The rooftop bar and being able to catch the view of the sunset, just made it so much magical.... Check-in easy. Front desk staff very clear and helpful. Safe place--need room key to go to your floor. Nice amenities, restaurant staff very friendly. Rooftop is a special place, and will bring us back if ever visiting family. Views are just as spectacular in the daytime as night time. Walking distance to 100 restaurants.

Great location, but consistently restaurants and bars weren’t open. For example, at noon, nothing was open, couldn’t get drinks or food at any of the 3 restaurants or bars on a Saturday. Additionally, in the room, there was no coffee. We were advised by staff to leave the hotel (while it was raining to get coffee) to get something.

From the minute we pulled our car up to the curb at Hotel Heron the staff demonstrated the utmost professionalism. Each staff member we encountered greeted us, offered assistance, and asked questions. The hotel was modern and very clean. The roof top bar was fantastic! We loved every moment of our stay.

Our visit to Heron was absolutely amazing. The hotel staff was extremely kind and helpful. Our stay was truly special, the staff aim to please. Our room was spotless, King bed, sheets and pillows where extremely comfortable. Thank you to all of the staff at Hotel Heron for making our stay truly special.

The hotel is in a great location and was quiet. However, there was a fowl odor in the lobby and it flowed into their restaurant too. That alone is a huge turn off. In addition, the deadbolt for our room did not line up. So, they need to fix these things asap in my opinion.

The hotel was beautiful and in a wonderful walkable area. Our room was comfortable and clean. The problems came with the Do Not Disturb sign and breakfast. Housekeeping walked into our room while I was walking naked to the shower, while the sign was on the door. They sent an apology truffle assortment and a handwritten note to apologize while I was out of the room with the sign still on the door! Twice they entered my room. When it came to breakfast, in a nutshell, it was almost a half hour late causing us to have to eat it in the car because we had an appointment.

The room was close to the roof I’m assuming so every night we heard the party up there which wasn’t too bad because it ended at a decent time but still a little loud. The area is great it is a perfect location. The food at the restaurant was great and the room itself was pleasant. Wish the water pressure was a bit stronger but it was very clean and well managed. I’d recommend this to friends for sure!

Great area and easy walk to shops in Old Town. Staff generally polite and attentive. Lovely hotel furnishings and decor. On arrival, we specifically planned to arrive after check-in time to ensure the room would be ready, but unfortunately it wasn’t and we had to wait in the lobby lounge .. then the room we were allocated is in the adjacent building with a view out the window to a big brick wall and into other people’s windows so we kept the curtains closed. For 3 people with two double beds, the room was very small to move around. Overall lovely hotel but unfortunately room wasn’t quite up to expectation for the price paid.

It was a staycation for my birthday. The room was greet. Roomy. Had a great view. However, the TV wasn't set up properly for viewing from the bed. It was awkward having to turn and arrange the pillows in order to watch and still not comfortable.

The hotel is in a perfect area to do all things Old Town related. The staff was wonderful. Rooms are a little small, but not bad. Our biggest problem was that the bathroom door was see thru and they had a huge mirror that angled directly from the bed into the bathroom door. Anyone using the bathroom was completely visible to anyone else in the room no matter where they were.

The hotel is in a perfect area to do all things Old Town related. The staff was wonderful. Rooms are a little small, but not bad. Hotel Heron is situated in a walkable part of Old Town Alexandria. The room and bathroom were nice and comfortable. The housekeepers were lovely people who did a nice job. But….the rooftop bar was OFF. The cocktails were incorrect, the “fancy grilled cheese” was soft mini buns with pickles and cheese ( NOT grilled). Weird. The woman at check in insisted that the amenities fee was $137 PER DAY. I was tired from traveling and said I have written confirmation to the contrary but she was adamant. At the very least, she was a TERRIBLE communicator. At check out (different lady), the invoice was correct just like the written confirmation. Was an aggravating check in experience. The in room movie rental (my 8 year old wanted to watch something) was $22, yikes. He watched it for about 20 minutes. We learned the “amenities” were very expensive. The Lobby area was comfortable, the morning coffee set up was fine.

