Rosewood Hotel- Portland East

Solid place to stay overall for longer periods on the east side of town. Stayed five one nights in January. Negatives: The multiple rows of speed bumps at the gated parking area are pointlessly excessive. Just one row at the entry would be enough. In the room, at late afternoons of the first four nights there was cooked food smells coming out of the vent in the bathroom (presumably from units below). Positives: Upon check-in I asked for an upper stairs corner room, if available. Fortunately, one was available and I later discovered it was essentially the best room in the place. #333 South Eastern corner with views of Mt Hood (as it was sunny the whole time during this stay). Kitchen was greatly appreciated as I don't really eat fast food. Operable windows were nice. Wi-Fi worked good. Clean room, comfortable bed, hot water, heat worked good, & quiet (with a view). What more could one want. I needed to stay an additional night. This was accomplished effortlessly at the front desk at a slightly less rate as the previous five.

It was cheap. My room was clean. Staff was friendly. But the inconveniences outweighed all this. You can only enter from the lobby, which means you must drop your luggage off, and park halfway around the unit and return through the lobby. You see, there is nowhere to park temporarily in front of the lobby if you don't have a handicapped sticker. Total of six spaces in front and they are used by staff, or are otherwise always occupied. So you must either park in the middle of the driveway or walk your luggage in from the parking lot several hundred feet away. Now about the kitchen. It does have a stovetop, microwave and full size refrigerator. That's why I booked my room here. But it doesn't have dishes, bowls, glasses, (except in the bathroom) silverware or Kleenex. I had to go to the store to buy paper plates, glasses, and plastic forks, spoons, knives and Kleenex. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, not dangerous though. Homeless people in cars park on the road on the way in, usually families. Sad. That is probably why the other door are not assessable. A torn flyer says you risk a huge fine is you use the doors other than the lobby. There is a laundry but you need $6 worth of quarters for one wash and dry load. Oh, bring your own soap. The local laundromat cost $4 so I washed here. My daughter loaned me some soap. I thought about checking out a few times, but it wasn't worth the hassle. The rooms are clean it is much cheaper.

Hotel is in a safe location with parking. Description says the hotel offers complimentary breakfast but there isn't any. The hotel says they have stopped offering that recently.

The only drawback in this property is the gate entrance and only one main entrance in the front of the hotel. However it makes sense for security reasons.

No ice. Seriously? That's the only thing. Otherwise? Near perfect.

Staff was nice only thing I wasn't a fan of is you could only go out and in the front doors.

The property is not kept up. Dead plants at the entrance, the carpets in the hallway was filthy. I quickly found out that all the doors to make it convenient to get to your room were now only emergency exits. The parking area is gated only one gate is in use and you have to buzz to have them open it. I felt there was a lot of inconveniences. I can only guess that it’s to keep people safe. The walls are paper thin. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.

There was trash in the hallways. Food crumbs on the stairs. Kids running everywhere as parents, who obviously live there sat and visited. No exterior door except the main was in use. Elevator not working. Bed was somewhat comfortable and the room had potential, but hubby made the mistake of running a black light -yuk. Our room was right over the front walk and hubby could hear conversations starting at 4 am -so he didn’t get any sleep. Free -lukewarm coffee….

Shower was broken, so didn’t get to bathe. They told me they’d let me use the shower in another room rather than remunerate me. That’s cool, but I have a schedule to keep. The safety fence around the property to keep the transients out is a pain in the ass when you want to leave, all doors into the building were “fire doors” except the front door, making parking even more inconvenient. At least it was cheap.

Unfortunately the room was very dirty including bodily fluids in the bathroom and walls. There was significant trash and dust under the bed. The environment felt unsafe and seemed like there were homeless people staying there long term. The whole first floor smelled like cigarette smoke despite being nonsmoking. There was a dead rat outside the property! The parking lot felt unsafe. There was absolutely no breakfast offered despite the booking stated.

The room reeked of stale cigarette smoke, despite being marked as non-smoking. I reported it to the front desk & they said "oh really?". The entire hallway smelled the same and my room stunk so bad I had to sleep with my face covered. When we left, 6 people were smoking right at the front door. The bathroom was cramped, and the door handle injured my side trying to exit because the door swing almost touches the toilet and the handle isn't a knob it sticks out and really did a number on my side. There's no exhaust fan and my blanket had a cigarette burn hole in the center. Dust covered the entire ceiling hanging down, furniture had pieces hanging off and an outlet had exposed wires. The bed had no nearby outlets, no tissues were provided, and the tub drain stop was broken and had trash inside. The parking lot had excessively high and frequent speed bumps that literally stopped my car. Despite being advertised as having 24-hour front desk service, no one was present at check-in or when I later needed assistance. A random toilet was sitting on the sidewalk. The parking lot was filled with broken down vehicles. This was the most unpleasant hotel experience I've ever had. Everything inside is extremely old/outdated. Avoid this place unless you're a smoker or have no expectations at all of cleanliness or quality. If this place were free, I still wouldn't want to experience that again. Disgusting, disgusting, disgusting. Sleeping in my car would have been better than this.

