I booked a room in a “4 star” hotel and ended up in a cigarette smelling room, which has not been updated in decades. We were able to change the room to a slightly updated one (no smell!!) but very noisy since both the hotel and the plaza in front of the hotel are in full renovations. The noise and renovation should be mentioned through the booking process, mostly since all materials are carried through the main lobby and guest elevators. (dirt everywhere) Offsite parking is also inconvenient. The staff felt stiff and unwelcoming. Even with renovated rooms, not a 4 star hotel.

I usually stay at this hotel when I travel to Iasi. This time was a big disappointment.. First of all, the hotel was doing renovations and it did not informed the travel agency neither was posted on their side. Being on a 7h time difference, it was extremely difficult to rest given the excessive reno noise. First room I was allocated, smelled terrible from the bathroom floor sewage. I was given another room. The room I was told, was newly renovated but leaving aside the choice of carpet and amenities, lack of proper bathroom supplies , the AC did not work so the room was very hot. I was too tired to change the room so I stayed... Very disappointing for a 4* hotel with such potential.

I stayed once more at Unirea with my wife for 3 nights. As usual it was a pleasant stay, very relaxing, with everything we needed. The room was clean and filled with light from the large windows over the main square, ensuring beautiful sights during night and day time. The bed was comfy and an extra blanket was provided. Room AC / climate control worked perfectly. Bathroom standard and functioning, with stuck-to-the-wall toiletries. Breakfast is always a scrumptious affair here and very generous: there is everything from fruit and cheese to omelette and sandwich materials. The spaces, staff, and general vibe are as usual very welcoming and generous. I will return often.
