Motel 6 Classic Galveston, TX Beach-Seawall

Stay was good; hotel in the middle of remodeling. Our room was one that had been recently remodeled, room was clean, smells good comfortable, A/C worked well, clean bedding & quiet after 7p.m. There was no working television; they notified us when we checked in that the cable is out due to remodel, but they didnt mention that the televisions dont work at all, so couldnt even catch local news/weather or use our adapter to hook to phone to watch movies on our own account. The new light fixtures had no bulbs, so none of the bedside lamps worked, nor the lamps over the bathroom sink. The light switch outlet covers were missing and live electrical wires were left exposed (we had 4adults, so we were careful, but if we had had any of our kids, it could have been extrmely dangerous!) The bathroom door did not stay closed, it was hung improperly so that the latching mechanism didnt meet up in the door jam, so we had to put a washcloth in the door jam to get it to stay closed during use. Because of remodel, there were supplies everywhere in the parking lot and I picked up nails and screws everytime I walked through, needs to be cleaned up daily since they are using parking spots and that not only could cause a flat, but many coming back from beach not wearing shoes and someone will end up with nail/screw in the bottom of a foot. We like the location and price point of the rooms so we will likely stay again, but hopefully the remodel will be complete& the small issues resolved!

The parking sucked they let the cruise people park there not enoug parking

Property is under renovations at time. Even though the room was clean and staff was great. It would have been great if expedia would have mentioned it before I made reservations.

Staff were great. Clean comfortable room. Parking was an issue but understandable due to construction.

Didn't like anything. No hot water, half of outlets didnt work, dirty carpet. Dont understand $50 security deposit. No breakfast, bad parking, dirty pool, should be removed until renovation is complete

Property was under renovation, construction debris in parking lot, pool was unusable due to dirty water, tv’s in rooms did not work. Overall feeling was like being in a room that had not been updated in 30 years. Housekeeping did not touch room during our stay. Upside is that staff were friendly but issues we faced were beyond their control. A/C worked well and room was quiet.

We love going to Motel 6 on the seawall. Its very close to dining options, walkable. Its pretty quiet there though the traffic can be loud some times. The staff is friendly and the pool is nice.

Poor signage, difficult for uber drver to find. Renovations.

They are doing major construction. Parking lot full of equipment and holes. Carpet in the room coming up around edges, missing in pkaces. Toilet did not flush properly.

Room was fine, comfy bed. Front desk lady was very helpful with information. Complimentary parking for the duration of our cruise a very big plus!

This hotel smelled so bad we had to by Lysol to even sleep one night in it. The beds looked dirty, the carpet, and the restroom wasn’t cleaned properly. Never again.

Dirty floor that turned the bottoms of our feet black.

Rooms were dirty, holes in the wall, exposed electrical outlets, mold, every bit of 50-80 flies in the room hair from previous stays all in the corners from not being cleaned this was also their “newly remodeled room”

This property should be closed down until fully remodeled, limited rooms which are not cleaned or updated. My room 217 had roaches dead and alive, mold, and a cracked broken floor in the bathroom and old rusted out fridge. Motel 6 should be ashamed for buying this property.

It was awful. Nothing on Orbitz said it was under construction and completely unsafe to be at. Cigarette burns on the bed and 1 major support column was damaged and looked like it was going to fall. Constantly loud people outside my door People sitting on the hood of my car Power outages Wifi was up and down by the minute and useless When wifi did work, speed was super slow No pressure in shower Never came to make bed Used same towels for a week even after requesting clean towels Never cleaned room and got trash, so it built up in room Room didn't stay cool because you can see gaps all around the door so cool air escaped Drunk people knocking on door at all hours Parking lot littered with construction material and unsafe and beer cans No apps configured on tv so couldn't watch mutch Fridge wouldn't get cold Where was security? never saw any Toilet would run 24 hrs a day and never stopped, which made it hard to sleep Couldnt' get anyone to come repair Construction crews started some mornings at 630am

The hotel room had a horrible mildew and moldy stench. We had to let the room air out for over an hour to even make it bearable.

Cleaning crew didn't come in for 4 days, which was only because I went to the office.I had to use dirty towels for days and ran out of soap. I thought they came to the room every day. I tried asking one of the cleaning ladies about it but she didn't speak English so that didn't help. Tv and remote didn't work. Loud people and screaming baby in the room next to me. Wifi was spotty or didn't work at all. Key cards didn't work and had to have them rekeyed multiple times. Lots of homeless people roaming the parking lot. Ac was cold but loud and really dirty. Being loud made it hard to sleep.

Very unkempt and rooms smelled like mold

Very unclean and tv and phone didn't work. Doing construction on the whole property and we were not informed of that.A lot of trash and nails in parking areas Absolutely the worst experience ever at any motel.

