We had booked two separate nights over a weekend in early July. The keyless access is terrible. The guesthouse did not send the correct date's confirmation code and we could not access. I emailed and it took them 3 hours to get back to us. They refused to refund the nights' accommodation though I had to book another hotel and was very lucky to get a room at the last minute. I'm all for efficiency but not when you cannot address an issue and nobody answers the emergency number!!!

Easy to find, and there are a couple of car parks very close to choose from (the one directly opposite appears to be at the higher end of the prices for Galway though). Check in was easy, via a screen. The rooms and hotel were clean and well kept, and there's a vending machine upstairs. The rooms looked and felt quite newly furnished/decorated. There was a fan provided, appreciated as the room was very warm (August), there's no air con. Our room faced the front of the building, and although you could open the windows, it was very very noisy from the pub across the street. On Friday the music and karaoke went on until 1am, and was very loud even with the windows shut (which was uncomfortable because it was so warm). On Saturday it was quieter, but the location is still on a main road out of the city, near some nightclubs, so there were rowdy people outside until about 3am. The rooms are clean and small, without anywhere to actually really PUT things except the floor, which was frustrating. It wasn't even possible to put a washbag in the bathroom as there isn't a shelf/space on the sink to do so. There's a coffee machine which took up half the small table space in the room, but no glasses for use for water. There are a few hangers provided for shirts, but nowhere to put your suitcase. The plug sockets are behind the bedside tables, so you have to actually move the table out of the way to use them. The bed was comfy, and the water pressure for the shower is great.

While a nice place to stay, the check-in was very difficult. There is no one nearby to help with check-in and the machine that provides you with a key was broken. At first, it didn't take the Expedia confirmation number. Then, when we got it to work by entering my name, the machine completely blacked out and shut down. It wouldn't turn back on. I called someone who was eventually able to get my key card, but as I said there was no one on the property who could help. It was quite frustrating.

This was perfect for our 2-night stay in Galway! Instructions were clear and we had no problems with the self-check-in kiosk; room was clean and well prepared for our visit. We chose a double bed plus twin bed room to have extra space (and in case one of us had a hard time sleeping after our long travels). We appreciated being within walking distance of the Latin Quarter, Spanish Arch, and Galway Cathedral. We always found parking in the city lot across the street. Would definitely stay here again!

The self checkin process was terrible. They sent me two different door codes to get inside. Then the computer wouldn't take my Expedia itinerary number to check me in. I tired my number and name multiple times and it finally went through. The desk troubleshooting number on the wall next to the self check in no one answered. The walls are so thin I could hear the neighbors drinking their coffee. Safe and convenient but check in and privacy could use work.

We were staying 5 nights to be close to hospital to visit a family member. Location was great for centre and hospital. Rooms very small but very clean and modern. As we were not here to party the fact there was full sky stream tv service was a welcome surprise. Only negative would be the room was not cleaned the full 5 days of our stay and we had to request replacement towels otherwise these would not have been rrplaced. If they got that right would ha e given fulll 5 starts.

Rooms are small which is expected. Stayed 3 nights, never made the beds even once. Never refilled the coffee pods or cleaned the coffee cups. No shelf in shower to put toiletries. No luggage rack.

Wir waren für 2 Nächte im Abbeygate Townhouse. Die Lage ist wirklich super, innerhalb von 5 Minuten ist man in der Stadt. Leider hatten wir dreckige Handtücher und auch in dieser Zeit keinen Roomservice. Das Bistro drunter ist gut, allerdings hört man die Musik in der ersten Etage und auch die Zimmertüren wackeln, wenn die Nachbarn ihre Türen zu schnell schließen. Alles in allem würden wir nicht wieder dort hingehen. Für uns war die Übernachtung zu teuer, hier zahlt man wirklich nur Lage.

Very happy with our stay in Abbeygate Townhouse. The rooms were spotless and fresh. In an excellent location we were only a 5-7 min walk from eyre square. Although this hotel is self check in it is very easy to carry out and when there was a problem with the key card machine there was a lovely man there within 10 minutes who helped us and was very friendly and professional. The beds were like a cloud of air to sleep in. All together a wonderful stay and I would 100% recommend to others. We will definitely be back.

Loved the easy check-in! Accommodations were clean & comfortable. The decor of the place was modern and cool. Location could not be better. Within walking distance of many pubs, restaurants and sights. Only downside was lack of parking. Had to park across the bridge at the church parking lot and carry our bags a bit of a distance. But I know that’s a challenge in Galway. Everything else was great!

