Nice variety at breakfast. Parking was easy and fee was reasonable. The bed and bedding was incredibly comfortable!! the temperature of the room was a bit hard to regulate, too cool for the first snow day of the season.

Beautiful historic room. Quiet room. Comfortable bed. Shower had good water. Located right across the street from Wayne State University. Coffee machine and water cooler in lobby. Very pleased with our stay. Very minor disappointment: no fridge in room or ice machine. Caution: if you cannot climb stairs and carry your own luggage, this is not the hotel for you.

I really enjoyed the cozy bed and the delicious breakfast provided, but the Ferry Inn is lacking in Americans with Disability (ADA) compliance. There's only one ADA room, there aren't any grab bars in the shower and the stairs, both outside and indoors, are intense.

Good location. Good staff. Lovely historic properties, most not accessible with stairs to get into the buildings and stairs inside. Mostly clean but not the extra step, e.g. as you get close to wall or behind bed. Some things need repair - first room they took me to had stains on the carpet - second room better but a lot of cold air pouring in around window air conditioner with opening stuffed by a bare board covered by a towel - had to increase temp in room - seems like it would be more cost effective to remove the window air conditioner and close the window for winter. Small thing but only instant decaf and no decaf in my building. Only text communication unless you call the main line (no house phones). Overall a charming place - with a little more care a great place.

The room clean and in great condition but to get there required that we haul our luggage up a narrow stairway to the 3rd floor. The staff was not welcoming and did not seem very interested in our welfare. The Ferry Inn was more like an AirBNB than an Inn.

The location is perfect for visiting area museums. I found parking on the street. Checking in and out was easy and efficient. Breakfast was abundant and good as was coffee throughout the stay. But the buildings are showing a some wear and could use a little love. There are many small paint chips, a shelf in the public bathroom hanging off the wall, a chair in the dining room without enough stuffing in the seat. The shower liner was too long so the edges hung in the water and had a little mold. Nothing is major to deter my staying here again but I hope these nitpicky things can be attended to in order to make the improve the experience.

It was a quiet are which was nice but our room had no air conditioning. We ask for a fan and the first one that was brought, someone took from outside our room. The next one left a a huge water spot on the carpet. We finally found a fan in the closet. The shower curtain had mold on it and there was no soap to wash your hands, only body wash. There’s no ice and no ramp or elevator to get into the building. It’s cute but doe not have any modern amenities. Would not stay again or recommend.

Service was very friendly but they no longer have the concierge van service to the nearby attractions. That's why we like to stay there. The rooms are quiet so that's a plus. I am allergic to lemongrass and that was the only scent they had for all the soap products. An unscented option would be great for special needs. The bathroom walls were filthy around the sink and there was no extra toilet paper. It was almoat gone when we arrived and the back up was in the closet out in the main room. Last thing i want to do is change toilet paper or not have any in the moment.

After being on the road and out and about all day, settling in to the comfortable, clean bed was needed. The property actually consists of 3 buildings so leave the luggage in the car until after checking in. There may have been notice but there's no elevator so keep that in mind with luggage too. Quaint property within walking distance from DIA, Charles Wright, and Science Ctr. Not too far from the Q line either, if you dont want to drive downtown.

We got an upgrade so I can’t complain too hard but the Carriage House needs some love in terms of maintenance and cleanliness. The carpet was stained, the bathroom floor was not clean, the sink was dripping, the frame of the bathroom window was broken and couldn’t be closed all the way, and we found a random lost sock under the bed.

We left food in the fridge to take back the next day and someone on staff are some. The note with the room number was still on the box. There was a dead smashed bug on the wall. There was a hair on a "clean" breakfast plate. The dust in the homes billowed in the sunlight. I'm sure the place is generally sanitized but it hasn't been properly clean in at least a decade.

Loved the houses and the period decor. The bathroom was very clean. But we thought the dining area could have been cleaner. We saw a lot of dust and the windows were very dirty. I understand it is in the middle of a busy city, but common areas should be clean. The food was also very bland and the same everyday. For the price we thought they could have done better.