The first night was fantastic. Happy front desk that made us feel so welcome, clean hotel, modern rooms. A storm knocked out the power the second night which was a bummer but the hotel did not charge us for the nights stay. I will definitely stay here again.

Located in the old Alexandria area so walking distances to most restaurants and waterfront. Hotel consists of two building at different levels so help was need moving luggage from one building to another. Actually need luggage cart to go down outside sidewalk to get to one half of building. Lunch was very pricey and underwhelming. Much better places nearby. Parking is by valet and only one valet was available so he was doing a lot of running to get cars so half the time there was not valet available. When first arriving the valet area was blocked by parked cars and no valet. Wife went inside to look for help while I was double parked outside. When valet showed up had to squeeze between parked cars with luggage to get in to reception area. Wasn't well organized. Room was fairly small with no bureau for clothes except for on small drawer in closet. I just spread some clothes on floor and rest just lived out of luggage bag. Also issue with cold water. Hot water came out of both hot and cold tap. After five minutes of running cold tap cold water finally came out. Must be an issue with hot water system back flowing into cold water system. Probably will try a different hotel when staying in the area again.

Located in the old Alexandria area so walking distances to most restaurants and waterfront. Hotel consists of two building at different levels so help was need moving luggage from one building to another. Actually need luggage cart to go down outside sidewalk to get to one half of building. Lunch was very pricey and underwhelming. Much better places nearby. Parking is by valet and only one valet was available so he was doing a lot of running to get cars so half the time there was not valet available. When first arriving the valet area was blocked by parked cars and no valet. Wife went inside to look for help while I was double parked outside. When valet showed up had to squeeze between parked cars with luggage to get in to reception area. Wasn't well organized. This is my first time here at Hotel Heron. I was able to check in early and the young lady at the desk was extremely helpful and friendly. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the building and knows her customer service. A big thank you to her! The room was comfortable and quiet. The king size bed was so comfortable it was hard to get up in the morning. I went to the rooftop Terrace in the evening to look at the full moon and enjoy the warmth of the fire pits.

From the minute we pulled our car up to the curb at Hotel Heron the staff demonstrated the utmost professionalism. Each staff member we encountered greeted us, offered assistance, and asked questions. The hotel was modern and very clean. The roof top bar was fantastic! We loved every moment of our stay.

Classy and clean renovations. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. It's conveniently located 1 block away from King street, which has a plethora of dining and shopping options. I was there on the weekend, so I parked on the street, which was convenient and free for me.

Hotel Heron has a wonderful location in Old Town Alexandria! The hotel is clean, and staff are friendly and helpful. Views from the rooftop lounge are spectacular. The Metro station is a mile walk down King Street, and the entire area is walkable and close to dining, shopping, and a myriad of historic buildings. I would stay here again!

Everything was excellent. The rooms were clean, beds and linens comfortable and the staff nice and attentive. They no longer offer room service but food can be bought in the restaurant and taken to your room. There was some maintenance noises off and on below our room from 6-8am which we didn’t appreciate and when we mentioned it at check out, they removed our dining tab. At least that was nice. The location of the hotel is close enough to everything

Besides the fact that the rooftop was closed for a private event, we loved our stay at the Heron as always. It’s definitely one of our favorite hotels overall! We’ve stayed here multiple times and will continue to do so! The rooftop will be there next time!!

Hotel was easy to access from the airport via rideshare or the metro and free Old Town Trolley. The room was spotless, and the hotel staff were friendly and approachable. I would definitely stay here again. Only thing I didn't realize was that my room would include $25/day of food purchases- you either use it or lose it. However, the cafe and the rooftop bar were very comfortable places to refresh and recharge. It wasn't a problem at all.
