Stayed here for a visit to theatre on strand and good walking distance to this and many other central locations including british museum and Euston station. Great place to eat about 100 yards down the street with amazing value and quality. Staff within hotel were helpful with filling water, advising where to go, assistance with check in, and we awere able to leave luggage before check in tome and afterncheck out to avoid taking around with us. Although some decor is a little dated as they make clear, room was spacious enough, warm and clean with fan provided in very hot period. Separate bathroom down stairs with no lift but if this isnt a problem then it is a decent size with generous shower, tea and coffee downstairs is good and on a quiet street

This was exactly what we needed as a family of three. It was located within walking distance of Euston station, had many reasonably priced restaurants nearby, and a Tesco. The beds and washroom facilities were clean and comfortable. We felt safe with someone manning the door 24 hours. The only small downside was the outside noise (the room was on street level and we had to leave the window open for ventilation). The hotel itself was very quiet.

This is an old building, with excellent location close to British Museum, the Piccadilly line underground, and other attractions, reasonable price in relation to the city and season (July). I had a room with private bathroom, the bathroom very small and uncomfortable (it is a better option the shared bathroom, if you do not mind to share). They did not clean the room everyday, and some times bad odors came from toilette. I appreciate that there is always somebody at the reception.

The hotel didn't claim to be a 5 star luxury spa, but is a little outdated, although everywhere was immaculately clean, the welcome was very warm, and the matress was about the best I've slept in - in ANY hotel. Oh, and have a good look aroiund the reception area as you wait - very interesting ornaments! No lift, and lots of stairs, so not accessible above ground floor rooms - check which yours is!

Check-in was easy. Desk open 24hrs. The room was small but as expected. Everything clean and decent for the price. We had a shared bathroom of which there were two on our floor and very clean. A basic, budget room and just what we needed. Good location and secure.

We enjoyed our stay at St Athans Hotel! The staff were very nice and the 24/7 reception was great. From a safety perspective, we appreciated that all guests must ring the bell to enter the building. The newly renovated washrooms were nice. The cafe across the street is very cheap and has good breakfast options! There are also lots of other restaurants in the area, including a diner we had a full English breakfast at. The hotel is old but charming! Would recommend if you are looking for a 'no frills' hotel to stay at.

The staff here was very kind and helpful. They let us drop our bags in the early morning of the day of check in so we could explore all day and they allowed the same on check out day. This is an old hotel but they keep it very clean and quaint. Be sure to book a room with a private bath if that is important to you since most rooms are shared bathrooms between floors.

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience with St. Athans Hotel because our stay was truly disappointing. The room was musty, uncomfortably hot, and had no air conditioning. We had to leave the window open, but there were no screens, which led to us getting bitten by gnats at night. They provided us with a fan, but it was broken. When I asked for a replacement, the front desk staff told me they didn’t have any more and that I’d have to wait until another guest checked out. The sink in the room was tiny and clogged—after about three seconds of use, it would start to overflow. After five nights, I asked for fresh towels and toilet paper. The front desk attendant told me I’d have to wait until the towels were washed to get any clean ones. He said he’d bring up toilet paper, but never did, so I ended up buying some myself. The next morning, I asked another staff member for towels and was only given two, even though there were three of us in the room. The only positive I can mention is the location—it’s convenient. Beyond that, the hotel is poorly managed and uncomfortable. I strongly advise against booking here. And if you do, avoid Room #14—it appeared to be a converted storage room with beds thrown in.

The hotel is old and it wasn’t what we expected. The rooms are small, the mattress on the bed is about 4 inches high, we were afraid to sit in the chair as it looked like it would fall apart, parts of the carpet was unraveled, the bathroom was not cleaned very well. There was mold around the soap dish, drain and sides of sink. The toilet is inside the shower, there is a step up of 6-8 inches to get into bathroom. They didn’t seem to like that we wanted clean towels each day and you can only have two (I like an extra for my hair) but when you take a shower you need to use your towel to wipe up the water so you can use the toilet, unless you like wet feet. You get a room key but have to ring a buzzer to be let into the hotel. They also don’t want you to take drinks in your room. You don’t have any way of controlling the temperature in your room, we requested and was able to get a fan. We chose this hotel as it had gotten good reviews and is close to the tube and Eurostar station. If I had it to do over I wouldn’t have chosen this hotel. It definitely is very dated and needs newer and better furniture and a deep clean in rooms and bathrooms.

We arrived early and luggage storage was fast and easy. Staff were friendly and there were showers, toilets, and a lounge for us to use before our room was ready. All areas were clean and the staff were all very helpful and attentive. Great value and fantastic location.

It was ok. Staff was so nice and helpful. My son was super sick and folks were extremely accommodating with our requests. However the room was extremely small. I took a 3 bed room and there was absolutely no place to walk in the room or even open our luggage. Bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen. We ended up staying too much in the room because my son was sick, which started making me claustrophobic. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to other families - the entire experience was less hotel and more like a hostel.

My room was very small and I didn’t enjoy the shared bathroom experience. Room was clean. No fan so it was warm. Location is just okay. Somewhat noisy on the street so if we left the window open for the room to cool down the noise on the street kept us up.

The room was quite small but adequate. There is one shower and one toilet for multiple rooms, so you may need to wait in the morning. You could also hear your neighbors quite clearly. However the location was excellent and quiet at night.

