This Historic building is now a lovely hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive. We were sent a text in advance with check in directions and the keypad door entry was very convenient. Street parking is convenient, but it wasn’t explained until after we were checked in that we could ignore the “two hour limit” parking signs. Our first-floor room was well appointed with a large modern bathroom. Unfortunately, it felt like a basement room with very high ceilings and a window that was too high up on the wall to see out. Definitely request a second floor room with full-length windows. The “parlor” is a small public bar with a few cafe tables. It was a little weird to pull our bags through it to get to our room. It was also awkward to request ice for our room at the bar. Coffee and pastries are available at the bar/parlor, but only the drip coffee is complimentary. It would have been nice to at least be able to serve your own coffee from the pump coffee dispenser rather than having to wait for the attendant who was away from her post.

I do not know where to start. The room was cute and comfortable. The lotions smelled nice and it was clean. Other than that it had absolutely nothing that I needed plus a large number of the things that it said it had. (Like parking. It’s just street parking. There’s no dedicated parking to the hotel.)The only amenity (the bar) was closed (on Memorial Day weekend!?) when I arrived so I had to text for help. The “person” who texted me back told me that if the hotel didn’t suit my needs to leave and find somewhere else to stay. Literally that’s what they said. At 10pm on a Sunday night. I think all of these reviews are fake. If you were staying in this town this might be an ok place but if you are on a road trip or going to the park you won’t have any of the things you’ll need. No fridge no common area to like microwave stuff. Had to get ice from a restaurant bar which is creepy. Also had to throw away food since there was no way to keep it cool in my tiny cooler. (They won’t like rent you a fridge either.) Bad stay all around and could not wait to leave. Mostly made bad by the tone of the “customer service” which made me feel like my personal safety was the last thing on earth they cared about.

Loved our stay in this lovely renovated historic building. The room was very comfortable, spacious, and had the coolest bathroom ever! Just a heads up- there is no elevator and a fairly long stairway to the 2nd floor. The lower floor had a classy bar and coffee shop, with outdoor seating available. Mountain view out of the large windows. Walkable to lots of eating places. We enjoyed the eclectic Horsefly Brewery- great food and service!

The room was lovely! It was a bit awkward checking in, there was no front desk. I tried to open the door to the bar, and that’s when someone helped me in. Not a huge deal, since I did get help. The staff carried my luggage upstairs since there wasn’t an elevator to the second floor. There wasn’t a refrigerator in the room either. But it was really comfy, and I loved the way the window cover lets in so much light! All in all, I really liked it there. Just a couple small tweaks and it’s perfect!

Overall nice stay. Clean rooms. Just a reminder that there is no elevator, so if one has big luggage once will need to take it to 2nd floor via stairs. Nice location in downtown area, close to every thing. Check in is in the cafe and share the same staff. Street parking.

Wonderful boutique hotel. A nice mix of contemporary and mountain art deco. Super clean and spacious room. Great location. The parlor bar with complimentary coffee and team in the morning is a real treat.

Upon arrival a person actually came outside the building to greet us. She saw take our luggage out of the trunk. Very impressive. No big check in process, just what was my last name and she handed us the key and we were on our way. After a long drive this was so very welcomed. We also dined and although the menu this day was severely limited (disappointing considering what I saw online as choices, the burger I chose was excellent as was the service. We were only there for one night but the room was very nicely appointed and large. I would have liked a coffee maker and another luggage stand.

I had a wonderful time during my stay. The room was spacious, well-kept, and very comfortable. Everything felt thoughtfully arranged, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to unwind. Spent the night at the Rathbone for a couple's weekend and we were very pleased. The contactless entry process, code, etc. was well communicated. We were able to check in, and come and go, without hassle or interruption. The building has been excellently remodeled/updated and was immaculately clean. Our room was spacious and comfortable with many nice touches. The walk in rainforest shower was super great! The restaurant bar downstairs was super inviting and cozy. Montrose is just small enough that everything is close. Parking wasn't an issue easy to find. Wonderful stay overall and we'd stay again. Thanks!

We stayed here while visitng Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Very well appointed interior and comfortable with a good location in town. We were in a first floor room adjacent to the Bar and could hear bar noise until it closed. Would recommend requesting a 2nd floor room. Also, first floor rooms only had one window very high up on wall-fire safety? The room did not have a mini fridge, which we missed having. All said, we would definitely stay here again as it seemed to be the nicest accommodation in town and a great location.

The communication leading up to arrival was great. Every staff member was so kind and helpful throughout my stay. The room was so beautifully decorated and well appointed with all the necessities in the bathroom. The bedding was so comfortable I almost didn’t want to leave. The food and cocktails I had at the Parlor Bar were prepared to perfection and so very tasty. I definitely recommend this property!

