Excellent hotel, would stay again. Only issue I had is that the pool was closed and when asked why the front desk guy told me because of possible storm surge from the hurricane that was no where near the state.

My husband and I stayed at the Dover Holiday Inn Express on October 31, 2023. This well-managed property is one that we have stayed at previously and it has undergone a significant renovation. It is very clean, safe and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. We loved the walk-in shower. The breakfast too was very good--even fresh berries for cereal. My sister was traveling with us and had her own pet-friendly room to accommodate her small dog. She agreed it was a delightful experience to stay here. We look forward to returning!

Inside the room smelled of mold or stale odor. Bed was uncomfortable. Bathroom towels worned and need replacing. Refrigerator leaked. Room floor was left with grease on tbe floor or something slippery. Definitely not worth what we paid per night.

Very welcoming hotel service. From front desk associates, to the breakfast associate, it was a very welcoming experience. Thankful for the different breakfast options, clean & service were very good. Unfortunately, the room was not cleaned well. Bathroom and areas around the bed area needs improvement of cleanliness.

The desk and cafe staff were fantastic, each person we encountered, yet the four rooms we were moved to each was nasty and unclean. The first room we got in the 5th floor had hair on the bedspread, the bed was not made up, dog hair all over the couch. We requested to move and the next room on the 5th floor we received smelled like a wet dog had stayed in the room, we requested to move again and we rescued 119 on the first floor. 119 looked nice yet smelled like raw sewage, we didn’t want to complain anymore because the host was so gracious, yet the next morning the smell literally smelled like someone was taking a constant booboo in our room. Maintenance poured something down the drain, it helped until around 6pm when it got even worst. The gentleman at the front desk came in and smelled as well and moved us to 121, that room didn’t stink, yet had dog hair in the couch, hair in the corner, the bathtub and hair literally in the walls. I would have changed hotels after the first night yet thought each time we moved rooms it would be better. I have to be honest and share that your hotel looks good aesthetically, yet is one of the nastiest I’ve stayed in in a long time, it doesn’t appear that the floors are being vacuumed or the couches, which is a must if dogs are allowed. I requested a refund for some of the nights stayed and the hotel declined because I booked through Travelocity. There are not alot of hotels in Dover, yet I recommend, pick another one.

I would had given the hotel a higher rating, but due to the fact we discovered our sheets were not changed. There was blood on the flat, fitted and quilt. We called the front desk to complain and the staff was accommodating. At first we asked for clean sheets due to the fact it was late at night 1 am and we were exhausted. She moved us to another room and floor instead. We were told the manager Julie would be available in the morning. Well Julie was conveniently sick for the remainder of our stay. There was no representatives in place to discuss the situation. All we wanted was an acknowledgment and apology from management. I am always in Delaware and have stayed at different hotels. This was our first time trying Holiday Inn and I don’t think I would go back. This situation was a big turn off. No one wants to sleep on someone else’s blood. It’s disgusting and unsanitary. I work for the Health Department and I am appalled at the way they brushed off the situation. I suggest checking your sheets and bringing disinfecting wipes to go over your room. Even though it was supposedly cleaned. The pro of this hotel was Ms. Audette in the breakfast area. She was accommodating and courteous to all the guests.

During check in, front desk staff was very welcoming. Hotel looks nice on the surface but just as I thought, a whole bunch of cover up patch work. The room smelled like old smoke. The shower was way too small and broken. Towels/wash cloths need to be replaced. They’ve been used too much! Bathroom could’ve been cleaner. Old hair & dirt in the shower, floor and counter. We were exhausted from a long day and needed some rest. At 9:31am housekeeping staff knocked on the door 4 times. It woke us up and we were little startled. My husband yelled, “we’re here, isn’t check out at 12p?” and a woman responded, just checking to see if you were still here. I was super pissed. During check out, we had to stand around until someone came out to the desk. A woman appeared and said, “oh she’s in the bathroom, how can I help you?”. I shared our experience about the housekeeping incident and her response was, “Oh you didn’t put the do not disturb tag on the door?” I told her no and I shouldn’t have to. We travel and stay at alot of hotels and have never had that happen. She made us feel like we were wrong. She brushed it off and told us,”whenever you stay at any hotel you’re always supposed to put the sign on the door”. She said they were completely booked for the weekend and staff need to turn rooms over before 3p for the next guest checking in. Made no sense to me, why knock on my door at 9:31a if check out isn’t until 12p? Place reminds me of remodeled motel. Never again!

My wife and I had a family emergency and had to book last minute last week. The entire staff was very friendly, customer service professionals and the entire hotel was very clean. The manager helped with the rate after hearing that we were there because my brother was in ICU . The manager slipped a card under the door that we received when we came back. We will be writing a letter to her and the corporate office thanking them for the great services that we received. I am going back next month for my brother's birthday/service because he unfortunately didn't survive. I wanted to go back to the same hotel because the customer service was 5 stars throughout the entire place. The room was very nice, up to date, clean and quiet. The bed wasn't sagging and it was very comfortable. Yes i would highly recommend staying here and i would not hesitate to stay here either. They went above and beyond my expectations !

My wife and I had a family emergency and had to book last minute last week. The entire staff was very friendly, customer service professionals and the entire hotel was very clean. The manager helped with the rate after hearing that we were there because my brother was in ICU . The manager slipped a card under the door that we received when we came back. We will be writing a letter to her and the corporate office thanking them for the great services that we received. I am going back next month for my brother's birthday/service because he unfortunately didn't survive. I wanted to go back to the same hotel because the customer service was 5 stars throughout the entire place. The room was very nice, up to date, clean and quiet. The bed wasn't sagging and it was very comfortable. Yes i would highly recommend staying here and i would not hesitate to stay here either. They went above and beyond my expectations !

The night shift staff went out of their way to accommodate us and give us an extra bed. Thank you! Also the food in the cafe was surprisingly good with fresh strawberries and blueberries and very nice yogurt too

Nice clean room. Nice breakfast. They had gluten free bagels which was a nice touch. Potatoes or cheese would have been nice but otherwise there was something for everyone. Convenient location to the Cape May/Lewes Ferry.

We were disappointed that the pool closed at 9p. Also where it is located very tricky if you’re not from Delaware. Make sure you turn near the McDonald’s it’s behind it.

This property was located directly next to another hotel which was weird. The other hotel had a less then premium look. So the location could be better. However, the Holiday Inn Express was clean. The staff was professional. The best part was the breakfast. The only place who serves turkey sausage for those who don't eat pork. Kudos to Holiday Inn for providing options.

The staff was not really helpful they told us breakfast at 6:30 and nothing else. Every time we were in the lobby no one was there for us to ask a question. Bathroom made all kind of noises no exhaust fan and the walk in shower left puddles on the outside. Breakfast had a variety and the women was very helpful if we needed something.

Our room was clean and spacious, but there were two issues. The toilet seat was loose, and the sink drain was partially clogged. The breakfast was average at best. The scrambled eggs were unimaginative and looked like they had been recycled from a previous dish. The only redeeming quality was the oatmeal. They needed a waffle maker; they only had a pancake maker.
