Maitai Bora Bora

We stayed in a premium overwater bungalow, and it was an amazing experience, from early checkin to the ability to use their facilities even after checkout. The bungalow was a dream, with its own snorkel deck and outdoor shower and beautiful views. Both restaurants were great; good food and excellent service. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. It is such a bargain compared to the offshore motu bungalows, we easily walked for groceries and Matira Beach within minutes of the property. We rented a car, but the hotel offers both airport and cruise/ferry shuttles. Bora Bora had been on our bucket list for decades, and MaiTai really nailed it! We would stay here again and again and again...highly recommend!

Everything was quite nice. We stayed in a bungalow and all expectations were met. Sitting on the balcony and watching the sunrise was great. The private beach was never crowded. Happy hour was good. We preferred to get our breakfast early because during the morning rush the buffet was a bit crowded. The location was close to two restaurants and two grocery stores which made it very convenient. It is about an 8 minute walk to Mitira Beach.

Das Hotel ist gut gelegen. Direkt am schönen Strand und viele Restaurants gut zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Aussicht vom overwater bungalow war schön. Das Meer ist ebenfalls schön und man kann viele Fische sehen. Die Hotelanlage ist veraltet und entspricht nicht der erwarteten Qualität und sollte renoviert werden. Das Preis/Leistungsverhtnis stimmt nicht. Das Personal ist freundlich und macht nur das was es machen muss, nicht mehr. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist beschränkt. Es gibt weder Pool noch GYM. Wenn wir wieder mal nach Bora Bora gehen, würde ich hier nicht absteigen.

Our stay was absolutely unforgettable! The hotel is a true paradise — located on a private beach where they’ve created beautiful reef areas that allow you to swim among colorful fish right in their natural habitat. It’s like having your own private aquarium! The resort provides everything you could possibly need for an incredible experience — from kayaks and paddleboards to full snorkeling gear, all available anytime you want. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed for relaxation and enjoyment. The staff was exceptional — always attentive, kind, and genuinely eager to make our stay perfect. Their warm hospitality made us feel completely cared for. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for peace, beauty, and an authentic Bora Bora experience!

Amazing snorkeling. We rented a beach house on the water which was nice, expect the rental notes would be in front of it every morning. The restaurant on site had a decent breakfast, coffee was ok. Sometimes hard to get in for coffee as they have it at the back where there is lots of traffic trying to get their breakfast. Happy Hour was nice with half price drinks. Lucky House was a nice restaurant to walk too within walking distance with a decent happy hour as well and good pizza.

The aircondition unit in the room froze so was dripping water on floor and spent night in hot room. Paint in bathroom is pealing off, needs updating! Breakfast was good especially omelets and nice happy hour offered to deter people from leaving to go watch sunset.

There were no over the water bungalows available online when we booked a reservations but something opened up when we got there and Julia assisted us with upgrading. She was very kind and so helpful. It was so worth it. There are coral reefs right below the bungalows and we were able to snorkel right from our deck. The customer service was amazing. The rooms are large. The food is good. They have free kayaking which we took advantage of and there is a coral garden right across the lagoon from the resort that we kayaked to several times. We saw turtles many rays lots of fish right from our deck. It is also located a five minute walk from Matira Beach the only public beach. It had wonderful snorkeling and was not ever crowded. I highly recommend this resort.

Bora Bora is know for its five star, cloistered resorts, particularly with overwater bungalows. It's a certain kind of vacation and not to be missed at some point. Having stayed at the VERY cloistered Four Seasons previously, we were looking for something a bit more grounded and authentic. I highly recommend the Maitai after our seven night stay there. The staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly. We had a little room glitch at the beginning, but options were offered and we ended up on the beach in bungalow 13 which has been newly remodeled. It's important to understand that there are three kinds of rooms: those in condo-like building on the hillside (where I had originally booked), across the road from the beach; the bungalows along the beach, and the overwater bungalows. Go for the latter two options! Other reviewers have covered the other wonderful things but we loved happy hour in the "lobby." We loved the proximity of two other off-property restaurants, especially the fantastic and always busy Lucky House restaurant, a short walk down the road from the hotel. The Beach Club was bit farther down and also good… particularly the outdoor, on-beach, and terrace seating. We highly recommend booking the six hour around-the-island in a boat tour via the office on property. Ask for Didi! One last plus to note… even though it's mystical, magical Bora Bora, by not staying at a fancy resort, we got a test of how island folks live as we walked about.

