The location and beauty of Vis a Vis is 10/10. Sestri is such a charming oittle fishing town and the hotel sits atop the hill perfectly overlooking the water. Very clean space however the pool vacuum is alwahs running during the day making it a bit difficult to enjoy that space with the cord running across the pool. Breakfast from the panoramic restaurant was also a great start to the day. We didn't have a chance to have dinner there though - next time for sure.

Exceptional staff, could not have been friendlier or more professional. Not a detail missed - even offering to make a breakfast box as I was catching a 7am train into C5 and thus missing the (spectacular) breakfast buffet. Room was lovely, everything worked and their designer clearly thought every detail through. Veranda was a real treat and gave a wonderful sense of space (all rooms have great views). Rooftop bar was amazing to watch the sunset over an aperitif/light food. “Destination” restaurant on the 4th floor has gourmet food and set menus if you’re looking for something really special - other options are available (although I might just stay on the rooftop!). Management clearly has inculcated the staff with an exceptional sense of service and care - you can sense if from the amazing front desk staff, restaurant service, ground keepers, house maids, towel service at the pool. Thrilled to have made this choice for access to, and to soak in, the Portofino coast and C5 area.

The hotel offers fantastic view of Sestri Levante. Bar, restaurant and pool facilities all good. We had issues with WiFi, shower door and size of room. Also an issue was a €12 charge per day for parking which was not mentioned at the start.

Hotel Vis-a-Vis is in a lovely location overlooking and walkable to Sestre Levante and its beaches. Hotel staff are helpful and courteous. The pool area is lovely. One downside is no irons are available (even to borrow from the front desk), which is something I have never experienced in a hotel. The hotel could also consider changing room keys to modern key cards versus clunky room keys, which are difficult to carry around, and making on-site parking free (versus EUR 15/night).

Room was a little small for the price we’d paid. My husband and I had to squeeze around one another (room 308). The views of bay of silence were lovely and the bed was comfy. Good selection for the breakfast and nice to be able to sit outside al fresco for breakfast with lovely views. The inside restaurant was also beautiful and had amazing views. The pool area was great, pool staff very attentive. Again lovely views from the pool area. There’s a side gate from the pool area down to the town which is a shortcut 5-7 min walk. You cannot take their beach towels to the beach, you have to pay €5 per day for special towels, which we felt was poor considering how much we had paid for the room. Drinks prices a little high, a Mocktail was €15 and a bottle of beer €9. Slightly disappointing on the checkout we asked if we could use their shuttle to go to the train station with our luggage, they never told us there was a fee for this service, so we’d assumed it was complimentary (as a lot of hotels offer a free shuttle). However it was €15 euros to go 5 mins down the road and the driver didn’t have any change, so we ended up paying €20. So we felt rather ripped off with that experience. Overall a nice hotel, but don’t feel it was worth what we paid

Vi ble veldig godt mottatt av resepsjonen og vi fikk veldig god informasjon om hotellet og Sestri Levante. Bagasjen ble plukket opp av concierge og bilen ble parkert for oss. (Heldigvis for oss for parkering er litt utfordrende på stedet). Resepsjonisten tok oss med på en rundtur på hotellet for å vise alt fra basseng til restaurant og andre tilbud der vi tilslutt endte opp ved rommet vårt. Vi fikk tips om å reservere bord ved restauranten når solen gikk ned. Vi reserverte bord og fikk med oss solnedgangen og den fantastiske panorama utsikten, den er ikke til å gå glipp av. Utsikten fra rommet var veldig bra og vi hadde balkong. Hotellet har privat strand hvor det koster €40 pr person, men du får seng, håndkle og parasoll. Det var nydelig med ingen store folkemasser ved stranden. Det eneste som var å utsette var at vi hørte lyder fra kjøkkenet til restauranten på rommet og at vi ikke følte at air conditionen ble kald nok.

Staff was amazing and the property is well situated in the city, easily walkable to shops, the beach and everything else. The pool is heated and there are incredible views from the pool, roof deck and restaurant areas.

Beautiful hotel, great views. Private garden.On top of hill, with elevator to street level, walk to old town and beach. Restaurant and drinks were $$$$.

My daughter and I had such a lovely time at Hotel Vis a Vis. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, the hotel was in a great location with amazing views and the lift to ground level was so handy. We loved the beach club and the surrounding area. Its just a shame we only had 3 days to stay.

