On the boardwalk. Great ocean view. Plenty of dining and shopping locations within walking distance. No kitchens in room, so it’s really just a mini fridge and microwave. Very little parking available on site. Cramped area for vehicles that are trying to check in/out. Additional parking is a couple blocks away. This wasn’t a hassle for us, but to some it could be. The bar/restaurant (Calypso) connected to the hotel seems to be popular in the evenings. Didn’t cause any noise problems though.

Bathroom very well maintained, good thing. Room comfortable, pleasant smelling, safe available, nice balcony views. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Great location. Not enough handicap parking by building. Only about ten total spots by hotel. Remote parking not far but lot a little dark. AC was loud but staff said about to make some repairs in off-season.

Everything was great. The only thing is that the parking lot on site holds about 10 cars. You have a good walk to get to their parking lot.

Hotel and room were as advertised. Staff were helpful when the A/C unit in our room broke down. They didn’t give us a different room but worked with a technician to get it fixed within 4 hours. Parking was offsite one block away. I would have no doubt staying here again.

Pros: low price, great location right on the beach, all rooms are ocean view, staff very friendly, rooms were clean, daily housekeeping, restaurant on site. Also plenty of food and activity options within walking distance. Cons: Pool is not heated and pool area is pretty small with not enough loungers or chairs. Downside is that you may not find anywhere to sit, upside is pool area is never very crowded. Water is pretty cold though. Onsite restaurant (although not directly affiliated with the hotel) is not great. Food is average and way overpriced. Along with the mandatory 20% gratuity, I would opt for someplace else. Overall, this place is a good value for the money.

Hotel was very nice and had an excellent view. The calypso bar next door was very nice and convenient. Service is very slow for breakfast but good food. Unfortunately, does not have enough parking and if you have a disability only has 2 spaces. Was told it was first come first serve. Additional Parking is down a side street. Not convenient.

The positive side is the room was clean. However the view we paid extra for was obstructed by the roof and ac units of the restaurant. Didn’t have direct access to the beach as we had expected due to the race being set up on the boardwalk right in front of the property which would have been nice to know before booking. Of the two elevators only one worked and was always overflowing so used the stairs every time.

Beautiful views, close to everything. Dismal parking. Needed to walk block and a half. Room needed a few repairs, (bathroom), cabinet. Tv was wonky to start. Spinning wheel of death for a long time., but it worked. Help very pleasant and helpful.

First off I would like to start by saying when we first walked in the staff was very nice but that was the only thing nice about this place. The lobby looked NOTHING like pictured and that’s just the beginning. We walked into our room, which over view was basically a AC unit. There were stains all over the carpet, on the chairs. The bathroom smelled absolutely disgusting!! I called Expedia to explain to them what was going on and the lady of the phone was NOTHING short of amazing. The lady told us to go downstairs to speak with the manager which we did along with bringing all of our stuff down. The manager asked if we wanted a new room and I kindly declined after driving over 7 hours to this gross hotel I told her I just wanted to go home at this point. She states “we need to do a room check” she did a room check and says we are not getting a full refund due to DIRTY TOWELS! that’s when I lost my mind. I explained to her that those towels were not dirty from us and must of been from the guest before because we did not use ANYTHING in that room. After 2 hour going back and forth with Expedia and the manager of the hotel. We finally got a refund. We were disappointment and our trip was completely ruined. DO NO book with this hotel it’s very dirty!!!

I was so disappointed by this hotel. It’s not fair that hotels such as these can charge an average of $400 a night and we are left to fix the toilet every time we used the bathroom, dirty carpets, furniture and water bugs/roaches The staff was really nice and I hope the higher up management takes the lead and fixes these issues so they may excel alongside a property that cares about the guest. Front desk can only do so much. Front desk sent maintenance multiple times during our 3 day stay but nobody was able to replace the part in the toilet tank that kept causing us issues. We gave and literally had to open the toilet tank and fill up the tank ourselves by pushing the fill valve down, wait for it to fill and then flush. We left the top off the tank for the remainder of our trip. Just very inconvenient and at 3 nights for $1160 is a scam. On arrival we also had carpet that was not vacuumed, there were peanuts and chocolate bits on the floor and crumbs all over. No attention to detail. Stained furniture uncomfortable beds although the sheets were very soft and those were clean as well as towels. Front desk said they would send someone up to vacuum & check the toilet while we were at dinner our night of arrival and never did. We saw multiple roaches/water bugs in the elevator as well. It was just an unfortunate situation and hotel stay. We won’t be returning. The smell of marijuana also perforated the halls, elevator and outdoor area, just not a good vacation stay.

The listing makes this place look wonderful. It’s no better than a cheap motel. Our room smelled so disgusting of mildew. The carpet was all damp when we arrived. I thought maybe they did a carpet cleaning or something and it would dry shortly. It did not over the course of 2.5 days. I touched it and my hand smelled foul. We could not walk in the room without shoes. I complained and they did send two very nice maintenance men. They cleaned the air conditioner with a noxious chemical and sprinkled carpet powder around. Me and my daughter caught an asthma attack from the chemicals and had to vacate for a while. The housekeeper took our bath towels before 1100 and after 3 inquiries, we finally got towels almost 6 hours later. We wanted to shower after getting sandy at the beach. I am baffled at how this run down piece of garbage has 8/10 rating. Maybe we got the worst room they have. It wasn’t even cheaper than our usual go-tos. I just wanted an outdoor pool, so I selected this place. One positive was that they did give out free bottles of water and fruit.

