The Ridges Resort made for a memory filled vacation meet up spot for our family coming from out of town. The grounds and lake are beautiful and relaxing, everyone is super nice and friendly, and walking to the marina, the pool, and the water park was very convenient with kids, along with nightly s’mores at the fire pit. The bad reviews are kind of sad because it is definitely a more rustic, simple resort and not a super fancy hotel; it’s in the middle of the mountains in a small town! I love fancy stuff and luxurious trips myself, but we loved the old school, more low key fun we had here. The staff clearly takes pride in everything they do at the resort; and make you feel very welcome. There are a few really good restaurants nearby, a couple of coffee shops, and boating, hiking, activities, etc. If you are looking for room service and a super high end experience, this isn’t the place to go, but it is an extremely fun and beautiful place for a very reasonable price. We, along with quite a few other guests, spent our early mornings on the dock with our coffees enjoying the beautiful lake and chatting. We plan to come back many times!

I enjoyed my stay. The facilit was clean and the grounds were beautiful. We did not leave all day because it was so nice to walk around. However, the resort charges $25 per person for a resort fee. We were told this covered the nightly smores and firepits. Unfortunately, the two nights we stayed the firepits were not ignited. I chose the resort because of the firepits and the beautiful landscape. I was so looking forward to sitting by the firepit. We were told by two front desk staff that they would be lit from 8pm tob10pm. My fiance felt so bad for me he wanted to lite the fire himself. Please don't disappoint another guest. I traveled great distance for this experience and was definitely misled. Other wise, i say give them a try!

The property has a gorgeous view of the lake. Property was clean. The pool is cleaned daily - but doesn't open until 10AM. We would definitely stay here again.

The resort is in a lovely location and we enjoyed the lake view and the breakfast was fantastic. We were somewhat concerned with the balcony railings. Very rotten wood and some banisters were falling out. The landscaping crew must be on vacation. So much work to be done.

Overall the property was clean and the views of the lake and mountains were amazing. We were mad aware that they were changing out their phone system and there no phones in our room. The only way to communicate with the front desk was to call from your cell, but on up to certain hours at night. There would not be anyone at the front desk after those hours. Our room was comfortable, but there was a bug on my comforter, a stain on the night stand that could not be removed, a chair with what looked like someone threw bleach on it and stained carpet not only in our room but most of the carpets in the halls/stairs.

The rooms are nice and a good size. The property is beautiful right on the lake! It’s convenient to Hiawassee and surrounding towns. Staff is always nice and helpful! The porches and balconies on the resort side need some repair. It would be nice to have some plastic cups to make a drink in, they only have paper coffee cups and those aren’t suitable for an iced drink. Overall we’ve stayed here multiple times and would recommend.

We were charged a resort fee for one night. Very small properly with exterior needing some TLC. On the lake which is nice but traffic from the road is distracting. The pool was closed. I do not understand the resort fee. Just another reason to charge guest more. Thank God my trip was only 1 night.

Entering our room, we find the bathroom door was off the rail and sitting on its bottom on the floor. This is a barn type rolling door. I had to call from the room using my cell phone as the room phone did not work. Following that, we discovered a brown stain on the white comforter. Yuck. and called again using a cell phone. I will say the front desk person was very helpful. As for the bourbon barrel tasting, it was a bust, in my opinion. The mgr,Troy, reminded me of 'mumbles' and was of no help. Maybe should be a disher instead. Walking to the marina station for eats was convenient.

First of all, everyone was friendly from the moment we arrived. Our room was clean and fresh and comfortable and those were the most soft pillows I have ever used. The grounds were clean and comfortable. They had marshmallows s'mores outside at night for families I felt really safe. I really do like this place and I will be returning. I have nothing bad to say. I really enjoyed myself. I wish I could have stayed another night

We did enjoy our time at this property. The floor above us is paper thin, so we woke up with the family above us much earlier than we hoped. The lobby area was beautiful. The rooms are nice. The bathroom had some mold around the tub, but overall clean. Our patio off of our room could have been brushed off. A good bit of spider webs. The Oak restaurant on property was phenomenal. It was easy to rent a jet ski and get on the water. Great staff all around. Would come back!

