Elevator was broken and the available room was on the third floor. My wife and I are 77 and this was not tenable. We went to another hotel.

The staff was nice except during my check out it took 10 minutes for someone to show up. I also did not realize there was coffee in the lobby until then. In general this is a no frills hotel. Parking was not good. You had to drive backwards out of the lot because it was too small to turn around in. Airplane noise and noise of garbage trucks was bad. Other places might have the same issue. They need to invest in new windows and doors to block the noise. Tv was roku only. You would need to log into your own steaming service. Maybe in this age that’s not so bad. Nothing on tv anyhow. There was a fridge and microwave. No coffee in room. No breakfast. Towels were old. Overall the place felt like it needed an upgrade. Location was excellent for walking to restaurants and maybe a mile to Midway museum. 10-15 minute walk to sailing ship museum. Internet was good but sometimes the Roku would buffer and freeze. My iPhone worked fine. If this is one of the cheaper priced hotels then it was acceptable. I felt I paid a lot though. If I went to this area again I would pay a little more for better parking. If I had to pay a lot more then I would be willing to stay here again.

Negatives: There was a cockroach in our room. There were bodily fluid/stains on towels. The towels felt like sandpaper, the beds were uncomfortable. There are a lot of homeless in the area. A homeless man was screaming profanities very loudly until around 2am, so it was very difficult to sleep. Airplane noise is loud overhead - this hotel is close to the airport. The hotel is older, and it did not feel clean; especially after the bug situation. We checked out early. The parking lot is tiny and difficult to park in. If anyone has mobility issues, this hotel will be very difficult to get from parking lot to the lobby and to your room. The elevator is tiny and does not fit more than 2 people at a time. It would be difficult to enter the elevator if anyone has a wheelchair or scooter. Avoid if you have mobility issues. Positives: the location is close to many restaurants that are in walking distance. It is within walking distance to the harbor. The room price is budget friendly. The staff who work at the hotel are really nice and very helpful. Excellent staff. I would never stay here again and would not recommend this hotel. To anyone.

There’s a convenient seven11 less than a block away. There’s several restaurants that are a few minutes walk from the property. The property sits in a hill and when you exit there’s a really nice view looking down towards the harbor and Coronado across the harbor. I should warn anyone reading this that it’s very noisy (not the guests) . The planes flight path to the airport runs along side the property and the freeway is less than a block behind the building. There is a parking lot for guest with no charge. It’s first come first serve. Most hotels in the area charge $50 a night or street parking, which is metered til late afternoon. The building is an older wooden building with squeeky floors and a tiny elevator. It smells old. They do a great job at keeping it clean. But keep in mind, it’s very budget friendly. So you get what you pay for. Not necessarily in a bad way. The staff is friendly. There’s a middle aged woman that works the later shift who is just an awesome lady. Great personality and so friendly. Ive had the pleasure of being checked in by her several times in the past.

So i got invited to comic con. So arrived in town early and was able to get an early check in at 2pm. Wonderful. I was parked out front in the 30 minute loading zone on the street and able to unload R2D2 and my items easily. No problems yet. The elevator was tiny, but it worked and served it's purpose. Still good. The door handle for the room only works when pulled up, took a few tries to figure it out. Good. Room seems to be recently updated. New tv microwave and toilet. Nice. Finding a red x on the first towel I used was a bit confusing and then finding one on the sheet too was concerning after looking at other towels with no x on them. The AC worked well but the cover had a big hole.in it. There were a few small holes in the tiles and one big one by the desk that looked like it was attempted to be repaired. The sinknwater pressure was good, the shower not so much. The beds seemed new and were firm. Good. Parking was an interesting experience. The lot is only big enough for maybe 14 cars but after waiting for a while i grabbed a spot on the end of the lot near the street. I left my car there Friday night and Saturday while i was at the con. I came back Saturday and found notification that i was going to be towed. I went to the office and got that canceled as I was supposed to have been given a parking pass when checked in but never was. So luckily it was settled by the great night shift person. It was near the airport but i didn't hear planes in the room.

Didn’t like the fact that the elevator didn’t work and the staff didn’t let you know

The manager let people that were not staying there park their cars and customers were left with no parking spaces. I stayed there becuase I was told parking was available for custo ers. Had to cut my vacation short because of laxk of safe parking for my car.

Parking lot has ~20 spaces, the property has ~40 rooms. The parking lot is one-way, no outlet, meaning you have to back out of it onto a one-way street to get out. If no parking when you get back, nearby private lot is $35 for 10 hours. The elevator is 4’x4’, and the stairs are for emergency use only. Requested a room with one queen bed, got two double beds. Did not hang “do not disturb” sign on door, but room was not cleaned during 2-night stay.

