Extended Stay America Suites - Orange County - Lake Forest

The hotel experienced an unexpected power outage during my entire stay. I couldn’t power my phone or my laptop and I was in town specifically for telework which obviously ran me into trouble with my job because I was forced to call out due to the power being out all day in the hotel. I missed out on earning my work wages for the whole day. I was furious. I couldn’t watch tv or use the telephone. I couldn’t use the alarm clock, coffee maker, fridge, lamps, AC, nor any appliances which need power to work inside my room. I had to walk around my room in the dark for my entire stay there. I was forced to take a shower in the dark with no lights on. I could’ve seriously hurt myself having to use the bathroom and shower without any lights to see what I’m doing or stepping on. I could’ve slipped and fell and been in serious pain. Everybody had to use the emergency stairs to go in and out of the hotel; I had to hear a woman arguing with a hotel staff member right next to my room, outside in the hotel’s hallway, because she was handicapped and could not use the staircases. When I asked the hotel Manager for a refund for my stay, he told me to take it up with Edison, the hotel’s power network provider, because he would not compensate the hotel guests for the HUGE inconvenience of the power going off throughout the entire hotel for the entire day. Unbelievable. I will NEVER stay here again.

Room had no toilet paper, no privacy signage for the door and nothing in the kitchen. When I went to ask for toilet paper I was handed a roll and told there was no privacy signage and I shouldn’t worry because housekeeping wouldn’t come by. I then went down and asked for an ice bucket and the location of the ice machine. They said there was no ice machine. I asked for ice cube trays. They said they didn’t have any. I asked if I could get a coffee maker or if they had coffee in the morning. They said they made coffee each day which was available from 6-9. There was only coffee one day between 6 and 6:15 when I left for work each day. Soi had to buy coffee and ice each day for work. Every day there was piles of sheets, bags of garbage and stacks of dirty plates in the hall to add to the ambiance. I also noticed the shower had a crack in the floor which appeared to be draining water (presumably into the ceiling or wall below me). I informed the front desk there was a hole in the shower and asked if they wanted to switch me to another room since I could see water seeping out. They said they made a note of it and maintenance would look after I left. The sheets were also super scratchy and blankets extremely thin. On the positive side, the room was clean but lacked the expected basics which they were always out of. So not a very pleasant stay overall.

Area was mostly quiet. Parking was available. Signage was pretty clear. The room was mostly clean, could use some repair, curtain was falling apart. Basic room and bed was not the most comfortable. Ok place to crash for the night.

The elevator and the TV didn't work.

The room has a nasty smell coming from the fridge. The bathroom smelled liked dirty laundry and on top of that there will be a water outage for 3 hours the next day from 9 am. We are visitng for a wedding and that was the time we have to get ready. Having two kids with me that is going to be hard having no water! We asked to get transferred to a different room but there was no availability. Had to cancel the entire booking and had to look for a different hotel on a Memorial Day weekend which was a hassle

The room was clean, and the parking was convenient.

We have stayed at Extended stays before and this was by far the worst. the hotel was just not clean and there were a lot of people just hanging around outside. the doors to the side were always ajar with rocks. seemed like anyone could enter.

Girl at front desk was great,working by herself with a flooded first floor and elevator not working in a three story hotel.Needs updating especially new carpet

It was good other than the trash outside the side entrance where I actually slipped and fell on my left knee causing swelling and pain . I informed the staff right after the incident as to what had happened and requested that the area be cleaned. The following morning the area was still stacked with trash at that time I requested the staff to take a photo with me so that our photos were taken at the same time of the area where I slipped a fell. The staff was not very compliant upon my request but, eventually did take a photo with me to show what I slipped on walking in from the parking lot.

The elevator was out of order... They told me before I paid at least. The extra walking wasn't bad until I got to my room on 3rd floor (room 304) with a hot pizza and I had to go back to the desk to have my keycard reprogrammed... Luckily this only happened once in my 2 night stay. I travel a lot and assumed check out time was noon... But of course I got the dreaded hotel staff knock at 1115... Another thing that sucked was the shower head water would only get luke warm with barely any pressure... Other tenants staying were more vocal and trashy with complaints than I was...

