Econo Lodge Airport - RJ Stadium

Many repairs needed, first room plumbing not functioning, second room AC failed, mattresses at the end of lifespan. Ice machines all broken. Great location for sports or music events, but needs a Lot of work. Staff friendly and helpful, just needs a lot of TLC.

Stayed here alone for a few nights in Tampa because I am moving house and needed to work during the day. The internet was not that strong, so that cause a little drama, and somehow the key card for my door stopped working. That said, the staff were great all day long, including early in the morning, and late at night. They fixed what I asked to fix, and it was an inexpensive spot for me to just get through the work week. I would definitely stay there again if I was passing through Tampa.

The air conditioner was unable to cool the room without the use of my fan to help it out. Even the lobby air conditioner didn't work properly. Both of the exterior stair cases had areas where they were rusted through and the stair treads sagged making them feel unsafe to use. The carpet in the room hadn't been cleaned in years and the furniture was a mismatch of odds and ends that were well worn. There was a total of 2 outlets in the room and no wi-fi. However the bed was comfortable and the linens were clean, and the bathroom was clean and there was good hot water.

Not enough light at night between the buildings.

First no hair dryer then ice machine broke then TV and refrigerator unplugged had to move the furniture and plug it in and was not clean and was noisy all night

Good location as 1 block to Bucs and Yankees facilities. On main road. Room was ok but appeared to be long term guests/tenants also staying at the hotel that milled around allot. Hotel did not have a pool which has been closed for years. Ads are misleading. Overall I would not stay here again as a pool in the heat is crucial.

The Expedia review shows a pool. There is no pool. Also you don’t get housekeeping service unless you expressly request it. The only positive element this place has is the front desk clerk named Jair who went out of his way to make sure I had a pleasant stay.

Very dirty outside. Tub was clogged but was repaired relatively quick. One area of stairs was collapsed and was taped off. There was a drunk/drugged guy passed out on stairs when we arrived. The ice machine was working but was moldy and dirty at the spout. The soda machine was broken. There was a fight in the room above us. Of course our phone did not work so could not call front desk. When I reported it the next morning I could have been talking about the weather because the front desk didn't care.

Adequate lighting would be nice. The parking lot was pitch black at night with people hanging around walking around the hotel that were not guest.

The reviews for this hotel at the end of Feb 2025 were almost all terrible. I would have never stayed there if I would've seen them before my reservation. But I didn't. To my big surprise, the place I found was exactly the opposite to what people describe in their reviews. The place was impeccable, fresh and clean everywhere. Very confortable and everything worked well. It was a real pleasure stay there. I would recommend it highly. Just one comment, please upgrade your WiFi. It is way too weak.

Bathroom needs cleaning, the tub was black and hair on the walls. Toilet barely flushed. I had a hole in my blanket, looked like a cigarette burn. Pillows were hard as a rock. Doors were dirty/stained and paint was chipping. The outside was dirty. Floors weren’t sweeped because there was hair and crumbs everywhere. Tv remote didn’t have batteries and tv was unplugged.

Worse than other reviews suggested, checked out 5 mins after checking in. Run down, strong smell of cleaning products, dirty beds and showers and broken down toilets. Extremely dark parking lot. Nothing about this place is acceptable. Needs to be gutted and completely renovated.

Awful. Gross. Will be complaining the attendant said to the guy ahead of us in line that it’s not the best here. Bug in bed and droppings on side of cabinet. Run!

Room was overall dirty. Stains on bedsheet and pillows.

Our nonsmoking room smelled strongly of smoke. There were hairs on the sheets, the shower leaked, the door had a huge gap in the seal, there was staining on the bedding, and we had a huge dark fresh stain on the floor that hadn’t been cleaned. You get what you pay for.

Receptionists were kind but that was the only good thing. I know you get what you pay for but… wow. Shower towels all had stains, the bed sheets had holes and small black marks, the entrance door had such a large gap under it that was letting in so much humidity the entire room felt sticky. Put a towel to try and block that out a bit but it didn’t work. There was a bug in the shower and no water pressure in the shower. The night stand drawers seemed to be falling out. The floors felt dirty. Honestly I stay at a lot of cheaper hotels and have no problem but this was enough to get me to spend more in the future, not worth it.

While room was reasonably clean, the building itself is in shambles. The air conditioner didn't work. There was no lighting at night around the room. There was leaking water outside the room. I was greeted upon arrival in a lobby by young man who didn't really seem to want to be there. The lobby smelled of marijuana strongly. I came back later and the young man seemed quite upset that I interrupted him. This motel should be torn down to the ground and rebuilt. I'm surprised that it stands. The price for this should be far less for its quality.

I gave this a three star rating because it was so convenient for The Raymond James Stadium. Checkin was good but our key cards did not work when we went back to the reception we was in a queue all with same problem. Now believe this when entering the room put on the lights not working ,tried the bedside and lamp lighting not working inspected the connector not plugged in because there was not a outlet ,got by using the bathroom light with door left open. The bathroom door wood veneer was half missing very unattractive. Tv remote did not have batteries, reception fixed that. Beds ok ,towels grubby got up early and showered at home, good working refrigerator. With a bit of work and imagination these rooms could be renovated for not a lot of money and of course charge a bit more money especially for visiting football spectators I am sure future guests would appreciate this.

