This was our best home rental experience ever. VRBO should hire Hershel and Becky to teach all of their owners how to take care of their guests, and their properties. Before we even arrived, they took care of a potential serious problem while they were themselves on vacation in Europe. They arrived home the evening our stay began, and Hershel came over the next morning to familiarize us with all of the amenities of the property. And there were plenty of them: starting with a fantastic swimming pool with waterfall, an outdoor movie screen and projector, and an array of outdoor cookers. Our teenagers also loved the pond, with fishing, a paddle boat, and a kayak. With five bedrooms and additional sleeping spaces, the house had more than enough beds for our group of ten. Three full bathrooms took care of our needs, and the kitchen had all the cookware and appliances we needed. This place was a huge hit with our entire group, and we'll be back.

The property description is just as it appears in real life. The house is definitely well cared for and has high tech functionality mixed in with its wonderful decor. Everything you need is within a 20min drive and there is plenty of kitchen to load up for your stay. The heated pool was awesome at night and the bedroom/bathroom situation was perfect for 4 families.. Definitely worth it.

Our family loved this place! House is huge and plenty of outdoor space! Started off the morning on front porch drinking coffee and watching deer! Then moved to back patio- swimming, foosball for 6 yo, fabulous pool with lots of umbrellas, several grills for cooking, and ended day watching movies on huge outdoor movie screen! And did I mention the nugget ice machine!!! Owners were very easy and prompt to work with!!

Check in was super easy. Property was as advertised. Amenities were beyond great. Hershel & Becky were terrific hosts. The kitchen was equipped with any and everything you would ever need. The house & property were very clean. The pool was a definite highlight of this property. The outdoor kitchen with the sink, ice maker & refrigerator was a great added touch. We highly recommend Mesquite Retreat for any family looking for an awesome property. We especially liked the secluded location away from town or neighbors. Thank you Hershel & Becky!

Very Responsive Owners, they will quickly help you if any issues arise. Our family enjoyed the movie screen outside, smores, shopping in Bastrop (I never knew Bastrop had that much traffic), games, heated pool, hot tub, fishing, and boating. With the pond being 5 foot low the fish were SO easy to catch too! There was enough room for 7 of us to sleep comfortably. During our stay we experienced weather in the 50's and mid 80s, their AC and Heat worked well, beds were comfortable. Appliances for cooking were great- there is a cube ice machine on the patio along with a fire place.

The stay was absolutely wonderful. The pool was an oasis in the Texas mid-July heat. The rest of the amenities were a plus, and there are many. If it's watching TV at the outside bar or viewing a great move during the night while you cool off floating in the pool, this place has everything. The host is spectacular.

Property was very nice and as described. Amenities were abundant and the pool w/waterfall was a hit! Outdoor movie screen was well enjoyed. Golf cart provided entertainment for teenager and was a great perk to have. Hot tub was loved by all! Indoors was supercozy and beds are soooo comfortable! Bathtub was well loved to wind down fron the day. Hosts were very helpful and friendly explaining how to utilize/function the amenities. We are talking about making this a yearly visit, we all loved it. Thank you!

Our family of eight (six adults and two kids) stayed for three nights at Mesquite Retreat. While the lovely home was comfortable, clean, and spacious, we spent most of our time outside in the beautiful pool and hot tub area. The homeowners have thought of everything a guest might need—from pool floats and toys to beach towels to flotation devices for young children. Our family enjoyed lounging in the sun and shade, playing foosball, and relaxing in the beautiful backyard. The kids even got to feed the fish in the pond on the property. The highlight of our stay was turning on the pool lights and watching a movie by the pool. Our stay could not have been better. We attended the Formula 1 race at COTA, and the travel to and from the track from the house was very easy. Overall, this house is the perfect place to stay if you want to feel like you’re in “real Texas” while also having the amenities of Austin.

This was a terrific property! The house was great and the property was very peaceful and fun. The house offered so much entertainment (games, pool table, dart board, etc.), we wish we had stayed longer. In addition, it had a wonderful heated pool with waterfall and a separate hot tub. To make things even better, the owner was quick to respond to any messages. We really enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend it!

Very nice property. Wonderfully decorated with attention to detail. The pool has a really nice water fall that is relaxing. We enjoyed the movie by the pool. Game room was awesome. And the hosts were extremely polite and gracious.