Natalie @ the front desk was awesome! Great customer service, and attention to details. However, upon a closer inspection of the room and the overall look of the hotel, I was not happy at all. In my room The carpet was not vacuumed, had big stains, & was sticky. The AC unit made a loud noise that sounded like a plane, landing, or taking off. I put the TV volume on 30 and still couldn’t hear over the AC! The AC had black dust balls coming out of it onto the second bed. The overall air quality in the room felt very dusty with a bad Underlying scent. The toilet did not want to flush. The sink was clogged and had black stuff coming up out the sink. The shower had low water pressure and the lighting in the bathroom was uncommonly dim? The toiletries offered were of the lowest & poorest quality like “water”? They were awful!!! On top of the noisy a/c the beds are not comfortable and it felt as if the mattress had no filler (hollow) One of the beds had sand on & in it. Paint was chipping from the door in the entryway of the room and was so narrow. Overall this hotel needs a huge renovation. I won’t be returning nor Will I recommend that anyone else stay here if you’re looking for a decent quality hotel this one is not “even” that go elsewhere. Trust me. I was supposed to stay 2 nights and ended up leaving immediately the next day. That’s how bad it was …UGH…never again.

Pros: Rooms were sound proof, staff was friendly, parking and layout of hotel was convenient. Convenient area to walk to beach, restaurants, stores and fun park. Cons: very small bathroom with stain in tub, bathroom door was very difficult to shut and open, room service never once serviced the room because they would only come around 9am and if we were still in the room just wouldnt come back. They did give us more towels upon request. The restaurant on site had a very small menu and was overpriced.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights with my partner. We had one room with ocean front king size bed. The staff were courteous and helpful. I like that the property was conveniently located by the beach and I could walk to nearby restaurants. I would not stay at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone due to the following: very uncomfortable bedding. The mattress felt like an air mattress and the pillows were similar. The pillows were very small as well. Additionally, the AC made a loud noise which made it impossible to relax or sleep. Due to all of these I didn’t get a good sleep. I felt exhausted and tired during the day due to the lack of sleep. I wanted to complain about the bedding and noise, but my partner discouraged me from it. His reasoning was weren’t staying there long. Lastly, I didn’t like that the carpet in the room had a huge stain and the sofa bed in the room was very dirty and it has stains all over it. We avoided sitting on it the whole time.

I like that the property was conveniently located by the beach and I could walk to nearby restaurants. We paid for a mini sweet with a balcony, with full view of the ocean. What we got was a beautiful view of the hotel’s air conditions that were even with our balcony. When we complained a wanted our room changed since we were going to be there all week they made excuses to why the wouldn’t move us! We were very disappointed to say the least

The hotel could use updating. Some things appeared newer but they are mixed in with outdated things or things in disrepair. For example, our balcony looked out at HVAC units and the roof. Our room AC made a horribly loud rattle noise periodically that woke me up every time. The toilet didn’t flush well. The fridge wasn’t cold and the usb charging ports didn’t work. Also, out of four times I went to get coffee in the hotel lobby, only one time was there actually coffee available. It was an okay stay, but I will look for someplace different next year. Staff was friendly, but not too eager to please.

Every single room overlooks the Club down on the main level. I was there for one night and wanted peace and quiet and to sit and listen to the ocean. Unfortunately, there was live music from 10pm-2am and when I opened the door to the balcony, all I could hear was the club and the A/C units right behind it. When I asked if there was another room further away, the front desk said they all look out over the club, but she could put me on the top floor. I moved up 3 floors, but unfortunately, the sound carried and I still couldn't hear the ocean at all. I ended up leaving and found another, quieter hotel to stay at. The only silver lining is that even though it was technically a non-refundable rate (and I was prepared to lose my rewards and the $ I'd spent to book the room), I was pleasantly surprised to see an email this morning that it was being refunded. Which is why I awarded them an extra star. Otherwise it would have been a 1-star rating from me for sure.

I never leave reviews but this hotel was AWFUL. Staff at the front desk never smiled and acted like they hated their jobs. They were so cranky and always seemed so bothered when guests went to counter. They would rather watch tv in the lobby and ignore guests. Our balcony at check in was dirty and just overall the entire hotel was dirty. There was BLOOD on our balcony curtains!! There was always an inconvenient wait for the two elevators. Just a gross hotel all around. Will never ever recommend.

The front staff was friendly. We did not have hot water in our shower or sink and asked for assistance 3 times and no one came to look at it, another room or accommodations were offered. Housekeeping did not refill our toilet paper and only half way made the beds. The hallways smelled of marijuana, despite the no smoking signs clearly labeled all over the hotel. We will not be staying here again.