Very bad condition. Looks very dirty

The property was very run down and filthy. Looks nothing like the photos. Garbage bags outside people’s rooms. Floors were filthy and the TV would not work. Bad smells everywhere to be honest it was very uncomfortable and we checked out the very next morning Would have checked out immediately but was told by front desk that nobody would be there to refund me until the next morning so we bit the bullet and stayed one night. Never ever again. Crazy thing is that the hotels location in Foothill Ranch is very safe and nice area so was very surprised at the conditions etc

I didn't stay. Getting a refund. Room was dirty. Smell was terrible.

Checked in got wrong room. Saw baby roaches told me i couldnt move. Later that night found bug roaches on celling. Demand to get different room. Finally got a room and it was right above it. That one was infeasted too. 3rd time was a charm. Got room no bugs but very dirty. Had to buy my own cleaning supplies broom dustpan and mop. Stayed here alot before but now going down hill termendsly and staff are rude. There were roaches also outside front door and in lobby vc

The room was really gross

Filthy room, in disrepair, stinky! Trash and a shoe under the bed, toilet seat coming apart, fridge is filthy, they advertised you can get dishes and then they didn’t have any available. Wasted for clean sheets and got yellow stained sheets. When I asked for the advertised amenities and services they said they just don’t have any good maintenance person to fix things. There was no accountability and no effort to make anything right or clean. The worst experience I have ever had in a hotel.

My experience with this hotel was poor at best, the room was dirty as my pictures show, the bath spicket was filthy, the fridge was rusty, the stove was worse, at the head of the bed you could see an electrical plug with no cover and something half plugged in it was touching the bed as my pics show, could have caused a fire. There was a small blood stain on the white sheet. The room had a smell (stale) om in my 60s and have been in alot of hotels in my life this was the worst room i ever booked. Im very disappointed. I got bed bug bites all over me staying here. Worst hotel experience. I filed a complaint on their website. No response. Nothing.

Room was dirty, sheets stained, bathtub stained with dirt. Night time front desk was not helpful and couldn’t do anything for us because hotel was fully booked. Daytime manager refused a refund because we stayed the night even though we had no choice but to stay the night as a refund was not an option by the night time staff. did not even shower because the tub was gross.

The hotel is so dirty. Sink and tub wouldn’t drain, there were visible stains everywhere and someone got a fresh haircut and there was hair in the pillow, tub and sink. Never staying again

Very noisy on the second floor, listened to people above us walking and running. They took a half hour shower from 0015 - 0045 hours. Staff was very friendly.

No amenities provided. Walked into room and all cabinet doors were open, including the refrigerator door. The refrigerator did not work. No hair dryer. I had to ask for shampoo. No coffee maker. On the plus side, it felt like a safe area and it was quiet.

For the price, the room was small, the tub cracked on the outside, the walls thin so you could hear a lot, and the bathroom light only worked with a very loud fan,.so no way to be quiet if going in at night. Everything showing wear and not a lot of money going back into keeping things clean and nice. There was an unwashed dried spot next to the bed on the floor. Should he a cheaper room for the quality and the tiny breakfast offerings.

Needs an upgrade. The beds were so squeaky when you moved at night it would wake you up. The “kitchen” was not equipped with any cooking appliances. I had to go to the front desk to ask for a pan. The stove in the room only the small burner worked. One night I cooked chicken for over 2 hours and it still wasn’t done.. price was the only thing good but with all the issues it was still too much.

Room was clean. Mattress was well past it's day so much that every coil was felt. Room door didn't secure properly, and the bathroom light didn't turn off. Would not stay here again.

The front desk was a good experience. The room was fine and clean. My only gripe was that the air conditioner showed 60 degrees but never got cool. I was told to turn the unit off and then back on, but that didn't work. Even with the windows open, only a bit because they had blocks on them, the room was still very warm and uncomfortable..

I was a great location poor parking, and a large dog that constantly pacing above us ( sounded like earthquakes) Suggest that they put animals on the first floor not the 3rd.