Honestly I don't know what makes this place a resort, for me it's just a hotel. There's nothing to do, if I got bored, imagine my 2 year old son. The place needs renovation, the carpet is dirty and looks old, the room was dirty, especially the bathroom, and judging by the smell of the bed linens, they didn't seem to be clean. The view for the lake is nice, but based on everything else it's not worth the price. Disappointed, I definitely wouldn't go back.

Everything was great until we got ants in our room. It wasnt the ants that disappointed me but the lack of caring from the woman who was working. I explained the situation and told her i couldn't change rooms at the time due to a excursion planned and payed for. I asked if the room could be sprayed while we were gone for the entire day. When we arrived back nothing had been done and we had ants EVERYWHERE. When i switched rooms no one helped me and it took me almoat 2 hours to pack and then unpack again. I was only upset by the lack of caring. Ants cant be helped but i would have appreciated just a little consideration or an offer of a hand. Otherwise it was a beautiful place and everyone else that worked there was great. I would stay there again even after this.

Room was clean, facilities and grounds were clean. We were there on Christmas Day and the restaurants were closed (so was everything else in town), but they brought in prepared meals that you could microwave. That was a considerate touch. All the staff was great. Love the upper and lower lobbies and the fireplace.

The property could be very nice. We had 3 rooms in the first 10 hours. The first one - tv didn't work, 2nd reeked of cologne and bathroom smelled horrible. The 3rd one the bathroom was not clean at all... hair all over the floor and the tub would not drain. If the place was cleaner and the carpet was taken out it would be good. They had alot of nice assets. Coffee, etc all day. Smores at the fire pit. And a restaurant was available on premises. The staff was awesome and very accommodating. Just needs a better cleaning service and upgrade carpets. They are pet friendly so it smelled like dogs a bit.

We had a lakeview king room and it was terrible in that is was so musty, damp and smelly! I honestly couldn't stand being in it. The carpet needs to be replaced! I made sure to wear my flip flops the entire time. It was gross. The bathroom floor did not seem clean either. I wouldn't be surprised if they took up that carpet and found mold. I did not sleep well with the mustiness in the room. We spent $737 for two nights in a crappy room. That's a lot of money. Was very disappointed with the room. It should have been $100/night at most but I know we're also paying for the grounds and pool I guess which were both nice. We liked the Oaks restaurant too. Ate there twice. Great food and service. The property is beautiful and well kept. Too bad the rooms are not. They need updating badly or at least the one we were in. We enjoyed having a glass of wine out in the green space and looking at the lake.

The property is beautiful and well kept. Too bad the rooms are not. They need updating badly or at least the one we were in. We enjoyed having a glass of wine out in the green space and looking at the lake.

Outside of hotel was beautiful. Beds were comfy. However, the balcony room was unlocked when I entered. There was no hook for the showers. Lots of holes in the room & general smell of mold.

The resort is in a beautiful location on the lake, sitting and walking outside was relaxing and landscaping lovely. The food at the restaurant on site delicious. Staff pleasant. The room had no closet or luggage rack. No space to put suitcase or countertops. The bathroom had no towel racks. Shower was nice.

First: we loved this place. The setting is awesome - very beautiful. The staff is extremely cordial and well-trained in customer care. The room was large, the bed comfortable. Incredibly large selection of tv channels. Two restaurants on site. The balcony is a nice feature. GREAT shower. Beautiful grounds to wander around. The Keurig coffee maker didn’t work ( and this is a compliment) when we told the desk clerk, she had a replacement in our room almost immediately. We will be back

We did enjoy our time at this property. The floor above us is paper thin, so we woke up with the family above us much earlier than we hoped. The lobby area was beautiful. The rooms are nice. The bathroom had some mold around the tub, but overall clean. Our patio off of our room could have been brushed off. A good bit of spider webs. The Oak restaurant on property was phenomenal. It was easy to rent a jet ski and get on the water. Great staff all around. Would come back!

