Had a lovely few nights here in Oct 24. Very comfy room, easy check in and lovely location. A few comments: Breakfast - there is a lovely breakfast basket in the room with plates, bowls and cutlery. It has porridge, muesli & muffins as well as fruit, milk and yogurt in the fridge. There’s a dining table downstairs if you want somewhere to sit and eat. Parking - the side of the road with the hotel on has 24-7 free parking, the other side you need to be out by 8am. There is a car park up the road but I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the car there. We managed to get a spot right next to the hotel every day as people move in & out fairly frequently. Bathrooms - awesome power in the showers!! They are lovely! Just be careful as it was so powerful the water crept over the edge of the cubicle very easily!! Lovely big fluffy towels and beautifully heated on the towel rail too.

Despite what it says onn Hotels.com there is no on site parking. We were recommended to use the car park a few hundre yards away - free after 6:00pm but you neeed to pay £1 to get parking from 8:00am to 10:00 am

Easy parking in public car park across the road which is only chargeable between 0800 and 18:00 loads of spaces. Loved the breakfast hamper idea price was very reasonable and area is very quiet in evening and through till morning. Will definitely stay again

It was an ideal location for visits to local heritage sites and for Colchester. Room clean and comfortable, although a small chair would have been helpful for eating breakfast. Staff very pleasant. Used town car park, free on Sunday and left before charges started at 8am on Monday. Would book again if need to re-visit area. Thanks

A very nice hotel, the complimentary breakfast Basket was a lovely touch. There wasn’t any seating area in the room but there was a dining room with table and chairs for the guests to use.

Really lovely property for an out of town stay or if attending an event at Braxted Park Estate. We really enjoyed the breakfast basket provided, such a good idea for when the restaurant downstairs is not open yet. The food at the restaurant was very delicious, everyone enjoyed their meals. The ingredients are locally sourced. The hotel is family friendly but they do not have a travel cot so you would need to provide your own. Somethjng else to note is the ceilings are quite low so would be a bit difficult for anyone 6foot or taller.

Easily one of the most comfortable, clean and user friendly rooms i have stayed in over the years. You never quite know what you are going to get in the smaller independant places but this was just great. So much so i had to take time to review and say thank you. PS The breakfast hamper was super :)

Boiling hot room, water wouldn’t drain away in the shower, yoghurts in the fridge were out of date. Room was loud with path outside the window and the room upstairs.

Excellent little find. Amazing value, comfy king sized bed. Friendly staff at check in, which was quick and simple. Generous complimentary breakfast hamper, teas and coffees. We asked for extra milk in the morning, which we was given. Very clean room - great power shower. Beautiful quiet village. Lots of little shops, bakery and pubs. We ate at The White Heart - Green King (we booked a table) and the food was delicious.

Really enjoyed my stay here as a solo business traveller over 3 nights. It is quirky and small but really cosy and warm, very clean and comfortable. Felt like a home away from home. Menu and food was good in the brasserie. The little extra touches; breakfast hamper and chocolates, ample fresh juice and milk in the fridge were really lovely and make they stay even nicer.

Was beautifully clean - which is quite important to me, so I was impressed. The bed was very comfortable and the snacks and small breakfast in the room was a lovely touch. Lady who greeted my partner was very pleasant and helpful. Only one downfall if you are a light sleeper is that the hotel is opposite a clocktower which chimes on the hour, every hour. Didn’t affect me as I slept through, but it woke my partner every hour! Wouldn’t stop us staying there again though as everything else was superb!

Well I must say, I have stayed in hundreds of hotels across the uk and Europe and the way this hotel handed my booking from start to finish was beyond exceptional, from tending to my requests to the little hotel rooms gifts, I was really set back and have to be review this hotel as one of the best I have ever stayed in for the price I paid To the girls working there who made sure my stay was pleasant, thank you for making it a great stay!

We managed to get a spot right next to the hotel every day as people move in & out fairly frequently. Bathrooms - awesome power in the showers!! They are lovely! Just be careful as it was so powerful the water crept over the edge of the cubicle very easily!! Lovely big fluffy towels and beautifully heated on the towel rail too.