I had reservations for one night stay. Was in town for an all day volleyball tournament. Hotel check in policy was from 3pm to midnight. We arrived at 9:30 pm. No one was at the front desk to check is in. Waited in lobby for 15-20 minutes still no one showed up. Had to leave an find another place to stay. Also felt unsafe as there was a woman roaming around and talking to herself loudly. Also very strong smell is disinfectant in the air. Just overall terrible experience after a long day of tournaments, just wanted to go to sleep but that wasn’t going to happen at the Extended Stay in Lake Forest CA. Beware!!

After booking through Expedia, I arrived to find the front doors locked. When the desk clerk finally opened them he informed me that they had overbooked their rooms and, despite having a reservation, there were no rooms available.

Staff was great considering Expedia did not send over my reservation despite getting notifications that it was ready for checkin. After a long drive to find out I was not in their system was not what I wanted to hear. They were professional and apologized for 1 hour check in process. I understood it was beyond their control.

There was no king room available as we booked and when the clerk went to change us to a queen room, suddenly he was unable to do anything to get us checked in. We had to scramble and pay more than double the cost to stay at another hotel. This hotel is awful, staff was unaccommodating, unhelpful and showed zero remorse for the situation. It seems they wanted us to leave because they had a waitlist for the night and could charge much more from the discounted rate we received for booking early. Awful service. If I could give zero stars I would.

I had to wait 20 minutes for front desk customer service check in horrible never staying there again

My 2-month-old granddaughter and daughter-in-law were locked out of the hotel for 12 hours because the front desk person decided to sleep or leave. They lock the front doors and the key for the front door was not allowing people access to the hotel. We called and had customer service call the front desk and there was no answer. This is absolutely unacceptable and I need a refund.

Check in is at 3pm and NO earlier. We arrived at 2:05pm and asked if we could check in early, we were told no and went to get something to eat. Came back at 2:48pm and was again turned away and told come back in 12 minutes. Yes, 12 minutes. Sat in my car, came back in at 3:02 pm and was finally able to check in. After getting the key, our luggage and finding our room on the second floor. The hallway smelled of cigarette smoke, even though no smoking signs posted everywhere. Found our room and opened the door only to find trash everywhere, multiple beer bottles spread throughout the room and dirty clothes laying on the door, clearly this room was still occupied. Immediately closed the door and headed back to the front desk. Informed the desk clerk what I just saw and no apology was given. Was handed a new key, now on the 3rd floor. Right out of the elevator, patched drywall, not painted to match the red on the walls. Piles of swept dirt and trash in the corner of hallway. Hallway carpet stained in multiple areas. Room was run down, old broken furniture, peeling counter tops and dirty fridge. The sheets and pillowcases were stained. I ended up going to Costco and buying pillows and a blanket to use on the bed. I'm not a picky person and never leave reviews but this place was one surprise after another. DO NOT RECOMMEND

It's important to remember that this is a long-term stay hotel, so you might encounter guests who call this place home for a time—not all are in difficult situations. Life can throw unexpected challenges our way, but it's comforting to know places like this exist in our hometown, offering affordable stays that can be a lifeline during tough times (especially considering the typical prices in Orange County). A heartfelt shoutout to Alex, Alvin, and the dedicated young man who occasionally handles both front desk duties and maintenance, And to the incredible housekeeping team—your hard work and professionalism does not go unnoticed!

The people that work there are amazing. I always look forward to being greeted by Alan and the other staff members. The beds are so comfortable and it really is a great overall value for the money. It’s in a very safe neighborhood and it is the one hotel that I return to time after time

Don’t even provide shampoo/conditioner. The free breakfast offered was just coffee, dry oatmeal, and small package of muffin.

Quite area and hotel. Not the cleanest or the best but it is in a safe area and gets you what you need. No continental breakfast, just coffee and a granola bar.

We will never stay there again or for that matter any Extended Stay hotel. The plumbing leaked, the shower was a little more than a drizzle, the bathroom sink didn’t drain, no cup in the bathroom, and the furniture was ready for the dumpster (Thrift Stores would not even take it!). The free breakfast consisted of packets of instant oatmeal, mini packaged muffins, regular coffee, hot water, packets of hot cocoa and tea bags. When I asked for water the desk help made it seem like they were doing us a huge favor by getting one bottle from the “back”. There is more, but you get the picture…not a place for a relaxing stay.
