It’s a chain hotel, expected nothing less. However basic cleaning is to ensure the sheets are clean and not stained. Towels were rough and cheap. Expected better.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The view of the Parthenon from the restaurant and pool, at night, is absolutely beautiful. The shower in the room is large. The location requires transportation to the shopping and Acropolis areas.

Great View, Disappointing Stay Unfortunately, our stay at the Grand Hyatt Athens did not live up to the name or price. Check-in was unnecessarily frustrating. We checked in early, then later had to wait in the check-in line all over again just to pick up our keys. A separate key-pickup line would be a simple solution. A bellman told us this has been an ongoing issue for years and was an “ownership” rather than management issue. The rooftop restaurant has a spectacular nighttime view of the Parthenon, but that was the highlight. Our $150 meal arrived cold, my burger bun was so hard it was like a crouton, service was extremely slow, and requested condiments never arrived. We had to ask for the check and then awkwardly handle the tip prompt while the server stood at the table. Our shower was missing the sliding holder that positions the handheld showerhead at a normal height. The rain shower had very little water volume, and areas around the shower door appeared poorly cleaned. The rooftop elevator also stopped working and displayed “FR,” which we were told meant fire, although no alarm sounded. We eventually gave up and walked back to our room. Breakfast eggs were good and the rooftop view is beautiful, but overall the hotel simply did not feel welcoming. For a Grand Hyatt, we expected much better. This experience was disappointing enough that we would think twice before choosing another Grand Hyatt in the future.

Everything was just okay about the hotel and rooms. Found the lobby to be very small and very dark and always way too crowded. Check in constantly had a long line and took forever as did the elevators so we always took the stairs. The rooftop pool was a nice amenity but otherwise it wasnt for us.

Good: Unlike other hotels, we were able to book connecting rooms. Rooms a decent size and room service good and quick. Easy access to town (in taxi). One of a few hotels we could find with a pool. Bad: Queues for everything. Never managed to go to the rooftop pool - always busy with instagrammers (not sure if they were staying). Breakfast average and v busy. Ugly: 4 lifts for 500+ rooms so long waits (esp at breakfast and check-out times). Someone else’s flip flops under the bed. Easy to trap fingers in bathroom sliding door. Lobby a free-for-all and no security (inc for lifts / stairs) despite location (busy road, strip clubs opposite).
