The house was exactly like the listing mentioned. I loved the clean and simple home with the wooden animal decor. The home and outdoor area have a lot to offer. We loved the pool table, railroad tracks and river. The spiral staircase was loved by the kids, the only challenge was when we brought our luggage up or down the steps (but it is manageable). The driveway, as mentioned in the listing, was very long and steep and luckily we did not have any snow we had to drive in. Since it was a shared driveway with another home, we did have a fear of driving down the driveway while the other car was going up since it is really narrow for 2 cars to pass. We did not run into any issues with that. Cheryl was very quick to respond and answer any questions which was very reassuring. There is no phone signal around the area, but the WiFi worked really well! It was a great home and the whole family really enjoyed it!

The house is very nice, the area is beautiful and very private and relaxing. We came with extended family (6 adults, 3 children) and had plenty of room for everyone. As everyone has mentioned, the stairs can be challenging, but are not unmanageable. Some in our party preferred to walk the driveway up and down. The fire pit is great. I recommend ordering the wood. It was there, stacked, covered, and ready for us when we arrived. Cheryl is a great host, very helpful, and responded quickly to messages. The beach area is a short walk, but worth it. I would recommend life vests for littles as the water is deep and swift in some areas. However there are other areas that are calm and more shallow. Plenty of areas to fish as well. All in all, we had a wonderful time. There was something for everyone to do, if they wanted to do more than just relax in the peaceul surroundings. If I were to make any suggestions, I would say maybe a few extra towels for showering or cleaning up spills and a new set of tupperware as some was cracked or missing lids, but we really did not have any complaints at all. We had an amazing 7 nights. We would definitely go again.

We were there in early August of 23. The cabin is beautiful and in a beautiful setting, but it is very secluded. 40 mins or so to any gas or groceries so plan accordingly. The road in is pretty rough, but we made it with some non 4 wheel drive vehicles. The cabin has lots of great amenities and the owners are very attentive and friendly. The AC died a couple of days after we got there and they showed up almost immediately with window units. They got the AC fixed within a couple of days. The river is close and very walkable and was fun and/or relaxing depending on what you want to do. There is a sandy beach like area to hang out. We took inflatable tubes and floated down a mile or two then walked the railroad tracks back which go right by the cabin. Only 1 train went by the entire week we were there so train noise wasnt an issue. Even though it is remote, the wifi worked great all week. There are several parks less than an hour away with great trails and a wildlife center 15 mins away where you can see some cool animals. We had a great trip and would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a beautiful place in the woods

First off, we stayed during the crazy snow and wind storm christmas of 2022. The drive to the cabin is very hilly and windy and narrow. But we did it even in the snow and ice (4wheel drive was a must for that). You truly are in the middle of no where. But the cabin was beautiful, clean and honestly very spacious. The kitchen was very well equipped. Wifi worked great (all 4 of us were streaming and watching tv). The pool table was so fun. Yes the staircase is small and throws you for a loop the first time or two. but then it was fine. Up and down we went. We played lots of pool, watched lots of tv and just relaxed a ton. They had a tiny christmas tree there, which was perfect. Great deck if the weather was better. Master is downstairs and is chilly. but they had an extra heater for us. We just stuck the heater in the room a few hrs before bed with door shut and boom we were super cozy! We would like to come back and hike in the summer. Owners were prompt at answering and just the sweetest!

This is a beautiful, quiet spot by the river. House is clean and comfortable and we enjoyed sitting on the deck and by the fire pit. The river is gorgeous, we saw eagle and river otters! The stairs in the house were tricky to navigate for our pregnant friend but you can easily walk outside between the two floors of the house. Thank you for sharing your quiet retreat with us!

The cabin is well secluded but in a nice piece a land. The creek access has a large swim area unfortunately it was too cold for a dip (I visit in February) but we still sat there and just enjoyed the view and the sounds. The cabin itself was well stocked, with wifi and entertainment. We didn’t get bored my family didn’t even have the urge to venture around the town all they wanted to do is stay in. I do recommend to order the wood and fire starters from the host, it rained but she had covered them and it was dry and waiting for us to be ready for our night around the fire. It made it easy. It was great, we enjoyed it very much.