Hotel was in a good location and was clean but very dated. 2 nights stay as we were going to concert at Wembley. The bed was like a rock. It was located next to the front door which was constantly banging. When people walked down the corridor to the front door, the bed creaked as the floorboards moved. The curtains were falling off at one side. As the room we had was right at the front on road level, you heard everyone walking by. There were roadworks outside that were very noisy (but obviously that’s not the hotels fault). There was no tea & coffee making facilities, you had to go out and walk a few doors down to go back into main hotel to get a tea or coffee. We did ask to be moved, but the hotel was full. We were given 2 duvets to put underneath the bottom sheet. These were thin summer duvets. One of them had 2 stains on!. It made it slightly better for the second night, but would never stay there again.

Great location - clsoe to Euston and Russell Square train stations. I was staying in a street-facing, ground floor room and it was quite noisy. You could hear anyone on the streets conversations as they walked past. As the building is very old, anytime someone walked upstairs the floor creaked as if you were in the same room. My room was also next to the main entrance and some guests bang the door as they come and go. Overall it was good value, convenient location, and clean.

There is no shortage of hotels in the area, at nearly any price imaginable. The ground floor room would not have been my choice, but for two nights in central London I can't complain too much, and the room was small but suitable. The tiny TV perched up in a corner, however, seemed more like a curious afterthought than an amenity.

It’s an old building with no air conditioning. If I was staying here with just by myself or with my husband it’s fine. The room was very tiny with a double bed and a twin bunk bed. With 4 people in there (2 adults, 2 teens) it was so very hot. Can’t open a window more than 2”. Fan going but with one outlet near the door it never cooled the room down. Also a tiny tv up in the corner that my husband got working. We booked thru Expedia and added on a night after with the hotel. The difference of that was £70. I asked for the Expedia rate that I got and was told the rates depend on the night. I paid so we could get into our room. I have asked for a refund of that as it’s ridiculous to pay that. Oh and our shower never drained so that was less pleasant as well. So with not one night good sleep and charged that extra amount was not great. The bedding and room was clean. Also being a family with luggage and no lift was tricky carrying suitcases up a flight of stairs. So we were thankful we were up only one floor. The only thing nice was the location is walkable to where you want to be in London. And we felt safe in the neighbourhood.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the St Athans Hotel. There were plenty of restaurants and shops around which were easy to walk to. The staff was helpful and kept our luggage safe and locked when it was too early to check in and after when we had checked out but it was too early to go to the airport. They cleaned our room and provided us with extra towels when asked. We also felt safe since you cannot just walk in- you ring the bell and they have to let you in. We were worried the shared bathrooms were going to be an issue but it ended up being fine and we had no issues. Our biggest complaint were the people above us who were stomping like elephants, which of course is not the hotel's fault. If we stay again we will ask for the highest floor. We highly recommend this hotel!

Stayed here for a visit to theatre on strand and good walking distance to this and many other central locations including british museum and Euston station. Great place to eat about 100 yards down the street with amazing value and quality. Staff within hotel were helpful with filling water, advising where to go, assistance with check in, and we awere able to leave luggage before check in tome and afterncheck out to avoid taking around with us. Although some decor is a little dated as they make clear, room was spacious enough, warm and clean with fan provided in very hot period. Separate bathroom down stairs with no lift but if this isnt a problem then it is a decent size with generous shower, tea and coffee downstairs is good and on a quiet street

The hotel is nothing like the pictures, very run down. We arrived at 9pm, and were given a room with windows wide open in an extremely cold night. It possibly 3 to 4 hours to warm up by then it was early hours of the morning. Made the staff aware, made no effort to change our room or any help.

Great economy hotel. Small room, but if you are just looking for somewhere to sleep for the night it’s ideal. Top location for all the key sites. I didn’t find the shared bathroom facilities to be a problem at all. Whilst there is no tea and coffee available in the room, the lounge does provide tea coffee and hot water if required. Would definitely use the hotel again.

Cheap thrills! We were on a budget so I can’t complain too much. It gets the job done. Very close to subway station which made it easy to navigate to and from the downtown. Awesome little cafes and restaurants nearby. Gotta shoutout Fortitude Bakehouse - so great.

I really enjoyed this hotel. No frills stay. Fresh coffee always available in the lounge. People say it’s a loud hotel. But really for an inner city London hotel it’s really not loud. Situated in a great area with awesome shops and cafes. The best bit of it all was the hotel staff. It’s a great hotel and we will return.

Everything was fine and according to the expectations. The only thing to improve is information about restaurants. We arrived late and asked about a place for dinner, they said our only option was uber eats, but then the following day we found a late opening restaurant in the main street around the corner.

Great staff and very clean rooms. And it's in such a great location, that has got to be the biggest advantage. There's only one wall plug and the room is very small, but it is a nice budget stay for those that just need a place to sleep over. Bathroom are clean and organized, and there's plenty of them available in the hotel. Overall good budget stay.

We enjoyed our stay at St Athans Hotel! The staff were very nice and the 24/7 reception was great. From a safety perspective, we appreciated that all guests must ring the bell to enter the building. The newly renovated washrooms were nice. The cafe across the street is very cheap and has good breakfast options! There are also lots of other restaurants in the area, including a diner we had a full English breakfast at. The hotel is old but charming! Would recommend if you are looking for a 'no frills' hotel to stay at.
