Upon arrival at the property, I found that the internet and phone lines were down. The pool was also green and out of service. There was trash overflowing from the trash cans onto the ground. After learning about all the issues the hotel was having, including the unavailability of Wi-Fi and the pool, this was not the place to stay. Additionally, nowhere in our booking did it mention these would be unavailable. I canceled the room.

Very clean and comfortable. Had our dog with us and there were no problems, very welcoming and kind. This is our second stay here on our way to NC and where we will stay every time!

Quiet property, just off the expressway, serves as an extended stay for railroad (Norfolk Southern) work crew. One of two, elevators not working.

Check in was a breeze, however our room was stuffy and smelled like mildew/ musty. I had mildew/ mold on my pillow. Went to the front desk to complain, got two replacement pillows; one of the replacement pillows had it on there as well. The pool was down, which was one of the perks we were wanting when we booked this establishment. Bathtub was dinghy, hairs everywhere, and just an all around terrible stay. We have a child that is asthmatic and an adult with allergies, we were comped for one night. Another individual not with our party, complained to us about his room and having mold/ mildew on two of his pillows as well. Honestly wouldn’t recommend

Property was nice, plenty of parking, quiet area, and close to everything. Staff were friendly. I would stay here again.

TV did not have all the local network channels and when you select CNN it took you to Fox News ha ha. All the ice machines were broken. There was no ice in the building.

Outside door never fully closed, there was no ice machine on 2nd floor. Only one small trash can in room in bathroom n employee closet on second floor was always opened

My friend and I came in town for the Katt Williams concert. The room we go was supposedly a ‘renovated’ room. No way! There was no hot water in the hotel, the phone didn’t work, full trash cans all over the property. Not a really great representation of this brand at all. Oh gosh, the elevators are ‘Final Destination’ scary. Will say this, the young girl that worked the night of Feb 24-she mentioned she gets off at 11pm, she was really great. She was always professional with a sense of urgency when we complained about the hot water issue.

Hotel is currently undergoing major renovation. Large areas of parking being used by equipment and supplies. Guest reception is set up on a picnic table. There were no hangers or handsoap in the room. The ice makers and vending machines have not been installed yet. None of the local channels on TV were operational (CBS, NBC, ABC). There were NO restaurants close by, only fast food type establishments (and those were over a mile away). Overall this place has potential, but IMO, not yet ready to host guests due to the undergoing renovations.

Room not cleaned while we stayed there and no ice machine in building wired

First visit to AL. May be an AL thing but mold on the ceiling throughout the room and in shower/tub. Shelf in tub loose. Shower gel empty even though it holds like 100 showers worth. So when was it last checked? Pee on the lower toilet. Seat would stay up so guys had to use with it down. Not what I expect fron HI express.

The room had a musty order when we walked in. The bathroom was not so clean. Poor tub and broken soap holder. They should do a better job with cleanliness and maintenance for the price we paid for a one night stay

I typically don’t leave reviews, but this stay was beyond unacceptable. From the moment we checked in, it was clear the hotel does not prioritize cleanliness or guest experience. There were cobwebs throughout the room, crumbs left on the nightstand, and the floors looked like they hadn’t seen a vacuum in weeks. The pillows were stained, the bathroom was small and poorly maintained, and to top it off, the entire room had a bad odor. We had issues with room keys not working, which forced us to check in to two different rooms — both equally disappointing. The breakfast area wasn’t any better — flies everywhere, dirty eating sections, and the pancake machine was broken. The final straw was the power outage overnight. The hotel had no backup generators, leaving us without power, lights, or air for hours. Completely unacceptable, especially when paying for a safe and comfortable stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was dirty, disorganized, and poorly managed. Spend your money elsewhere. Videos can be provided

Though the customer service was nice, the condition of the rooms were terrible. The carpet was dirty, the A/C made a whistling noise, and dirty water back up into the tub after taking a shower (see pic). When we inquired about vacuuming, one of the housekeeper stated they didn’t have a working vacuum and complained she had requested one several times without a response. Disappointed and won’t be staying here again. The halls had a weird, wet, musky smell.

The property was very outdated, and almost everything was broken. The ice machine wasn’t working, the bathroom shower was leaking and caused wet floors, and the AC didn’t cool the room properly. The room floor was stained and smelled like urine—smh. The highlight of the hotel was definitely the staff, especially the person who checked me in—they were kind and professional. However, I paid for a room with two beds, and at the last minute, they told me they had to switch me to a different room because the one I booked wasn’t available. Very disappointing overall.

We walked into our room with our toddler. Sat our stuff down. Looked in the fridge there were roaches. Looked at the wall roaches were crawling up the wall. Immediately left our room amd left, the person at the front desk apologized and understood whybwe cant stay. She said unfortunately management knows the roach problem and it continues. yuck.

The room was not clean at all. There was mildew on the ceiling. There was no regular coffee. Only decaf and tea.

The main problem with this property was cleanliness. The floors in the elevators and hallways were sticky and in need of mopping. One of the elevators was out of order. The hallways needed to be vacuumed. The trash cans on my floor were full. The top was stopped up and wouldn’t drain properly. The sink and toilet were not clean. The toilet had hair and dirt on the base and the frame around the mirror had surface dirt along with the tub. I will not book at this hotel again.

Staff is fine, polite, but keys didn't work, our ground floor room was stinky, sticky stuff on the floor, stains on the carpet, & so much dust/crud in the ac vents, we were nervous to breath the air. Too bad. Not up to HI Express standards we know well.