We loved our stay here. The cabin is very isolated and at the bottom of a gravel driveway that made us a little nervous the first time down. The cabin itself is clean and well kept. We enjoyed swimming and fishing in the river and walking up and down the train tracks, as well as having a campfire at night and playing cornhole, pool, and lots of board games. We did do a bit of exploring in the area which meant a lot of driving as the cabin is really out there! If you want to get away from it all, this is a great place to do it!

We had a great time at Cheryl’s cabin! The river (across railroad tracks and through a small strip of trees- about 2 min walk) is beautiful! We tried to tube the river but it was a bit low in areas. We enjoyed it nonetheless - down river is remote and scenic. There are a few swim holes near the cabin (about 4 to 5 feet deep in spots) that are beautiful with clear water, sand/rock beaches, and large rocks cropping out of the river bed. We hiked around the property looking for small caves, and along the railroad tracks. Made a visit to the Wildlife Center (fun and a beautiful walk). We went to Helvetia, a tiny town founded by Swiss craftsmen, that has a general store, a cheese shop, wood furniture/art shop, local honey store and a Swiss restaurant. Be aware- the restaurant/ stores have limited operating hours - most are only open from Wednesday to Saturday, so plan ahead. The town has a picturesque stream, a bridge landscaped with flower boxes, and other small garden areas throughout. My family hiked the historical trail and a dog named Buck, who lived in the house next to the general store, walked the 2.8 mile trail with us and even showed us where to go a few times. He was such a great guide! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed! We made hotdogs and smores on the fire pit. The night sky was amazing! We lost power for a few hours due to work being done, but Cheryl was at the cabin within minutes to let us know. NBD. It was a great stay and very family friendly!

This was our second time staying at this property, plenty of sleeping arrangements for our group, we love this place it’s by the river we did a little fishing while we was there , the place is always clean when we arrive and the host is wonderful to work with, the only thing that I would say needs maybe looked into is the water pressure but nothing we couldn’t deal with!! Wonderful place we will be back!!

It was amazing and peaceful! We enjoyed the family quality time as well as time by the river, fishing, some hiking and cruising around the roads. The cabin is very clean and cozy!

There had been snow prior to our arrival which had apparently melted some during the day of our check in. As the temperature dropped, the long, hilly driveway became ice. Our expedition turned in to a sled but luckily did not go down the hill on the side of the drive. After parking and walking to the cabin, roughly half mile, we figured our trip was doomed. After talking to Cheryl and sliding some more the next day, she made arrangements for gravel to be delivered. The temperature rose enough for the driveway to be drive able the next two days so all ended well. Cheryl was great and was very apologetic. The trip otherwise was amazing. The property was super clean and welcoming. The cabin is very cute and was just the right size. The spiral steps are kind of a pain for non children sized people but that and the softened of the downstairs bed were our only gripes if we're being picky. The location near the river was peaceful and private! We loved the full kitchen and having a charcoal grill was nice. Sitting by the electric fireplace, with a small Christmas tree nearby was an amazing way to end each night! We will be staying again as we loved the property and Cheryl was a great host!

We went to Helvetia, a tiny town founded by Swiss craftsmen, that has a general store, a cheese shop, wood furniture/art shop, local honey store and a Swiss restaurant. Be aware- the restaurant/ stores have limited operating hours - most are only open from Wednesday to Saturday, so plan ahead. The town has a picturesque stream, a bridge landscaped with flower boxes, and other small garden areas throughout. My family hiked the historical trail and a dog named Buck, who lived in the house next to the general store, walked the 2.8 mile trail with us and even showed us where to go a few times. He was such a great guide! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed! We made hotdogs and smores on the fire pit. The night sky was amazing! We lost power for a few hours due to work being done, but Cheryl was at the cabin within minutes to let us know. NBD. It was a great stay and very family friendly!