The Vis a Vis has amazing views. Go to the bar for a drink. It’s not worth the price to stay there. It bills itself as a cruise ship on land. That’s true—the rooms are as tiny as cabins on a boat. And at least in my bathroom, there was mildew growing on the ceiling. Also, the toilet seat was misaligned, so you weren’t fully on the toilet when you sat on it. I expect more from a 4 star hotel. Additionally it’s really loud. Paper thin walls. Not great for light sleepers. And the spa is a complete joke. The facilities aren’t nice. I paid for a 90 minute sports massage. the masseuse seemed utterly clueless as to what she was doing. She spent about 5 minutes on my back, and then texted on her phone for a long time while mindlessly rubbing my left foot with her left hand. She also spent a weird amount of time rubbing my face. I didn’t sign up for a facial.

This is a beautifully maintained hotel. The rooms are large and updated. All of the staff except the waitress in the rooftop bar were wonderful. The breakfast is top notch plentiful and delicious. We will definitely be back in warmer weather!

Great location. Needs updating of facilities and infrastructure. Was built in the 60’s and it shows. Great staff and customer service.

L'hôtel jouit d'une situation magnifique et à elle seule elle devrait combler les hôtes, mais ... il y a un (ou même plusieurs) "mais" : - l'insonorisation entre les chambres et avec le couloir : malheur à ceux qui ont une chambre en face de l'ascenseur, ils pourront apprécier la dernière blague qui suscite un grand éclat de rire au moment d'aller se coucher! - la propreté au niveau de la piscine (eau trouble, vestiaire pas nettoyé depuis belle lurette, calcaire sur le lavabo et la robinetterie, ...) - des suppléments de prix difficilement acceptables au petit déjeuner (pas pour du caviar ;-) mais pour des oeufs au plat ou du saumon !) - et les petits détails qui n'ont pas d'importance en temps normal (linge de toilette déchiré, lunette des wc pas adaptée à la cuvette) ... nous connaissons cela car nous ne fréquentons pas que des 4 étoiles MAIS CE SONT DES CHOSES QUI PEUVENT DERANGER LORSQUE VOUS PAYEZ PLUS DE 400 EUROS LA CHAMBRE. Notre chambre "supérieure, balcon, vue mer" était par ailleurs un peu tristounette, on pourrait s'attendre à un peu plus de surface vu le prix et, si vous êtes comme nous au 2e étage, attendez-vous à voir plus la cime des arbres que la mer! A part ces remarques, le personnel est attentionné et la nourriture bonne. Bref, un hôtel bénéficiant d'une situation unique mais dont le prix des chambres devraient absolument être revu à la baisse.
L'hôtel jouit d'une situation magnifique et à elle seule elle devrait combler les hôtes, mais ... il y a un (ou même plusieurs) "mais" : - l'insonorisation entre les chambres et avec le couloir : malheur à ceux qui ont une chambre en face de l'ascenseur, ils pourront apprécier la dernière blague qui suscite un grand éclat de rire au moment d'aller se coucher! - la propreté au niveau de la piscine (eau trouble, vestiaire pas nettoyé depuis belle lurette, calcaire sur le lavabo et la robinetterie, ...) - des suppléments de prix difficilement acceptables au petit déjeuner (pas pour du caviar ;-) mais pour des oeufs au plat ou du saumon !) - et les petits détails qui n'ont pas d'importance en temps normal (linge de toilette déchiré, lunette des wc pas adaptée à la cuvette) ... nous connaissons cela car nous ne fréquentons pas que des 4 étoiles MAIS CE SONT DES CHOSES QUI PEUVENT DERANGER LORSQUE VOUS PAYEZ PLUS DE 400 EUROS LA CHAMBRE. Notre chambre "supérieure, balcon, vue mer" était par ailleurs un peu tristounette, on pourrait s'attendre à un peu plus de surface vu le prix et, si vous êtes comme nous au 2e étage, attendez-vous à voir plus la cime des arbres que la mer! A part ces remarques, le personnel est attentionné et la nourriture bonne. Bref, un hôtel bénéficiant d'une situation unique mais dont le prix des chambres devraient absolument être revu à la baisse.

