange juice machines were not working and the pastries tray was virtually empty. Would have preferred a bathroom with a walk in shower.

Room was very spacious, bed firm and big bathtub, the environs bucolic, very close to everything. The breakfast was very disappointing - out of a lot of things - and we had dinner there- great dining room, lovely service but food was a real disappointment.

La Bellefontaine is a beautiful castle in walking distance to Bayeaux. We got room number one and what a room. Very nice. Missed the garden view but then go one stair down and you are in the park. Nice service, exelent breakfast, and with a chill rose in the glass La Bellefontaine is one of a kind. We loved it. PS: The restaturant were closed most of the time caused to wedding etc...but there are good restaurants in Bayeux inclusive a Michelin coming up. Remeber reservation. Angelo Denmark

What an amazing hotel, the rooms were massive with mini fridge and coffee and tea facilities. The staff were amazing and the evening meal even though it was a set three course was priced incredibly reasonably and the food was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t recommend it any more.

We were expecting nice lawns and a place to sit out after touring…but I felt like I needed to do yard work. The room was okay except there was no place to hang a towel, and the sink was insanely small in the half bath. No place to put your luggage so you had to zip it up when finished Our son had the upstairs bed that sounded like it broke every time he got in it, but he said he was fine. It was a great location.

Sadly this hotel was nothing like the photos and nowhere near a 4* hotel. Positives first: * comfy bed * dinner was good, served by a lovely, friendly, efficient girl (the only member of staff on duty it seemed, as she was covering reception as well) However, there is an air of complete disinterest to the needs of guests, and lack of pride in the hotel. Many amenities advertised were not present (no shower- only a bath, no minibar, no aircon (fan instead) rationed coffee pods. Musty smelling room with stained carpet. The gardens could be beautiful but the lawns were unmown, with weeds growing up through the gravel, dead flowers in pots and a full ashtray left full of water on the bridge. The outside tables were dusty, and the rooms in a separate outbuilding, which had their own terraces, were full of weeds taking over-you certainly wouldn’t sit out there. Windows were filthy, with giant spiders webs on the top floor. Breakfast was dreadful, with old scrambled egg and flaccid hash browns, served by a grumpy waitress, who looked like she didn’t want to be there. Such a shame, because many issues could be sorted out in a week if the owners looked at their surroundings and saw the issues in front of them.
Sadly this hotel was nothing like the photos and nowhere near a 4* hotel. Positives first: * comfy bed * dinner was good, served by a lovely, friendly, efficient girl (the only member of staff on duty it seemed, as she was covering reception as well) However, there is an air of complete disinterest to the needs of guests, and lack of pride in the hotel. Many amenities advertised were not present (no shower- only a bath, no minibar, no aircon (fan instead) rationed coffee pods. Musty smelling room with stained carpet. The gardens could be beautiful but the lawns were unmown, with weeds growing up through the gravel, dead flowers in pots and a full ashtray left full of water on the bridge. The outside tables were dusty, and the rooms in a separate outbuilding, which had their own terraces, were full of weeds taking over-you certainly wouldn’t sit out there. Windows were filthy, with giant spiders webs on the top floor. Breakfast was dreadful, with old scrambled egg and flaccid hash browns, served by a grumpy waitress, who looked like she didn’t want to be there. Such a shame, because many issues could be sorted out in a week if the owners looked at their surroundings and saw the issues in front of them.
