Selva Boutique Hotel - Luquillo Oceanfront Retreat - Adults Only

Unfortunately this was not a pleasant stay at all..we weren’t there long before we booked an alternative hotel and moved the next day. Firstly - there was no staff when we got there. The room did smell like it had been cleaned and was tidy but the smell of disinfectant was really strong therefore not pleasant. The hotel was really dated and the front door of the hotel was like an old UPVC door that did not shut properly or lock and with no reception staff, we just didn’t feel particularly safe during the night therefore didn’t sleep well, although that may also have been due to the small hard bed we were on. You could hear everything outside the room and I heard a guest tell who I assume was the cleaner that he had cut himself pretty badly on something from his bathroom and there was a lot of blood (on the towels). This made me uneasy as to what he cut himself on as it sounded like it was something from the room, not his stuff. Our showers hot water tap only worked if you turned the cold tap enough therefore making the shower cold. And when I went to dispense the soap, the dispenser broke. Safe to say we were up and out before 9am and moved to a different hotel/location which allowed us to salvage the last part of our trip. I get it’s a 2 star place and maybe my expectations were too high but for what we paid, it just didn’t reflect the experience. I’m just gutted I didn’t realise until it was too late and wasted our money.

Extremely comfortable bed! Easy check-in Good parking arrangement. Gritty neighborhood but good location No coffee cups in the morning - coffee is a simple touch but pretty darned necessary!

Staff is non-existent, breakfast was an empty pot of coffee and a breakfast bar and random cat meowing throughout the hallway most of the night. The hotel is on the water but it’s all rocks and you can’t get close. It was ok for our purpose of using a place to sleep but not hang around the property.

Not the Value for money I thought it would be. The walk to the kiosks is close (15min) Room was not great. Bed hard. TV didnt work. There is better out there.

No direct beach access but still a very short walk. Nice view of ocean and pool. No microwave or vending machine for drinks. Nice if you are looking for a private, quiet getaway. Close driving distance to the Luquillo Kiosko.
