Hotel Lincoln continues to pare down its offering and is all the worse for it. Barely there, and barely civil front desk staff, no amenities within the room (water bottles would be nice), and no clear information around when upstairs bar/restaurant is open. It was closed half the time I was there! No decent breakfast offerings or alternatives. Very disappointing

The property is in a very good location with Lincoln park and the zoo being directly across. Parking is not available on the property and valet is expensive but we booked an offsite parking spot about 10 minutes away. Even though the property is renovated our suite room had plaster that was peeling and cracks on the ceiling. Over all price was a bit higher because of the 4th of July weekend and being a boutique hotel but we liked the property.

The rooftop bar is incredible looking, but it was closed for a private event both nights we were there so we couldn’t enjoy it. The building seems like a dirty, old hotel that Hyatt did the bare minimum to make “cool.” Our hotel room carpet was soaking wet from the AC unit. The hotel was out of bottle water. There were no sheets for the sofa bed and it took hours to get a set (needed to put our kid bed). The one treadmill in the tiny fitness room was out of service ( so was an elevator). I can’t believe this is a Hyatt property.

First off, parking is not free here. You either find a place on the street which is difficult and confusing or you park at a public lot which you pay per hour OR you pay for valet. When we were booking the hotel we saw, parking available and thought that meant free parking. That’s not the case. That being said the location was really nice. We brought our dog so having a convenient place to walk him frequently was very important. This hotel was right across from a big park so that was great. The room we got was one that was recently redone and it was clean. Very minimal which isn’t a bad thing. The shower doesn’t have a place to put anything so that was annoying. They need to add a shelf or caddy or something. The shower itself was nice though. Rain shower head and handheld hose which came in handy when our dogs paws got muddy on a rainy day. Overall, I would stay again if we are willing to spend the money. The area was really nice but it was expensive.

Minus: The overhead shower head did not work and could not be fixed during our stay. The phone to call the front desk did not work, our tv channels 1-11 did not work per front desk and remote needed new batteries which were fixed the next day. Old hotel. Maybe after the renovation of old rooms is complete, the hotel will improve. Staff was very nice. They tried to help but they had limited resources. Water pressure and no hot water in shower couldnt be fixed, old room was just icky. Maintenance tried to fix hot water issue but couldnt, so we were moved to room recently renovated. No mirror, no coffee maker, no cups and tiny bathroom. Water pressure still bad. New shower handheld attachment sprayed out the handle. Lightning in bathroom was bad. Location was great. Area was very nice and close to many nice shops, restaurants, and not far from downtown.

Great location, safe neighborhood. Parking is expensive, $75 per day for valet, $39 per day in lot across the street. Clean, beds and pillows comfortable. Toilet didn’t flush properly and 2 burnt out lights in bathroom but both issues fixed promptly. Water never got hot so we got used to lukewarm showers. Rooftop bar is very nice.

I arrived early (11:30a) to drop off luggage before check in (3:00p), which was handled well. I was asked for my phone number and told I'd be placed in a queue and texted when a room was available. The text never came. I returned to check in at 5pm, which went well. I was given an accessible room which was in poor condition and quite run down. The caulk joint between the shower and the floor was about 3-4" wide, smeared on and messy as if done by a small child. The hallways felt damp and had an order to them. I needed to print 1 page in the business center but the printer displayed "right cover open" and would not print. Front desk said they'd call an engineer (early afternoon), and call me when it was fixed. That call never came and the printer was still not working the following morning. I had to go to a store to print. The rooftop bar/restaurant has a wonderful view but is also run down and a bit dirty. This is one of the most affordable stays in Chicago and the location is not bad. If you're stay is brief, you want something cheap and utilitarian, this is a fine option. If you want to feel pampered, this isn't the right choice. I'd stay again for a 1-night visit, but not longer.

The property touts a roof top dining and bar. When we checked in on Friday we were told the roof top was closed for a private event. AND...again on Saturday, the roof top was closed. If you advertise hotel dining available...why would it be closed the entire weekend we are there!

My son dropped something underneath the bed and it was so dusty, and his allergies were bothering him all night. The TV did not work upon us, turning it on, and when we looked behind the TV, it was covered in dust as well. I'm a DePaul parent and would never stay here again.

