Gorgeous building and interior, very friendly and professional staff. A lovely bar and seating/dining area. The bedroom was very comfortable and roomy with a lovely view looking onto the chimney pots and the garden area. Excellent bath and shower and very good breakfast.

Just an absolutely incredible experience hotel. My partner and I stayed in a jacuzzi suite and it was mind-blowingly gorgeous. Staff was truly incredible, personable, professional, absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough great things about this experience.

This is a charming hotel with about a 15 minute walk to Princes Street. The room was lovely, the breakfast delicious, and the staff friendly. The only word of warning - there is no elevator so be aware before you book. We had to climb 64 stairs to get to our room, which could be challenging after a full day of sightseeing.

Before booking, know there isn't a lift or AC in the rooms. Staff will provide a fan for air flow if requested and help with luggage as well. But those facts aren't made known up front. Staff was friendly. The room was cozy, but the bathroom was very small. I'm 6'3" and generlaly average build, and still had trouble being comforatable just moving around. It wasn't possible to sit on the toilet with the placement of it in proximity to the sink. As well, there wasn't a shower wall or curtain so the bathroom was extremely wet after taking a shower. Again, I'm of average size (6'3/195 lbs) and when I would move around in the shower my arms would bump the control and accidentally adjust the water to then have it go ice cold or scalding hot. I had to be very careful about how I would turn in the shower. Overall, it was fine - but it would be near impossible of a large build to physically fit in the bathroom.

Staff lovely, breakfast gorgeous. Highly recommended if you want a quiet boutique hotel. Dont expect a spa or a gym or anything else you dont need. But do expect a great stay.

LOVE this place in Edinburgh! Beautiful, heritage rooms, stunning neighborhood with walking distance to upper market area Stockbridge, and less than 15mins to the main tourist area as well! Parking during the day is expensive but free street parking overnight which is helpful. Awesome service and free breakfast (which includes cooked meals too). Love love love! Don’t let the no AC and no lift turn you off because it’s just heritage beauty at its best!

Fantastic location and reasonably priced. Parking was also very easy over the weekend, with (council) on street parking free over the weekend. A little rough around the edges. Looks good on first appearances, but could do with a bit of a once over of everything. Wallpaper was peeing off the walls, toilet roll holder not fixed into the wall properly, furniture was all chipped. This was a wee double, I have a feeling these rooms are maybe neglected over the suites/bigger rooms. For a wee double though, we thought the room was a decent size still. Just the bathroom was tiny. Our room 6/4, had a boiler or water heater in close proximity which was very noisy. Trying to have a lazy morning with the boiler going off since 7:30! Overall is nice and we had a good stay for what we needed out of a hotel (just somewhere to sleep), and was worth staying due to location, but not “luxury”.

It really is a nice property. We had issues checking in with our room and found a live mouse. The night supervisor at the time was not very good at handling the situation and actually threw the blame our way and expected to us to dispose of the mouse.

All very nice. It’s olde worlde and packed full of charater. Such a nice change from modern hotels. Speedy check in with all staff being friendly. Our room on the bottom floor was spotless with great bedding etc. The breakfast was so good. We would definitely go back.

A Wonderful Stay – Perfect for Our Special Trip! We had an amazing stay at Nira Caledonia. The hotel itself is beautifully designed. Everything was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. The lady at reception was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. Booked a stay for wife and I along with our two kids. They put us in a one room with a pull out sofa beds the kids had to share. Both the bed and sofa bed were extremely uncomfortable. Dust on the shades, water stain in the ceiling and not very helpful in addressing our concerns. I wanted to cancel our second night because it was so bad and they wouldn’t give us a refund. It was only until hotels.com got involved when they canceled it for us.

The staff were absolutely amazing! Lovely clean property, great breakfast and in a beautiful area of the city. Rooms had everything you might need with good quality toiletries in the bathroom. Rooms are bigger than those you generally find in a city too 😀

Unfortunately we had an awful experience on the very first morning with very unprofessional behaviour by a member of staff. The manager sought to rectify the issue immediately but it did sour our stay. On the whole the hotel is perfectly situated and should have been a perfect stay. I did notice an improvement after speaking with the manager, just disappointed it happened as it did. In terms of bedrooms, our grand suite was lovely with its own little garden, comfortable bed etc. the communal areas need some attention - general painting, carpets torn in places and updating. I would stress that the Manager did address my concerns very quickly and I understand that there were actions taken after my experience. If you are Coeliac or gluten intolerant, what I would say is that food options at breakfast are minimal.

