The hotel was busy, but some of the staff were not as friendly as they were in the past. Also the now-paid parking is a nightmare. That parking garage needs to be ripped out and restarted, also consider places to park in front of the hotel. Breakfast and breakfast staff as wonderful as ever!

Great breakfast, staff really good, lovely view whilst having breakfast. Hotel is very clean If you like to swim lengths, the swimming pool is not designed for it, due to the bottom of the pool sloping up on all four sides, if you just want to relax it’s perfect!

Paid £4 per day for parking. Space not always available. Should be separate spaces for scooters and motor bikes as they took up the space of a car but only 2 bikes in the large car space.

We had a wonderful time. All of the staff were so helpful and made sure our stay was out of this world. Yes the hotel needs some updating but they are starting to update the rooms 1 by 1. The swimming pool is in need of some tlc and we could not use the sauna or jacuzzi as they were locked and were not accessible. However the food was to die for and as I said the service was amazing and made up for the small downsides. Overall had a really good girly week away with my friend.

Very friendly hotel staff. The hotel is showing its age, but good value for money and prime location. Good breakfast selection. No other meals served in the hotel but the adjoining restaurant, which is Pan Asian, cooked steak and chips on request. Small pool was ok, but no steam room, sauna or jacussi. Pool changing rooms smelt damp.

Had a lovely few nights and it is a lovely hotel. A couple of points though: Parking is limited and the car park very tight. Had a DJ playing music on the Saturday night..was far too loud and he seemed to be playing for himself not the guests..never heard anything like it. Went to sit in the lobby and still deafened so asked if we could shut the door into the bar. Compromised by shutting half the door as the manager wanted to entice restaurant customers into the bar..well guess what..they all took one look and hastily left! In complete contrast there was a fantastic singer on the night before..was pitched just right for guests in the bar.

The property was very convenient to everything. The ammenities are becoming a little tired. Also they say a self service laundry is available !!! Unfortunately there isn’t one, and hasn’t been for over 2 years. So that needs to be corrected.

Hotel was welcoming, clean rooms. All staff was very pleasant.We had a room overlooking the Aqua garden (instead of a sea view). A very pleasant outlook. The swimming pool is a weird design, slopes in from all sides. Breakfast was buffet style, with a good selection. On the first evening, we dined in the Bonsai Pan Asian restaurant, although not run by the hotel, it is accessible through the hotel lobby. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, the food was excellent but a bit pricey.

Nice, but dated hotel, friendly staff and a very good breakfast. Shame the booking site doesn’t point out the pool is being refurbished. Good central location, the hotel parking is a tight squeeze, but there is a multi storey close by.

The hotel's position on the promenade was good and handy for the ferry. It has a small car park underneath the hotel which operates on a first come first served basis. We found it difficult to find restaurants outside of the hotels. The few we found were not open on a Monday or Tuesday.

The hotel is old and has character. Room 221 is spacious but the two windows look out onto a one metre square 'inner space' which means no view at all. The bathroom is massive with a shower and bath but the shower is stainef orange and black with mould and fungi so we didn't use it didn't look sanitary. The website states daily housekeeping but that is open to interpretation. Given it as 4 star hotel you would hope the room would be made up daily; after all we went away for rest and relaxation. However there is a laminated notice placer carefully oon the bed stating rooms are serviced every 3 days which happened to be the length of our stay so wenever received te service. The reasoing is said to be so staff oonly enter the room on limited occasions but you can ring them for tea bags etc. In essence the room quality in terms of maintainance and the provision was 3 star without question, but the staff themselves and the food were 4 star. Poteentially a lovely stay but not as anticipated.

The Sefton looks wonderful from the outside and is quirky inside. There is a shortage of staff so your room is only serviced on the third full day of your stay and you have to hang a sign on your door or this won't happen at all, however you can ask at reception for fresh towels, tea, coffee etc. The interior of the hotel is dated and repairs are needed. Our bathroom on the 4th floor smelt terrible due to the drains and we were advised to keep our taps running which did help to alleviate the odour. The atrium is a nice feature although you can see into everyone's room from the balcony and conversations echo which make it quite noisy at times. There is no air conditioning and it is very hot and stuffy on the 4th floor, just like being in an airless conservatory. We found a fan in the room which we had on max speed the whole time. The swimming pool is strange, it has sloping edges on every side so not much room or depth to swim without banging your kneees and the changing rooms smell of very bad drains. Despite all this we really enjoyed our stay! The staff were very polite and helpful, the breakfast was wonderful and the location excellent.

