Super 8 by Wyndham Cedar Rapids

Front desk clerk was rude and hung up on someone in front of me and had an attitude. Hotel was getting some remodeling done so only 3rd floor available

Greeter at counter very very poor english. Could not get extra towels & wash cloth. Dirty. Our was serviced last day of stay. Ran out of toilet paper. Garbage was emptied by us. Laundry services did not work & was scolded for trying to use in evening.

Very clean and good value. Lobby under renovation so checkin was slow, but good hotel

From when you first entered the lot, it was bad. The parking lot is horrible. The entrance was was dirty and smelled of cleaner. The walk to the room was dirty. The walls seemed to have grime on them. The carpet was stained and very gross! Our room door did not lock unless it was pushed very hard. The toilet seat was broken and had to be pushed back to sit and use the restroom. The shower surround was crack and the water pressure was no where to be found. I would never stay in this hotel

The washer and dryer was out the whole time I was there and was told to go somewhere else. No transportation I had to Uber every time and was told by previous people the washer and dryer been like that for some months now

Barely any continental breakfast service at the location. The exterior could use a little bit of an upgrade.

Unkept grounds

The room itself was clean and remodeled. However they’re using something on the floor that makes the flooring feel oily or greasy to your feet. They are in the midst of renovating many of the rooms so a lot of them are out of service. It was okay for a night but hopefully they’ll get more of the rooms and hallways renovated so it doesn’t feel so chaotic.

I lost 2.45 in the vending machine and the worker did nothing to help.

The room definitely needs some upgrades. The mattress pad was stained and I didn't feel comfortable walking in the room without shoes. The steps and hallway had extremely dirty carpet. There is no elevator either so be prepared to walk up steps to your room. It was a last minute decision to stay overnight and it was a home Iowa game so rooms were scarce. Next time, I'll take my chances sleeping in my car.

The place was really dirty and there was a heavy smell like urinal cake but way way more potent. I'm not sensitive to smells like my my wife, and it was burning my nose. We walked into the room and immediately had to kill a live cockroach. We did not stay here, but were billed anyway. We were there less than 15 minutes. When I was trying to discuss the issue with the front desk he immediately became really rude and was blaming Wyndam for the smell. This is the worst experience at a hotel that I have ever had by a longshot.

Hallway carpets dirty,the hallway itself smelled like dirty feet and rotten onions. Staff at front desk had an attitude. And the place reminded me of a frat house with people just sitting in the stairwells. The only good is the room was clean,even the burn hole in the comforter. Won’t ever stay there again.

This entire hotel needs to be remodeled. The walls had yellow stains on them, tub looked dirty (I couldn't even bring myself to shower there), and the rooms smelt horrible. Windows could open, but ours had no screen in them. Will never stay there again and am going to try to get my money back...

Sheets and comforter were dirty with what looked like blood and other stains. Staff did give us new sheets so we could change linens ourselves. Carpet had black stains all over it. Bathroom tile was very dirty, as was the shower and sink area.

It was not very clean at all. The smell was horrible and all of the walls and hard surfaces were sticky.

Pretty gross place. Mold all over shower curtain. Bathroom door didn’t shut. Back of door was kicked in.

Best thing was the bathroom was faily new, and clean. Carpet throughout the hotel was HORRIBLY filthy, which presented bad odors everywhere. Staff was helpful. Outside was not very appealing, and felt unsafe in the back where we had to park.

The floor was sticky to walk on in the room, no chair in the room, no lamps. I went outside in the morning to see what the wheather was like. I seen at least 10 rats outback and on the west side of the hotel. I have always thought of Super 8 as a good hotel not anymore. This property needs a serious remodel,very outdated. Very Disappointed.

The stain on the carpet was fine, but the lack of a smoke detector the whole time was nerve-wracking. And the consistent sound of small children or an animal above us drove me insane. Also, the paint peeling and chipping in the bathroom should be taken care of.

It was alright the bed was broken.

No exhaust fans in the rooms. There was only a hallway light, none in the actual room area. The desk chair was cheap. The TV was small. I tried to check in but had to come back and hour later because no one would answer the phone. The juice machine was broken. Breakfast was ok otherwise and it was quiet. AC worked. No screen on the window so when you open it to air it out, bugs can come in.

It was really quiet and we were not disturbed. A/C worked great. Bed was comfortable.

Bed was comfortable. One lamp in room, no phone, container covering window. Toilet innards broken, no plumber available. Horrible, rubber tread floor.

Just a room. No USB ports. Couldn't charge phone. Ask front desk. Shrugged shoulders

we were there very briefly so didn't use any of the amenities but the room was updated and clean and the hotel was very quiet.

Very nice and friendly staff

The house keeper went though my personal and took my items. And the front desk did nothing but say they would talk to house keeping about it. They didn’t try to compensate me at all.

