A main reason for booking this hotel was for the pool. Unfortunately, despite consistently being told the pool was closed for cleaning it never opened during the entirety of our stay. Additionally, the surrounding grounds next to the hotel was covered in dangerous trash.

LARGE rooms with oversized swivel tvs which can be viewed either from living room or bedroom. Well stocked hot and cold breakfast buffet. Friendly efficient helpful staff. Well maintained indoor swimming pool, and small but equipped exercise room. Excellent efficiency kitchen with burners, microwave, refrigerator, sink and dishwasher. Very convenient location

Hotel is tired looking. Staff were friendly, and did try to help. Pool was out of action on the second day. The lighting in the car park was terrible. Could be scary for women when arriving late at night. The rooms were dated and well worn… On the plus side, its location is good. Easy to get to Mystic and surrounding areas.

The 2 bedroom suite was awesome and had everything in the room that you could possibly need during your stay. First thing I didn't like is that there is 2 separate buildings and I had to walk outside to get to the pool or lobby for breakfast. Second, the pool water was heated but still on the cold side for December.

Great service and nice 2-bedroom suite. Although the pool was not available due to being serviced, the front desk person found another local Marriott so we could use their pool. We didn’t end up going there due to lack of time, but the thought was much appreciated!

Booked a hotel night so kids could swim over winter break, only to show up and find out the pool has been closed for a couple weeks due to an issue. Annoyed that they do not post a warning about closed amenities. Front desk staff was nice enough to call a sister-hotel (12 mins away) to allow us to swim there. Not super convenient, but was a gesture that most others will offer.

My room was nice and clean. It had good amenities; though I didn’t need them for my stay (kitchen, fire place). The condition of the hotel as a whole, however, needs attention. The pool was very cold and had a film over the top/wasn’t clear, which made it unpleasant. The hallway floors were stained and needed vacuuming. The breakfast was okay but the seats in the lobby were very dirty. I also found it a little odd that we had to walk through two buildings to get back to the lobby/pool/breakfast, but that’s just the design of the structure. My tv did not work on my first night and although the issue was thankfully resolved, it was late at night and I did not receive a time when we would expect the technician. Overall, it was a convenient location and the check-in staff were very nice, but it was not worth the price.

I was skeptical after booking and then reading the negative reviews that maybe we didn't make the right choice. To my surprise, the room was extremely clean up on arrival, absolutely no complaints about the room and it's comfort. Front staff was very pleasant. My only complaint was about the pool, which was quite chilly (I don't think it was heated). The pool light was broken and just hanging out the pool, still attached to the inside that left a hole in the pool, which kinda spooked us all out. Also the broken belt for the heat in there was really loud and intrusive. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was better than average hotels. The full size kitchen and two bedroom suit was perfect for our family needs. I would stay again.

This property is falling apart. The curtains were ripped. The chair in the living room looked like it was picked up from the street corner garbage can. Stains on mattress and pillows. Bugs in the bathroom. Ceiling had big brown stains on it and peeling. Just horrible! The entire time we were there, hotel was out of towels!!! The staff are super nice and they don’t deserve to work in this crappy hotel. Worse hotel I have stayed at. Marriott should be ashamed!

Cleaning crew left wet towels in the room, white powder falling from the ceiling from the little horse running upstairs, toilet leaking when flushed, blood on thd wall, pullout couch mattress was filthy. Front desk tried to accommodate however at 11pm it was too inconvenient to pack up 4 kids and move. Definitely requesting a refund.

The first room I was in had blood on the curtains. I tried to sleep, but was awakened at 7:00am by a loud basketball game. I was on the 3rd floor and the court wasn't visible from my window but was close by. It was extremely cold out in January, so I couldn't fathom that people would be playing at all let alone at that hour on a Sunday. The fact that this kept me up on the 3rd floor shows how poorly this building was made. I asked to be moved to another room at noon. The front desk person gave me the runaround for 3 hours, not calling back when they said they would, giving me unrealistic timeframes for when they'd reply. I couldn't leave and had to wait 3 hours to figure out if I could change rooms. Once another person came on shift, they changed my room in 5 mins. The new room had an extremely loud heater that also made sleep difficult. The building was dingy and not well kept up. I would not stay here again.

All staff were friendly and greeted us with a smile ! Our 1 bedroom with pullout and kitchenette was a disappointment. Phone did not work, pullout mattress had a huge red/brown stain, door jam was wonky, each time we closed door we had to push the jam "in" manually to close door and toilet overflowed with no plunger available. We had to walk down to lobby to report overflow as the phone did not work. We asked to have a room change for our second nights stay. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite on the second floor. It was much better than our first room. Unfortunately, the noise from the hallway and 3rd floor was really annoying and one of the bathrooms had a red substance smeared on the lower part of the wall. The pool was clean, hot in temperature (felt like a hot tub) and I believe it is a salt water pool. I don't plan on returning to this hotel.

