An unusual stay with some quirks. I had Room 10 which whilst spacious is connected to the kitchen via door that is unused. However it does mean that I had noise at 2230 when someone was getting cutlery or plates ready for the morning. I banged on the door and they were quiet. More noise and lights came on at the glas panel on the kitchen door (covered with card) at 0200 which woke me up. Room had no cold water meaning hot shower was scalding but this was quickly sorted by the staff. Cooked breakfast was great and unexpected treat as I thought it was continental only. Handy location and great value, despite the noisy room. I would stay again but ask not to have Room 10.

Very quirky 600 year old thatched building. We had a large room for 3 of us and a lovely big bathroom with a huge shower cubicle and a bath. The bed was very comfortanle and we slept well even though the building is on a busy road. If you only like 5* hotels, this is not for you! There was ample parking.

I was put in here after the place I booked became unavailable. My 1st thoughts from Outside was is it unoccupied it’s so run down. The lady who greeted me was nice and gave me a key and instructions. The room was very old fashioned but clean a TV from the 89’s the kettle look terrible I used my own. The bathroom very small but brand new and quite good. Overall not great but one night just accepted

Unfortunately i found the room uncomfortable, the bed was hard and the pillows rubbish. Shower was tepid dispite running the water.Breakfast was cold and concealed. There is a mountain of old mattresses round the back waiting for widelife to move in, also reminants of old sinks . Rubbish everywhere. I did not feel welcome on arriving.

The hotel was in total darkness and it was not until the next day you could see the state of the outside. The hotel posts pictures of years ago and frankly it’s fraud! We did not stop a second night and no recompense or reply to my email. The room is dreadful Pat tests out of date , mould in bathroom , dirty and dated . Curtains did not close and the bed was awful with primark pillows making it feel like you led on the pavement. Limited hot water and too much to mention ! It’s shabby and run by a Chinese couple that were so rude and have little English. Breakfast terrible and was left untouched. Do not stay in this hotel as you will not get what is advertised!!!

Jack and wife good . The whole experience was as good as it needed to be. Didnt like the electricals too many socket extensions and trailing cables. Room service fell away to the end of the week. Clean enough and always warm.

The oddest check in experience I’ve ever had. Having messaged the property when I booked letting them know my arrival time I arrived to find an empty bar and no sign of anyone (other than a key on the desk with note from someone else saying they had left because the smell of smoke was so bad). When someone arrived a few minute after I rang the ball he preceeded to facetime someone (whilst repeatedly turning the camera to me in some sort of odd visual inspection) and through very broken English we managed to get me to a room about 25 minutes later. The room was comfy enough in fairness, but not clean. Hairs in the shower, dustballs on the floor and a dirty towel shoved under the fridge because it leaked. Wi-fi had a “one minute on / one minute off policy” which wasn’t overly helpful either. Safe to say I won’t be returning.

Abingplough inn was in a good location. Breakfast was brilliant. Staff very friendly & helpful. Bed & bathroom clean. The buildings could do with a little TLC. Definitely value for money. Would certainly recommend it.

My check in experience was rather unusual. After pressing 2 doorbells for attention I was greeted by a young woman who looked like she was wearing pyjamas! Walking through the door my room looked amazing. However, on closer inspection it was very mediocre. Door to the shower room looked grubby with dust on the ledges with dirty marks around the handle. There were dirty brown marks on the shower curtain and the mats around the toilet and in front of the basin didn’t look fresh/washed. The liquid soaps provided were equivalent to coloured water. The internet system felt complicated and I never was able to get logged on. You could call a number for help but I didn’t feel this was ok to do at 10.30pm at night. Breakfast: it was like Fawlty Towers! You had to pre-order breakfast at check-in and also choose your time. There were no spoons for cereal, the cereal dispenser didn’t work and the kettle didn’t turn off once it reached boiling point. One of the guests went to used it and almost scalded their hand. There was only one person doing breakfast and although I had requested breakfast for 8.30am, I wasn’t greeted and only acknowledged some time after some other guests had been served, so it was lucky that I wasn’t in a hurry to get away. Two full breakfasts were served to guests who hadn’t ordered them and were promptly taken away then magically two breakfasts were served to a couple who sat down long after me. Aah, I see, the two unwanted breakfasts were given to them!

NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL.. THE MOST AWFUL.. UNKEPT.. DIRTY .. STAFF RUDE AND LAUGHED US WHEN WE SAID WE WERE NOT HAPPY.. SHOUTED AT US WHEN WE ORDERED BREAKFAST AND HAD TO LEAVE FOR MY DADS FUNERAL.. BECAUSE INSTEAD OF IT TAKING 20 minutes to half an hour.. we waited an hour and 10 minutes.. we had my grand children with us to.. Highly recommend not to stay here!