Great location (except for road noise), war staff, beautiful grounds, nice breakfast, beautiful views of the world's most beautiful island, water dispensers everywhere, good beachfront restaurant, snorkel gear and kayaks included. Only drawbacks are road noise and internet (not accessible from most areas of resort). Staff were excellent and appreciated.

My bathroom sink had a prett big black mold spot on the wooden counter all around the faucet , producing a pretty moldy smell. The toilet also had colored stains, and somemmoldy stains around it. The paint in the toilets were peeling off at the floorboard. The bathroom needs a lot of maintenance. There were cobwebs and dead spiders under the tables in the bedroom. The worst was our AC was leaking lots of water, they fixed it but then started leaking again within 12 hours. The staff generally were polite but not really helpful or friendly. We stayed at the garden room , not the bungalows. Maybe it would have made a difference?

Personnel au top ,chambre très propre, services à la hauteur de toutes nos espérances. A ma demande notre pilotis a été fleuri pour l anniversaire de mon épouse avec une décoration très soignée. Situation géographique parfaite.. Dans le cadre de l'anniversaire nous avons même eu droit a un surclassement Bref lors de mon retour à Bora bora direction le Maitai

Our stay at the Maitai Polynesia was fantastic. The room provided a beautiful view of the ocean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The facility was clean and the food was excellent.

The MaiTai was a delightful place to stay and beyond our expectations. It was very tidy and very clean, with gardens and nice seating. Situated in a lovely part of the island. The beach was great and had lots of conveniences. The restaurant on the waterfront was an added bonus. The rooms were cool and comfortable. Very quiet and nice views. The staff were all above and beyond. I would love to return to the MaiTai.

Arrivés un peu plus tard que prévu, je me présente à la réception, c’est tout juste si elle lève la tête, je finis par lui dire que j’ai une réservation et enfin la magie opère, on me souhaite la bienvenue. Notre chambre est rustique, les rideaux sont tachés, le frigo fait un bruit pas possible. Les fenêtres de notre chambre ne ferment pas n’importe qui peut rentrer chez nous. Il faut aller sur la terrasse pour capter une barre de wifi, puis pendant deux jours plus internet, nous ne sommes pas prévenus et aucune alternative n’est proposée. Au prix des chambres c’est digne d’un deux étoiles grand maximum.

Hotel bien placé sur l'île de Bora Bora a coté de la belle plage de Matira. L'hôtel est coupé en 2 par la route , heureusement peu de passage. Nous avions un bungalow sur l'eau, forte odeur de moisi dans la salle de bain, dommage Petits déjeuners très moyens

The hotel staff was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and worked hard to make it an enjoyable experience. The breakfast was excellent!! Happy hour was ok but there was not much interaction with the other guests. Drink selection was ok but not great. Was hoping for more engagement or social events. Great to have the restaurant close by. Did not like climbing the hill to our room so many times but had a great view once there!!! We got locked out of room on the porch but our neighbor saved us. Not sure what to do if that happened again (?). Fun place and very clean -pure paradise.

I did not like that there is not wifi connection in the rooms.

This is a beautiful property, very quiet with lots of nature . The lagoon , coral and fish is really beautiful , I wish I knew the snorkeling was so good ? I would have brought my equipment and maybe a go pro. The bungalow over water was great , small work compared to the large bungalow from other large hotels , but perfect size and the glass table overlooking the water , was really cool. In the mornings you could see the school of fish alll over , it was great to see all marine life. Staff was really helpful and nice. Julia received us with a great smile and helped us with directions to local markets and other . I recommend the breakfast , was really delicious : the marmalades , bread selection, fruit , cold cuts , etc very good 😀 I strongly recommend, I wish we would have stayed longer.