We like this historic property a great deal. Beautiful rooms and furnishings. Exterior and window casings could use a little upkeep/ maintenance, but great stay, 1/2 block from the free Q-line to downtown and uptown. Loved our stay in the resurgent Detroit!

The Inn on Ferry Street was a convenient, historical place to stay. The breakfast every morning was great, with the staff being very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean, but the stains on the carpet floor and poor air conditioning on the top floor made it dissappointing. Loved the character of the historical buildings.

Needs a clean update, the carpet was so old & hadn’t been vacuumed as there was ash on carpet. The electrical outlets were so old they would hold our phone plugs.

Close to DIA and easy access to lots of local spots it is well situated off of a quiet street. My third floor room was spacious for my brief stay and the staff were very helpful, it was a step back in decoration and the common rooms and porches add to the effect.

So much character in this place. My bathroom was beautifully tiled and updated. Some things about the room were a little worn out (window paint and carpet), but the character and warmth of the space outweigh any of that. The bed was very comfortable. I found the whole experience restful. And the air conditioning worked really well for an old building. Staff was also warm and welcoming.

The Inn on Ferry was super-convenient to the Reuther Archives, and it seems like a lovely safe neighborhood. The hotel itself is charming--four old buildings repurposed as a hotel. The central building, 84 East Ferry, offers a healthy breakfast every morning. The internet worked well. The room itself was large and very comfortable. Very quiet. And the staff are splendid and helpful. THREE CHEERS for the Inn on ferry.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Inn! The setup is unusual - spread across four well renovated period homes on Ferry Street. Each home has a nicely decorated lounge area on the ground floor as well as rooms on the ground and upper floors. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was filling, and everything was clean and well-maintained. I happened to overhear the morning staff briefing, and was impressed by the professional positive manner of the staff and management. They even discussed their reviews! And the location is great, just a few minutes walk from the Detroit Institute of the Arts.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Inn! The setup is unusual - spread across four well renovated period homes on Ferry Street. Each home has a nicely decorated lounge area on the ground floor as well as rooms on the ground and upper floors. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was filling, and everything was clean and well-maintained. I happened to overhear the morning staff briefing, and was impressed by the professional positive manner of the staff and management. They even discussed their reviews! And the location is great, just a few minutes walk from the Detroit Institute of the Arts.

We asked for a room refresh. We put the tag out on the door. No one came by. I carried the trash down to the main house and got new trash bags. We also needed fresh towels and got bath mats instead and were told that’s all they had. It was a struggle just to get the trash picked up and fresh towels. The responses we received from staff was that they were short staffed.

All of the staff is the proper balance and kindness plus professionalism. I simply adored this place and the rapport I built with the staff was like we became new friends who welcome you back with the same good hospitality they treated you with the first time. When I saw the rating for the Inn on Expedia, it gave them a 9, for exquisite. I want to concur and maintain this level of satisfaction was exquisite. I plan on staying there on Spring Break in March since I am an academic/a professor at a university. Keep on doing great customer service, let that be your defining distinction and organizational culture core value! No matter what this messy world looks like give people moments of beauty and joy, and comfort, because it is one of the things that's most needed in this human journey.

If you are going to stay here I recommend booking directly with the inn so they have a chance to get it together. The social media coordinator was doing check ins, perhaps they were understaffed. Our experience was a nightmare. We arrived an hour after check in time to find the room I was reserved was “not ready” and had to wait 30 minutes for them to clean a comparable room. She also told us that check out was an hour earlier than what was shown on my reservation. Very unprofessional but the property was nice.