Staff was wonderful! We arrived a little early and she not only let us check in, but moved us to a bottom floor! I didn’t know what to expect since we got such a good deal, but we couldn’t have asked for better. We were in one of their remodeled rooms.

It was a good stay other than when the power went out. The door to the bathroom also wouldn’t shut. Finally, the sink worked but the spout spray was odd.

Under renovation some of the electrical did not work. The TV was out also. The staff was wonderful, they made a big difference in making out stay bearable. We will go back once the renovations are complete.

Didn’t even have a tv

Couldnt get the hot water to work in the shower. Property was old and a little run down. People that worked in the office were very nice.

Very accessible. However under construction, no tv, toilet continuously ran.

The hotel was undergoing renovations. Our first room had a TV that wouldn't work. They gave us another room which had a TV that worked a little better. The coffee pot had no basket for the coffee to go into and there were no coffee supplies. We were given supplies but never got the basket so it was if no use. There wasn't even coffee at reception. In all the moving between rooms we somehow lost a pillow which we discovered when we got home. The phone number at the front desk only worked intermittently. When I finally reached the desk after calling for 1.5 days, the person answering said that yes, they had our pillow. Family members were still in the area and went to get it but no one, including the manager, could find it. I tried calling again for another day and never got through.

This was our 4th stop on a couples getaway and have had horrible hotels before this one. This one was a fresh of breath-air. They are doing alot of renovations, but that didn't bother us we were up early. The staff were all super friendly and the updates are very nice. The only downfall was that they did not have cable, and we couldn't get the tv to hook up to our phones to stream from it. We would definitely go back.

Terrible experience with this hotel. Booked through Expedia/Orbitz when the hotel was The Beachcomber and had free cruise parking. It was changed to a Motel 6, so I called when I discovered this to verify the cruise parking would still be free. They confirmed over the phone it would, even with a 3rd party booking. Arrived at the hotel and was informed that all Expedia bookings had been canceled (folks checking in in front of me had the same issue). Odd, because nobody called me or refunded me. I had to contact Expedia to get them to refund my money after they then had to call the hotel and verify the hotel in fact canceled my booking. Of course they would let me book at the new rate and pay $10/day to park, how very nice. I got my refund and left this horrible, mismanaged hotel. Whoever manages this hotel should be absolutely ashamed of this excuse for customer service.

Overall it was decent for the price. Next to a Waffle House, so that was convenient. They take a $200 deposit when you check in. Wish I had been told that. I spoke to the front desk on two separate occasions. Once before I reserved and once after. They didn’t mention it until they already had the card.

Its been 7 business days and still have not received my $50 deposit. I cannot call because their phones are not working

It took them 3 weeks to refund my $50 deposit. No one answers the phone or their email for that matter. I had to contact Motel 6 corporate to get in toucn with management. Room smelled.like mildew or mold, light in the bathroom had to be replaced when i got there and the remote foe the tv wasnt even the right remote. Hopefully after they remodel they will get there $hhh together. Would NOT stay again...

Our vehicle was struck in the parking lot. The staff was quick to respond and notify me! I am so thankful for the great job the staffing did on my behalf!

This was probably one of the worst places we have stayed. The photos are truly deceiving, I highly recommend not staying here. The staff were the most unfriendly people, the room was dirty, the parking was terrible. If I could give 0 stars I would

We had room 112 which had the new updated bathrooms and vanity area. Tv worked great and beds were comfortable. Mrs. Curtis was very personable and professional. It is a no frill hotel, but priced very well for what you get, and they offer free cruise parking! I would recommend to cruise passengers.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, easy parking, very affordable and so near the beach. I would book again next time I’m in Galveston. They are currently renovating so some amenities are not working like the tv. But who wants to stay indoors and watch tv when you can easily walk to the beach

You could walk to the beach, and food places

We love going to Motel 6 on the seawall. Its very close to dining options, walkable. Its pretty quiet there though the traffic can be loud some times. The staff is friendly and the pool is nice.

I loved that everyone that worked there was super friendly and respectful. The customer service was on point! 10 mins walking distance from the beach, grocery store, liquor store and best of all waffle house is right next door! Very convenient location. Bad traffic.

Easy to find, nice room, great beds. Front desk staff was so friendly!. Night clerk had a bit of an issue (not with us)and handled it well-firm yet polite. Waffle House next door is priceless! Many stores, restaurants and fast food within reasonable walking range.

We liked everything from the Hot Coffee by the desk to the Room was great as well as their staff.

Our room smelled very bad of smoke so the nice housekeeper came and sprayed deodorizer and left the bottle with us so we could keep the smell down. When my husband went to run the coffee maker in the morning, something foul came out of the machine. I mean VERY FOUL. Again, a different very nice housekeeper came and apologized, said she hoped it didn't make us not want to stay there again. We assured her that it would not. They do NOT have free parking for people going on the cruise boats as the Expedia website says.