I did stay in the small room and the three flights of stairs were a bit much. But the room was so HOT. That is great for sleeping, but it should be easier to turn it down. I had to open a window. The shower was soooooo small and it had a huge contraption of a shower - just simplify and give us more room. I had dinner (bar menu) which was excellent. But then they had the regular menu and I literally could not find anything I wanted to eat. I wish I could haver ordered from the bar menu my last night. Some people like lighter dinners. The staff was fantastic. The room was great. I would stay there again - maybe not on the 3rd floor but only because it was so hot and the bathroom so small. But I would do a 4.5 stars.

This hotel is on a quiet crescent in a beautiful neighborhood. We were upgraded to a suite, so the room was spacious and very comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and professional. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was very good.

Large lamps in the room had to be turned off at the socket on the wall. No light switches to turn the main lights off from the bed. No socket for the kettle near the tea/coffee station. Shower cubicle small for the size of the room and could do with a proper non slip tray. Extractor fan not working. Light switches main niggle. Oh pillows a bit flat.

Friendly staff, great location. Room had tall ceilings and a nice window. The shower water was too hot, even on the coldest setting

Everyone was so lovely at the hotel, especially Nicole - she really made a difference in our stay just by being so friendly and making an effort to get along with our little toddler (talking in Spanish and having little conversations with him). We never expect this but so nice when it does happen! We had also been upgraded which was a nice surprise and the suite was massive! Absolutely gorgeous place, location is so good - everything is literally around the corner so would definitely recommend!

Fantastic location and reasonably priced. Parking was also very easy over the weekend, with (council) on street parking free over the weekend. A little rough around the edges. Looks good on first appearances, but could do with a bit of a once over of everything. Wallpaper was peeing off the walls, toilet roll holder not fixed into the wall properly, furniture was all chipped. This was a wee double, I have a feeling these rooms are maybe neglected over the suites/bigger rooms. For a wee double though, we thought the room was a decent size still. Just the bathroom was tiny. Our room 6/4, had a boiler or water heater in close proximity which was very noisy. Trying to have a lazy morning with the boiler going off since 7:30! Overall is nice and we had a good stay for what we needed out of a hotel (just somewhere to sleep), and was worth staying due to location, but not “luxury”.

I recently stayed at Nira Caledonia in Edinburgh, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The check-in process was incredibly smooth, and even though we arrived at 10am, the staff kindly held onto our bags so we could explore the city. They even messaged us when our room was ready, which was a few hours before the usual check-in time. The room itself, complete with a hot tub, was beautifully decorated and felt incredibly cosy. It was the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing. We also requested additional coffee pods the next day, and to our surprise, they didn't charge us and gave us six extra pods – a lovely touch that truly reflected their hospitality. The breakfast was another highlight. It was cooked to perfection and offered incredible value for money. The entire stay was made even more special by the genuine warmth and attentiveness of the staff. I couldn't recommend Nira Caledonia highly enough. From the excellent service to the stunning room and delicious breakfast, it truly made our time in Edinburgh memorable.

Booked an overnight as a special treat for my husbands 50th birthday following a busy weekend in Paris. Hotel agreed to a 2pm late check out on arrival but reception called at 12 to tell us the late check out could not be honoured as they had guests arriving. As we were relaxing in the jacuzzi we said we would need an hour to get out we were then told a charge of £45 would be payable if we stayed until 2. Totally ruined the relaxing experience of the jacuzzi suite that I had paid so much for.

We booked a Townhouse Grand room for 1 night. Having looked at the photos online, the reality was a disappointment. Furniture was scratched and shabby but the main issue was the shower. I can live with a bathroom being small, but this was cramped, with an over bath shower that both my husband and myself struggled to get into and out of ; it was so high! I am only 5 feet tall and my husband has arthritis so clambering in and out verged on the dangerous! The shower itself was a huge let-down. It looks very fancy with a variety of "jets" but the actual water flow was a bit pathetic, not at all invigorating. Also, the bathroom light switch was literally dangling from its backing plate. We mentioned all of these concerns to the young man at reception and asked for a change of room. He was politely disinterested and told us all the rooms were full but that he'd ask an electrician to look at the dangling switch next morning ( when we were due to leave)! On the plus side, the location was quiet, the room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, the towels were very fluffy, the breakfast staff were pleasant, the cooked breakfast was nice and the building itself is beautiful. When we checked out, the young lady at reception did not ask about our stay but brightly told us to enjoy the rest of our day. Finally, parking nearby on weekdays is a bit of a nightmare at £4.50 per hour and wardens seem to be plentiful, probably standard for Edinburgh. So, a treat that wasn't really.