Love the area & love the building. It’s a cute place but has its issues- our room was so unbearably hot and thermostat did not work. The tv was nothing but static, small and old.The whole building needs renovation work. Don’t try to call to get help with anything as no one responds at front desk. Would not stay here again. There are similar places we have stayed like this that are 5 star. They have their own parking lot but you still have to pay for that on top of the high price to stay there

The staff were all very helpful. When we checked in she walked us to our room since the facility is unique and not a typical hotel layout. When I asked about mailing a letter the next morning another staff member walked outside to see if the mail carrier was still nearby and then gave me clear directions and alternatives.

Staff stole my food and lied about it. It was clean and neat, but the staff was rude and stole a food delivery and failed to admit about it. Would not stay again because of that reason. Also, we’re over, eager on trying to get tips, which makes me not want to tip!

Overall all a good experience: beautiful property in a centralized location. I dealt with a pushy, rude employee (I think she was a manager) who aggressively try to persuade me against booking on Hotels.com, even as Hotel.com quoted me a price that $50 a night lower. Otherwise, the staff I met at the property in-person were kind and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, but the carpet and some of the furniture seemed a little worn and perhaps should be replaced. Not a big deal.

Lovely historic homes. Beautiful neighborhood but also very convenient (one short block) to the Q line and access to lots of Detroit sights, dining and sports venues. The room was perfect, the staff warmly welcoming and the breakfast was delicious, fresh and gracious. Even my 11 year-old traveling companion said, “If we come back to Detroit, we HAVE to stay here again!” It wasn’t just a place to stay, The Inn was part of our Detroit experience.

The location is perfect for visiting area museums. I found parking on the street. Checking in and out was easy and efficient. Breakfast was abundant and good as was coffee throughout the stay. But the buildings are showing a some wear and could use a little love. There are many small paint chips, a shelf in the public bathroom hanging off the wall, a chair in the dining room without enough stuffing in the seat. The shower liner was too long so the edges hung in the water and had a little mold. Nothing is major to deter my staying here again but I hope these nitpicky things can be attended to in order to make the improve the experience.

I always stay at Inn on Ferry (or Inn at 97 Winder if I am going to a concert at Little Caesar's Arena) when I go to Detroit. Clean, green, good breakfast if you want that, easy parking, knowledgeable staff, amazing baths.

This was such a fun stay! The inn was so charming and unique from staying at a "regular" hotel. The area is pretty and the buildings/rooms were even cuter in person. We were at the very top and it was very quiet. The bed was comfortable. We were amazed by the breakfast spread. Everything was fresh and delicious. Joann was so sweet and did a great job. I would definitely stay again!

Loved the houses and the period decor. The bathroom was very clean. But we thought the dining area could have been cleaner. We saw a lot of dust and the windows were very dirty. I understand it is in the middle of a busy city, but common areas should be clean. The food was also very bland and the same everyday. For the price we thought they could have done better.

This was a cute place to stay. A little run down due to the age of the place but we had a very comfortable bed, the record player made for such a nostalgic and fun night, and we felt safe walking around the area late at night. There's no fridge so nowhere for a leftover slice or bottle water. I wouldn't rely on breakfast... mostly just a bunch of bread, instant oatmeal, or cold cereal. We couldn't even get an ice water in the morning. Overall, still liked staying there.

We really loved the Inn. The staff was so friendly and kind. Our room was extremely charming. The bed was a little softer than our preference but still a wonderful room. The breakfast was very good. Lots of great, fresh fruit and the coffee was so good. Much better than typical hotel coffee. We will definitely be back.

We have stayed here off and on for years. I did request early check in and my request was taken care of. However, we were given a third floor room. I did say that was ok but wish I had requested otherwise. It was a long way up. The bed was very comfortable but the room was very plain and disappointing for the price we paid. Normally the rooms are out of this world. The bed had wood blocks holding it up and the entertainment center had the doors removed and the shelf holding the tv was bowing. Very cheap looking. Their was a stain in the middle of the floor. I chose this location because they always had an amazing breakfast before and a shuttle van. This was not mentioned as no longer available on Hotels.com. Also, it was not mentioned that the facility is undergoing renovations. I could have stayed closer to downtown for half the price and had breakfast included.
