Loved the staff and the onsite spa. The room was spacious and well appointed. The fireplace and jetted tub were great. There is a nice little exercise room that has a treadmill, bike and eliptical. Bed was fairly comfortable but I wish there were a few nicer quality pillows

It is a beautiful hotel with a lot of character. The spa is a plus. Not much of a gym though: Minimum space and equipment. The Bistro -the hotel restaurant- has a really very small menu for breakfast with only regular coffee. When we were there they even had run out of milk. Didn’t stay for breakfast. After that not tempted to try lunch/dinner.

I was here to visit my daughter at Ithaca College. Overall the hotel was nice. I think it could use a little updating, but it was cozy and the room was spacious. My one disappointment was that because of my daughter's schedule, I knew I would be doing some meals alone. When I booked here, they had a full restaurant on site and a lounge with a bar menu. But when I was there, the restaurant was permanently closed and the lounge was not serving food. I was not made aware of this until I went down to grab dinner before my daughter's concert, so I had to scramble to find a quick meal somewhere else. I did enjoy a spa treatment there. The August Moon Spa was very nice and I recommend Garth as a masseuse. I also took a lovely hike by using a path at the back of the property that connects to the upper part of Buttermilk Falls. Overall, it is a lovely hotel that is more peaceful than the downtown hotels and close to Ithaca College.

I’ve stayed at this hotel before and really love the tranquil setting and friendly staff. It’s conveniently located to downtown but not in the middle of the sometimes busy, congested Commons area. The wine hour and proximity to Buttermilk Falls are bonuses too.

We have stayed at La Tourelle numerous times throughout the last four years. The property was recently sold. The lobby was inaccessible. The Bistro was closed. Rooms are less impressive than they used to be. Overall, it is no longer worth the cost.

We just really enjoyed the stay--the grounds (sitting in a gazebo for morning coffee), the concerts and food trucks in the "back yard", and the quiet. It was very relaxing. We are just sorry we did not get to utilize the on site spa.

We stayed at La Tourelle while visiting Cornell University. We had a busy schedule, so we did not use many of the hotel amenities, but overall we were very pleased with our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful; we arrived very late to the property (after 3am) and there was still staff there to greet us and get us checked in. Our room was very clean and spacious and had a nice view of the grounds. Would definitely stay again if we are back in the area.

Outside is 5 stars and staff is amazing. But dead bugs in our room, furniture scuffed, weird hole in ceiling where fire sprinkler looks like it was installed by a bear. And the breakfast buffet was pretty gross AND ran out of coffee. No coffee pots in the rooms?! Crazy. Food at bar was stellar though, as was front desk service. Lots of weird cobteasts there. Grounds were gorgeous.

My credit card was stolen by the hotel at check in. We stayed one night and were paid in full via Hotels.Com. But I was charged $250 the night when we checked in and another $240 the next day. We did not use any of the hotel service and stayed barely 12 hours at the hotel. The furnace in our room was extremely loud. It woke us up several times at night. And the sheets were dirty. I would highly recommend to avoid this hotel!

The AC in our room didn't cool properly and the room was so humid our paperbacks curled. The shower was constantly running so our bathroom was hot and steamy. The staff was made aware of this problem. It wasn't so bad we would ask for a different room but it was less than perfect. Otherwise it's a great place. The old charm is comfortable. We would return in a heartbeat.

I can’t wait to return! Loved the site, next to Buttermilk State Park. Calming scent of wood burning. Balcony where I could look out over grass and gazebos. Friendly staff.

Could be much better. Bistro closed on Sunday at 2pm, why? Rooms outdated, mattresses can be updated. No bar, if you want to get drink. Could add a simple gas fire pit outside for people to enjoy evenings. Breakfast is horrendous, laughable. Location is perfect. Will not stay here again. Hope the manager reads this review.

I love staying at La Tourelle. The last time we visited earlier this year the renovations were ongoing, this visit the renovations were complete and I have to say the improvements were needed. My very first visit last year you could hear everything now with the new doors and upgrades you can’t hear any neighboring rooms. The double beds are very comfortable along with the king beds. I often sleep better there than I do at home on my brand new mattress. The staff are always friendly and helpful not to mention welcoming to us which I find important in a hotel. The rooms are also affordable which makes a huge difference and is part of the reason I continue to book here, the quality is worth every penny! Overall 10/10 I will continue to stay at La Tourelle every time I am in Ithaca.