Wifi in the room did not work. Two of three staff made no effort to try and correct the situation. Staff never answered front desk phone after trying ten times. Tv in room didn't work. Hair in "clean" washcloths. Very noisy, run down room. Upgraded room did not have cups for coffee.

Where to start? How about mold in the bathroom. Or maybe the window units that made horrific sounds all night. Or the beds that look and feel like cardboard. We tried two different rooms, ya know due to the mold. Every room has its own problems. The rooftop bar is beautiful. The lavender vanilla latte, amazing.

This property is old and hasn’t been kept up. There was a hole in the bathroom tile, the phone didn’t work when we wanted to call for more tiles, the light fixture in the bathroom was tarnished, there was water damage on the bathroom ceiling, there was no bathroom counter or place to put your toiletries, the beds were tiny and uncomfortable and the pillows smelled bad. Literally the only thing that the Hotel Lincoln has going for it is the location.

This hotel needs a lot work on updating the rooms and common areas. My room was a mix of 80s and 90s mix. Yes, the bed was updated but everything was dated. Plaster work in the bathroom was poorly done. The trim around the bathroom door was bowing out. There were foot prints in the bathroom tub when I arrived. Was it cleaned was my question.

I was so looking forward to staying here for the first time. But I couldn’t stay after checking in, it was so dirty, tired, smelly of wet dog, and felt unsafe. I ended up leaving before even sleeping there. I wish I could say better but it was not a nice hotel. The hallways had lint all over the floors, the doors were sweating so not fitting the jams, the elevator door had brown water stains.

Hotel room clean, but in need of a bit of a facelift/remodel, especially door frames. Bathroom & room a bit small for two people. Linens and beds were great. Unfortunately with two people there also wasn’t enough space to store luggage.
Hotel room clean, but in need of a bit of a facelift/remodel, especially door frames. Bathroom & room a bit small for two people. Linens and beds were great. Unfortunately with two people there also wasn’t enough space to store luggage.

The hotel needs serious upgrade, you don’t want to step on those carpets without shoes. The door frames are all dented, doors are bad too, the tub in the shower is so slippery and outdated, the bathroom door it was “upgraded” to a barn door that warps when you close it, window curtains are dusty and old, ah and the water when you shower won’t drain, and let’s not talk about the mattresses, they feel and look 20 years old. One will think it was bad luck with the room but no, we had 3 rooms for the family and all the same. But the location is great ! So for the price I would look somewhere else.

Gorgeous area! The hotel itself could use some updates. The elevator is a bit scary! The bathrooms are very tiny. And the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept on.

Great location. But old property. Remodeled shower had only hand held shower nozzle and had no soap dish. Also any water that hit the shower door ran out onto the bathroom and room floor, which was a lot. Also, condensation from one of the window A/C units ran onto the room floor so much that it could not be used.

Fantastic location by the park, great neighborhood, convenient to buses and downtown. Disappointed by our booking experience - we were not given the room we booked (and paid more for, and called ahead to make sure it was showing up properly in Hyatt's system), and no one mentioned the downgrade until we looked at the room and then inquired, as though they hoped we wouldn't notice. That left more of a bad feeling for me than the downgrade, to be honest. Clearly overbooking is a problem at this property (per other reviews). Other than that uncomfortable encounter, staff was very nice. Our room was very clean but felt a little underfurnished. Hotel restaurant was pleasant, in-house cafe had great pastries and good coffee but not much else, cool rooftop bar area seems to be run more like a club, with bumping music and a disaffected door guard -- did not feel very welcome up there. Lots of potential for this property to be a great place if a few things were done a little differently?

Great location. Terrible customer service. Will never stay again. Too pricey to get such bad service. Room wasn't ready at check in. There were 4 of us and they offered a room with ONE bed as an option. Took an hour and a half for our room to be ready. No apology from Carlos who checked us in. Just we're really busy and some people that prepaid didn't even get rooms. Also fire alarm went off at 1:30 am and it took them a half an hour to shut off. Not at all worth the high price tag

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lincoln. It is across the street from Lincoln Park and lots of restaurants, bars and shopping in Old Town within walking distance. It is in a quiet neighborhood too! We plan on returning there next year!