Everyone was very nice and helpful. Everything is very pretty there. The carpet in hall and bedrooms need updated. Sliding doors in the bedrooms need to be made to slide better. But, all in all I would go back there.

The rooms are nice and a good size. The property is beautiful right on the lake! It’s convenient to Hiawassee and surrounding towns. Staff is always nice and helpful! The porches and balconies on the resort side need some repair. It would be nice to have some plastic cups to make a drink in, they only have paper coffee cups and those aren’t suitable for an iced drink. Overall we’ve stayed here multiple times and would recommend.

Book direct, through a 3rd party (hotels.com) your a second class guest they want you to direct everything through who you booked through. Very short on staff it appears as well at least around the 400pm check in time. Other than that the place is nice so is the area.

We checked in on Wednesday evening. Upon check in we were told a water pipe had busted & that there were 6 men actively working on getting it fixed. We continued to check in, went to dinner, came back a couple hours later and still no water. Thursday morning when we woke up, we checked with the front desk & there was STILL no water. We had my 80 year old grandmother with us & could not continue to stay another day/night with no water. We checked out that morning before ‘check out time’ & we politely asked for a refund. The Resort refused the refund because it was ‘non-refundable’ even though it was an issue on THEIR end, with no running water for over a day. We loved the place but we are highly upset we can not get a refund due to no fault of our own.

First of all, everyone was friendly from the moment we arrived. Our room was clean and fresh and comfortable and those were the most soft pillows I have ever used. The grounds were clean and comfortable. They had marshmallows s'mores outside at night for families I felt really safe. I really do like this place and I will be returning. I have nothing bad to say. I really enjoyed myself. I wish I could have stayed another night

Everything was great until we got ants in our room. It wasnt the ants that disappointed me but the lack of caring from the woman who was working. I explained the situation and told her i couldn't change rooms at the time due to a excursion planned and payed for. I asked if the room could be sprayed while we were gone for the entire day. When we arrived back nothing had been done and we had ants EVERYWHERE. When i switched rooms no one helped me and it took me almoat 2 hours to pack and then unpack again. I was only upset by the lack of caring. Ants cant be helped but i would have appreciated just a little consideration or an offer of a hand. Otherwise it was a beautiful place and everyone else that worked there was great. I would stay there again even after this.

The property is lovely, on the banks of Lake Chatuge in the mountains, but service didn't meet expectations. The front desk area is small & the two people who were there at check-in didn't greet or welcome us; they just looked at us until I said we'd like to check in (one was new & it seemed like the other was there helping, but he was also involved elsewhere so things seemed a bit confused). This was our first time at the property & we didn't know the layout so we asked how to get to Marina Station for dinner, & got instructions that weren't exactly accurate. Once we got into our room, we noticed two lamps that were unplugged, thinking at first that the bulbs were out but then realizing they'd been unplugged; housekeeping should check that lights work after each guest. The room was clean but the bathtub had a leftover razor cover, which again made me question the thoroughness of the housekeeping staff. The room was also missing a Do Not Disturb tag for the door, & the majority of the lightbulbs were the bright & glaring "daylight" instead of "soft light" ones. I appreciated the large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, & body wash, but there was no body lotion, which I expect from a resort hotel. The small balcony looked like it's not a part of the regular housekeeping & needed to be swept. In the morning there were terrible thunderstorms that caused the power to go out for several hours. The staff showed no care or hospitality during this & seemed annoyed by basic questions.

The rooms are older and could use some refreshing, especially in the halls and bathrooms. The new young lady at check-in was not trained enough to be on her own yet. Made us wait 10 minutes to check in while on the phone. Forgot about our request for a corkscrew. Then, took 10 minutes to figure out how to charge us for a bottle of wine. Property was quiet and nice.

Great Hotel! We walked around the lake and we went to the Marina for dinner. It was delicious! We had a concert at the Anderson Music Hall. After the concert, we drove to the hotel. We really loved it! It was convenient, but just enough, so it was quiet and all by myself.

This is our go to place when we go to Hiawassee. The lake views are amazing, and the property is well groomed and beautiful. The logging is close to the marina bar & grill with an easy enjoyable walking path, so you do have to drive. The rooms seem larger than a normal hotel. Checking in and out is so smooth with a great customer service staff. You will not regret staying here!