We enjoyed it nonetheless - down river is remote and scenic. The house was exactly like the listing mentioned. I loved the clean and simple home with the wooden animal decor. The home and outdoor area have a lot to offer. We loved the pool table, railroad tracks and river. The spiral staircase was loved by the kids, the only challenge was when we brought our luggage up or down the steps (but it is manageable). The driveway, as mentioned in the listing, was very long and steep and luckily we did not have any snow we had to drive in. Since it was a shared driveway with another home, we did have a fear of driving down the driveway while the other car was going up since it is really narrow for 2 cars to pass. We did not run into any issues with that. Cheryl was very quick to respond and answer any questions which was very reassuring. There is no phone signal around the area, but the WiFi worked really well! It was a great home and the whole family really enjoyed it!

The house is very nice, the area is beautiful and very private and relaxing. We came with extended family (6 adults, 3 children) and had plenty of room for everyone. As everyone has mentioned, the stairs can be challenging, but are not unmanageable. Some in our party preferred to walk the driveway up and down. The fire pit is great. I recommend ordering the wood. It was there, stacked, covered, and ready for us when we arrived. Cheryl is a great host, very helpful, and responded quickly to messages. The beach area is a short walk, but worth it. I would recommend life vests for littles as the water is deep and swift in some areas. However there are other areas that are calm and more shallow. Plenty of areas to fish as well. All in all, we had a wonderful time. There was something for everyone to do, if they wanted to do more than just relax in the peaceul surroundings. If I were to make any suggestions, I would say maybe a few extra towels for showering or cleaning up spills and a new set of tupperware as some was cracked or missing lids, but we really did not have any complaints at all. We had an amazing 7 nights. We would definitely go again.

First off, we stayed during the crazy snow and wind storm christmas of 2022. The drive to the cabin is very hilly and windy and narrow. But we did it even in the snow and ice (4wheel drive was a must for that). You truly are in the middle of no where. But the cabin was beautiful, clean and honestly very spacious. The kitchen was very well equipped. Wifi worked great (all 4 of us were streaming and watching tv). The pool table was so fun. Yes the staircase is small and throws you for a loop the first time or two. but then it was fine. Up and down we went. We played lots of pool, watched lots of tv and just relaxed a ton. They had a tiny christmas tree there, which was perfect. Great deck if the weather was better. Master is downstairs and is chilly. but they had an extra heater for us. We just stuck the heater in the room a few hrs before bed with door shut and boom we were super cozy! We would like to come back and hike in the summer. Owners were prompt at answering and just the sweetest!

This is a beautiful, quiet spot by the river. House is clean and comfortable and we enjoyed sitting on the deck and by the fire pit. The river is gorgeous, we saw eagle and river otters! The stairs in the house were tricky to navigate for our pregnant friend but you can easily walk outside between the two floors of the house. Thank you for sharing your quiet retreat with us!

We were a group of 10 (2 families: 4 adults, 2 elderly people, 4 kids).1. 10 people is the listed occupancy of this property, however, the position of beds in rooms is not logical at all as you would not place 4 adults in one room. There is also an air mattress but be aware that there is no space to put it. 2. The noise from the water filtration system was a huge issue. It kept all of us awake at night so we could not rest properly. Every time one of two toilets is flushed or you open any tab for a longer time it starts working. People upstairs woke up every time and forget about sleeping in the bedroom adjucent to the bathroom where that system is placed. 3. There are only metal winding stairs that are not suitable as the only means of getting from level to level. Incredibly narrow, sharp and steep. The only other option to get up and downstairs is to go around the house in darkness at night or when it's raining is not a good option either.One adult fell on those stairs and I slid injuring my elbow. And we didn't let the kids use it to be on the safe side.A table for ten people would be a plus, otherwise some people have to sit at the table while others at the kitchen island.Warmer blankets would be greatly appreciated. Getting to the property was inconvenient. It was mentioned in the description in several places but the narrow off-road way with stones is extensive it's not only the driveway. Other than the property is nice, cosy, has everything you need.

