This was my second time staying here. The staff are incredibly friendly, rooms very nice, restaurant/bar great to have on site, coffee in the lobby in the morning, decent gym in the lower level, good walking distance from the Gaslight district and also the convention center.

Front desk checked me in super early which was nice as I had to fly in for a one day conference. This allowed me to change clothes in a nice room vs a bathroom. Overall the hotel is beautiful and my room was very nice. Great bed and condition. My only regret is there is no gift shop to buy snacks

This hotel looked so great in pics. The lobby is very pretty. The Grant Grill was nice. But then you go up the elevator. The rooms are not very nice for the price. The cleanliness is not up to par. Our view in our first room was atrocious. They “upgraded” Us. It wa the exact same room but a view of 3rd street rather than the roof. I would not go back to this hotel. No pool either.

The hotel and staff were all fine. Five stars for cleanliness. Not too many services included - an additional charge for everything. Wi-Fi was for members only. Parking was $60/night. This may be the best Downtown has to offer. Location was great.

Good location to access areas around downtown. Short walk to bars. They have a really comfortable mattress, and byredo supplies, we had a great time. The only thing is valet $65 per night.

Location is a bit shady as that part of town has seen better times. Valet parking and bell service are excellent. Room condition was good, except for some old food left on carpet. Water pressure so-so. Room orientation very nice. Oddly they have no internet. The gym was nice, a couple of elliptical and a couple of treadmills & free weights. I asked about extending my stay and their reply was to use 3rd party. That was a bit odd. Overall a very nice hotel with few flaws. But dudes, spend just a little for internet … people have work to do, a trip to coffee shop just to get some work done is inconvenient.

The hotel is very luxurious in decor, but the TV, phone, lamp and clock weren't working. I had to call for repairs. If you're on the top floors the elevator takes a long time to arrive

I’m not sure what makes this part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection. The property’s lobby was nice, but that was the extent. Elevator buttons were missing/broken, rooms were older, the room was dusty everywhere you looked. Our fridge had not been cleaned from a previous guest and so there was a rotten smell in there when we opened it to put water in. Would not stay here again.

The hotel was beautiful, but the room itself needed to have some extra love when it came to cleanliness and around the windows it was really dirty. Had a refrigerator that didn’t work in the room so they had to bring up a new one.

We absolutely loved this hotel. The location was perfect within walking distance to the Rady Shell where we were seeing John Mullany and the waterfront in general. The hotel itself was clean and absolutely beautiful. That chandelier! Then there was the food! Room service was some of the very best we've ever had. I have never raved over a charcuterie board before! The bed was super comfortable and concierge was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I have nothing negative to say. Will absolutely stay there any time I'm in San Diego.

I can not remember when we had a better experience at a hotel. Everyone we encountered smiled and was friendly and helpful. We mentioned it was our anniversary at check in and they upgraded our room for us. The hotel itself is beautiful and impeccably clean. The room was beautiful and spacious and the bed and bedding were cozy and comfortable. The valet team were so helpful and nice. We had dinner in the lounge in the hotel. Dinner and drinks were fantastic and the vibe was cozy and comfortable. I honestly can't wait to book another stay here!

Room is cramped especially the bathroom. Bathroom smallest we’ve experienced in a 5 star hotel. Air conditioning was extremely loud so couldn’t have it on at night so choice of hot room or no sleep. Each day had to ask to have the room cleaned when not done by 5:00 pm.

This hotel is fabulous! The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. Even though we were in middle of the city, we could not hear any street noise. The hotel staff were top notch. We were able to check in early (which was a surprise bonus) and the front desk staff made some suggestions on things to do and not miss while in San Diego. The location was a little north of the chaos of gaslamp district. It is a little calmer but still walking distance. It is also a short walk to Little Italy. We had delicious drinks in the hotel lounge and enjoyed the relaxed vibe.

• customer service - 5/5 - best customer service we’ve had from any hotel / resort • property - 5/5 - such a classy aesthetically pleasing hotel - I do wish there was a rooftop area or some sort of outdoor area • hotel room - 3/5 - we loved our hotel room - lots of pillows, comfy bed, the design & layout was beautiful & the bathroom was really nice - the only thing was that the air was a bit stuffy so we had to turn the a/c off & open the window for fresh air throughout the night. • surrounding area - 3/5 - it’s in the city so expect noise & not the best food options. Richard Walkers pancakes was the only place that stands out.

Lovely historic hotel. Our room was compact but nice. But the real difference is the service. We ordered breakfast delivered to our room one morning; I highly recommend the experience. The staff was all very nice and accommodating. The concierges Brooks and Lee Ann were engaging and quite helpful.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff very friendly. However, I cannot give it high marks and will never stay there again because of the room. It had only one chair. There was no place for 2 people to sit. One of us always had to either sit on the floor or on the bed while spending time in the room, thus making it most uncomfortable. Totally unacceptable for a 5 star hotel.

