Overall, this hotel is very nice and a good value. The restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday. The breakfast (not included) was good and also a good value, although we were surprised by the meager patronage. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We've stayed here several times, and will undoubtedly be back. Also worth noting are the location (close to downtown and just off I-235) and the plentiful free parking. If you get a room on the South side, it's a great view of the city. If you get a room on the North side, it's less of a view but quieter (no highway noise).

The hotel is outdated, dark, and needs a remodel or be torn down. It is located by a hospital and was noisy from frequent ambulance and helicopter traffic. Staff did not acknowledge or welcome new guests. Busy on the work phone or on personal phone- watching videos with loud volume. Breakfast buffet is not fresh food and not included in lodging expense. Pool area does not have a hot tub, is an added on building, very loud acoustics, and not relaxing.

I like the location. However, I couldn't park my car at the hotel parking lot due to construction, which created the inconvenience for guests parked their car across the street, with invisible signs that I couldn't see. I drove around in circles for couple time before I could park my car. I wish the the hotel should warn the guest on their website about the parking lot under the construction.

The air conditioner wasn’t working well so we asked for another room. It was better but not the best. Carpet needed stretched . Nice size room. Parking lot was closed. Had to walk across the lot to an additional parking lot. There was Only room enough to unload and no drive up area to unload at the door. Bar is closed on weekends and monday as well as the restaurant.

Quick overnight stay. Lobby and room were clean. We didn’t visit the pool as it was packed and loud with other guests. Our room was right next to the elevator so the noise in the hallway was loud at times from many sports teams staying there. Also, if you’re a light sleeper it is right on the Highway and the road noise was pretty loud on floor 3. Great view of the city. Be aware that the parking lot directly in front of the hotel is closed but the one across the street isn’t too much of a walk. They’re still using just the small toiletries so take extra if you’ll be staying longer.

The person that checked us in didn’t explain anything. Didn't tell us where the pool was, didn’t tell us about breakfast, didn’t tell me there was $50 charged to my card. We couldn’t even park in the parking lot. We had to park in a different lot and walk to our hotel. Room smelt like mold and air conditioning wouldn’t cool our room any lower than 70 degrees. Very disappointed…

Had to park offsite due to structural issues with garage. Room door hard time closing. Room key stopped working multiple times. Smoke alarm going off while taking a shower. Outside window had a hard time closing. A/c couldn’t keep up consistently running trying to cool from 70s- 68. Shower was extra slippery almost fell twice. Room was very small and crammed.

The windows were poor quality and we could feel the freezing air in the room, and the AC didn’t help. In the morning we had ice on the inner side of the windows. The hotel is old and needs a thorough renovation. It has to be updated.

It was okay. Overpriced for what the room was. Very crowded, and not updated at all. Bed creaked every time we sat down. Little holes and Knicks in the ceiling. Window wouldn’t close all the way and was very loud with traffic. Glad it was just a one night stay

When we arrived to check in the parking lot by the hotel was blocked off and had a small sectioned area for handicapped cars. Cars that were checking in were facing the incoming guest coming off 6th st. I turned into the sectioned off area as it was confusing 2 other cars did the same. I was blocked in. I needed to turn around to exit out to one way 6Th st. We moved cone to turn around and security person came out and started screaming at us. He wouldn’t tell us where to park or how to check in. Had to call front desk to get directions where to go. Security person continued to be rude when we entered hotel to check in. Signs and courteous help would have been appreciated. We stay at Holiday Inn’s frequently I have never experienced this type of treatment. Sincere apology for moving the cone. At one point security person asked us who we thought we were.. I told him a paying guest.

Our clerk on Saturday was amazing booked us in early was friendly. Sunday the front desk clerk was rude, our keys didn’t work each time we came back to our room. The tv didn’t work. We were told move to a different room we have no maintenance here today.

Check in was easy. Also there was free parking. My room is very noisy due to the sound of the freeway coming in the window. No option for late check out, which is a real bummer since I am in town for the Drake road races and was really hoping to be able to shower afterwards.

First time staying here. Convenient location for driving to other locations, not so much for walking. Road noise is very loud for rooms facing expressway, even up on the 6th floor. Service was good.