The atrium room was spacious, spotless, well supplied with soft towels and toiletries. Good supply of tea, coffee, water and biscuits. Room was warm and bed comfortable. The desk staff and night Watchman , on arrival, were always welcoming and helpful.

Two false fire alarm evacuations during the night on different days in a 5 day period. No apology letter or communication from Management. There is a padlock on the sauna, plants on the whirlpool and tape on some tiles around pool. No a/c to the airless rooms facing the atrium as there are no windows to open. Very hot at night and the fan is not good enough. Our room was next to a fire door which banged shut loudly every time it was opened and closed. Never sat on the atrium balcony as the bucket seats have seen better days and everyone is facing each other. Very 1950's holiday camp design. Rooms are cleaned every 3 days unless you request it-not acceptable for the room rate nor is the awful paint stripper of a soap/shampoo dispenser. Overall, terrible sleep and couldn't wait to go home! Will not be returning. However, the staff were lovely.

Spent four nights at the Sefton. Location is good with a bus stop right outside. Walkable in Douglas shopping area. Had room facing the internal atrium, so no outside view. Room very warm and although a fan was provided it didn't cool the room down. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious as was the bathroom but was rather dated.

Excellent hotel. Clean and comfortable. Great seafront location. Good breakfast choice. Small swimming pool. Only small downside...my room was noisy when windows open due to extractor fans working 24 hours below.

Excellent location for the ferry and local bars and restaurants. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean. The atrium balconies were a surprise as that is exactly what they are, looking into a covered atrium so no actual outside windows. Breakfast was a buffet, well stocked and plenty of choice. Staff were very helpful and friendly, giving good advice on where to visit and eat.

Everything about the hotel was great. Only problem we had, it was too warm. Our room faced the central part and there was no flow of air. It wouldnt stop us going back but we would chose a room with a window that opened to the outside

This is a beautiful building with high ceilings and big rooms. It’s a bit dated, but the location, quality of breakfast and secure working WiFi by far outweigh this. The central atrium is beautiful. Sir Norman’s bar attached is stylish and serves delicious food. The Asian dishes I tried were excellent. I’d definitely stay here again.

Conveniently located with a friendly staff. We stayed in the front (older) section of the hotel with a courtyard facing room, which was adequate. It was particularly warm during our stay and the hotel lacks air conditioning but, we did OK with a fan that was in the room. The breakfast was very plentiful with a traditional Irish Breakfast and continental breakfast offerings.

Room was cold, especially at night. Being an atrium room (no outside window) it was dark and claustrophobic. Atrium doors didn’t close properly. Swimming pool very small and very shallow,more like a paddling pool. Impossible to swim. Depth at a small point in the middle which fanned upwards towards edges. Not for swimming or for more than, say, 2 people. Not told at time of booking building works were in progress. Buffet breakfast although plentiful was overcooked. Fully refundable booking. Checked out following day before 11am due to being unable to go for a swim (went for the pool) but they refused refund for following 2 nights. Hotel seemed almost empty. Main bar shut, just pricey Asian Restaurant open for meals and drinks - but we don’t like Asian food.

Friendly staff, room spotless and good choice at breakfast. Docking a single star as the atrium room in which we were staying did get quite hot, but there was a fan available to help offset that a bit.

The hotel was busy, but some of the staff were not as friendly as they were in the past. Also the now-paid parking is a nightmare. That parking garage needs to be ripped out and restarted, also consider places to park in front of the hotel. Breakfast and breakfast staff as wonderful as ever!

Couldn't fault the breakfast, lots to choose from. The room was very clean and was very impressed with the size of the bathroom. All the staff throughout the hotel were super friendly. Would definitely stay there again

The customer service was absolutely brilliant. Proper good old fashioned cant do enough for yoi service. Charlotte was fabulous at looking after us and understanding our situation and helping us. He colleague was also great and both were very friendly and accomodating. The location is perfect and the poolwas a treat x the evening girls were lovely too gave us recommendations of where to go we went to both. Thank you for a povely stay and i would love to come back in the summer.