The staff was wonderful but when we arrived there was no reservation. The staff was able to say Orbitz made the reservation through Expedia and the hotel was already oversold. Only though kindness and quick work by the Hotel Lincoln were we able to get a room. This was AFTER our VRBO reservation which was also suggested by Orbitz was cancelled at the last minute and we were left with no room and no refund. Do better, Orbitz.

They did not have a room ready upon arrival. Check-in was set for 3pm and we arrived around 5, to no room available. Given that we had time-sensitive plans, I opted to downgrade our room and check in after about a 25 minute wait. Carlos was helpful in this matter, but had been flat and insincere prior. The room was small and pictured is the wonderful house centipede that was present when we returned later that night. The water machine on our floor was empty our first night, and the ice machines on the floors below and above us were out of service as well. Overall, an unpleasant stay.

I made a single confirmed reservation for two rooms on hotels.com, but the hotel received a reservation for only one room. It looks like Expedia changed the reservation that it received from hotels.com before sending it to the hotel. The hotel manager spent about half an hour fighting the hotel reservation system, first trying to untangle the discrepancy, then trying to find a second room on the same floor as the first, then trying to give us a second room (on a different floor) at the rate that hotels.com promised. Rather than keep us waiting longer, the manager very generously gave us the second room for free. The hotel staff was extremely friendly, professional, and apologetic—even though the confusion was not their fault, and they lost money on their second room. I won't be using hotels.com again.

I got an email 2 days before my stay that due to an unforeseen circumstance my reservation had to be cancelled and move to another property a mile away. The email header looked like a scam email; so I contacted the hotel immediately (the morning before my stay). They assured me nothing was wrong and my reservation at the Hotel Lincoln was still active. When I got to the hotel they told me my reservation was cancelled. Horrible communication and the front desk manager was very unhelpful and didn’t seem to care at all that this happened. I’ve stayed here several times but never again and will be sure to tell this story to anyone else. Beware and double and triple check if you ever decide to make a reservation here! You may not have a place to stay when you arrive there!!!!!!!!

I was promised 2x by Hyatt rep & a Lincoln hotel associate on 2 separate occasions that I would not have to check out and back in (even though I had 2 separate reservations) for my stay, this was also not communicated to me upon check in on the 1st day. I had a wedding that I was MOH for, which meant I was in charge of a lot of things and did not have time on the day of the wedding to get to the lobby to deal with this. Apparently, it is their policy that 2 separate reservations means you have to check out and back in, provide ID and credit card again, and get new key cards. All of that is fine, HOWEVER it should have been communicated with me at the time of the 1st check in (I did mention the 2 reservations) and then I would have taken care of that before we had hair and makeup come at 8. During original check in, we requested housekeeping come at 3pm to take care of the room, reception said that would be taken care of. We specifically asked for fresh towels, sheets, and garbage. The morning of, we called down to verify that this would take place and we were assured that everything was set. When we arrived back at the hotel after the reception around 10, housekeeping had not come to take care of our requests. We had to call down a 3rd time to get it done. The outlet next to the bed was also not working. Service at J Parker was nonexistent. A LOT of inconveniences. Very disappointed in the customer service received & the lack of communication on the hotels part.

I had booked a queen bed (no doubles available for dates we were there) , but found a full size bed instead. They quickly upgraded us to a roomier jr suite room with a queen bed. My adult son and I were very comfortable. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff very friendly. My daughter had recently moved to Chicago in the Lincoln Park area, and this hotel was perfect to be able to walk to meet up with her. I plan on returning to Chicago many times, and Hotel Lincoln will be my choice. I had read the reviews prior to arriving, and I definitely only experienced a pleasant stay. Thank you Hotel Lincoln

Hotel Lincoln is a good hotel to stay in and near many tourist areas. Room was clean but a little tiny. Overall, it was a good experience. The biggest exception was availability if parking nearby was 200 yards away. Close to many towing areas so be cautious!

Beautiful and historic area of Chicago. Loved the location to Lincoln Park and then close proximity to Lake (walked 15 minutes and on beach). On Saturday morning there was a farmer's market right across the street. Great area for joggers/walkers. The staff were very friendly and nice and accomodating. No fridges in our rooms (we had five rooms) that weren't suites. Beds were full size, but lovely views of lake and park from windows. we'll stay again!

This is a mid range hotel but the location is phenomenal. Right across from Lincoln Park, the view from the rooftop is beautiful. You don't stay here for luxury but it's a nice hotel that is dog friendly and close to the park and lakefront.