The hotel is old and many common areas are dirty, like rugs, the elevator, etc. The rooms are cleaner but not good enough. We wanted to shower but there weren’t shampoo, conditioner, nor bath gel in the recipients. We asked to the main desk, we waited more than 30 minutes and when we called again, they said there is no one to come. I had to look for house keepers in other floors to ask for the toiletries. But the housekeeper started to telling me that they don’t had bath gel because someone forgot to buy… I told them to give me the other stuff because I was wasting my vacations time by waiting to have the things that should be there when I received the room.

There was a window air conditioner that only kept the living room cold. It was sweltering in the hallway also. The bed was very uncomfortable, and I had to call for extra sheets, blankets and pillows for the sofa bed, even though we had three people listed on our reservation

Our room which was supposed to sleep four adults had a double bed and a pull out twin mattress. We had the staff come to our room at 2am to unplug the refrigerator due to banging sounds. This was the worst night sleep ever at a residence inn.

We booked the room based on having 6 in our party but the room we received only slept 5. Room was 80 degrees and you can tell other guests had the same issue because the handles on the windows are broken and vents were broken. No screens in the 2nd story window so it was dangerous to have open if you have kids. Main tv didn’t work. Called the front desk but no one showed up to fix it and no other rooms available unless we split up our family.
We booked the room based on having 6 in our party but the room we received only slept 5. Room was 80 degrees and you can tell other guests had the same issue because the handles on the windows are broken and vents were broken. No screens in the 2nd story window so it was dangerous to have open if you have kids. Main tv didn’t work. Called the front desk but no one showed up to fix it and no other rooms available unless we split up our family.

I don't know how this hotel has an 8.2 rating, especially given all the terrible reviews I'm seeing now. I didn't read them initially because of the high rating and the fact it's a Marriot - I assumed it would be fine. While the beds were clean, the rug was torn up, the couch was stained, and the appliances were all dented. While those are all cosmetic, I really expected more from a Marriot. And the pool, a big part of why we chose here, was super cloudy and really questionable. God knows what's going on in there. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

This hotel is adequate but I could see where some people would be disappointed. Our room was a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite. The hallways and room was just okay and dated but it was quiet and comfortable. To start off, the kitchen garbage was overflowing when we walked in. That wasn't a good start. There was an electric start gas fireplace that didn't work. I appreciated the utensils but the drawer they were in was broken. The old time mechanical thermostat worked well. The in-room heat/AC worked well for us but the dust and dirt from the vents accumulated on the dated "popcorn" finished ceiling. The couch had visible stains on the cushions. I tried flipping the cushions but the other side was even worse. Our bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The TV in the bedroom was cleaned with a dirty rag and was very streaky. The tissue box in the bathroom had one tissue left with the blue line on it indicating to the cleaning staff that the box was empty. The bathroom was clean and everything worked well. Oddly, the way the property is designed with the parking, there are very few spots (4) by the front door, so you need to park further away to access your room. We used a side door to save time carrying our stuff. All in all, it was comfortable but not great.

The air conditioner broke in the first room I was placed in, and they were very quick to call an engineer to check a second room to make sure that I would not have the same complication. Then when I had a family emergency and had to cut my stay short, they negotiated with Expedia to help me get a refund so that I could leave early. The front staff was absolutely wonderful, and very professional!

I am extremely disappointed in my stay at this hotel. I was charged by Hotels.com when I booked the reservation and then the hotel also charged me and refused to refund. Also, we waited an 2 extra hours to check in because they had no one to clean the room due to being short staffed. The only thing I had going for it was it was affordable, and close to aquarium at least we thought so. Terrible customer service when I called to discuss the refund. I got put off three different times. Finally, after waiting for the refund for three weeks I got someone on the phone that just continued to argue with me instead of crediting the fraudulent charge.

Staff were very friendly and efficient, check in took only 2 or 3 minutes and check out took maybe 30 seconds. The room was clean and spacious. The free wifi was fine and I cannot comment on housekeeping or in room entertainment since I did not use them.

I made reservations a month in advance. They called me at 4:30 PM right before I arrived and said that there was a glitch and I had no reservation. They gave me a downgrade for a room. No kitchen, I had brought food to cook. Ruined my plans.and sent me two towns over to one of their subpar affiliates, the room had no kitchen, and the microwave didn’t even work. It was dirty. Service was terrible. It was a Springhill suites or something like that. I should have been given compensation above what I had asked for in the first place. But I got no compensation. I guess I was lucky to have any place to stay. Or that’s the way they think anyway.Not happy at all. I’ll be staying with Hilton from now on.

Booked a hotel night so kids could swim over winter break, only to show up and find out the pool has been closed for a couple weeks due to an issue. Annoyed that they do not post a warning about closed amenities. Front desk staff was nice enough to call a sister-hotel (12 mins away) to allow us to swim there. Not super convenient, but was a gesture that most others will offer.