Overall pretty good staying Wi-Fi did not work the entire time, So I incurred Mobile data charges without knowing it, I will upgrade my review if this is addressed properly

Our stay was very good the only issue we had was the tv didn’t work as it should the picture kept going out once we got the picture in the sound would go out. This went on all night until we decided to cut it off

The air conditioner had been left off in the room in August. Upon our arrival, it was extremely humid and very warm. The floors and walls had condensation on them, and even the sheets felt wet. It was like the carpet had just been cleaned and the room left closed up sopping wet.

They put us in the incorrect room, king room instead of two queen bed rooms, didn’t know until I went into the room. Didn’t try to change the room because it was late and we fit. There was no TV remote or coffee maker in the room. In the bathroom only one mirror light worked. The floor/carpet felt damp. It was in a nice off path type of place, the people were nice but busy.

Nice up to date hotel right off the highway. Very clean and quiet.

The location is ok, it’s not too far from Downtown or the highway. They are doing construction on the building so parking was limited and it was very noisy that morning. When we checked in they gave us a room that was not ready, then gave us another room. It was not the cleanest. The walls are paper thin, I heard every door slam throughout the night. I also killed a roach in the bathroom. It was not the best experience, but was ok for a last minute booking.

Room was very clean, but the premises could have used more attention in public areas (like the elevator that had food spills for the whole stay. Breakfast was so-so, cheap carb stuff but reasonable eggs/meat options also. Air conditioning afforded minimal control-- I'd worry about being there in very hot weather. Desk clerk was very pleasant and she went out of her way to help me get to the airport and find a local bakery.

The room was very spacious

The service was not responsive when I tried to call ahead of time about a question I had about the servility deposit before I check in. The moment I checked in, it was just complete silence. It seemed as if the person at the front desk was not focused on the main task to check me in as if they continued on having a side conversation with their coworker. I understand I was told I couldn’t check in until the recommended check in time, but by the time, I checked into my room, the room was cracked open, meaning the room must of been finished cleaning. The moment I walked in, the moment I sat my daughter down, not one, but both beds seemed to be as off they were both damped or covered in sweat. Onto my stay, since it was a two day stay, with three people, I would think I should be provided three towels. I called room service, and they said they would have someone bring towels upstairs. We never received them when I called twice throughout the day. When I spotted a worker on the floor that I thought knocked on my door, I asked if she was providing them towels. She said I would have to wait until housekeeping passes by. the housekeeping cart was near my room, but I never saw the housekeeper notified me with our towels . The only thing I liked throughout our stay was breakfast. The employees that run the breakfast area understood hospitality. I was able to enjoy speaking to the staff there, and was able to be offered a togo bag to pack some milk provided @ the breakfast area.

When I arrived to check in they told me that they gave my room away as they had a basketball team come in which left me stranded with no place to stay in a place I new nothing about I would not recommend using them ever

I really had higher hopes of this place from the photos online, when we booked through experian it made it seem like the charge had already happened, because the receipt literally said paid..... Upon arrival we were double charged(after being under the the thought it had come out when booked) we has about 400 set aside to be abke to enjoy our weekend in Birmingham, we ended up having zero funds to do anything (including anybfood for the stay) we checked out this morning. The double charge has still not been refunded. Really really upset and disappointed

Key card didn’t work for room 219 Key card didn’t work for room 326 Lady & Gentleman at the front desk were nice for working with me to put me in room 112 with a key card that worked.

Hotel was overbooked. They blamed it on Expedia. No room available although I paid for and reserved a room through Expedia.

Management terrible. Double charged for the stay after paying for the trip in full through Expedia. Left numerous message with staff for manager with no call back. Sent numerous emails to the manager with no response. Escalated it to the Holiday Inn corporate office which further investigated the error & assured us a credit would be issued within a week. 5 weeks later, still no credit! Disappointing would be an understatement for a national chain hotel to not correct their mistake!

Safe and really easy to check in

Upcharged us after downgrading our room and giving out our reservation because we didn’t get into town until later in the evening. Refused to refund us for the difference after downgrading our room.

Staff is very friendly. Hotel is clean and well-maintained, although the halls do show a few years of wear. Breakfast is not a huge spread, but does cover the basics. The location is roughly a 10 minute drive from downtown. Overall, this hotel is a cost-effective option for visitors with a car who do not want to overpay for a downtown location.

We had a nice stay and the room was great. The breakfast was disappointing though. The juice machine was out and the oatmeal machine was broken. The 'hot' breakfast was lukewarm at best.

The hotel was clean and the staff was nice. The beds were comfortable and the room had enough space for our overnight stay. I was extremely disappointed with the breakfast, though. The sausages were dried and burnt, the eggs weren't replenished either time I went down there. We ended up getting breakfast from Waffle House. That was my only complaint.

Good breakfast, excellent orange juice. Grateful for allowing our big group to utilize the dining area for us to eat our home cooked meals for dinner.

Definitely not walkable, but very nice location up on a hill. Everything was fine except for the breakfast service. Are two of the 3 mornings I was there. Pancake maker was out of service, scrambled eggs were gone both mornings and by the time they replenished them I was done eating. First day the sausage gravy was also gone, and the sausages were barely warm. But other than breakfast, it was a good place to stay.

The property was clean and well maintained. We found the staff to be friendly and very accommodating. Excellent breakfast!

10/10 Stay!!! Staff was the sweetest!! Easy check in! One of the cleanest Hotels I’ve been too!! Nice, spacious, and very clean rooms/beds! Breakfast was delightful!! So much to choose from! Would absolutely recommend this location!
