Penthouse - Spa-Inspired Guest Suite, Halifax Rooftop Home

We had a beautiful stay! Wonderful amenities. So relaxing. We will be back!

We used the sauna and it was great. We had trouble opening front door. Took us a few tries before we got it. Needs some handy work done on doors. Too many stairs for us. Would have liked a door on our bathroom. The small handle in shower needs tightening as was very loose. Not to our liking.

We arrived shortly after 3pm and were greeted by a hostess in pyjamas. The penthouse was beautiful, but There was duct tape on lots of the ceiling, a drip that dripped brown liquid into the bathroom vanity. We had to remove the drain with a butter knife in the tub. It was a bit strange. The sauna controls are falling off of the wall. I tried to turn on the shower accessories hose and the knob fell off. Along with that, one of the knobs to the tub is clearly broken and repaired poorly, allowing no control of one side of the jets. The patio was great but some deck furniture would have been nice to enjoy the space. The hot tub was nice and hot but we couldn’t figure out the controls (lights and jets) and we enjoyed the outdoor sauna. When we were in the common space there was loads of laundry on the island, and the hostess was eating supper and on face time. We made our breakfast requests for 9:00. We came down and there was no one there but other guests. I reached out at 9:30 to ask if we should expect her, or go elsewhere. She told us she was stuck in traffic.. We made an espresso, but We opened the almond milk and it was so rotten the plastic lid was rotting off of the carton. There was juice in the fridge that expired in February (it’s March 29) there was not enough cream for two coffees. We opted out of our late check in to get out of there. The chef/hostess never responded to me when I texted her back about the delay. There is a live in host that never came to let us know

The staff was great but the property needs some love. There was a broken door handle leading out to the backyard hot tub area, the bed was ok but a bit creaky.

This is an excellent property that has been allowed to get run down. The batteries operating the window shades were expired. The shower control comes off on your hands, etc., etc. The property's entrance is not marked. It is actually a fourth floor walk up. The person looking after the place, was sweet, but not really capable in English. With a little work, this could easily be a 4 star property. It is a shame to see it neglected.

We stayed in the penthouse suite and had a personal hot tub, sauna, double balcony, and breakfast delivered to the room each morning. Beautiful, modern, clean, and affordable for what you get. We highly recommend dinner at Bar Kismet nearby.

The doors were basically all broken. Or very tight. We had the King suite and wanted to enjoy the fireworks in the distance that was happening for a local event that could easily be seen but all the furniture was soaked by a hose earlier and the whole deck was sprayed down so the rooftop was not useable at all. Which was disappointing because for the money that was a desire of ours to chill out up there and use the fire table with fireworks in the distance. The table was covered and full of tinfoil when we lifted the cover and the furniture was completely drenched by the hose eajust after supper which rendered us SOL to use any of it. Why she chose to clean it then leaves me wondering. It was a gorgeous evening and it hadn’t rained a drop all day. When we were leaving to go for supper water started hitting our windshield just to discover the cleaner was spraying everything on the roof with a hose. And the water was coming down onto our car. I’m glad we closed the sunroof earlier. Anyway, the pictures make this place seem high, high end but it is a good from far, far from good situation. We got locked out a couple times because the main entrance door lock system is broken and the other guests were luckily there to let us in. They need to do some big repairs and upkeep to keep charging what they are. Dami was very nice but she is stuck doing only what she can with what appears is zero help from the owners. Hotel next time for us.

The breakfast was delicious and made especially for us to fit our dietary needs. We had some trouble with the shower, tub and motorized blinds but it wasn't a huge deal.

If you rent the Penthouse, be aware you will have to carry up your luggage. There are two flights of stairs to enter the building and another two to reach the Penthouse. This is not made clear in the description. One of the Hosts was kind enough to carry our bags for us (maybe because of our age). The breakfasts were meagre and some of the fare was outdated. The Penthouse could use a couple of small garbage cans, A TV, a writing desk and chair and MOST OF ALL A NEW BED!! It's an old memory foam that has lost it's memory completely. We slept in deep canals with great discomfort. The doors to the balconies off the Penthouse don't lock and the balconies weren't clean. On the positive side they offer two charging stations for EV's and it is a great location. Until the many negative comments we and others have made in previous reviews are corrected, WE WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN.

The shower didn’t work for two days. Staff entered without permission and left the door open. A staff member ruined our laundry. Breakfast was poor. One female staff member wore extremely inappropriate clothing. Totally unacceptable, especially with a 5-year-old child. Not recommended.

Cleaner was still cleaning our room and bringing things in after our check in time. We got late check out approved arranged for pick up and then got told we had to be out even though we already had the approval. We ended up having to park in a parkade U mins away and ubering over and back.

Unique apartment. Clean room, good location. Large windows.Nice common area

Patio doors didn’t shut properly leaving the main area freezing. No heat control in the bedroom, the minisplit didn’t work. Bedding was soiled and no bathroom privacy.

All the doors, inside and out, were difficult to open, or broken, the bathroom was also home to the boiler at head-hitting height, and the washer / dryer. There was no where to place your clothes in the bathroom. The towels had not been laundered properly and smelt funky. The complimentary coffee bar only supplied one coffee at breakfast. The walls and ceiling were thin and we were woken at 3:30 am by loud noises from the room above. Positives were, the bed was surprisingly comfy for a simple metal frame bed, the location was quiet and suburban and they did make efforts to accommodate our gluten intolerance. The one cup of coffee we got was very nice too!

The room reminds me of a jail cell as there is no separation of the toilet or shower from the room. If you’d like to poop in peace don’t stay here as your options are to use the downstairs powder room. Had a terrible night sleep as you can hear everything and the person on the squeaky bed the floor above us. This is not a typical bed and breakfast. The instructions told us the host would be here until 5pm and we arrived at 4:45 and had to learn about the house ourselves. Instructions said our names would be on the room doors and nothing. The mattress feels like a futon on a steel frame that is also noisy.

Privacy in a double room when using the toilet would be stellar , even a curtain

The walls and ceiling were thin and we were woken at 3:30 am by loud noises from the room above. Positives were, the bed was surprisingly comfy for a simple metal frame bed, the location was quiet and suburban and they did make efforts to accommodate our gluten intolerance. The one cup of coffee we got was very nice too!

Amazing stay at the Rooftop! My room was very cozy with lots of space. The team onsite are great as well :) I will be telling all my friends about this place!

The air conditioning in our room was not working. We let the manager know but to no avail. On the hottest days of the year, we did not have working AC for the four days we were there. The shower didn't work properly either & leaked everywhere causing the bath mat to be soaked the whole time. The place said it was a B & B, we gave up on the "breakfast" after 2 days. Luckily there is a Pur n Simple within easy driving for a proper breakfast. Overall, we were only happy with the location.