Margaret on reception and Anthony the night manager really went out of there way to make our stay perfect. There was 2 other staff on reception that I can't recall there names but they were excellent too. Thank you so much and see you in April

Excellent stay at the Sefton. Friendly efficient staff on reception with a simple check in. Breakfast each day was very good and staff very attentive- lovely seafront views. Stayed in the atrium which was lovely and had everything you would need. It did prove a little warm at nights and needed to open the balcony door for air. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to stay again.

Staff were very friendly. Our flight was early and breakfast had not opened, but we were ok to get cereals, toast, hot drinks etc - great service, you don't get that at the Premier Inn.

The Sefton is a grand building toward the town centre end of the promenade and about 10 minutes walk from the Sea Terminal and buses to and from the airport stop close by, so very convenient. Check in was smooth. I booked an atrium room which was quiet, modern but not bland. Good bathroom, living area with a balcony. The room was clean and in good order, regular top ups in the tea/ coffee dept; along with complimentary bottled water. The bed was rather firm I thought but I slept well. Breakfast was excellent with a self serve selection and porridge and Manx kippers on request. The pool was a bonus and clean and warm. Some of the stair carpeting is a little worn but it would cost a fortune to replace whilst still serviceable. Would I stay at this hotel again? Certainly. The staff were all so welcoming, icing on the cake. Many thanks.

The atrium balconies were a surprise as that is exactly what they are, looking into a covered atrium so no actual outside windows. Breakfast was a buffet, well stocked and plenty of choice. Staff were very helpful and friendly, giving good advice on where to visit and eat.

The hotel was located to everything you need. Easy 15 minute walk to High Street, walking distance to Manx Electric Railway (North) and Steam Railway (South). Best to get a Go Explore Card, if you have not got a car.

Had a lovely stay at the Sefton. Its right on the promenade, easy for all the amenities that Douglas and the Isle of Man has to offer. Right by a bus stop where buses can take you around the Island or to and from the airport. Also near to the Steam train, Electric train and the horse driven tram. Perfect location

The hotel's position on the promenade was good and handy for the ferry. It has a small car park underneath the hotel which operates on a first come first served basis. We found it difficult to find restaurants outside of the hotels. The few we found were not open on a Monday or Tuesday.

The attitude of the staff was to always go the extra mile with a friendly smile. Absence of a chef and therefore no provision to provide meals for guests. There is however a Thai restaurant but not everyone likes this sort of of food.

This is a beautiful building with high ceilings and big rooms. It’s a bit dated, but the location, quality of breakfast and secure working WiFi by far outweigh this. The central atrium is beautiful. Sir Norman’s bar attached is stylish and serves delicious food. The Asian dishes I tried were excellent. I’d definitely stay here again.

Excellent location near shops, eating places and attractions. The Atrium was unique and it was wonderful having a balcony overlooking the courtyard. Superb breakfast and would Bonzai, the restaurant attached to the botel.

Old style ‘proper’ hotel. Room was spacious if a little dated. Breakfast wasn’t great unfortunately. Hard over cooked eggs that would have bounced, and sausages needed a sharper knife to cut! Then again I have never had a hotel buffet style breakfast that was any different. Apart from that, lovely stylish old school’proper’ Hotel. Lovely staff and ambience, and good price for one night on Expedia, and £30 cheaper than booking directly with hotel which is a shame. Would stay again tho. Very convenient for Douglas.

A lovely hotel. Breakfasts were excellent with a very extensive menu. The swimming pool was beautiful. We had a very large balcony overlooking the atrium. There were free water bottles daily and a good sized fridge. A very central location. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Hotel was welcoming, clean rooms. All staff was very pleasant.We had a room overlooking the Aqua garden (instead of a sea view). A very pleasant outlook. The swimming pool is a weird design, slopes in from all sides. Breakfast was buffet style, with a good selection. On the first evening, we dined in the Bonsai Pan Asian restaurant, although not run by the hotel, it is accessible through the hotel lobby. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, the food was excellent but a bit pricey.

Carpets and furniture very tired. Carpets quite dirty in places of high footfall. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Not a lot of interaction with the staff. They spoke when spoken too. On checking out, we were not asked if we had a good time or thanked for staying in the hotel. However as we were leaving very early on the morning of our departure we were able to collect a pre-ordered lunch bag, from Reception, filled with plenty of food and bottle of water. Great location for ferry terminal, town and promenade. Limited parking at the hotel but we managed to get a space each evening.