Was not made aware until I arrived that the hotel did not offer room service or food apart from breakfast, despite being advertised as otherwise. Be aware the property has lots of stairs, no lifts and staff do not offer to help with luggage all in all not very luxurious.

Unfortunately we had an awful experience on the very first morning with very unprofessional behaviour by a member of staff. The manager sought to rectify the issue immediately but it did sour our stay. On the whole the hotel is perfectly situated and should have been a perfect stay. I did notice an improvement after speaking with the manager, just disappointed it happened as it did. In terms of bedrooms, our grand suite was lovely with its own little garden, comfortable bed etc. the communal areas need some attention - general painting, carpets torn in places and updating. I would stress that the Manager did address my concerns very quickly and I understand that there were actions taken after my experience. If you are Coeliac or gluten intolerant, what I would say is that food options at breakfast are minimal.

This is a charming hotel with about a 15 minute walk to Princes Street. The room was lovely, the breakfast delicious, and the staff friendly. The only word of warning - there is no elevator so be aware before you book. We had to climb 64 stairs to get to our room, which could be challenging after a full day of sightseeing.

LOVE this place in Edinburgh! Beautiful, heritage rooms, stunning neighborhood with walking distance to upper market area Stockbridge, and less than 15mins to the main tourist area as well! Parking during the day is expensive but free street parking overnight which is helpful. Awesome service and free breakfast (which includes cooked meals too). Love love love! Don’t let the no AC and no lift turn you off because it’s just heritage beauty at its best!

I did stay in the small room and the three flights of stairs were a bit much. But the room was so HOT. That is great for sleeping, but it should be easier to turn it down. I had to open a window. The shower was soooooo small and it had a huge contraption of a shower - just simplify and give us more room. I had dinner (bar menu) which was excellent. But then they had the regular menu and I literally could not find anything I wanted to eat. I wish I could haver ordered from the bar menu my last night. Some people like lighter dinners. The staff was fantastic. The room was great. I would stay there again - maybe not on the 3rd floor but only because it was so hot and the bathroom so small. But I would do a 4.5 stars.

Hotel em ótima localização, funcionários extremamente atenciosos e simpáticos, cafe da manha delicioso. Quarto agradavel, cama maravilhosa (dormi como um anjo todas as noites), lencois e toalhas de otima qualidade. Limpeza e higiene otimas. A unica “reclamação “ que teria é da pressao do chuveiro… Muito fraca a agua. O hotel nao tem elevador, mas isso nao foi um problema, pq nos ajudaram com as malas. De resto, tudo perfeito. Certamente indico e se voltar, la estarei!

das Hotel ist gut, leider etwas entfernt vom Zentrum, ca 20 Minuten zu gehen. Wir hatten eine geräumige Suite, Wohn- und Schlafzimmer. Das Bad mit Dusche sehr klein. Frühstück sehr grosszügig.

Very unusual hotel. We were staying in the townhouse which had a separate entrance. Initially our room wasn’t suitable but we were immediately accommodate and moved to a more suitable room. The beds were comfy, the toiletries were lovely, the room Was spacious and great tv channels for chilling. The staff were just fabulous. Everyone of them went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food, both breakfast and dinner, were scrumptious. If there was an improvement I could suggest…the bathroom was very spacious, the shower was so lovely, but it was in a corner in a bath with very little space. It’s a pity there wasn’t a separate shower as there was the space to do this. Also…the body lotion was inside near the inside wall of shower….very hard to reach after the shower…the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were all outside it…an easy fix! The property is in a very quiet location. We got an Uber to the royal mile for less than £8 but also walked it….it was about a 25 minute walk but mainly up hill so be mindful of that. Another point to note for drivers…we drove and as we were staying 2 nights we parked up in the recommended ncp car park.,,.it’s about 15 to 20 minute walk away. We were only parked for 23 hours but they charged us £38 I assume it was as it was over 2 days. It was supposed to be £19 a day. If staying just overnight there’s free on street parking from 5.30pm to 8.30 am and it’s £6 an hour outside of that.

It’s a pity there wasn’t a separate shower as there was the space to do this. Also…the body lotion was inside near the inside wall of shower….very hard to reach after the shower…the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were all outside it…an easy fix! The property is in a very quiet location. We got an Uber to the royal mile for less than £8 but also walked it….it was about a 25 minute walk but mainly up hill so be mindful of that. Another point to note for drivers…we drove and as we were staying 2 nights we parked up in the recommended ncp car park.,,.it’s about 15 to 20 minute walk away. We were only parked for 23 hours but they charged us £38 I assume it was as it was over 2 days. It was supposed to be £19 a day. If staying just overnight there’s free on street parking from 5.30pm to 8.30 am and it’s £6 an hour outside of that.