As many reviewers have stated, the property is exactly as described, if not better. Tons of things to keep all age groups entertained, and the fishing was an excellent treat for the kids. They caught (and released) a lot of fish!!The sleeping accommodations were great with very comfortable beds, lots of towels, a kitchen that has everything you need to cook for a big group, and a ton of seating in the outdoor space which included pool, hot tub, fire pit, and an outdoor kitchen that has inspired a construction project at home.The owners are very quick to respond and accommodating.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone heading to the area. A perfect spot to rest, relax, and catch up with friends and family. We look forward to coming back!

First off, amazing property! We stay at multiple Vrbo houses each year and I can definitely say this was on the top of everyone’s list to return back. The house and all is very well equipped and CLEAN! Cleanliness is top of our priority list if that helps anyone. The pool was 100% crystal clear, I was shocked to be honest how clear it was. Everything was well stocked and planned out. It looks like someone took their time in making sure every angle was covered for guest enjoyment. All the speaker systems were very convenient. The huge stack of pool towels and toy bin at the back door made it so much easier with the kids! Projector is a bit old but got the job done. There was a big wasp nest under the pavilion but that can be expected in Texas. Herschel gave us a run through of all the technology in the house/patio/pool when we arrived. Very hospitable and thorough. Appreciate the attention to detail! Thanks again and see you next time!

The amount of towels in the bathrooms were over flowing. The pool area with the waterfall was spectacular. The outdoor kitchen was extraordinary. This is a 5 star top notch property. Amazing spot! 15 minutes from the track. Close to the airport. Having a pool to cool off in between races was Amazing. Nice to have clean towels and shampoo provided. Definitely coming back next year

We had the opportunity to stay here before so when we found out a friend’s wedding was in Cedar Creek there was no question on where we would stay. This home is very clean. The property has so much to offer. Our grandchildren stayed busy swimming, fishing and exploring. We will definitely be reserving it again.

The property was just as beautiful in person as the online pictures that drew me in to book it originally. The house was FULLY stocked with plenty of everything—towels, beach towels, pool floats, games, technology, entertainment, kitchen, etc. I think there was truly one of every single kitchen appliance you could think of. It's evident that the owners have put a lot of thought and care into providing the best experience possible for all potential renters. We will recommend this property to all of our friends and are talking about when we will be able to return! We floated the San Marcos River one day using Don's Fish Camp for float rentals and transportation, which was about a 25-minute drive from the property. It was a great much needed relaxing vacation for our family.

The house was great! Much larger than what we were expecting…plenty of room for our party of 8. The house had plenty of amenities & activities inside and out. We liked how it was also quiet and peaceful.

The house was perfect for our family gathering! It had everything we needed and more. Plenty of room for our family, and the kids loved the game room. The hosts were extremely friendly and prompt in their responses. We would not hesitate to come back.

Property was very nice and as described. Amenities were abundant and the pool w/waterfall was a hit! Outdoor movie screen was well enjoyed. Golf cart provided entertainment for teenager and was a great perk to have. Hot tub was loved by all! Indoors was supercozy and beds are soooo comfortable! Bathtub was well loved to wind down fron the day. Hosts were very helpful and friendly explaining how to utilize/function the amenities. We are talking about making this a yearly visit, we all loved it. Thank you!

Our family loves this place. One family member even commented that it feels like home when we’re here together. My family and I stayed here and it was wonderful. The pictures are accurate and I encourage anyone who is looking for a restful place to stay away from the city, to consider this place. Fishing was fun in the tank (perch and catfish) watching movies on the big screen by the pool was fantastic, and the use of the golf cart was a bonus. The hosts are nice and easy to deal with. Beds were super comfortable too. Plenty of space to relax and hang out.

Our family of eight (six adults and two kids) stayed for three nights at Mesquite Retreat. While the lovely home was comfortable, clean, and spacious, we spent most of our time outside in the beautiful pool and hot tub area. Our family enjoyed lounging in the sun and shade, playing foosball, and relaxing in the beautiful backyard. The kids even got to feed the fish in the pond on the property. We attended the Formula 1 race at COTA, and the travel to and from the track from the house was very easy. This was our best home rental experience ever. VRBO should hire Hershel and Becky to teach all of their owners how to take care of their guests, and their properties. Before we even arrived, they took care of a potential serious problem while they were themselves on vacation in Europe. They arrived home the evening our stay began, and Hershel came over the next morning to familiarize us with all of the amenities of the property. And there were plenty of them: starting with a fantastic swimming pool with waterfall, an outdoor movie screen and projector, and an array of outdoor cookers. Our teenagers also loved the pond, with fishing, a paddle boat, and a kayak. With five bedrooms and additional sleeping spaces, the house had more than enough beds for our group of ten. Three full bathrooms took care of our needs, and the kitchen had all the cookware and appliances we needed. This place was a huge hit with our entire group, and we'll be back.