Awful Experience - DO NOT STAY HERE Had a message asking what time we would be arriving - no reply from property Upon arrival we were not made to feel very welcome, we felt like we were an inconvenience. We were Asked to fill in what we wanted for breakfast by ticking boxes, which was fine. Then were told no other food options available - Thank goodness Room very old and quaint. Lots of equipment filled the room and little to no space to move around in. Electrical cables trailing over the floor and a tripping hazard. Slept - not very well - mattress lumpy Breakfast - well ….. toast that never really saw the toaster and warm not hot. A single Sausage that never really saw the grill/frying pan and looked undercooked - obviously we didn’t eat it. Hash browns not cooked properly and cool. Bathroom ok but the Shower which my husband had was hot for him. He only had a very quick and short shower, approx 4 minutes spent there. When I went for my shower it was freezing cold. Towels so threadbare and rough and small and barely covered your body. We booked for two nights as we were seeing friends, but it was so bad we left after the first night and didn’t stay the second night. Nobody to complain to on returning our key. Definitely will not be returning. If you want a lovely place to stay and a warm welcome - BOOK ELSEWHERE

The breakfast was lovely and the room is well appointed, with filter water, good quality coffee, a large bathroom with shower over bath. The double bed is very comfortable, with durable and good quality linen, fresh towels and other extras such as a mini fridge/wine cooler.

More noise and lights came on at the glas panel on the kitchen door (covered with card) at 0200 which woke me up. Room had no cold water meaning hot shower was scalding but this was quickly sorted by the staff. Cooked breakfast was great and unexpected treat as I thought it was continental only. Handy location and great value, despite the noisy room. I would stay again but ask not to have Room 10.

Very quirky 600 year old thatched building. We had a large room for 3 of us and a lovely big bathroom with a huge shower cubicle and a bath. The bed was very comfortanle and we slept well even though the building is on a busy road. If you only like 5* hotels, this is not for you! There was ample parking.

Unfortunately i found the room uncomfortable, the bed was hard and the pillows rubbish. Shower was tepid dispite running the water.Breakfast was cold and concealed. There is a mountain of old mattresses round the back waiting for widelife to move in, also reminants of old sinks . Rubbish everywhere. I did not feel welcome on arriving.

My stay at the Abingplough was relaxing and enjoyable. The room was well appointed, comfortable with shower and large bath, additional fresh towels and wine chiller. Large wide screen LCD TV with a range of channels. The hotel offered veggie options for breakfast and had excellent coffee.

Our stay was good but check in was a bit awkward. No one was there to greet us, and I had to phone the Expedia number to reach someone for help. The connection wasn’t good for the phone either.

On arrival they couldn't find our reservation. When the lady finally found us, she rang what we can only assume was her husband to mention we had arrived. There was further confusion during the call and we heard the person on the other end of the phone asking "how much have they paid". On her response he said, put them in room 2. This was a family room, but we had booked the double deluxe bay view room. The room was comfortable enough, but quite an odd layout. Two entrances to the room, the longer way around entailed walking up a staircase with a very strong smell of damp. Then entering the room down some steep stairs, the room was in complete darkness and we struggled to find the light. The switch being a pull switch that is not near the entrance. The location is extremely quiet, not very much to do locally. An okay base for our visit.

Abingplough inn was in a good location. Breakfast was brilliant. Staff very friendly & helpful. Bed & bathroom clean. The buildings could do with a little TLC. Definitely value for money. Would certainly recommend it.

My check in experience was rather unusual. After pressing 2 doorbells for attention I was greeted by a young woman who looked like she was wearing pyjamas! Walking through the door my room looked amazing. However, on closer inspection it was very mediocre. Door to the shower room looked grubby with dust on the ledges with dirty marks around the handle. There were dirty brown marks on the shower curtain and the mats around the toilet and in front of the basin didn’t look fresh/washed. The liquid soaps provided were equivalent to coloured water. The internet system felt complicated and I never was able to get logged on. You could call a number for help but I didn’t feel this was ok to do at 10.30pm at night. Breakfast: it was like Fawlty Towers! You had to pre-order breakfast at check-in and also choose your time. There were no spoons for cereal, the cereal dispenser didn’t work and the kettle didn’t turn off once it reached boiling point. One of the guests went to used it and almost scalded their hand. There was only one person doing breakfast and although I had requested breakfast for 8.30am, I wasn’t greeted and only acknowledged some time after some other guests had been served, so it was lucky that I wasn’t in a hurry to get away. Two full breakfasts were served to guests who hadn’t ordered them and were promptly taken away then magically two breakfasts were served to a couple who sat down long after me. Aah, I see, the two unwanted breakfasts were given to them!

NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL.. THE MOST AWFUL.. UNKEPT.. DIRTY .. STAFF RUDE AND LAUGHED US WHEN WE SAID WE WERE NOT HAPPY.. SHOUTED AT US WHEN WE ORDERED BREAKFAST AND HAD TO LEAVE FOR MY DADS FUNERAL.. BECAUSE INSTEAD OF IT TAKING 20 minutes to half an hour.. we waited an hour and 10 minutes.. we had my grand children with us to.. Highly recommend not to stay here!

The room was spotless, heating on prior to arrival. I was offered an upgrade on the room which was a nice gesture. The bathroom was clean and had extra towels, the TV has a good selection of free to view and stresming options. A cooked breakfast was also included.