We came thinking it was something it wasn’t. Why a resort fee in the middle of winter? We thought the rooms were carpeted, but they were vinyl floors-evidently they were “upgrading”. We do not like those cold floor, and when I asked the front desk man to move us, he said it was not possible since the hotel was full and it was difficult to find a room with carpets. Okay, so the room was far from the elevator, going down narrow halls with a trolley. Our room was scarcely furnished, very small desk, and the fridge was a mini mini fridge-like taking up half the space in the cabinet. Yes, half of the usual size. No microwave, and our room was by the front door, where we could hear the music playing in the pull up area. Very disappointing. And it’s located right off a main road, not nestled up in nature, by any means. Pretty dated, could use an all around upgrade. Definitely won’t be staying here again, and actually couldn’t wait to get home.

We were charged a resort fee for one night. Very small properly with exterior needing some TLC. On the lake which is nice but traffic from the road is distracting. The pool was closed. I do not understand the resort fee. Just another reason to charge guest more. Thank God my trip was only 1 night.

Lovely property and rooms. Beautiful view of the lake. Easy walking to restaurants. It was a mixed bag as far as customer service. The hotel staff were lovely and able to accommodate my extra needs. However, the service at the restaurant The Oaks, that is a part of the resort, was seriously lacking. Food was fine, at best, and was on the expensive side. Cocktails, not great. They seemed understaffed for breakfast and didn't greet anyone at the door which left me and others awkwardly waiting, unsure of what to do. Overall, it was a fine stay. Seems perfect if you plan to stay with a group and utilize the nearby marina and lake. However, if you are just staying in the hotel for a night or two, or traveling alone, it seems too expensive for the experience and quality of stay.

We interacted with at least four people at the front desk for various questions or issues we faced on our stay and EVERYONE was pleasant and resolved our questions promptly and satisfactorily. Our only complaint is with food. The breakfast was adequate, but each morning the protein ran out and took far too long to be replenished. The orange and apple juices were obviously from concentrate and tasted watered down. The food at the Marina restaurant was very disappointing. We had the pulled pork and Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and both were quite bad. The service there, though, was just as good as at the hotel. The ambience, food and service at The Oaks was TREMENDOUS! We have traveled a lot as a couple and this was one of the most enjoyable stays we have had (especially nice since we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary).

We have traveled a lot as a couple and this was one of the most enjoyable stays we have had (especially nice since we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary).

Shouldnt be charged $25 resort fee. No smores, no apple cidar in lobby, phones in room dont work. Not sure what a resort fee was for ontop of $5.00 daily hotel fee. That i wasnt told about till i got my receipt emailed to me.. No breakfast of any kind in hotel. Hotels need to stop nickle and diming people. If your gonna charge a resort fee have amenities like breakfast. Staff was nice, room was nice, but wanna know why charged those fees for Nothing.

Property is clean, but definitely needs some updating. We are at the Oaks kitchen and it was excellent. Great service as well. The rooms are older and could use some refreshing, especially in the halls and bathrooms. The new young lady at check-in was not trained enough to be on her own yet. Made us wait 10 minutes to check in while on the phone. Forgot about our request for a corkscrew. Then, took 10 minutes to figure out how to charge us for a bottle of wine. Property was quiet and nice.

The property is gorgeous and relaxing. Our room needed a bit of a refurbish. Curtain torn. The coffee maker didn’t work and the tv was not connected to the internet.

We stayed one night for a nearby concert. Check-in was at 4pm and we arrived around 5pm - our room was not ready. Thankfully we were already showered and dressed, otherwise this would have been a problem to make our dinner on time. The check-in staff was great. Kind and helpful. There's a lot to do close by which is nice. All restaurants are easily walkable. The hotel itself could use some updating. The shower had great water pressure which is always nice to have. The bathroom products could use some upgrading, as well as having extra blankets in the room. Ours didn't have any. It was fine for what we paid (about $200 for a Sunday night), but I had expected a bit more from looking at the website.