It really need fixing up Paint job,No ice machine,no pop machine. No coffee maker in room.

I’ve never left a bad review to ANY hotel. Probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The towels were like Brillo pads and small. Our pillows were hard and we saw cockroaches one night. Made it hard to sleep the next 2 nights. We had to use the stairs(we were on the 4th floor) more than we could use the elevator. We told the front desk that it wasn’t working and they said ‘oh, I’ll let the maintenance person know it’s not working, again’ We finally just started using the stairs because it would never show up when we called for it. I also found the outside doors still “open” when we where returning from being out. Very unsafe. Not a good place to stay. Spend a few more bucks and get a quality room. This place is horrible!

I would give this place a 3 out of 5 if it wasn't for the roaches. Front desk was unable to move me to a different room or even offer a partial refund. I was just handed a bottle of roach spray. My bed and bathroom will be filled with german roaches on a daily basis despite the use of roach spray.

Only thing good was the close proximity to Little Italy. Parking is very limited and made for small compact cars. There was a couple standing outside day and night not sure if they live there or what. Rooms are outdated. Carpet in hallways have a bad order. Found roaches in bathroom. Have some kind of bug bites on my arm and leg. Tried to tell front desk but no where to be found and decided to just leave and never come back.

It has terrible bleach like smell when you walk in, both the hallway and the room. There was trash on the stairs that hadn’t been taken out yet, and was there for over an hour. I also found 2 roaches in my room.

My room had a cockroah infestation. I asked to have my room sprayed at least but never happened so i had to leavev 2 days early. I was promesed a refund for those days because of the bugs but they never followed up as promised. I called to find out that the promise would not be honored after all. The elevator was also years past due for inspection and very small for those in need of.

The 3rd story hall smelled of piss. However the room was immaculate, the staff, Gigi front desk super helpful and friendly. It was a budget based option that pleased my wallet. The parking is limited, be forewarned.

The room was clean however when it came to sleeping the mattress or bed sheets smelled as if someone had urinated on them and were left to dry.

There's really nothing to enjoy or like about this property. The room was dirty, not filthy, I'll give them that. But the floor was not cleaned, dirty water marks on the bathroom floor, multiple hairs all around, and random unidentified objects behind the make shift microwave and fridge. The facility is ultra-dated. The sink was stopped up - disgusting. The TV - non-operable. Why does the TV not work? Noise - on 100 Smell - good luck. Overall - I would not recommend to my worst enemy. In need of severe attention and love. Use your money else where, really

So noisy, the windows won't even insulate any noise from the airport or street. The elevator is tiny as well.

Hotel is in a great location. Parking lot is very small and difficult to navigate (you have to back out of the lot). The pillows were the worst!!

Noise is one big issue. My room had a thin single-pane window with a frame that doesn’t quite fit. I can hear conversations at the street, all the traffic noises, and planes landing on SAN. Especially, there are lots of souped up cars and bikes going by day and night.

The hotel is on a enter section corner and this isn’t the hotel’s fault but the street and traffic noise was loud for my guess and I. The bathroom could use some updating. Also the room could have used more fluffy new pillows. There were only four pillows for the two beds.

Additionally, some parts of the air conditioning system and the covers appeared to be falling apart. While it is a very close to dining and a good walk to the Midway Museum and the docks, it had very limited parking, and the room was incredibly tiny. It will do for a quick visit, but not for a long term stay.

Staff were very helpful. Great location to good food, interesting things around, and overall nice. Great value for the price, you can hear the highway but it's not overwhelming or disturbing.

Place was not clean, too much noise, Front of my room was two dogs barking very loud all night and drawers didn’t work Called reception and nobody cares. Next morning I complained to the guys at front and he didn’t care I said there is nothing he can do.

Ww had the most horrible experience staying at this hotel - MY LAPTOP WAS STOLEN!! It was during the daytime when we locked our room and went to attend the society for neuroscience conference. We came back in the evening and found that our room was cleaned but the laptop and my room-mate's car key (which were both inside our suitcases) were gone. Along with it my underwear, shirts, winter jackets and socks were also taken. The reception was totally unhelpful - just gave us the local police number. WE FOUND OUT THAT ANOTHER ROOM IN THE SAME FLOOR WAS ALSO ROBBED- Laptop, credit cards and a passport were taken. The owner/manager came by the next day and tried to help us - San Diego police were apathetic - they don't take it seriously unless it is a violent crime apparently. The policeman interrogated the cleaning staff and the manager and while it was clear that the cleaning lady was lying about cleaning the room, the cop said that unless there was a witness to the crime he could not go any further. There is a CCTV camera system, but they do not record!!! The owner of this hotel is a Gujarati Indian and typical of this cheap community of hotel owners, they hire illegals without doing any background checks. I am Indian and I know these cheap gujju guys. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!! The streets around this hotel are littered with homeless people who walk about in the parking lot of the hotel and confront you as you come out of the lobby. The high ratings (8/10) are fake.