On the wall of the Wildwood Cabin at Paradise in the Woods is a poster that says, "And into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul." Our experience there provided the perfect opportunity to detach from our workaday world, listen to the river, and watch the leaves fall. Cheryl was an incredible host, providing detailed directions to the property and responding quickly to my pre-visit questions. The cabin was very clean and bright and loaded with amenities to make our stay comfortable. The decor was "woodsy" and complemented the mood of the property. There was ample room for our group of 5 adults to spread out for "me time" and gather together for meals, games, and camp fires. There are a few things for which travelers must prepare: The private "driveway" to the Cabin is long and narrow, a combination of dirt and gravel, with lots of ruts. Winter visitors are advised to bring their four-wheel drive vehicles. The circular stairway leading from the main floor to the ground floor is very narrow and almost impossible to navigate while carrying luggage or munchies; however, it is possible to go outside and around to access the area. The water smells of sulfur. It is soft and fine for showering, but we recommend bringing drinking water. Finally, the Cabin is truly out in the middle of nowhere, and there's little to do in the "nearby" towns (besides the Insane Asylum), so plan to stay in and enjoy the togetherness. We did.

This was our second time staying at this property, plenty of sleeping arrangements for our group, we love this place it’s by the river we did a little fishing while we was there , the place is always clean when we arrive and the host is wonderful to work with, the only thing that I would say needs maybe looked into is the water pressure but nothing we couldn’t deal with!! Wonderful place we will be back!!

We LOVED our week-long stay at this cabin in French Creek! The property description was spot on, so there were no surprises for us upon arrival. Asking any remaining questions or concerns up front prior to booking or your arrival is vital, and this host (Cheryl) was wonderful in both her communication and responsiveness to every question asked! Pretty much anywhere you stay in WV is going to be 20min or more from your typical shopping options and chain restaurants. Growing up in the hills of Appalachia, we judge "how far" some place is, by the time it takes to get there (not the distance). Read the description and Cheryl gives you an idea of how much time it will take to get to French Creek where there is a Dollar General and a diner (Bucks was a favorite), or Buckhannon where you can find a Kroger and a several small town shops and eateries (we could live on CJ Maggie\'s, very extensive menu!). The driveway to this cabin and it\'s bigger sister, is about 1/2 mile long and very rough - similarly as rough as the gravel road leading to the driveway. I don\'t consider this anything Cheryl can do much about...if you\'ve ever lived in the hills/mountains, you know the difficulty with maintaining a smooth gravel road or driveway, especially one clinging to the side of a mountain next to a ravine. Cheryl\'s description is up front about this, so it should not be a knock on her rating if you choose to stay here. The road to seclusion is rarely paved, else it would be crowded :-)

We were there in early August of 23. The cabin is beautiful and in a beautiful setting, but it is very secluded. 40 mins or so to any gas or groceries so plan accordingly. The road in is pretty rough, but we made it with some non 4 wheel drive vehicles. The cabin has lots of great amenities and the owners are very attentive and friendly. The AC died a couple of days after we got there and they showed up almost immediately with window units. They got the AC fixed within a couple of days. The river is close and very walkable and was fun and/or relaxing depending on what you want to do. There is a sandy beach like area to hang out. We took inflatable tubes and floated down a mile or two then walked the railroad tracks back which go right by the cabin. Only 1 train went by the entire week we were there so train noise wasnt an issue. Even though it is remote, the wifi worked great all week. There are several parks less than an hour away with great trails and a wildlife center 15 mins away where you can see some cool animals. We had a great trip and would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a beautiful place in the woods

There had been snow prior to our arrival which had apparently melted some during the day of our check in. As the temperature dropped, the long, hilly driveway became ice. Our expedition turned in to a sled but luckily did not go down the hill on the side of the drive. After parking and walking to the cabin, roughly half mile, we figured our trip was doomed. After talking to Cheryl and sliding some more the next day, she made arrangements for gravel to be delivered. The temperature rose enough for the driveway to be drive able the next two days so all ended well. Cheryl was great and was very apologetic. The trip otherwise was amazing. The property was super clean and welcoming. The cabin is very cute and was just the right size. The spiral steps are kind of a pain for non children sized people but that and the softened of the downstairs bed were our only gripes if we're being picky. The location near the river was peaceful and private! We loved the full kitchen and having a charcoal grill was nice. Sitting by the electric fireplace, with a small Christmas tree nearby was an amazing way to end each night! We will be staying again as we loved the property and Cheryl was a great host!