The parking lot was closed, inconvenient as heck. Only a handful of handicapped spots. So, I had to walk nearly a 1/2 block. As room was next to freeway it was loud, noisy all night…semi-trucks, fire trucks, and as it’s next to a hospital…ambulances with lights and sirens. It was a convenient location for our State fair trip. But, I wouldn’t stay there again.

Affordable and convenient for attending a concert at the Casey's center. There is also a free shuttle that ran anywhere withing a 3-mile radius. Would stay here again.

Hotel sits over the interstate and it was noisy all night. Homeless in the area, but property had armed security guard in the lobby. Can't walk to restaurants in downtown Des Moines.

The hotel's parking lot is still closed. Management really needs to put out better signage to direct guests to the two nearby lots where guests can park. It was unpleasant to arrive late at night and try to figure it out. On the positive side, the room was very clean and quiet. The breakfast buffet was excellent.

The hotel was very clean. Staff working the front desk were friendly, prompt. The restaurant had horrible service, my daughter’s food was burnt and by the time we were able to get our server’s attention, it was too late to order something else because we had somewhere to be. The server never asked if we wanted another drink. We would definitely stay at the hotel again but wouldn’t eat at Cityscapes.

Where do I start. Let’s start with parking. There was no onsite parking during a huge wrestling tournament and with that amount of people at the hotel there was maybe 40 spots and once you left it was a gamble getting back in. After that it’s just little things like being there for 3 nights and never seeing housekeeping. I had to go to the front desk for plastic cups, fresh towels and more toilet paper. Also had to take out my own trash twice. Rooms were very warm as the a/c wasn’t running and the window opens about a inch so the room was just stale air. Surprisingly quiet even with a ton of families there so that was a positive. Another thing that was just more of a disappointment was the hours of the onsite restaurant for dinner, 3 hours is a very short window to offer dinner. The biggest thing was the breakfast buffet. Yougurts were just sitting on hotel pans with no ice, bottles of water and milk in hotel pans with no ice. The hotel pans of eggs, meats and potatoes were just loosely covered with foil. It was just un professional looking.

Overall, this hotel is very nice and a good value. The restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday. The breakfast (not included) was good and also a good value, although we were surprised by the meager patronage. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We've stayed here several times, and will undoubtedly be back. Also worth noting are the location (close to downtown and just off I-235) and the plentiful free parking. If you get a room on the South side, it's a great view of the city. If you get a room on the North side, it's less of a view but quieter (no highway noise).

For as much as they charge you for the room it shouldnt be old, outdated and have a smell to the room. And you should not be charged for the breakfast, this is the first time I ever came across that. I will never stay there again a waste of money.

The air conditioner wasn’t working well so we asked for another room. It was better but not the best. Carpet needed stretched . Nice size room. Parking lot was closed. Had to walk across the lot to an additional parking lot. There was Only room enough to unload and no drive up area to unload at the door. Bar is closed on weekends and monday as well as the restaurant.

The lady that checked us in was very nice and helpful. I would give my interaction with her an A+! What I am not happy with is an issue we did not notice until the morning getting ready to leave. There was a plastic bag covering our smoke detector with a large band wrapped around it to hold it in place. I can only guess whom ever stayed in that room previously was smoking of some sort. When I took the bag off and brought it down to inform the morning gentleman about it he seemed uninterested. Said he wouldn't hold me accountable to it. That's it. He had no interest in what our safety would have looked like if there was a fire. Have your house keeping look deeper into the room when preparing it for the next guest. I wasn't happy about it and he didn't care

The staff was really helpful and friendly. That was a positive for the stay. The hotel overall was nice but the parking lot was completely closed and blocked off so you have to park across the street, which made carrying luggage in a challenge. The AC in the room was not working well so it never got cool enough in the room. They did offer to switch us rooms but we were in town for an event and got back too late to mess with switching rooms. They offer breakfast but it is not free. It is $10 per person plus tip, even though it is just a buffet style continental breakfast. I did still enjoy it, and the staff was lovely. The hotel is also built alongside a large highway, so it was pretty loud in the night with highway noise. That is not something the hotel can control, but it did still affect our stay. I was happy they had a fitness center with all the basics. Overall, for the price point of the hotel, I did expect more.

It was set at 50 degrees but wouldn’t go less than 72 degrees. After a shower there was a lot of steam. We set off the fire alarm in our room if the bathroom door was left open during or after a shower. On the last days, unfortunately, we saw a black substance next to the air vent. Which we assume was mold.