Great location and the staff was excellent. The ladies at the front counter went above and beyond with their helpful tips on where to shop, eat, site see and even get balloons & supplies for my sons birthday. I was very impressed.

You will be pleasantly surprised. I wanted a hotel that was oceanfront so it would be easier to get to the beach with all out beach chairs, cooler, stuff etc. From the morning of our first day of check in to checking out the staff is excellent, I would come back again just for the staff. They are so pleasant, friendly and helpful. Also, I loved the texts I received asking if our stay was going well and if we had any questions. The room itself was very spacious and you do get a great oceanfront view! There is also a coffeemaker, microwave and a mini frig and can hold a lot of food. We decided to go to Harris Teeter that is close y and stock up on snacks, drinks and frozen dinners and the frig had ample space. The parking is tricky. I’ve day I was nervous to leave cause I didn’t know if I would have a parking space when I came back cause it was full and people were circling around and around. Also you can get stuck waiting a buy at the elevator. Only 2 and can take a while to get on. The icemaker on the 7th floor was out of service our entire stay which was annoying but we just took the stairs down. They gave ice makers on levels 3, 5 and 7. They also have a nice station for ice water, etc in the lobby and free water bottles which was very convenient. You are also close to everything but recommend venturing out further for food cause it’s a rip off if you get food nearby. Pizza is about $30 but there is a Dominos which is 2/3 the price. Would definitely stay again.

Confirmed reservation and asked for a pack and play they added a note. When arrived asked for a pack and play and the said it will be right up. Went for a walk and returned to the room and no pack and play asked again gave room number and again they said be right up. Went to eat and returned to no pack and play. Went to the desk and asked again gave room number and they said be right up I said I’ve heard this twice already and the clerk replied I got you this time. No pack and play came.

Among the hundred or so places in Virginia Beach, Surfbreak is an entirely serviceable place to stay. Its oceanfront location is ideal, the rooms are comfortable but campy, and while on-site parking is a challenge, there is a large and safe lot to park in that's just a 3-minute walk away. Right next door is a 4 Points that's $450 a night. Surfbreak is a clear value and worth a night or two.

First time in VA beach and it was a lovely beach town. We are from New Jersey so we are not strangers to beach towns. This was a clean and well maintained hotel. The pool was always clean. Housekeeping could have been a little more tidy. Other than that I would highly recommend. The restaurant on property called Calypso was great as well, and had a good happy hour daily.

Pros: The location was great, staff were very friendly suite was a good size. Cons: PARKING: with a suite that sleeps 6 you are only given 1 parking spot that is included with your stay. Parking at the same lot was $40 a night for one of our guests in the same room. ROOM KEYS: both our room keys were deactivated multiple times a day and we had the hassle to go back down from the 6th floor on a slow elevator to reactivate them. Staff blamed it on being too close to electronic devices, which they were not. Room: the room was nice but cleanliness was lacking. When pulling out the sofa bed the sheets were dirty and no extra linen for the sofa bed. There were stains on carpet, ottoman and couch. Holes in walls and couch. BUG: there was a cockroach in the room, local family assured us that they are very common in the area and shouldn’t be worried, but it was still gross. We checked the room and our belongings for more. And that was the only one seen. We travel a lot with large parties and like to experience new places. And if we like a hotel we will return multiple times. But unfortunately we will not book here again.

Pros: low price, great location right on the beach, all rooms are ocean view, staff very friendly, rooms were clean, daily housekeeping, restaurant on site. Also plenty of food and activity options within walking distance. Cons: Pool is not heated and pool area is pretty small with not enough loungers or chairs. Downside is that you may not find anywhere to sit, upside is pool area is never very crowded. Water is pretty cold though. Onsite restaurant (although not directly affiliated with the hotel) is not great. Food is average and way overpriced. Along with the mandatory 20% gratuity, I would opt for someplace else. Overall, this place is a good value for the money.

Onsite restaurant (although not directly affiliated with the hotel) is not great. Food is average and way overpriced. Along with the mandatory 20% gratuity, I would opt for someplace else. Overall, this place is a good value for the money.

Hotel was very nice and had an excellent view. The calypso bar next door was very nice and convenient. Service is very slow for breakfast but good food. Unfortunately, does not have enough parking and if you have a disability only has 2 spaces. Was told it was first come first serve. Additional Parking is down a side street. Not convenient.

The front desk woman was absolutely wonderful and helpful. We had issues with our keys she fixed them right away and came back to the door with us to make sure the key worked. I have never been to a hotel, that the staff were so friendly and helpful.

The room wasnt bad, the toilet was horrible, the toilet didn't flush properly, house keeping did not clean our room 4 out of the 6 nights we stayed, we had no soap, shampoo or wash cloths, no coffee , and the parking is terrible. Our door key did not work five times. They had to reprogram the lock once.

Relatively clean, spacious room. Great oceanfront views. Parking is not onsite, but rather a couple of blocks away - wasn't a problem - but we weren't totally aware of that prior. Beware of dining in the Calypso Bar & Grill in the hotel - they have a terrible roach problem. My husband saw multiple large roaches running all over the dining area while people were dining.