I tried to open the dirty windows for some fresh air, but they’re latched. The furniture is beat up and broken. Even the Bible in the nightstand (with its sticky drawer) is damaged. The light bulbs are falling out of the lamps inside their stained lamp shades. The bathtub and shower enclosure are crumbling apart. The towel rack is falling off the wall. The toilet paper roll was empty and broken, so it was quite difficult to put the one spare roll of see-through paper on there. There are spit spots on the mirror. There was a hair tucked around the one clean washcloth provided. There are crumbs and gunk all around the burners on the stove. The microwave is even worse. There is crud along all of the counter ledges, and stains all over the bathroom counter and sink. The air conditioner spits dust when you turn it on. The mattress was lumpy as an egg crate, and the white sheets are stained orange. The smoke detector is detached from the ceiling and dead. When the refrigerator cycles on, it sounds like a snow blower. Along with the many other loud sounds at all hours because the walls are as thin as the toilet paper. This place is right by the freeway, which you can hear all night long. The staff is nice though.

Clean, quiet, comfortable room. Affordable price. Good, polite personal.

This place could use a better cleaning. My tub in both rooms that I had were dirty. I’m not usually picky but this has been the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever experienced.

Room was not clean. Found nail clippings in the kitchen sink and floor. Hole in my linens. Stain covers and bathroom floor mat. Found hair in both my shower towels. Unfriendly staff.

The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned. There were long black hair all over the tub and on wall. Found one crusty, poop stained washcloth hanging on shower curtain rod.

The room and property looked nothing like the photo. We walked in to the room and it stunk really bad. The dresser was obviously broken, the drawer was falling out. The office chair had lots of gross stains on it pushed up to a coffee table. The "queen" bed was the size of a double and it was placed on a box spring bigger than the mattress. The bathtub had chipping paint and had water damage to the wall. The ceiling had stains on it. The room felt dirty. We didn't feel comfortable staying. So we never even brought a bag into the room. We walked in, walked out & we turned in our keys & booked at a different hotel. The manager has since refused a refund of the nights we didn't stay. The positive was the front desk staff we encountered were very friendly.

Wonderful hotel, great staff very accommodating one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at thus far. I give it five stars full-size fridge very clean, quiet and private..

Room was old and out dated and in poor condition.

The way the rooms are set up I really like. The T V. could have been placed higher though.

Decent, basic place; nice to have a refrigerator. However, one of our bedframes was shockingly wobbly; every time I got on/off or even moved in bed, the entire bed shook. We questioned if it was going to collapse. The outlet behind my bed was crooked and nonfunctional. I was excited for the free morning coffee...until realizing it was cold and AWFUL. Not drinkable.

The moment we entered we were wondering why the hotel seemed different than what was pictured. We entered the room and noticed a dust cloud of smoke lingering where the light shined through the room. In the bathroom there wasn’t even a bar of soap to wash my hands. The sheets on the lumpy mattress were a yellow tint and there were cigarette burns on both the sheets and the curtains. The WiFi wasn’t working and when I asked up front for assistance the lady was confused and didn’t offer any real help. We came here with a one-month old so we were immediately appalled. Their was some sort of prostitution going on with the people coming in behind us. The receptionist we heard talking about how people were smoking which was setting off smoke alarms. Overall worst hotel I’ve ever walked into and for that reason we checked out an hour later after checking in. The pictures on this website appear edited and do not represent what you’ll be walking into.

Rooms don’t look anything like the pictures. You can tell they are trying to make improvements, but still needs some work. AC worked well, but was very loud. Would be nice to have more than just the main entrance.

The staff is the best! They make sure that you are taken care of.

The staff was very friendly

Staff member would not let me check in because I had a Service Animal. He broke several ADA laws during our interaction. Told my fiancé that her PTSD and Anxiety was not a valid diagnosis to need a service animal. Will be reporting. Don’t stay here.

Had to wait for front desk help on several occasions. I checked out a day early & was assured at the front desk this would be credited to my account only to be told later, they won’t. Had to wait at front desk to get help- short staffing. Property is dirty & inconvenient. Would not recommend this hotel.

The lady was no where to be found when i went to check in. By the time she returned to the desk there were 4 of us waiting to check in. She told us to park in the gated area, but did not disclose that the only way in and out of the building was threw the main entrance. I ended up walking all the way around the building and went inside and asked and she's lome, "oops, my bad..." clearly knew i was from out of state.

This hotel advised as "pet friendly". My husband, myself and my service animal tried to check in the day before Thanksgiving. Their employee asked for medical documentation regarding my service animal. This is against HIPPA. My husband gave their employee, "Tash", my dog's certification as a Service Animal. Tash took a photo of my dogs certification as a Service Animal and emailed it to his manager named Danny. Danny and Tash refused to accept my Service Dog. I showed Tash my scars from my heart surgery and my spinal surgery. I told him i need my Service Dog and i am being discriminated against due to my disability. I told Tash i wanted to speak to his manager but Tash said he could not give me his managers private number. I wanted to try to resolve this problem with their manager but was refused Dannys contact information. They listed as a pet friendly hotel. I even noted on my reservation that i have a "service animal a 10 pound chihuahua". We were refused to check in with our certified Service Animal the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We had to leave and search for another hotel. We had to pay extra for a last minute hotel stay for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Then they had the audacity to charge our credit card $67. We have been trying for 3 days to get a refund. Everytime we call to speak to the manager their employee Josh and Tamara tell us we need to talk to the manager Danny. We left several messages for Danny to call us and refund this $67 unauthorized charge.