I get it, the place is old it’s nostalgic. Nothing special to write home about. If it was me next time I would search for a new, renovated, more up to date hotel. If you are 75yrs old + you may like this for the "history" and that's about it. The hotel is old, and very out dated. For $1k+ a night, you may want to fix the loud room A/C. I say demo and make room for something better. Feels, smells and just is old.

Excellent excellent service! I cannot stress enough how helpful and wonderful the staff was. We were greeted with our doors being opened up by the valet men. Lovely historic hotel. Our room was compact but nice. But the real difference is the service. We ordered breakfast delivered to our room one morning; I highly recommend the experience. The staff was all very nice and accommodating. The concierges Brooks and Lee Ann were engaging and quite helpful.

We absolutely loved this hotel. The location was perfect within walking distance to the Rady Shell where we were seeing John Mullany and the waterfront in general. The hotel itself was clean and absolutely beautiful. That chandelier! Then there was the food! Room service was some of the very best we've ever had. I have never raved over a charcuterie board before! The bed was super comfortable and concierge was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I have nothing negative to say. Will absolutely stay there any time I'm in San Diego.

I can not remember when we had a better experience at a hotel. Everyone we encountered smiled and was friendly and helpful. We mentioned it was our anniversary at check in and they upgraded our room for us. The hotel itself is beautiful and impeccably clean. The room was beautiful and spacious and the bed and bedding were cozy and comfortable. The valet team were so helpful and nice. We had dinner in the lounge in the hotel. Dinner and drinks were fantastic and the vibe was cozy and comfortable. I honestly can't wait to book another stay here!

Room 712 - bathroom smells like a sewer. Seriously disgusting. The heater is the loudest noise you've ever heard so good luck trying to go to sleep with the temperature regulated. You can either have warmth or silence. Ordered room service and they didn't bring me butter with my $8 toast. When I asked them to bring it they said it would take 15 minutes. I can go downstairs and buy butter from CVS and be back in 15 mins. Their lack of staff isn't my problem. Maybe they shouldn't forget basic items if they don't want to come to the room again. The room service bill had an extra item that I neither ordered nor received ($18 bowl of berries) so someone made the mistake of entering something I didn't order and then they didn't even bring it to me. The incompetence is appalling. Final bill was missing the breakfast credit. I had to call back to get it corrected. Phone at front desk rang and rang at 5pm on a Saturday without answer. I called 6 times and let it ring over 20 times before sometime picked up. There's actually more but I can't be assed to detail every but of poor quality, incompetence, and poor customer service for this "Luxury Hotel".

The Best part of the US Grant hotel was the friendly and helpful staff. Everyone treated me as if I was a most special guest. The folks at the concierge desk were very helpful in suggesting local restaurants. Each place gave us a unique dining experience.

The property, the staff, the amenities were superb. We enjoyed our stay. The property is in the gaslamp district. Close to all of the good eateries, not too far from the bay. I would definitely recommend and plan to return.

This hotel is fabulous! The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. Even though we were in middle of the city, we could not hear any street noise. The hotel staff were top notch. We were able to check in early (which was a surprise bonus) and the front desk staff made some suggestions on things to do and not miss while in San Diego. The location was a little north of the chaos of gaslamp district. It is a little calmer but still walking distance. It is also a short walk to Little Italy. We had delicious drinks in the hotel lounge and enjoyed the relaxed vibe.

Gorgeous hotel. Wonderful restaurant for breakfast. Wish we knew there was full coffee in the lobby instead of ordering room service. Love the security feature of the elevator room key. Perfect location if you want to walk around to any event including Petco. This is only a lovely review of the hotel itself. The homeless issue and disgusting smell of pee all over DT SD is a whole other story. Very sad to see another beautiful california city going downhill.

For a 5 star hotel I’ve never seen such a dirty room, and my room was supposed to be one of the nicer suites. Just awful, dust and dirt everywhere, little pieces of food left behind on the floor, a penny in the bathroom floor by the toilet makes me wonder if they actually cleaned at all? Also the AC unit only allows you to use low on the fan. So disgustingly hot in the room at night couldn’t sleep at all. The TV doesn’t even have all the channels, phone didn’t work to call valet or the front desk. Let’s get into the $100 breakfast, awful food. Small portions and they charge around 30% tip fee for them automatically. $65 a night to park your car in the garage 😂😂. The only thing this hotel has nice is the staff, they greeted us very nicely and took good care of us. All the other things need to be worked on indefinitely. Just awful. Never coming back. Was supposed to be a beautiful weekend with my wife and kids for her birthday, I had very high expectations for this 5 star hotel, but was let down HARD!! two thumbs down. 👎

MY, stay at the hotel was fabulous. The check-in was very smooth. The front desk was very polite and my room was very clean with a very comfortable bed. It had excellent amenities and I would recommend staying at this hotel to anybody looking for a very nice hotel with excellent amenities with an amazing staff.