I chose this venue because of its proximity to our agenda. The room was very spartan and overpriced. One evening , we needed late night dinner. With limited options, because of the late time, your staff gave inaccurate information regarding food service at your rooftop bar/restaurant. I waited in line at the bar for at least 30 minutes, only to be told the kitchen, “The kitchen is closed.” This is unacceptable.

Every person at the hotel was courteous and helpful. Everyone. Certain hotel policies are off-putting. The $15 "Guest Amenity Charge" is justified by "unique amenities" of which there are none. (List provided includes WiFi, a fitness room, seasonal bike rentals, and waived pet fee, none unique.) The J Parker Rooftop Bar advertises 11am-11pm hours, but no food was available at 9:30 pm. I needed a hotel near my house while repairs were being done. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Great location, pleasant views and funky-artsy vibe. There are some updated rooms, but I did not have one of those. Very small, basic room and bath. The only chair was a desk chair. The queen bed took up most of the room. Bath could use more counter soace and grab bars in the tub area for safety. It’s ok if you won’t be in the room much and plan to be out enjoying the major city park across the street, the Old Town neighborhood, Lincoln Park Zoo and access to Mag Mile. The top floor bar has a spectacular view with interesting decor, but consistently bad food. In general, food choices in the hotel are limited, but there are lots of good restaurants nearby. Don’t expect the amenities of a major hotel. Stay here for the friendly atmosphere, views of Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan as well as walkability to city attractions.

No food options for breakfast. The coffee shop had no food options and the on site restaurant does not open till 4pm. Rooftop bar cosed for private events and otherwise opens at 4pm as well. If you stay here you will need to leave premisses for anything other than dinner.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lincoln. Everyone was helpful, polite, respectful, and positive. The room was clean and comfortable (although a bit outdated). The hotel was close to all sorts of activities and food businesses. We ate at the Americano Restaurant and it was good, very convenient.

Great location. Cool interior lobby. Excellent rooftop bar. Rooms are fine…. Just old, and very small dated bathroom.

Check-in with Daniel was excellent. Having access to roof top bar is aggravating. No priority for hotel guests. Also, tried booking party of 16 for dinner. Received quick email confirmation of availability which was great. But, never received confirmation, contract or further communication for two weeks. Because follow up by reservation service was slow and poor, we were worried of not having a venue for our dinner/party and we booked party elsewhere. We decided to stay at Hotel Lincoln anyway but other guests in our party found other hotel arrangements. Cool hotel and great rooftop but disappointing experience.

Lacking some amenities that other hotels offer, no fridge in the room, shared microwave on one floor rather than one in the room. Get a coupon daily for a free drink from either the bar or the coffee shop, but it's not really free because you pay a $15 amenity fee nightly, and that free drink is included in the amenities per the welcome letter. Stay was very pleasant regardless of these odd things.

Any issues we had were dealt with professionally. My credit card was accidentally left near a register and led to two days of angst trying to find it. Even though the error was an oversight by a staff member all the staff that I asked for help did. They were terrific....and they found it. The hotel is billed as a boutique hotel which assumes good fit and finish. That is not the case. There was a lot of scuffed floorboards, an air conditioner that appeared to be put in its place by eighth graders. The elevator had some paint or other stuff on its walls continuing with the fit and finish issue. The room was cleaned every day with no one suggesting the environmental advantages of not cleaning it...;). We also left our room late usually and the hotel still cleaned the room, made the beds etc. Well done! The room was very small but it did have a spectacular view of Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan. We lived out of our suitcases given the lack of space. There was no room to put down a yoga mat....and barely enough room at the "health club" for the yoga mat as wall. However, almost no one was in the gym during our stay so for two people it was fine. The price was about $100 per day more than usual which made our expectations higher. However, at its traditional price (based on Hotel.com pricing) the hotel was fine.

The room I stayed in was disappointing. The wallpaper was peeling by the bed, the curtain stained, the bathroom frame popping off & the sliding bathroom door besides being filthy has a big gap so it doesn’t feel private in this little room. In the morning one of the other rooms was open for cleaning and compared to our room it was like day and night. I’m not sure why my reservation warranted such a subpar room but I would be careful what room they give you. Besides that, everything was nice.