Where do I start? I emailed the property (through Hotels.com and at info@agtownhouse.ie) asking if I could drop my luggage or check in at 2pm (check in was specified at 3pm). I never got a reply. I checked in after 3pm, got my keycard and left my luggage in the room. I checked the room and there was mold in the shower, hairs on the floor, and in the nespresso machine, mug rings on the night table, and the shower leaking into the bathroom floor. I had to use the mat to mop up the water and avoid a mess on the floor. The next day I left the room thinking that since this is a hotel, my room would be cleaned, the bed made, trash would be removed - all the proper housekeeping from a hotel. But no, I returned later and found the room unmade. I sent a WhatsApp message and left a voice message asking for clean towels, clean mugs. Their reply was that per their policy (nowhere described) they do not service the rooms on reservations of 3 days or more unless requested. Since it was after ours, nothing could be done at the time. They said they would make sure the room was serviced the next day and I would get the required items. Next day I sent a reminder message for towels, mat, mugs, glass, mold in the shower. I returned to the room later that afternoon to find the items I requested, BUT the bed unmade. I contacted them and was told as per their policy they do what guests request and nothing more! L'hôtel est bien situé, près de la gare de train et de bus a pied. La chambre est belle et neuve, mais une odeur sortait de la salle de bain, c'est malheureux parce que le reste était bien. Pas d'air climatisé, une chance que la fenêtre ouvrait.

Air conditioner was not install, just a portable unit that didn’t vent to the outside. Shower temperature control was very difficult to operate. Most guest would assume it was broken. Also, street facing side was very loud. Earplugs were in the room whe. We arrived.

The room was small but well equipped and the bed was comfortable. There was some noise from inside and outside the building but they provided earplugs so it was okay. The only negative point was the shower, there was only very hot water coming out, regardless of the temperature selection.

Having read some reviews I was hesitant to stay here. I usually look at the worst reviews and disregard most of them. I really do not like to give bad reviews having some properties of my own. Unfortunately I cannot give this place a 5/5. Pros: Clean ,central position and comfortable mattress. Rooms were more than adequate in size. Cons: Pillows were the worst I have come across. Another guest described them as logs and I do have to agree that this is 100% accurate. The room was so hot it made it sleeping impossible. Even with the window wide open , heating off and the fan going the minimum temp was 23 degrees. More than 2 coat hangers needed to travellers trying to dry washing

We had a “snug” room. No chairs. Very small. Would not recommend for two people. No service unless you stay longer than three days, and we stayed for three. I guess fine for a certain sort of traveler who has no real baggage. All automated, so no lobby or people, just a kiosk to type your info and get a key card. Couldn’t get a 2nd one for my partner.

The shower water was scalding. It was impossible to take a shower. There was no parking included in the stay. Parking across the street was an additional 20 pounds for the day. The person above us- room 102 had heavy feet. The walking started at 12pm and went on. Perhaps they could walk lighter if ppl are below. The location was great.

The location was fantastic, close to all of the shopping, eating and sightseeing, but also close enough to walk to the grocery store. The room is VERY tight quarters so being able to getting clothes in & out of suitcases/getting ready to go out or get into bed was a little rough.

This was a clean, small, but efficient hotel. It is well located, we could walk to all we wanted to explore. The team, especially Liam, was very quick to respond to email communication, and assisted us with an early check in. We were even treated to an upgrade in room that became available during our stay. I'd highly recommend this hotel!!!
This was a clean, small, but efficient hotel. It is well located, we could walk to all we wanted to explore. The team, especially Liam, was very quick to respond to email communication, and assisted us with an early check in. We were even treated to an upgrade in room that became available during our stay. I'd highly recommend this hotel!!!

Served its purpose for a quick overnight stay. Check-in was a little frustrating as we arrived early and there was no staff on-site to hold our bags- would have been helpful as international travellers with suitcases. We received a code to enter the building and it was incorrect. We had to rely on other guests randomly entering/exiting until we received the correct code hours later. Our room had a bizarre odour that was ?fishy. Around 11pm guests in the surrounding rooms could be heard yelling through the walls. Like I said, it was just okay.

The booking number from Expedia didn’t work. We had to call locally and were given booking numbers not anything like we’d received from Expedia. Check in is at a kiosk requiring the booking number or full name on Expedia, the name didn’t work either. The rooms were great, just a little warm.

Very happy with our stay in Abbeygate Townhouse. The rooms were spotless and fresh. In an excellent location we were only a 5-7 min walk from eyre square. Although this hotel is self check in it is very easy to carry out and when there was a problem with the key card machine there was a lovely man there within 10 minutes who helped us and was very friendly and professional. The beds were like a cloud of air to sleep in. All together a wonderful stay and I would 100% recommend to others. We will definitely be back.