We had a room on the ground floor with a terrace that led out to the grounds which was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful staff. Bedding was comfortable. Only two complaints: water pressure less than ideal and the soundproofing was poor. Likely because it’s an old property but when other guests talk outside or close their doors in the morning it woke me up every time.

Pretty location, nice lobby and grounds, close to downtown and many sites. Coffee and cold water always available. The staff was very friendly however they did not monitor the coffee or water supply and often had to be asked to refill. The door to the bathroom didn't close. The AC was very loud and made a noise that sounded like a fog horn. The key cards had to be re-scanned several times a day. They charged $7 for a breakfast that they should have been embarrassed to offer for free. Extremely limited selection. It has a lot of potential but some things need work.

We stayed here recently for a 3 day trip, our first trip to Ithaca and Finger Lakes area to visit wineries and hike the waterfall and gorge hikes. This is close to many great hikes and vineyards and Cornell University and Ithaca College. The hotel is older but has been nicely updated. It is situated outside of town on a quiet, large property. Our room was comfortable and nicely appointed. In the summer they have live music on Tuesday and Thursday nights. They have a spa which we did not use.
We stayed here recently for a 3 day trip, our first trip to Ithaca and Finger Lakes area to visit wineries and hike the waterfall and gorge hikes. We unintentionally challenged the patience & hospitality of this amazing staff in a number of ways: from having to change our reservations twice on short notice, checking in at lam (!), extending our stay, bringing a service animal, and more,... we're not usually such a pain, but none of this was received with anything other than a smile and a genuine desire to help and accommodate. As a matter of fact, one of the owners actually helped us out with our bags. So it's clear that this culture of hospitality begins with leadership, and is shared by every member of the staff. We will definitely be back, and we're eager to check out the Firelight Camps, as well! Sidenote, the trail right off of the Firelight Camps (immediately behind the Inn) is a fantastic way to immediately access nature. 10/10!!!

The room was extremely loud, near an ice machine that sounded like an avalanche everyday at 6AM. Couldn't get much rest. Paper thin walls unfortunately. The "bistro" is closed, has been for a year, which I wish I knew prior to booking. There is just an onsite small bar with a limited menu of snack-like appetizers. The spa was impossible to reach, they finally got back to me after my trip was over and I was back home. There is no pool nor jacuzzi. The picture of people sitting around a pond in adarondak chairs on their website is very misleading, this was a murky pond overgrown with brush and no adaronacks. The campfires and smores are actually part of a nearby hotel, not La Tourelle, so when we went they had to decline us because they didn't have enough supplies to feed both us and their guests. The wifi is horrendous with no option to upgrade. The towel rack to hang your towels in my rooms was directly over the toilet, yuck. Lastly a pipe burst while we were there, closing the spa completely and filling the entire floor with the smell of feces. We eventually left a night early due to all of this discomfort and when doing so the manager was very defensive and not once expressed any empathy. The sign and all branding says, "Hotel - Bistro - Spa" which during my stay was true, lie, and then closed without communication or accomodation. She said it was my fault for not booking with the spa weeks prior to my vacation. I don't think that's acceptable.

Very friendly and helpful staff. I definitely felt that the guests' satisfaction and comfort is their top priority. The grounds are lovely and so was our spacious room. We had driven to the upper lot of Buttermilk Falls with the intent of hiking to the base of the falls and back, but after reaching the base, a member of our party didn't feel quite well and was unsure if they could hike back to our car. Even though we had checked out of the hotel earlier that day, we called the hotel and asked if someone could pick us up iwith the hotel shuttle van and drive us back to our car. Without hesitation we were told "yes" and our ride was there within a few minutes. The driver was courteous and friendly and saved our day!