Our expedition turned in to a sled but luckily did not go down the hill on the side of the drive. After parking and walking to the cabin, roughly half mile, we figured our trip was doomed. After talking to Cheryl and sliding some more the next day, she made arrangements for gravel to be delivered. The temperature rose enough for the driveway to be drive able the next two days so all ended well. Cheryl was great and was very apologetic. The trip otherwise was amazing. The property was super clean and welcoming. The cabin is very cute and was just the right size. The spiral steps are kind of a pain for non children sized people but that and the softened of the downstairs bed were our only gripes if we're being picky. The location near the river was peaceful and private! We loved the full kitchen and having a charcoal grill was nice. Sitting by the electric fireplace, with a small Christmas tree nearby was an amazing way to end each night! We will be staying again as we loved the property and Cheryl was a great host!

On the wall of the Wildwood Cabin at Paradise in the Woods is a poster that says, "And into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul." Our experience there provided the perfect opportunity to detach from our workaday world, listen to the river, and watch the leaves fall. Cheryl was an incredible host, providing detailed directions to the property and responding quickly to my pre-visit questions. The cabin was very clean and bright and loaded with amenities to make our stay comfortable. The decor was "woodsy" and complemented the mood of the property. There was ample room for our group of 5 adults to spread out for "me time" and gather together for meals, games, and camp fires. There are a few things for which travelers must prepare: The private "driveway" to the Cabin is long and narrow, a combination of dirt and gravel, with lots of ruts. Winter visitors are advised to bring their four-wheel drive vehicles. The circular stairway leading from the main floor to the ground floor is very narrow and almost impossible to navigate while carrying luggage or munchies; however, it is possible to go outside and around to access the area. The water smells of sulfur. It is soft and fine for showering, but we recommend bringing drinking water. Finally, the Cabin is truly out in the middle of nowhere, and there's little to do in the "nearby" towns (besides the Insane Asylum), so plan to stay in and enjoy the togetherness. We did.

The house was exactly like the listing mentioned. I loved the clean and simple home with the wooden animal decor. The home and outdoor area have a lot to offer. We loved the pool table, railroad tracks and river. The spiral staircase was loved by the kids, the only challenge was when we brought our luggage up or down the steps (but it is manageable). The driveway, as mentioned in the listing, was very long and steep and luckily we did not have any snow we had to drive in. Since it was a shared driveway with another home, we did have a fear of driving down the driveway while the other car was going up since it is really narrow for 2 cars to pass. We did not run into any issues with that. Cheryl was very quick to respond and answer any questions which was very reassuring. There is no phone signal around the area, but the WiFi worked really well! It was a great home and the whole family really enjoyed it!

We LOVED our week-long stay at this cabin in French Creek! The property description was spot on, so there were no surprises for us upon arrival. Asking any remaining questions or concerns up front prior to booking or your arrival is vital, and this host (Cheryl) was wonderful in both her communication and responsiveness to every question asked! Pretty much anywhere you stay in WV is going to be 20min or more from your typical shopping options and chain restaurants. Growing up in the hills of Appalachia, we judge "how far" some place is, by the time it takes to get there (not the distance). Read the description and Cheryl gives you an idea of how much time it will take to get to French Creek where there is a Dollar General and a diner (Bucks was a favorite), or Buckhannon where you can find a Kroger and a several small town shops and eateries (we could live on CJ Maggie\'s, very extensive menu!). The driveway to this cabin and it\'s bigger sister, is about 1/2 mile long and very rough - similarly as rough as the gravel road leading to the driveway. I don\'t consider this anything Cheryl can do much about...if you\'ve ever lived in the hills/mountains, you know the difficulty with maintaining a smooth gravel road or driveway, especially one clinging to the side of a mountain next to a ravine. Cheryl\'s description is up front about this, so it should not be a knock on her rating if you choose to stay here. The road to seclusion is rarely paved, else it would be crowded :-)