While a nice place to stay, the check-in was very difficult. There is no one nearby to help with check-in and the machine that provides you with a key was broken. At first, it didn't take the Expedia confirmation number. Then, when we got it to work by entering my name, the machine completely blacked out and shut down. It wouldn't turn back on. I called someone who was eventually able to get my key card, but as I said there was no one on the property who could help. It was quite frustrating.

Easy to find, and there are a couple of car parks very close to choose from (the one directly opposite appears to be at the higher end of the prices for Galway though). Check in was easy, via a screen. The rooms and hotel were clean and well kept, and there's a vending machine upstairs. The rooms looked and felt quite newly furnished/decorated. There was a fan provided, appreciated as the room was very warm (August), there's no air con. Our room faced the front of the building, and although you could open the windows, it was very very noisy from the pub across the street. On Friday the music and karaoke went on until 1am, and was very loud even with the windows shut (which was uncomfortable because it was so warm). On Saturday it was quieter, but the location is still on a main road out of the city, near some nightclubs, so there were rowdy people outside until about 3am. The rooms are clean and small, without anywhere to actually really PUT things except the floor, which was frustrating. It wasn't even possible to put a washbag in the bathroom as there isn't a shelf/space on the sink to do so. There's a coffee machine which took up half the small table space in the room, but no glasses for use for water. There are a few hangers provided for shirts, but nowhere to put your suitcase. The plug sockets are behind the bedside tables, so you have to actually move the table out of the way to use them. The bed was comfy, and the water pressure for the shower is great.

The hotel is very conveniently located and perfectly clean. The room I had unfortunately overlooked Newtownsmith Rd, which made it very noisy because of the bar across the road. Since the weather was warm, it was a battle between getting fresh air with the windows open and hearing the rowdy bar noise, or muffled noise and no air. The set up in the bathroom was challenging, with no hooks/rails for towels, or shelves/surfaces to put toiletries in the bathroom itself. This combined with the noise would deter me from a longer stay. But if you're a sound sleeper and looking for somewhere nice, clean, and convenient - this is a great place. Good value overall.

This was perfect for our 2-night stay in Galway! Instructions were clear and we had no problems with the self-check-in kiosk; room was clean and well prepared for our visit. We chose a double bed plus twin bed room to have extra space (and in case one of us had a hard time sleeping after our long travels). We appreciated being within walking distance of the Latin Quarter, Spanish Arch, and Galway Cathedral. We always found parking in the city lot across the street. Would definitely stay here again!

Loved the easy check-in! Accommodations were clean & comfortable. The decor of the place was modern and cool. Location could not be better. Within walking distance of many pubs, restaurants and sights. Only downside was lack of parking. Had to park across the bridge at the church parking lot and carry our bags a bit of a distance. But I know that’s a challenge in Galway. Everything else was great!

Concept du "Snug Hotel" très impersonnel, réception self-service. C\'est étrange de recevoir un message "Do not be afraid!" puis les consignes sur un écran pour s\'inscrire et pouvoir entrer dans sa chambre. Tout est dimensionné au centimètre près. Un plus, Netflix gratuit. Très bien situé pour les pubs dans le Latin Quarter de Galway. Parking et circulation sont difficiles à Galway. Nous avons aimé the Café Hungry Eyes, la porte à coté.

The room was cute and clean with a coffee maker and tv. We didn't see any staff while we were there and the check in is self check in but it all went smoothly. The area around is a bit quiet but is very close to the main areas so you just need to walk a minute or two to find something!

We had a wonderful stay. The self check in was so easy. The room was comfortable and spacious enough for three adults. Handicap friendly with convenient parking across the street. Very close to the main shops, restaurants and pubs. The fan was nice and we comfortably slept with the windows open. Cafe downstairs was ok. Convenient but not necessarily great breakfast. I would recommend this location.

The location was good, but I agree with other reviews about the horrible smell. There is a moldy smell in the main room and a different sewage smell in the bathroom. You hold your breath every time you use the bathroom and it gave some of our guests nausea. Hopefully they fix this issue, but until then, I would not go back.

Overall rating of our stay is a 1 out of 10. On night 2, the sky tv account kicked us out so we couldn’t drown out the 100 empty kegs being thrown around, the street cleaners, or the seagulls in the morning. We reached out for 2 days to the Management Team but didn’t hear anything back. We had a horrible nights sleep. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling and it smelt like sewage our entire stay. We had to keep the bathroom door shut and keep the fan on the entire time. The house keeping that was provided was mediocre. Not all of our garage was taken out and our bed wasn’t made. The linens were scratchy and the pillows were uncomfortable. The price we paid for our stay doesn’t reflect the services included. We won’t be recommending this place to our friends and family.