First off, amazing property! We stay at multiple Vrbo houses each year and I can definitely say this was on the top of everyone’s list to return back. The house and all is very well equipped and CLEAN! Cleanliness is top of our priority list if that helps anyone. The pool was 100% crystal clear, I was shocked to be honest how clear it was. Everything was well stocked and planned out. It looks like someone took their time in making sure every angle was covered for guest enjoyment. All the speaker systems were very convenient. The huge stack of pool towels and toy bin at the back door made it so much easier with the kids! Projector is a bit old but got the job done. There was a big wasp nest under the pavilion but that can be expected in Texas. Herschel gave us a run through of all the technology in the house/patio/pool when we arrived. Very hospitable and thorough. Appreciate the attention to detail! Thanks again and see you next time!

We were staying with our kids and grandkids for a long weekend. (This is our third or forty time!). The pool is so inviting and we love watching a movie (Sandlot of course) together at night. Then there’s fishing in the pond, playing games, and riding in the golf cart. There was a glitch in the fridge but we texted and had a workaround in 30 minutes!

This was a terrific property! The house was great and the property was very peaceful and fun. The house offered so much entertainment (games, pool table, dart board, etc.), we wish we had stayed longer. In addition, it had a wonderful heated pool with waterfall and a separate hot tub. To make things even better, the owner was quick to respond to any messages. We really enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend it!

We stayed at Mesquite Retreat while in town for the Moto GP races at COTA. There were 7 of us ranging in age from 19-50. We all had a wonderful time. The pool and pond were enjoyed by all. We can’t say enough good about our stay at Mesquite Retreat…the house is very clean…they have it stocked with everything you might need. The pool was awesome…we probably chose the home for this feature, but the entire property exceeded our expectations! We also enjoyed the pond and the serenity of the property. Even though we have rented many homes, this is only the 2nd time we would say, “we want to go back!”

The property description is just as it appears in real life. The house is definitely well cared for and has high tech functionality mixed in with its wonderful decor. Everything you need is within a 20min drive and there is plenty of kitchen to load up for your stay. The heated pool was awesome at night and the bedroom/bathroom situation was perfect for 4 families.. Definitely worth it.

The property was just as beautiful in person as the online pictures that drew me in to book it originally. The house was FULLY stocked with plenty of everything—towels, beach towels, pool floats, games, technology, entertainment, kitchen, etc. I think there was truly one of every single kitchen appliance you could think of. It's evident that the owners have put a lot of thought and care into providing the best experience possible for all potential renters. We will recommend this property to all of our friends and are talking about when we will be able to return! We floated the San Marcos River one day using Don's Fish Camp for float rentals and transportation, which was about a 25-minute drive from the property. It was a great much needed relaxing vacation for our family.

I cannot say enough great things about this property. It really is a private resort full of amenities that make it unique, comfortable, and family friendly. We loved watching movies by the moonlit pool! It had everything we needed in all aspects of our stay: plenty of towels, a fully stocked kitchen, movies, games, hot tub, deer feeding in the front yard…you name it. We had a group from age 70 down to 9 and there was something for everyone. Highly recommend this unique home!

Everything was just as listed, clean and nicely appointed. The hosts were very prompt, warm and welcoming! Unfortunately, due to weather and schedule constraints for the wedding we were there for, we did not get to fully enjoy all of the many amenities, but we did get to enjoy the big screen movie while floating around the pool, which was definitely unique! We enjoyed the fact that everyone had a place to retreat to and we weren't on top of each other the whole weekend. Hopefully we will have another chance to come back and enjoy the rest of the property!
Everything was just as listed, clean and nicely appointed. The hosts were very prompt, warm and welcoming! Unfortunately, due to weather and schedule constraints for the wedding we were there for, we did not get to fully enjoy all of the many amenities, but we did get to enjoy the big screen movie while floating around the pool, which was definitely unique! We enjoyed the fact that everyone had a place to retreat to and we weren't on top of each other the whole weekend. Hopefully we will have another chance to come back and enjoy the rest of the property!