The hotel offers fantastic view of Sestri Levante. Bar, restaurant and pool facilities all good. We had issues with WiFi, shower door and size of room. Also an issue was a €12 charge per day for parking which was not mentioned at the start.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit – leider war das auch schon das einzig Positive. Die Standardzimmer sind winzig, abgewohnt und mit durchgelegener Matratze, sodass wir kaum schlafen konnten. Das Frühstück ist lieblos, wird nicht nachgefüllt und bietet kaum Auswahl (Rührei ständig leer, Käse/Wurst sehr begrenzt). Tischdecken bis zum Boden wirkten unhygienisch. Außerdem kostet im Hotel wirklich alles extra: Strandhandtücher 5 €, Parkplatz 15 €/Tag, Sauna 20–30 € für 30 Minuten. Positiv war die Lage: alles ist bequem zu Fuß erreichbar.

The Vis a Vis has amazing views. Go to the bar for a drink. It’s not worth the price to stay there. It bills itself as a cruise ship on land. That’s true—the rooms are as tiny as cabins on a boat. And at least in my bathroom, there was mildew growing on the ceiling. Also, the toilet seat was misaligned, so you weren’t fully on the toilet when you sat on it. I expect more from a 4 star hotel. Additionally it’s really loud. Paper thin walls. Not great for light sleepers. And the spa is a complete joke. The facilities aren’t nice. I paid for a 90 minute sports massage. the masseuse seemed utterly clueless as to what she was doing. She spent about 5 minutes on my back, and then texted on her phone for a long time while mindlessly rubbing my left foot with her left hand. She also spent a weird amount of time rubbing my face. I didn’t sign up for a facial.

This is a beautifully maintained hotel. The rooms are large and updated. All of the staff except the waitress in the rooftop bar were wonderful. The breakfast is top notch plentiful and delicious. We will definitely be back in warmer weather!

We had a wonderful stay at Vis a vis! We stayed in a junior suite which was absolutely perfect, beautifully decorated, great spaces built in for storage, comfortable bed, and bedding, and a decent sized bathroom. We were pleasantly surprised to have a huge patio, which wasn’t shown in the photos for the room. The patio was the full length of the room and had multiple seating and lounger options outside. The staff at the hotel front desk were incredibly friendly. We also really enjoyed the complementary breakfast every morning, which had a very nice selection. The town square was just a short few minute walk from the hotel and had great restaurants and options for shopping. We also took the train to a few other locations along the coast. The train station was about a 10 minute walk and was very easy to figure out, with trains running very frequently up until midnight every night. The hotel even arranged a shuttle to take us to the train station with our luggage the day of our departure for $20 euro. This was quite helpful to not have to cart our luggage around town. We visited in early October, so this was the beginning of the slow season, but we enjoyed how calm the town was this time of year, and felt like we could really feel like locals there. If you’re looking for a great hotel in a quaint town away from the craziness of some of the bigger, touristy cities, this is a great spot!

Exceptional staff, could not have been friendlier or more professional. Not a detail missed - even offering to make a breakfast box as I was catching a 7am train into C5 and thus missing the (spectacular) breakfast buffet. Room was lovely, everything worked and their designer clearly thought every detail through. Veranda was a real treat and gave a wonderful sense of space (all rooms have great views). Rooftop bar was amazing to watch the sunset over an aperitif/light food. “Destination” restaurant on the 4th floor has gourmet food and set menus if you’re looking for something really special - other options are available (although I might just stay on the rooftop!). Management clearly has inculcated the staff with an exceptional sense of service and care - you can sense if from the amazing front desk staff, restaurant service, ground keepers, house maids, towel service at the pool. Thrilled to have made this choice for access to, and to soak in, the Portofino coast and C5 area.

Room was a little small for the price we’d paid. My husband and I had to squeeze around one another (room 308). The views of bay of silence were lovely and the bed was comfy. Good selection for the breakfast and nice to be able to sit outside al fresco for breakfast with lovely views. The inside restaurant was also beautiful and had amazing views. The pool area was great, pool staff very attentive. Again lovely views from the pool area. There’s a side gate from the pool area down to the town which is a shortcut 5-7 min walk. You cannot take their beach towels to the beach, you have to pay €5 per day for special towels, which we felt was poor considering how much we had paid for the room. Drinks prices a little high, a Mocktail was €15 and a bottle of beer €9. Slightly disappointing on the checkout we asked if we could use their shuttle to go to the train station with our luggage, they never told us there was a fee for this service, so we’d assumed it was complimentary (as a lot of hotels offer a free shuttle). However it was €15 euros to go 5 mins down the road and the driver didn’t have any change, so we ended up paying €20. So we felt rather ripped off with that experience. Overall a nice hotel, but don’t feel it was worth what we paid

