Great location. Very friendly service. The pool area seems a little outdated and visitors are in general in their late retirement age. But we still loved it . Breakfast and food was amazing !

A beautiful hotel with all the old world charm and modern amenities. They provided a beautiful cot for our baby with the cutest bedding we’ve seen. We also loved the heated outdoor saltwater pool a rarity in the cape. Great spot for families and couples alike.

We had a lovely stay at The Marine. The staff was extremely kind and helpful and the room and lounge were beautifully decorated. Also, it is conveniently located on the cliff path and near the shop, which was perfect. We highly recommend!

We booked this location thinking we were going to see the whales but got it wrong. They have moved on after October/November and we went early December. Having said that we are really pleased that we stayed in Hermanus for a few nights. It is a beautiful place and a world away from Cape town. The Marine is a delightful hotel with fantastic food, a nice quiet pool area and a short walk from many restaurants and shops. We had a lovely room although we did not pay extra for a sea view. Since there were no whales to see that was fine.

Unfortunately the room was tiny with only room for the bed and one small chair - we did not feel that particular room (226) represented good value for money (£1491 for 3 nights). Reception said they had no other room available. Other rooms were much more spacious. The help received when one of our phones was lost while out in Hermanus, including a late checkout, was outstanding.

Loved the property and the staff. Only issue we had was when it rained hard we could hear it constantly in the room on second floor - beyond what I would say is normal for a hotel. It sounded like there was a tin roof instead of a ceiling. The staff and food was incredible and same with overall rooms. Despite the rain issues would stay here again any day.

Fantastic location, good ambience, top breakfast, but not as good as same group hotel Plettenberg. Nice old buildings, but need more maintenance. “Tired” and old noisy windows kept me awake in nights , because of strong winds. Staff tried to fix, but no luck. Same reason wind made it gold in the room. Still very good and memorable stay.

Lovely property deserving of every accolade from the moment of check in , when we were offered hot towels for our faces and honey lemon rooibus tea. Rooms were plush, the staff was very attentive without hovering. Both the complimentary breakfast and our fabulous dinner were 5 star.

Despite a few issues Michel, General Manager, went out of his way to ensure we had a wonderful time at the hotel. His team clearly enjoy being at the hotel and ensuring everyone is having a great time and helping out with any queries or reservations. Ensure you take a trip to Creation for the wine tasting which is memorable. We will return for Whale watching next year.

Great location. Very friendly service. The pool area seems a little outdated and visitors are in general in their late retirement age. But we still loved it . Breakfast and food was amazing !

Beautiful hotel and grounds - larger than average rooms with very comfortable beds and great views of the ocean. 5 minutes walk to town centre for all restaurants however hotel food was very good too. Pool area and spa wonderful too !

We came away for two nights to be close to the beach and within easy drive of the two wine valleys - Elgin and Hemel en-Arde. The welcome by hotel staff was superb and we thought highly of the Pavilion Restaurant. The sea view room was well appointed and we loved the high quality bed linen.

We had a lovely stay at The Marine. The staff was extremely kind and helpful and the room and lounge were beautifully decorated. Also, it is conveniently located on the cliff path and near the shop, which was perfect. We highly recommend!

We booked this location thinking we were going to see the whales but got it wrong. They have moved on after October/November and we went early December. Having said that we are really pleased that we stayed in Hermanus for a few nights. It is a beautiful place and a world away from Cape town. The Marine is a delightful hotel with fantastic food, a nice quiet pool area and a short walk from many restaurants and shops. We had a lovely room although we did not pay extra for a sea view. Since there were no whales to see that was fine.

Une extraordinaire étape à Hermanus. Un hôtel tellement remplit d’histoire ….un personnel aux petits soins. Bref ……extraordinaire! Tout est beau !!!!!! Nous avons été un peu déçu par le restaurant qui n’est pas à la hauteur de l’établissement ( aucune saveur dans nos 2 plats principaux ) bien que l’entrée ( la bisque était extra ). Mais nous en gardons un merveilleux souvenir !

Lovely property deserving of every accolade from the moment of check in , when we were offered hot towels for our faces and honey lemon rooibus tea. Rooms were plush, the staff was very attentive without hovering. Both the complimentary breakfast and our fabulous dinner were 5 star.

This was my second excellent stay at the Marine Hotel. The first time could've been a fluke, but this second stay and the outstanding service and warmth of the staff proved that five star service is the absolute norm at this oustanding property and the management is clearly strong. I had a girls trip and two ocean facing rooms. Two of my friends this was a first visit to Africa and one of them had a lot of serious medical challenges (organ transplants and cancer survivor). For her, we needed a lot of bottles of distilled water for medical care and the Marine stepped up without any questions!! The tears of relief in my friends eyes, who is so used to searching for this critical medical need anytime she travels, was worth the booking alone. But the staff went out of their way to make the trip special. Patrick gave us a wonderful overview of the hotel and rooms and tips on whale watching that exceeded our expectations. The rooms were lovely, comfortable and beautifully appointed with every amenity (love the Africology products). Food in the restaurants was outstanding as well as the friendly service. The location is superb - WE HEARD WHALES breathing from our room when the window was open!! The location on the Cliff Walk is stunning. When visiting Hermanus this is the only place I will stay. If you have a chance to book an ocean view room, or just stay at this hotel, do not miss it!!! It was a universal favorite amongst my girlfriends - hands down and two thumbs up!!! Love love!

The Marine is an extremely comfortable and well run hotel with an excellent restaurant, lovely pool and spa. In addition it's unique location gives one easy access to magnificent walks, wonderful views and great local restaurants and shopping.
