A nice place to stay especially if on a budget, they just upgraded the mattresses , nice improvements for this charming place a block from the beach with a chill rooftop city view for beautiful sunrises and sunsets

Cockroaches in bedroom

Cozy room space, safe box not working water in shower no pressure no elevator but authentic looking place

I truly wish there were a lesser rating to give the Baluarte Cartagena Hotel Boutique. In addition, I wish guests who have stayed there would leave an honest review. The rooms have old and outdated furniture. The sofa had paint speckles and a burn mark in one of the cushions. There was no blanket on the bed. I left out for the day, and when I returned, the room was not cleaned; when I asked why the room was not cleaned, I was told that the front desk has to be notified if a guest wants the room cleaned or serviced. The lobby aesthetics give a false perception of what to really expect in the room. Further, the safe in the room did not work to safeguard valuables, and when I brought it to the attention of the staff, I was told that they were aware of it and that they were trying to get a safe to put in the office to hold guest valuables for a fee. Also, if someone wanted to visit you, they charged a 50mil Colombian Peso fee, which is about $12-13 USD. At no time did they offer a discount or reimbursement for all the issues just a means to find a way to charge more hidden fees.