Our room was in need of refurbishment. Biggest concern was AC couldnt keep up with the hest. Never got below 80.

We stayed 2 nights at the overwater bungalows and had a great time at the hotel. The rooms are great, with good AC, very nice shower and bathroom. Location is also good. A few other restaurants and beaches within walking distance if you want to try something different. There is some nice coral at the hotel beach, so we also had great snorkeling. Staff was very friendly and the free breakfast was very good. We also did the polynesian dinner and dance show which was very nice. Overall, excellent stay. Would definitely return.

Wonderful bungalow on top of the lagoon. Access to the lagoon from your bungalow and snorkelling spots only few meters away !

Loved our stay at the premium OWB for our honeymoon. We felt we got VIP service! The room was amazing and looks much better in person compared to the pictures. The hotel is beautiful as well, the beach, reception area. The staff was great. We did not want to leave! The breakfast was also good, however as others have mentioned, there could be more effort done to keep the fruit flies out of the fruits.

The pictures look much better than the reality. The hotel is old and worn out. The service was the most disappointing thing though. I understand the worn out furnitures etc due to the climate and general state of hotels in the area. But the service was poor. Would barely help with restaurant reservations - and when going down to reception to get help, the man working got annoyed I came down for help. He even told me to talk to the restaurant myself and handed me the phone from reception. Moreover, their restaurant staff does not speak english very well. He would not understand our questions regarding the fish and how it was cooked (pregnant wife) and seemed to get annoyed/frustrated by our questions. Simply no warmth in this hotel from the staff. The only time the service was (or seemed) good was during check-in when they explained everything and told us they were there for us and to come to them for any kind of questions or requests. But saying it is different than actually doing it. The waters by this property is not the best either. Only good thing is that Matira public beach is nearby. I would not come back to this hotel honestly. Our next stay at the Conrad was MILES ahead in terms of service (not even comparing the facilities).

Breakfast can be better . I think breakfast was not fresh and some food like rice was used from a day before . The front desk service is terrible never respond and waiting so long to get respond from them.

Le personnel est aux petits soins, très accueillant, le service de navette transfert au top ! Les bagages déjà dans notre chambre à notre arrivée et le système de clé très astucieux ! Pouvoir louer matériel de snorkelling gratuitement super Par contre très déçu car mon conjoint a réservé un pilotis pour me demander en mariage. Bien que le pilotis soit très jolie nous avons eu le premier qui est nettement moins bien que les autres, descente à l’aide d’une échelle et non escaliers plus plate-forme comme les autres. Vue sur les autres chalets sur la plage et non sur le lagon. Pour le même prix et pour cette occasion spéciale on a été très déçue d’obtenir ce pilotis… Également une grosse déception car mon conjoint a appelé deux fois en amont pour réserver une table au restaurant sur la plage le soir de nos fiançailles et en arrivant sur place aucune réservation à notre nom alors que celle ci avait été confirmée la veille par téléphone… le pauvre était très mal à l’aise déjà qu’il était très stressé. Moyen moyen pour un hôtel de ce standing ! On voyage depuis 6 mois à travers le monde et on aurait aimee avoir des attentions comme des brosses à dents, après shampoing, chaussons, peignoirs comme on a connu dans d’autres hôtels nettement moins chers

Fomos bem recebidos ao chegar , mas no segundo dia mudamos de quarto e só recebemos a chave às 15:00 hs , horário do checkin , mas depois vimos que outros hóspedes pegaram a chave às 12:00 hs , bem mais cedo , e nos sentimos discriminados

Excellent staff. Very efficient service. Took care of all our needs even before we asked for it. Room had an excellent ocean view. Centrally located. Great value.