The first room I was in had blood on the curtains. I tried to sleep, but was awakened at 7:00am by a loud basketball game. I was on the 3rd floor and the court wasn't visible from my window but was close by. It was extremely cold out in January, so I couldn't fathom that people would be playing at all let alone at that hour on a Sunday. The fact that this kept me up on the 3rd floor shows how poorly this building was made. I asked to be moved to another room at noon. The front desk person gave me the runaround for 3 hours, not calling back when they said they would, giving me unrealistic timeframes for when they'd reply. I couldn't leave and had to wait 3 hours to figure out if I could change rooms. Once another person came on shift, they changed my room in 5 mins. The new room had an extremely loud heater that also made sleep difficult. The building was dingy and not well kept up. I would not stay here again.

Overall we were very happy with this hotel and our stay. The room was great and we loved the studio feel with a small dining area and full kitchen. The breakfast was great. I really enjoyed the biscuits with gravy, but there was a ton of options. They had a basketball court which was a nice touch and were very close to everything. The pool was a bit cold and a little cloudy, but overall we were happy. We traveled with a family of 5 including a baby.

We stayed at the residence inn for a week. Good selection on breakfast bar. Within 5 miles of downtown mystic. Less than a mile to the mystic aquarium. We checked in late due to our almost 800 mile drive and was given incorrect information about the hold that would be placed on our card for incidentals. The kitchenette didn't have an oven, which we were a little bummed as we cook in the room and like to bake, but it was better than nothing. Some of the property needed repairs- hallway walls were peeling.The pool felt like a sauna so we only went one day. The staff was super nice and accommodating. Our room had a hot tub/jacuzzi which was unexpected. Would probably stay again when we come back to Connecticut in a couple years to visit family.

The staff here are amazing in my opinion, my boyfriend and I got here super early from NYC and check in isn’t until 4pm typically, they allowed us to check into a room that was available, it was definitely cozy and quiet. We had a nice little kitchenette that allowed us to do a bit of cooking, having a free breakfast in the morning as well is great too, they have a vast selection and take time to prepare and stock everything for visitors. We used the gym which helped us keep to our usual regimen a bit as well, and we walked pretty much everywhere since the olde mystic village is less than a 15 min walk from the hotel. There were two occasions during the week where staff baked cookies and brownies for those staying at the hotel (we got brownies the day we were leaving and it was amazing.) Some of the reviews are mixed but from what we encountered, it felt comfortable and cozy, nice and quiet and just everything we needed for the few days away from the chaos of the city. We will be coming again soon, hopefully for the summertime when a lot more of the outdoor activities and events are happening, but we did so much in the past couple of days that despite it being colder, we still had an amazing time. Thank you all for making our little vacation one of the most memorable ones.

Hotel is tired looking. Staff were friendly, and did try to help. Pool was out of action on the second day. The lighting in the car park was terrible. Could be scary for women when arriving late at night. The rooms were dated and well worn… On the plus side, its location is good. Easy to get to Mystic and surrounding areas.

Central location in Mystic, CT. The lobby had festive decorations. The pool and breakfast are easily accessible. Check in was easy and staff was professional and efficient. My room was large and comfortable, clean with all the amenities of a residence. I like the swiveling TV. Bathroom was large with heated lamp. Check out was easy.

The entire staff was wonderful with one bad exception at the front desk. The facility is in dire need of a complete renovation. Shabby, tired, worn, dark are some of the words that come to mind. Breakfast is second rate at best. We have stayed at Hampton in the past and will return there in the future. We wanted to like it but were disappointed by the overall appearance. Depressing. I would not stay again if it were not renovated.

The bed was horrible, hard and uncomfortable! The room was dirty with splashes of who knows what on the bathroom door, dishwasher full of dishes prior to check in. Dresser was uneven and there was a bar of soap used to help keep it upright. Remote didn’t work well. Room heater not working. Breakfast was ok but no coffee and person was not available in kitchen to get new coffee. Left disappointed!

Staff was polite and seemed to be always busy. Place could have been cleaner. And kept running out of breakfast. Pool area was well maintained, we had a little fish with us so we spent a good amount of time by the pool and the staff were checking towels and such often.

The room was perfect for traveling with older “kids.” There were two nice sized bedrooms, each with a bath. The living area was a nice size as well with acute little kitchen. Everything was comfortable and clean. It’s not luxurious, but the room was beautifully furnished and comfortable for 4 people over 18. For the price, I would absolutely recommend a stay. We enjoyed our time there.

The best part was the one morning the breakfast staff attendant was superb he kept things cleaned and stocked. Next day not even creamer available for coffee Did not have hot water for shower or sink. Needed to wait to next day to see if could be fixed or move rooms which is an inconvenience with grandkid. Renovations ongoing is fine but the parking lot and deliveries are in the way of guests. Highly disappointed in the stay.
The best part was the one morning the breakfast staff attendant was superb he kept things cleaned and stocked. A good location. Reserved the suite which suited us well. We had a light out in the bathroom that took a while to get fixed. Hotel is under renovations which we were not notified of until a week before so no time to find another place. Breakfast was good, staff was friendly.
