Positives Haddington House is situated in an excellent location with wonderful views from the front of the hotel. All of the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The terrace seating area is well-organised and a lovely place to sit for a drink or a meal. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. Wifi was fine and connection was straightforward. Less than positive It would have been nice to know before we booked that renovations to the hotel were happening during our day. As it was, we could not have a room with a view over the bay, and the workmen started hammering at 8am on our first morning. The TV was tiny and fixed high up in the corner of the room and could not be seen clearly. Also, the TV reception was via aerial and was intermittent and very poor with limited options for channels. I tried to use the room telephone to contact Reception to ask for a fan, but it did not work so I went down to the front desk. There was no lock on the bathroom door. The wardrobe was old and not fit for purpose eg the bottom shelf fell off because it did not have four props to hold it in place, and the rail for hanging clothes was from back to front instead of from side to side. Summary Wonderful location and staff, but a very 'tired' hotel. Certainly not good value for money given that it cost £374.53 (€431.98) for a double room only (no breakfast).