Nice property on the East side of island which gives you a different perspective. Resorts location interesting but nice. Off of the only road on island cut into hill and overwater bungalows on the beach very nice. Staff absolutely wonderful and helpful. Very nice resort that is definitely worth the trip. Beautiful sunrise

Very nice hotel with good breakfast, clean, in front of the beach, near to Matira beach. The only thing we didn’t like was the transportation from and to the airport. The bus is old, with no air conditioning, and expensive.

Very nice room, the beach was lovely and we enjoyed having access to the kayaks. There is a shop and restaurants in walking distance, as is the main public beach. The shuttle for the return journey to the airport is stress free, though a bit expensive for a place on a minibus (for 2 people it’s cheaper to get a taxi - we paid 3000 when we arrived). Breakfast was fine for the amount we were paying for a garden view, but for the amount some guests are paying it was very below par.

The bungalow we stayed in was dreamy. Honestly a big plus for our honeymoon. The à-la-carte restaurant (they have 2) was also good, and the staff was friendly. Location was perfect, in close proximity to Matira beach, where the sunset is amazing, and just a short drive/ride to the main city if you ever feel like going to it.

Great location, 5 minutes walk to Matira beach. The hotel's beach is also very good for swimming and snorkeling. The view from our room was fantastic.

Mayte Polynesia Bora Bora is punching well above its weight in terms of service delivery and quality of accommodations. Most of the competition costs a great deal more, across all price points. In my experience, few resorts rise to the level of high performance, and attention to detail, both with respect to customer relations, and to the maintenance of their property and grounds. The daily fair at the luncheon and dinner restaurant is a sufficiently high-quality and variety that one does not have to repeat any particular item unless one wishes to. The entrées and sides were consistently well prepared and tasty. My only disappointment was with the buffet at the breakfast restaurant (yes it is a different restaurant). There was absolutely no variety over time here, so what you have available on the first day will likely remain so throughout your stay. I had a devilish hard time getting eggs prepared “over easy“, and even when I asked for them “Sunnyside up,“ they were invariably burned. But this single disappointment seems minor to me in light of all that was done so very well, and at a reasonable price. I look forward to returning to Maitai Polynesia Bora Bora.

Fantastic setting; bungalow on beach was amazing. Breakfast was pretty awful but lunch and dinner restaurant are solid. staff are great and location is great. Best restaurant on island is a 5 minute walk called Lucky House

Wonderful resort in an excellent location! The beach was lovely and there were plenty of lounge chairs available. Loved the use of kayaks to go over to the snorkel site and around the resort. We rented a boat on the property and a scooter from Avis a short walk away. The only downside was the breakfast - the buffet looked terrible and was very expensive. We chose to order off the menu which was a far better option. Loved the ocean view room - definitely worth the steep walk. You could easily walk to Lucky House, Le Moana, and Bora Bora Beach Club.

From our upper floor room we had a beautiful view over the water to the reef. The room had a good sized balcony which we enjoyed every day. Even able to sit outside when it was raining as well protected. The bed was very comfortable and with housekeeping each day was appreciated. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and the tours we booked through the hotel were wonderful. Breakfast had a good selection of choices. We enjoyed dining at their restaurant by the water. Happy hour was good value too!

Dining options not so great. There was a gap between the breakfast cut off time at 9:30 and noon until the other restaurant opened up. The breakfast was a buffet. Pretty much the same thing every day. Unless you wanted to order a full-on dinner like steak or fish, the only American type for food in the other restaurant for lunch and dinner was spaghetti, a cheeseburger or pizza. You could not order a simple sandwich. I am not sure how children could eat each meal there with only these choices. I know my grandkids would not be very happy. The kids' choices were the same: spaghetti, cheeseburger or pizza. We did not venture to another property, but I am curious if this was the normal there for food or if it was just this property that was lacking food choices. Other than that, the property was clean, well maintained and the staff was very helpful.