The property was somewhat quirky, but in the ideal location to stay over while visiting the area for motocross. The owners were friendly and welcoming on arrival and at breakfast. One of the only things I can really pick a fault with is there was a really strong stale smoke smell in the bathroom which did hit you when opening the bathroom door, so could do with a freshen up and maybe an air freshener in there. The bed was really comfortable, the quilt / duvet was incredible too- I tried to find a label for where it was from to order one for home but couldn’t see one 😂. Overall a pleasant stay, and if in the area again we would book again.

My wife and I recently stayed at AbingPlough House. It’s a lovely period cottage with character and external cottage style thatched bedrooms forming a pretty terrace along side the main building. It’s run by new staff now for the last few months. I noticed that it was in need of a little TLC however, I spoke to the new manageress who I must say does everything from booking to cleaning, repairs and breakfast the best she could and was always at hand, she is very attentive to everything she does and is a credit to the business. After speaking with her I realised she’s not getting the support that she should from the business owner who is the letdown here. It would be supportive if the owner helped with supplying basic materials like paint inside and out just to freshen up also attend to the loose ends that I noticed. AbingPlough House is a good quiet relaxing place to stay for travellers or visitors to the area, it’s also set in a pretty countryside location. Like I said it’s a good place but, with a little support from the owner it will be a “GREAT PLACE” with a great manageress who has ambition to achieve.

We booked this for 2 nights because it was close to Oxford and had laundry - this place is well... very rustic - low ceilings steep narrow stairs to a room with super tippy floors - not at all what we thought we have booked - Expedia advertised laundry in room - there wasn't - large beds, small beds ! Tippy floors set off my vertigo so bad - breakfast was fine - they are trying but it's not at all what we needed - we only stayed one night Expedia refused to reimburse us even tho the place didn't have what we booked and needed - I don't recommend it even tho the wee girl working there was super sweet and trying very hard - rustic/tacky/uncomfortable

The breakfast was lovely and the room is well appointed, with filter water, good quality coffee, a large bathroom with shower over bath. The double bed is very comfortable, with durable and good quality linen, fresh towels and other extras such as a mini fridge/wine cooler.

Unfortunately i found the room uncomfortable, the bed was hard and the pillows rubbish. Shower was tepid dispite running the water.Breakfast was cold and concealed. There is a mountain of old mattresses round the back waiting for widelife to move in, also reminants of old sinks . Rubbish everywhere. I did not feel welcome on arriving.

The hotel was in total darkness and it was not until the next day you could see the state of the outside. The hotel posts pictures of years ago and frankly it’s fraud! We did not stop a second night and no recompense or reply to my email. The room is dreadful Pat tests out of date , mould in bathroom , dirty and dated . Curtains did not close and the bed was awful with primark pillows making it feel like you led on the pavement. Limited hot water and too much to mention ! It’s shabby and run by a Chinese couple that were so rude and have little English. Breakfast terrible and was left untouched. Do not stay in this hotel as you will not get what is advertised!!!

My stay at the Abingplough was relaxing and enjoyable. The room was well appointed, comfortable with shower and large bath, additional fresh towels and wine chiller. Large wide screen LCD TV with a range of channels. The hotel offered veggie options for breakfast and had excellent coffee.

If you don’t have details of how to get your room key before you arrive then you have a problem. There is no EE or O2 signal at the property. We advise that we would arrive between 7-8pm but apart from others looking for how to check in there was nobody there. We eventually managed to get a signal on my wife’s phone and contact someone who messaged us how to open the key box to a room. So we got the key and got into a room. It appeared that although the bed linen had been changed and there were clean towels ( complete with holes!) the room did not appear to have been cleaned. The shower worked (tick). There was soap in bathroom and shower (tick). The bed was very soft. The TV worked but no streaming channels. WiFi worked but was tricky to connect. Breakfast was not as described by others on Hotel.com. It was cheap so you get what you pay for. We put it down as an experience and laughed a lot about it. Probably best avoid staying here.

OK, it was a little rough around the edges, but the room was spacious, there were plenty of towels, the shower was hot and it had a certain rustic charm both inside and out. Check in was relatively smooth for us [we had printed the booking confirmation], and breakfast was fine [we filled in a form at time of check-in to say what we wanted and at what time, so everything was already clear when we sat down in the breakfast room the next morning. The most important thing for us was that it was close to the Thames Path, and half way between Oxford and Goring, making it the perfect stop on a two day walk between those points. The pub just over the bridge - The Barley Mow - was excellent for dinner, and there's a village shop on the way to the pub selling everything you might need - also open quite early if you need to replenish your snacks and drinks for the next stage.

Do not stay here! Dirty rooms. Thick cobwebs. Heavy limescale ln shower head & kettle. Rickety bed. Tv didn’t work. Old manky carpet cut out round base of toilet & sink. Tasteless breakfast on day 1, & no breakfast offered day 2, but wouldn’t have eaten anyway! Non attentive staff.