Mirana the front desk woman is a saint she is wonderful in every way. Tends to everything before I need to ask. Her customer service is exquisite.

To check in with having a reservation it took about an hour because the lobby was full of about 25 rude patrons that were being helped first with no reservations! After being checked in I was given a dirty room and the bed was too small for the frame, so it was like a teeter totter and it couldn’t stay still once sat on. I was changed rooms after a night of sleeping in a chair to another room which the sink was broken in the kitchen, so what I poured down the drain went all over the floor and I had to clean it up! Not to mention the people next door screaming that they were going to stab one another and doing drugs all night! This went on for several nights and I finally said something to staff downstairs and nothing happened! All they said was oh tomorrow I can get them kicked out??? What about tonight?? . My whole stay was noisy,, dirty, unsafe and disrespectful! I should have been moved to another room or compensated for at least a night or two because I couldn’t even sleep In My bed the first night let alone no working sink In my second room and constant disruption! Let alone the constant arguing and yelling about stabbing and drugs. It was absolutely horrible! I would never recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Portland area, not to mention the freeway traffic! Run as fast as you can! Price may be tempting but there is a reason why!

Good hotel , clean and close to the airport

Chose to stay here as it was close to I 84 and just a 10 minute drive to Portland. Rates Were very competitive, room was clean. Staff was very helpful. Local neighborhoods were a little rough around the edges, but all in all a very good stay.

The hotel is in a run down area of Portland. Didn't feel safe even though our stay was fine. Hotel is run-down and beds are horrible. I kind of screwed up by trusting the pics online. Didn't have any issues with staff. Parking lot seems unsafe even though they have gates that they don't use.

Nice quiet hotel perfect location for exploring the scenic gouge. The rooms are nice with hardwood floors which i dont care for but are clean with kitchens. Hotel staff is very nice and brought me a iron and ironing board. The only thing is the parking lot which is fenced had a couple of weird vehicles that looked abandoned.

Sketchy area and clientele.

Some of the appliances need love, but for the price, I would come again. I had a room on the far side of the hotel from Hwy 84 so the noise didn’t bother me, but be aware that it is backed up to the freeway.

Easy on off I-84. Clean room and friendly staff. Kitchen and two queen beds were useful.

This hotel is in a terrible location. It is in an industrial park away from any good dining and stores. The elevator communication button was beeping the entire time I was there (3 days); this means the emergency button in the elevator isn't communicating to the monitoring company so if someone were to get trapped in the elevator, they wouldn't be able to notify anyone. My room was not very clean; I had long black hairs all over - and I am blonde so I know they weren't mine. The hotel only provided two sheets and one super thin 'blanket' and the bed didn't have a fitted sheet so it came undone at night. No hair dryer to use in the rooms and no housekeeping to freshen your room and provide more towels each day...I would not stay here again. It would be a good hotel for partiers.

The room was okay clean. But the breakfast was not what you’d expect. Pretty disappointed when the only reason I booked this place was for breakfast. All they had to offer was pop tarts and coffee. That’s it nothing else. Asked the employee and he stated that’s all it was. Please remove breakfast from your booking page it is false. A pop tart is not breakfast.

Coffee, "Grab and go" Breakfast empty or non-existant. Very little hot water for shower. Room keys barely worked. No in-room coffee service. Exit gate broken but no sign. Lives up to 2 star at best. The room was clean abd the heat worked. Bed was ok, a bit firm for my liking.

It was an amazing experience! The staff are friendly and helpful. There's free coffee but they do not provide service water to the guest so much better to bring your own. There's a convenient store nearby.

The smell of cigarette smoke is overwhelming and made my friend sick who has allergies. Even in our hotel room smelled of smoke. Also there was supposed to be a "grab and go" breakfast and there was none. Just a vending machine.

-The room was clean and served its purpose. -The hotel was not by Moda Center as it was advertised. It is actually east of the airport. But I should have looked up the address before I booked. -It said it would come with breakfast even on the reservation confirmation I received. But when I went down to get breakfast they said they didn't do breakfast anymore. I chose the place for the amenities it offers with the price range. -When I checked in the staff member said my room number out loud twice which made me feel uncomfortable as I was a solo female checking in to the room.

The hotel is fine it's just older. When I booked through Expedia it said there was a grab and go breakfast which they did not have. It previously was an extended stay and they did have that. The staff was excellent. Very accommodating.

Very quaint and easy to stay place. However they no longer offer free breakfast and should probably remove that from their add.

Very convenient for driving. Beddings need improvement. NO breakfast !! not as hotel page described, but overall great value.