Our experience was pretty so-so. No real major problems, but a handful of disappointments. 1. Check in - room we were assigned still had person on it. Took about 20 minutes of waiting while person on duty found us another room. 2. Had two pillows and ask for a 3rd, but none available. One of our pillows had no pillow case. 3. Breakfast was very poor at about 8:30 today. No coffee, no yogurt, no hard boiled eggs although signs indicated they should be there. Had sausage gravy that was good but no biscuits...only 4 slices of heals of bread. Only thing really available was making waffles or cold cereal. Couldn't even make toast beyond the four slices for everyone trying to have breakfast. On the positive side, afternoon manager (Jessie) and morning manager (Justin?) very apologetic, pleasant and tried to be helpful. Appears there's not enough staff and also that there's very little quality control on things. The room itself was fine...a few things that needed a little attention but nothing unworkable. Guess you get what you pay for...i.e. this is a budget motel and doesn't appear to have the resources to deliver better than so-so service.

Missing smoke detector, waited 10 minutes at front counter to get a room card replaced

Had a reservation, check in time is 2. We arrived around 4 and the lady sat there and said she was having issues logging on to the system and she then proceeded to get on her phone & we continued to wait about 20min with no clue what the deal was. She then told us their system was down and could not check us in and that we would have to wait around until system came back up and mind you she had no idea how long it would be. We were in town for a concert that was starting in an hour & really needed to be able to get into our room. We went to another hotel right next to them and they were able to get us in a room. I called to cancel my reservation since they were unable to check us in anf would not know how long it would be until we could get into a room and told me i would still need to pay for the room since i was canceling even though i did not cancel because of me. THEY were unable to check us in, had no other way around things and it was all due to their system. Should not be put on me. She was rude, not understanding and i asked to speak to a manager but she said they never have management there. Then asked for manager number and she was not giving that either. We didnt habe hours to wait to be able to check in our room & had no idea when we could so should not be our fault we chose to go elsewhere. Horrible place. Horrible staff. Horrible customer service.

Only problem was check-in. Front office was vacant with 2 conflicting instructions on how to contact someone via phone. Unsure if either method worked as audio level was so low as to be unheard. Someone did show up though so something worked. Other than that, all was just find.

The staff was friendly and helpful. Lot's of dining options. The room could have used more lighting options, otherwise okay for the night.

The staff were very friendly and cordial with everyone. Nice people all around. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a place to stay while in Cedar Rapids

Please note that my review has no reflection of the staff. The staff was very nice. Peter at the front desk was super helpful and accommodating, whenever I needed anything, he did not hesitate to assist, from pliers to Band-Aids, he had me covered. He even assisted me with directions to Walmart. my room was OK. There was a bloodstain on the mattress which you could see through the bedsheet. The toilet bowl is completely cracked, which had me nervous when I needed to use it as I was afraid it would break. Complementary breakfast was not as I expected. The boiled eggs had a funny smell and felt like they were probably two weeks old. I would not recommend this place, but I would stay here again only because of the service which was great.

Not good area. Dead rat in the parking lot. Weed smoke near back door. Floor of room needed mopped. My socks got dirty on it. No closet. Thst was inconvenient.

The room was what I would expect of a Super 8, which is fine. But the rats all over the dumpster area were disgusting.

Plenty of space for parking and close to my job

Great place to stay, budget friendly for sure! Staff at desk very accommodating, room sparsely furnished but comfortable bed and clean bathroom was what we were looking for as we only stayed one night, close to airport for flight that left early next morning, overall excellent, would definitely recommend this hotel!

Honestly there was a guy walking around the parking lot with a bottle of whiskey pointing at our car, while I have my 11 year old in the vehicle. Very disturbing. Looked like there was a prostitute as well...just very disturbing

Location was good for ease on and off the highway. Price point was lower than the Northern area of Cedar Rapids. Breakfast area was clean, but the floors throughout the rest of the property were filthy. A woman, presumed to be homeless was staying just to the right of the front doors with a cart and multiple black garbage bags, a bit uncomfortable being greeted this way. Staff were pleasant and demure.

It was something out of a nightmare! Place smelled of alcohol and cigarettes. No smoke alarm, holes in walls, shower curtain looked like it had vomit on it, burn marks on the carpet and stains on sheets. People gathering and yelling right outside of our window, at 3am there was a fight with people screaming ‘help’ ‘get out of my face’ and ‘I’m calling 911’. It felt extremely unsafe and dirty.

Shower did not work. I always take a shower before driving to the location we are going to and could not shower. Advertised with breakfast and sign was posted due to some condition in the food prep area, there would be no breakfast. Room was damp despite air conditioning being set to low 70's. There was no working smoke alarm. It is a dangerous place to stay and probably in violation of the local health and safety code related to hotels/motels. Should have gotten a significant rebate/money back for no operating shower and no breakfast.

Check in was easy and staff was friendly. We got a king size room and it was your basics and clean with a good continental breakfast. Restaurants and fast food within walking distance and a gas station next door. Very pleased with our experience here and would definitely stay again.

the check in service was very slow, the breakfast (what little they had was poor. All they had was cold cereal, biscuits and gravy. the biscuits were partially frozen and the gravy and coffee were cold.