We loved our stay at Hotel Vis a Vis. The views from this hotel are spectacular, the rooms were a bit small but perfectly fine for what we needed and the staff were amazing, very attentive. Sestri is such a beautiful town and I’d highly recommend this hotel if you’re staying there. It’s walking distance to the town and beaches and makes it a convenient location. However if you’re more of a pool person the pool looks over sestri to portofino it was one of the best views from a hotel we’ve ever had. Thank you Hotel Vis a Vis for making our honeymoon so special!

Hotel Vis a Vis was absolutely beautiful, the view was spectacular from every angle , the outdoor snack bar to the restaurant to our room was a wow factor , the staff are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate your every need. I highly recommend and will definitely be coming back .

Hotel Vis a Vis was our first stop on our honeymoon. Everything was perfect, the staff were so friendly and incredible, breakfast was amazing, and the location was absolutely perfect! The bar manager Andrea Carnevale absolutely amazing. Even if you don't stay here, be sure to visit the Deck Zeus for one of his famous cocktails! We couldn't thank you enough. We will be back!

The restaurant staff for breakfast service were extremely kind and helpful, Lara was so accommodating and hard working and the morning manager was also very gracious and welcoming! We had an exceptional stay! Front desk staff were also wonderful! Thank you

Vi ble veldig godt mottatt av resepsjonen og vi fikk veldig god informasjon om hotellet og Sestri Levante. Bagasjen ble plukket opp av concierge og bilen ble parkert for oss. (Heldigvis for oss for parkering er litt utfordrende på stedet). Resepsjonisten tok oss med på en rundtur på hotellet for å vise alt fra basseng til restaurant og andre tilbud der vi tilslutt endte opp ved rommet vårt. Vi fikk tips om å reservere bord ved restauranten når solen gikk ned. Vi reserverte bord og fikk med oss solnedgangen og den fantastiske panorama utsikten, den er ikke til å gå glipp av. Utsikten fra rommet var veldig bra og vi hadde balkong. Hotellet har privat strand hvor det koster €40 pr person, men du får seng, håndkle og parasoll. Det var nydelig med ingen store folkemasser ved stranden. Det eneste som var å utsette var at vi hørte lyder fra kjøkkenet til restauranten på rommet og at vi ikke følte at air conditionen ble kald nok.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit – leider war das auch schon das einzig Positive. Die Standardzimmer sind winzig, abgewohnt und mit durchgelegener Matratze, sodass wir kaum schlafen konnten. Das Frühstück ist lieblos, wird nicht nachgefüllt und bietet kaum Auswahl (Rührei ständig leer, Käse/Wurst sehr begrenzt). Tischdecken bis zum Boden wirkten unhygienisch. Außerdem kostet im Hotel wirklich alles extra: Strandhandtücher 5 €, Parkplatz 15 €/Tag, Sauna 20–30 € für 30 Minuten. Positiv war die Lage: alles ist bequem zu Fuß erreichbar.

Hotel Vis a Vis was our first stop on our honeymoon. Everything was perfect, the staff were so friendly and incredible, breakfast was amazing, and the location was absolutely perfect! The bar manager Andrea Carnevale absolutely amazing. Even if you don't stay here, be sure to visit the Deck Zeus for one of his famous cocktails! We couldn't thank you enough. We will be back!

Hotel Vis-a-Vis is in a lovely location overlooking and walkable to Sestre Levante and its beaches. Hotel staff are helpful and courteous. The pool area is lovely. One downside is no irons are available (even to borrow from the front desk), which is something I have never experienced in a hotel. The hotel could also consider changing room keys to modern key cards versus clunky room keys, which are difficult to carry around, and making on-site parking free (versus EUR 15/night).