It has porridge, muesli & muffins as well as fruit, milk and yogurt in the fridge. There’s a dining table downstairs if you want somewhere to sit and eat. Parking - the side of the road with the hotel on has 24-7 free parking, the other side you need to be out by 8am. There is a car park up the road but I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the car there. Easy parking in public car park across the road which is only chargeable between 0800 and 18:00 loads of spaces. Loved the breakfast hamper idea price was very reasonable and area is very quiet in evening and through till morning. Will definitely stay again

Excellent little find. Amazing value, comfy king sized bed. Friendly staff at check in, which was quick and simple. Generous complimentary breakfast hamper, teas and coffees. It was an ideal location for visits to local heritage sites and for Colchester. Room clean and comfortable, although a small chair would have been helpful for eating breakfast. Staff very pleasant. Used town car park, free on Sunday and left before charges started at 8am on Monday. Would book again if need to re-visit area. Thanks

Really lovely property for an out of town stay or if attending an event at Braxted Park Estate. We really enjoyed the breakfast basket provided, such a good idea for when the restaurant downstairs is not open yet. The food at the restaurant was very delicious, everyone enjoyed their meals. The ingredients are locally sourced. The hotel is family friendly but they do not have a travel cot so you would need to provide your own. Somethjng else to note is the ceilings are quite low so would be a bit difficult for anyone 6foot or taller.

Was beautifully clean - which is quite important to me, so I was impressed. The bed was very comfortable and the snacks and small breakfast in the room was a lovely touch. Lady who greeted my partner was very pleasant and helpful. Only one downfall if you are a light sleeper is that the hotel is opposite a clocktower which chimes on the hour, every hour. Didn’t affect me as I slept through, but it woke my partner every hour! Wouldn’t stop us staying there again though as everything else was superb!

Lovely, modern rooms in an old building so expect slightly uneven floors. Nice touches like mints and biscuits. The breakfast hamper was ample. Bathroom a little tight but the shower was good with excellent toiletries. The food and service in the restaurant was excellent. Hope to return as Coggleshall has a lot of history.

Really enjoyed my stay here as a solo business traveller over 3 nights. It is quirky and small but really cosy and warm, very clean and comfortable. Felt like a home away from home. Menu and food was good in the brasserie. The little extra touches; breakfast hamper and chocolates, ample fresh juice and milk in the fridge were really lovely and make they stay even nicer.

Checked in early which was a bonus but no sign of any free parking Paid to park in the town car park overnight which wasn’t a problem but it could be if you’re not back at your car when the following day starts

We stayed in Room 4 it's fantastic but a wee bit small even though it is advertised as a superior room, It's in an ideal position within the village with get pubs and restaurants and a fantastic coffee shop, we will be back

Beautifully quirky but very clean, thoughtfully, tastefully and perfectly furnished. My room was quite small and I had to duck to get into the bathroom but it didn’t worry me - I enjoyed staying in a non standard, comfortable and charming little space. Staff very friendly and helpful. Quiet area. Would recommend and return!

Our room No 5 was big and very comfortable with good facilities. The inclusion of breakfast in the room was a nice thoughtful addition. We fully enjoyed the accommodation. The plumbing in the ensuite was a problem as we couldn't get the shower to provide a hot (or even lukewarm) shower by either of the lever or tap controls. The sink however provided very hot water and cold water ok, though if the sink stopper was pushed down it wouldn't come back up to empty the water in the basin. The stopper linkage mechanism below the basin needed adjustment to open it again. Parking in the road outside the Rooms was always full, and the car park along the road looked quite small initially. However, we discovered it continued across the road with many more parking spaces. Each day the first 2 hours were free of charge and daily charges thereafter very reasonable. Free parking overnight from 6pm. 1 final point: it should be pointed out the rooms are all on 1st floor and stair access is quite steep & narrow. We assisted a lone gentleman with a case and walking stick down the stairs so he could hold the stair rail (on either side). I hope this helps - no major criticisms at all as a very enjoyable and comfortable stay! Thank you!