We were there in early August of 23. The cabin is beautiful and in a beautiful setting, but it is very secluded. 40 mins or so to any gas or groceries so plan accordingly. The road in is pretty rough, but we made it with some non 4 wheel drive vehicles. The cabin has lots of great amenities and the owners are very attentive and friendly. The AC died a couple of days after we got there and they showed up almost immediately with window units. They got the AC fixed within a couple of days. The river is close and very walkable and was fun and/or relaxing depending on what you want to do. There is a sandy beach like area to hang out. We took inflatable tubes and floated down a mile or two then walked the railroad tracks back which go right by the cabin. Only 1 train went by the entire week we were there so train noise wasnt an issue. Even though it is remote, the wifi worked great all week. There are several parks less than an hour away with great trails and a wildlife center 15 mins away where you can see some cool animals. We had a great trip and would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a beautiful place in the woods

We loved our stay here. The cabin is very isolated and at the bottom of a gravel driveway that made us a little nervous the first time down. The cabin itself is clean and well kept. We enjoyed swimming and fishing in the river and walking up and down the train tracks, as well as having a campfire at night and playing cornhole, pool, and lots of board games. We did do a bit of exploring in the area which meant a lot of driving as the cabin is really out there! If you want to get away from it all, this is a great place to do it!

Our family loved our week here at the house. So beautiful, quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the river and swim hole, walks along the train tracks and evenings by the fire pit. Thank you for allowing us to spend time at your wonderful home!

We had a great time at Cheryl’s cabin! The river (across railroad tracks and through a small strip of trees- about 2 min walk) is beautiful! We tried to tube the river but it was a bit low in areas. We enjoyed it nonetheless - down river is remote and scenic. There are a few swim holes near the cabin (about 4 to 5 feet deep in spots) that are beautiful with clear water, sand/rock beaches, and large rocks cropping out of the river bed. We hiked around the property looking for small caves, and along the railroad tracks. Made a visit to the Wildlife Center (fun and a beautiful walk). We went to Helvetia, a tiny town founded by Swiss craftsmen, that has a general store, a cheese shop, wood furniture/art shop, local honey store and a Swiss restaurant. Be aware- the restaurant/ stores have limited operating hours - most are only open from Wednesday to Saturday, so plan ahead. The town has a picturesque stream, a bridge landscaped with flower boxes, and other small garden areas throughout. My family hiked the historical trail and a dog named Buck, who lived in the house next to the general store, walked the 2.8 mile trail with us and even showed us where to go a few times. He was such a great guide! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed! We made hotdogs and smores on the fire pit. The night sky was amazing! We lost power for a few hours due to work being done, but Cheryl was at the cabin within minutes to let us know. NBD. It was a great stay and very family friendly!

Was a beautiful cabin but those steps going down stairs is a killer you can not get anything up or down the steps but you. But would not stop us from renting again .

We were a group of 10 (2 families: 4 adults, 2 elderly people, 4 kids).1. 10 people is the listed occupancy of this property, however, the position of beds in rooms is not logical at all as you would not place 4 adults in one room. There is also an air mattress but be aware that there is no space to put it. 2. The noise from the water filtration system was a huge issue. It kept all of us awake at night so we could not rest properly. Every time one of two toilets is flushed or you open any tab for a longer time it starts working. People upstairs woke up every time and forget about sleeping in the bedroom adjucent to the bathroom where that system is placed. 3. There are only metal winding stairs that are not suitable as the only means of getting from level to level. Incredibly narrow, sharp and steep. The only other option to get up and downstairs is to go around the house in darkness at night or when it's raining is not a good option either.One adult fell on those stairs and I slid injuring my elbow. And we didn't let the kids use it to be on the safe side.A table for ten people would be a plus, otherwise some people have to sit at the table while others at the kitchen island.Warmer blankets would be greatly appreciated. Getting to the property was inconvenient. It was mentioned in the description in several places but the narrow off-road way with stones is extensive it's not only the driveway. Other than the property is nice, cosy, has everything you need.