The front desk clerk was very rude. We went to our room and he gave us a room with 2 double beds instead of the 1 king bed I reserved. I went downstairs to let him know and he said I had to show him on my phone where it said I booked 1 king bed. I did not take my phone with me so I went back upstairs to get my phone. I showed him my Expedia confirmation confirming I booked one king bed. He didn\'t want to change it at first and said he had "upgraded us". That room was not an upgrade. He finally agreed to change our room and once we got to our new room it was NOT a king bed. He said they do not have king beds. At that point we were frustrated and tired from a very long day so we just took the room. We had dinner reservations with friends in an hour so we had to hurry up and get ready. As we were leaving our room the toilet started leaking. We went back downstairs to let him know and he said he could send the maintenance worker up at moment but we were late so we asked if he could go later when we got back to our room because I was not comfortable letting him in without us there. He said it was either at that moment or he couldn\'t do anything about it. We were late to dinner so we just left. I called Expedia but the agent couldn\'t find another hotel because it was so late and last minute.There was only one room at over $400 for the night. Now on to the rooms. The rooms are very outdated! The towels are very rough and one of the hand towels was torn.Very dirty and smelly.

Great low budget option when you don’t plan to spend a lot of time in your room. GG at the front desk was great. Location is perfect with easy access to litte Italy and short walk to harbor. Parking is limited but free. We will definitely be back for our next Padre game staycation.

The hotel was okay for the price. I was charged my deposit. I called and all they could tell me was that it showed returned from their end but on my end it wasn't pending, it was charged. I travel often and I have never been accidentally charged for a security deposit.

Convenient location near the airport.

It is not clean and not safe. The main and exit doors were always open. I was followed by a homeless walking 2 blocks from the hotel.

Room was very clean. It’s right next to Little Italy (walking distance) with lots of restaurants and cool bars and only about 2 miles away from Gaslamp. They also have free parking. Definitely recommend.

I had a great experience and very convenient location. If you plan to stay in the area of little Italy it is a great spot allowing you to walk to most locations. It was much affordable compared to other locations but I will say you get what you pay for. This is a hotel for just needing a place to sleep and that’s it. Rooms were decent with a faint smell of cigarettes. Was easy to mask with a coupe of sprays of perfume. Not a great spot if you are bringing tons of luggage. The elevator is tiny only fits two people with one big suitcase. Also parking it very limited and may have to find street parking. Over all great for the price and would not mind staying again.

Property is in a fair location. Walking distance to little italy and only a few lights down from the docks and freeway. The parking lot is a bit small and tight but pretty safe over all if you drive your car. The room did smell a bit musky probably due to the windows being closed for such a long time. There was a lack of water pressure for both the toilet and shower during our stay. Overall, its a fair place to stay at if you are not into luxury and only staying for convenience which was my case since i came down for a marathon.

The location can’t be beat with amazing restaurants and the Little Italy farmer’s market just a few minute walk away. The parking is free and you’re about 15 minute drive to a beach or Balboa Park.

Price was great- we had a microwave and fridge - a coffee maker would be a good addition . It might be an older hotel but the beds were comfy- they were painting rooms and staff mentioned new furniture was coming this year. I would stay here again

Great location 5 blocks from the harbor & train station. It’s an older hotel so a bit run down. Very good value for the cost plus free parking.

This is the perfect place for night or two in little italy, San Diego. Free parking and one block above the main strip. Place is older but was very clean. No breakfast or coffee but with all the restaurants and italian cafes within walking distances you wont miss it. Great value for the location. We will go back.

This is a pretty basic hotel that is in a great part of town. If you are looking for a place to crash out and are going to be out and about, this is your place. It is definitely a little run down, but the beds were comfortable. The room had a fridge and microwave. They do provide conditioning shampoo, but it wasn't too great. The location is really why this is such a great value. It is 4 blocks from Waterfront Park, 1.5 miles from the Gaslamp District, 1.5 miles from the airport. There are ton of restaurants and bars in the immediate neighborhood. Definitely a great value.

Location to restaurants in Little Italy is great. Room was plain but clean and the parking is free, which is unbeatable value in downtown San Diego.

I liked the fact that you are able to walk down to local restaurants, coffee bars, etc. easy access to the freeway for quick trips. Only downside to the property was the lack of room service. Other than that, my stay was pretty comfortable.