Room was a little small for the price we’d paid. My husband and I had to squeeze around one another (room 308). The views of bay of silence were lovely and the bed was comfy. Good selection for the breakfast and nice to be able to sit outside al fresco for breakfast with lovely views. The inside restaurant was also beautiful and had amazing views. The pool area was great, pool staff very attentive. Again lovely views from the pool area. There’s a side gate from the pool area down to the town which is a shortcut 5-7 min walk. You cannot take their beach towels to the beach, you have to pay €5 per day for special towels, which we felt was poor considering how much we had paid for the room. Drinks prices a little high, a Mocktail was €15 and a bottle of beer €9. Slightly disappointing on the checkout we asked if we could use their shuttle to go to the train station with our luggage, they never told us there was a fee for this service, so we’d assumed it was complimentary (as a lot of hotels offer a free shuttle). However it was €15 euros to go 5 mins down the road and the driver didn’t have any change, so we ended up paying €20. So we felt rather ripped off with that experience. Overall a nice hotel, but don’t feel it was worth what we paid

Staff was amazing and the property is well situated in the city, easily walkable to shops, the beach and everything else. The pool is heated and there are incredible views from the pool, roof deck and restaurant areas.

My daughter and I had such a lovely time at Hotel Vis a Vis. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, the hotel was in a great location with amazing views and the lift to ground level was so handy. We loved the beach club and the surrounding area. Its just a shame we only had 3 days to stay.

This is a beautifully maintained hotel. The rooms are large and updated. All of the staff except the waitress in the rooftop bar were wonderful. The breakfast is top notch plentiful and delicious. We will definitely be back in warmer weather!

Exceptional staff, could not have been friendlier or more professional. Not a detail missed - even offering to make a breakfast box as I was catching a 7am train into C5 and thus missing the (spectacular) breakfast buffet. Room was lovely, everything worked and their designer clearly thought every detail through. Veranda was a real treat and gave a wonderful sense of space (all rooms have great views). Rooftop bar was amazing to watch the sunset over an aperitif/light food. “Destination” restaurant on the 4th floor has gourmet food and set menus if you’re looking for something really special - other options are available (although I might just stay on the rooftop!). Management clearly has inculcated the staff with an exceptional sense of service and care - you can sense if from the amazing front desk staff, restaurant service, ground keepers, house maids, towel service at the pool. Thrilled to have made this choice for access to, and to soak in, the Portofino coast and C5 area.

Beautiful hotel with the most breathtaking views in the area. We stayed in the classic suite for 2 nights, which although outdated and on the small side was comfortable and suffice for a short stay. The staff and the atmosphere on the rooftop bar has a very relaxed vibe and the sunset from there is memorable. Sadly we found the restaurant on the 4th floor on the stiff side and also dated with average cuisine. We never noticed the other restaurant just below the pool area until the day we were departing, it looked more relaxed and updated. Unfortunately we did not get to use the pool but it looked amazing. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend Hotel Vis á Vis.

Hotel Vis a Vis is absolutely gorgeous! I am truly overwhelmed with its beauty and the amazing staff. The front desk staff are so welcoming with outstanding customer service. The view from the rooftop is beyond imagination-one of the most beautiful views in Italy. Maurizio at the restaurant is just incredible. The food delicious. Due to train strike , Laura arranged Khalid to drive me to Rapollo. She and he have outstanding care for the customer, along with Maurizio, entire front desk, bar manager and staff-everyone truly above n beyond!

Small rooms,no space to put your belongings. No beach belongs to the hotel. They have a private beach,but you have to walk 5- 7 minutes to the beach and pay €40 per person for entrance. Good ,but not excellent breakfast buffet. If you want fried eggs you have to pay for it. You have to pay for the shuttle from the hotel. At the reception they are asking for tips upon check out. Good about the hotel-they are allowing you to use the swimming pool upon check out. You can keep your luggage at the storage room. You can use amenities even after check put .

The hotel itself is beautiful, with a lovely setting and a very nice pool area. I genuinely enjoyed many aspects of my stay. I especially want to mention the staff around the pool and the housekeeping team. They were warm, friendly, and very helpful, and made the hotel feel very welcoming. Unfortunately, the main downside was the bed. The mattress in my room was extremely hard and uncomfortable – one of the most uncomfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in. I slept very poorly because of it. I did mention this to the hotel, and they provided a mattress topper, which I appreciated. It helped slightly, but I could still feel the hardness of the mattress underneath, and my sleep remained poor. This had a noticeable impact on my stay, especially as this was a holiday I had been looking forward to and invested significant time and money in. Overall, there is a lot to like about this hotel, but a comfortable bed and a good night’s sleep are essential. I hope the hotel considers upgrading the mattresses, as this would make a big difference to the guest experience.