Clearly the topic of place that doesn’t get any sort of maintenance ever. Popped tiles, shower curtain rods hanging on like a fat guy’s belt at an all-you-can-eat, inexplicably long strands of hair everywhere, rusty fixtures, and questionable drywall. I suppose this isn’t all too unusual for Florida motels, but there was zero seal around the door. Light coming in from all sides- so all sorts of bugs coming in. Don’t inspect the towels/linens too closely either. Stain city. The photos you see posted on their parent brand’s website, Choice Hotels, DO NOT reflect the rooms at all. If they do, it might be the one or two they did over for those photos. Staff doesn’t seem very knowledgeable or they just don’t give a flip. I asked for the laundry key (because they lock that room apparently) and the desk clerk just said “it’s lost, I think someone stole it.” I mean, if you’re locking a room regularly, how do you not have multiple keys? Heck, they’ve got plenty of keycard readers… fortunately the much nicer hotel next door had laundry, so I went there. No breakfast to speak of either. First Econolodge I’ve ever found that didn’t offer some sort of breakfast. If you’re looking for a place to stay and have low/no standards, by all means- stay here.

Toilet was broken. Had to have maintenance fix it. Tv is analog. Don’t plan on watching tv. Beds slant and seem to be broken?!?! Limited towels and soap

Old Curtain did not stay closed and you can see in. Shower head loose and leaked. Room smells. I guess you get what you pay for. Ok for the price.

This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The lock for my room didn't work. Neither did the TV. Got another room and the neighbors were playing loud music. I left to go to my event and came back to the same music. Called the front desk. No answer. Went to the front desk and it was locked. Waited and knocked until someone showed up. They were clearly having a phone conversation with someone and didn't hang up while I asked them to help with the music. They came to my room while still engaging with a personal phone call. They heard the music. Told me they would deal with it. They didn't do anything. They didn't even contact the other room's occupants. I went back to the office and asked them to give me another room. So I moved again. Never staying at an Econo Lodge again.

Overall, the experience was a positive one. The only complaint I have is that the room reeked of cigarettes, even though I got the non-smoking room. Also, the walls don't really block out sound very well, so we could hear everything that was going on outside.

The door knob is falling off. The air conditioner did not make the room cold. It was cooler outside than in the room.

You can tell that they have put serious effort into making it look nice and they did a decent enough job at it. Both staff members that I interacted with were very friendly and as helpful as they could be. Unfortunately nothing could be done about the air conditioner that struggled to keep our room below 80F.

We we're just staying overnight, to be close to the airport for an early flight. First off the man at the desk was rude. The room was in need of attention. There was a gap in the door frame, and patches of plaster on the walls, celing, and bathroom tiles, the sink was slow to drain, and the tv was snowy (my husband was able to fix that) the bed was not at all comfortable, didnt sleep well. Overall it was bad, and sidnt feel safe. definately not waoth what we paid for one night. We will never choose Econo lodge in the future!!

The staff at check in was horrible had an attitude like they did not want to be there and told me my room was not ready when check was 1.5 before my arrival time. The keys did not work had to go to the lobby three times before they finally worked, the rooms looked completely than the pictures in the listing and the beds were completely uncomfortable. Would like for a representative to call me

Terrible! Checked in, but had to wait 2 hours for the room to be ready. Apparently they had a staffing shortage in housekeeping. They said they would call when the roomwas ready. They didn't. My wife went in and complained. They were giving out rooms to new check ins, but not taking care of the multiple people still waiting. They gave us a room finally. This made us miss our dinner reservation.

I enjoyed my stay here. The staff was nice and professional. I would most assuredly go there again. If you have specials or coupons, please let me know. I'll be more than happy to use them.

Check in easy, room clean, and close to events I visit. Staff, helpful and friendly.

Front desk was super helpful in letting us know about fun areas to check out. Super hospitable. Will stay again if in the area

Key didn't work, so went to the front desk, but nobody was working and the front door was locked. It took more than 30min for someone to finally show up.

Location was good for the AC/DC concert.

While the room could use a good scrubbing, for the price and free parking, it was worth it. We parked for the AcDc concert, We only used the room to cool off and freshen up while waiting for traffic to die down. As we are local, we drove home. The staff at check-in was absolutely A+ wonderful

Great location for Raymond James stadium

it what was to be expected. Good location for a Tampa game being within walking distance. The staff know when to be ready as well for home games. Not far from the airport.

My husband and I was there for the game and the stadium was in walking distances so we didn't have to pay for parking.

Very convenient location for concert at the stadium. Easy to Uber to RayJ and walk back at night. Very safe and quiet. Great deli right there on the same area Potbellies deli.

This property is not what was advertised on the app. I had a roach crawling on my bed. There was no breakfast at all, only coffee. The toilet wouldn't flush my father had to keep fixing it. The front door would close all the way, and someone came by and slide an advertisement thru it. For the price I paid this property was nowhere worth it.

No shopping nearby. There is a gas station where you can purchase sodas and microwavable food.

This hotel could use a bit of help. The room was decent but the tv signal was grainy and there is no microwave in the unit as advertised. Youll have to go to the office to heat up any food. The rolom was comfy enough to serve its inteded purpose and the staff was friendly at checkin. The only other complaint is the condition of the road on the side of the hotel, but im not going to nitpick about an entire heard of 5 different kinds of birds fouling the entire road regularly, the hotel doesnt own the wildlife in the area and cannot be blamed for it. Its convenient to the major north/south road in tampa and finding your way to fine dining and other entertainment is rather easy from this location.

Disappointed there was nothing available other than coffee when we arrived at 11 pm and when we left at 7.45 am