The room was so beautifully decorated and well appointed with all the necessities in the bathroom. The bedding was so comfortable I almost didn’t want to leave. The food and cocktails I had at the Parlor Bar were prepared to perfection and so very tasty. I definitely recommend this property!

I recommend staying here if you're in Montrose. It is in the perfect location with many restaurants etc. within walking distance. The hotel has been updated and is beautiful, the bar is great, and our room was almost perfect. The non-contact check-in process was unusual but we ended up loving it, it was super easy. The parking situation was also unusual in that you can park basically anywhere for free. Being from the Denver area, we couldn't believe that street parking was free. The folks working the bar were super friendly and helpful. Our only complaint is that they installed Samsung TV as the streaming option in the rooms, and it is impossible to navigate and is missing basic channels, so I missed the Nuggets game.

Spent the night at the Rathbone for a couple's weekend and we were very pleased. The contactless entry process, code, etc. was well communicated. We were able to check in, and come and go, without hassle or interruption. The building has been excellently remodeled/updated and was immaculately clean. Our room was spacious and comfortable with many nice touches. The walk in rainforest shower was super great! The restaurant bar downstairs was super inviting and cozy. Montrose is just small enough that everything is close. Parking wasn't an issue easy to find. Wonderful stay overall and we'd stay again. Thanks!

Really need a front desk staffed. Took an hour to figure out simple volume on the TV since they had three blue tooth options which all seemed to be unavailable. I called to get help and no one ever called back. Room was large and nice but I suggest one more chair please a luggage rack. Fridge and microwave would have been nice but I know you’re trying to be upscale.

Communication from staff was excellent since there is no reception desk. Room is large and clean. Bed is comfortable. The building is next to Police Station. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but there is a wider selection of eateries within a short driving distance.

Just a heads up- there is no elevator and a fairly long stairway to the 2nd floor. The lower floor had a classy bar and coffee shop, with outdoor seating available. Mountain view out of the large windows. Walkable to lots of eating places. We enjoyed the eclectic Horsefly Brewery- great food and service!

This hotel is in a great location with super easy entry into Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Walkable to a few shops and restaurants and within a quick 5-10 minute drive to even more shops, breweries, etc. Lots of parking right in front. The hotel is new and super clean. Huge rooms with vaulted ceilings. Extremely clean. Very cute coffee and cocktail bar on the lower level. We had one minor issue with the water during our stay and staff was quick to make this right. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

Overall nice stay. Clean rooms. Just a reminder that there is no elevator, so if one has big luggage once will need to take it to 2nd floor via stairs. Nice location in downtown area, close to every thing. Check in is in the cafe and share the same staff. Street parking.

The communication leading up to arrival was great. Every staff member was so kind and helpful throughout my stay. This Historic building is now a lovely hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive. We were sent a text in advance with check in directions and the keypad door entry was very convenient. Street parking is convenient, but it wasn’t explained until after we were checked in that we could ignore the “two hour limit” parking signs. Our first-floor room was well appointed with a large modern bathroom. Unfortunately, it felt like a basement room with very high ceilings and a window that was too high up on the wall to see out. Definitely request a second floor room with full-length windows. The “parlor” is a small public bar with a few cafe tables. It was a little weird to pull our bags through it to get to our room. It was also awkward to request ice for our room at the bar. Coffee and pastries are available at the bar/parlor, but only the drip coffee is complimentary. It would have been nice to at least be able to serve your own coffee from the pump coffee dispenser rather than having to wait for the attendant who was away from her post.

Good addition to the Montrose community. It will be much better when a restaurant is opened. Also, general dog friendly policies should be rethought, since clientele interested in these types of historic properties often will want to bring along their dogs.

Love love love this hotel, very posh with a NYC vibe. The service was great.. the rooms were fresh and new. We after a long day of travel were able to relax in the bar lounge area to unwind. Breakfast was low key but also with friendly service. This is a definite return visit hotel.

Upon arrival a person actually came outside the building to greet us. She saw take our luggage out of the trunk. Very impressive. No big check in process, just what was my last name and she handed us the key and we were on our way. After a long drive this was so very welcomed. We also dined and although the menu this day was severely limited (disappointing considering what I saw online as choices, the burger I chose was excellent as was the service. We were only there for one night but the room was very nicely appointed and large. I would have liked a coffee maker and another luggage stand.

The hotel was beautiful. Really enjoyed our time in the town and highly recommend. When checking in it was a little confusing due to the instructions given by the confirmation. Just go in the cafe and the bartender will check you in.

This was a gem we found while traveling from California and Nevada to The Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It is very close to the national park in a super cute area. This hotel may just be one of my favorites I’ve ever stayed in. It was newly renovated and they left no stone unturned. Our room was huge, the bathroom was incredible with lots of space, a beautiful shower, and double sinks. Best of all, it was spotless. One of the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Very friendly and helpful staff as well! We wished we could have stayed longer!