I travel to Ithaca quite often. I have stayed in a wide variety of hotels there from historic inns to chains. I have never had a mystifying experience. First, the location for the hotel is beautiful. It must be stunning in the fall. Second, they just did a refresh and upgrade. The rooms are trendy and relaxing. The mattresses are amazing. The service, though, has some annoying glitches. A couple of days before I arrived, I started getting texts asking me to check in. I did so and they asked for a credit card and lots of other information including arrival time etc. I arrived for my stay and . . . had to do it all over again. They also texted me several times to tell me to enter through the spa. So I did and they told me I needed to go in through the front. They had just finished the renovations. Okay, I thought, their system is a little behind. When I told the front desk about the text, no response. And I continued to get weird texts including asking when I was checking out hours after I had checked out. I couldn't get the air conditioning to work and when I finally did, it took all night to get the room from 76 to 72. I mentioned it as I checked out. Again, no response. Not even a false, we will look into it. A shrug from the woman in reception. The new doors on the rooms are thin and I heard every coming and going from other guests. We were thinking of staying near Ithaca Commons but was glad we stayed at the La Tourelle. It was located in a convenient location. Less than 10 min from Ithaca shops, the Buttermilk Trail started less than 1 min from the hotel. Very happy with our stay.

This is a great place to stay in Ithaca. It’s about 10 minutes from the town center but it feels like you are in the country. Lots of open space, beautiful grounds, nice sunset views, and friendly staff make it a relaxing and enjoyable place to stay.

Cute hotel, loved the free “wine hour”! Location is quiet, not within walking distance of anything downtown, but since most of us are driving there- no worries at all. You can hike to the falls from there if you want to. A nice getaway about 15 min from the lake.

Property and rooms were great. Staff was not real friendly. Bistro restaurant closed most of the time and when open food was terrible. No breakfast on site and no other restaurants close by.

There are no dressers or bureaus for clothing. We stayed 3 days and the room was never cleaned. The "hot continental breakfast " had ice cold scambled eggs and cold bacon and cost $15. There was no microwave in the room. STAY AWAY!!! The cost for the room was ridiculous.

Very clean and quiet hotel. Rooms were very comfortable. My only negative was breakfast. Either offer a better buffet style or charge extra and make breakfast “free”. For an extra $14 on weekend for lack luster eggs and bacon, just didn’t hit the mark. Since there really isn’t anything close by to get a quick breakfast I feel that this could have made a huge difference. Other then that hotel was nice enough.

I was here to visit my daughter at Ithaca College. Overall the hotel was nice. I think it could use a little updating, but it was cozy and the room was spacious. My one disappointment was that because of my daughter's schedule, I knew I would be doing some meals alone. When I booked here, they had a full restaurant on site and a lounge with a bar menu. But when I was there, the restaurant was permanently closed and the lounge was not serving food. I was not made aware of this until I went down to grab dinner before my daughter's concert, so I had to scramble to find a quick meal somewhere else. I did enjoy a spa treatment there. The August Moon Spa was very nice and I recommend Garth as a masseuse. I also took a lovely hike by using a path at the back of the property that connects to the upper part of Buttermilk Falls. Overall, it is a lovely hotel that is more peaceful than the downtown hotels and close to Ithaca College.

The restaurant is only open on limited nights, and the restaurant is about 10 minutes drive from downtown. Also, breakfast availability on weekdays is quite meager. So, very comfortable and relaxing place to stay, but you might have to plan to go our for most or all of your meals.

The rooms were lovely. In addition to a well appointed bathroom, access to a comfortable robe, and luxurious bedding, the room had a settee and a wall of library books which was a lovely touch. The bar was great and had a nice selection. The communal space was welcoming and comfortable. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, bacon, breads and pastries, fruits and yogurt as well as locally brewed coffee. The grounds were lovely and you can walk to Buttermilk Falls State Park, but if you want to see the main waterfall (and potentially swim) it is about a 45 minute to a 1 hour walk each way, so something to keep in mind. We had a great time and would stay there again.

Our tub did not drain and we stood in inches of dirty water while we showered. We informed the staff and we were told that the maintenance person left for the day. Someone at the desk tried to fix it but it did nothing. Our king bed was broken and you rolled to the middle all night. We were refunded 30% but this is unacceptable for a hotel where you are spending this much money.
