Have always wanted to stay here and was slightly disappointed. My room choice didn’t have the view I was expecting the bed didn’t look out to view. The tv channels didn't work. The hot food for breakfast was very dry. The dinner was not pleasant. Entree’s were good but main was dry again. The pool area is lovely but there was no drink service slightly uncomfortable with diners looking straight at you. The 2nd breakfast was disturbed by workman drilling as they did repairs at 8.45 in the morning right next to veranda. Lovely chocolates were given for my birthday and a welcome drink which was a lovely surprise but everything else fell short. Very noisy slamming doors in hallways early in morning so not much sleep was had. Also had trouble getting the aircon right was so cold and noisy we had trouble adjusting it. Overall the hotel is beautiful pick your room wisely I had asked for high floor to get best view and was talked into getting lower floor so as to not have to climb stairs. I would have preferred to do the stairs to have a view as that was why I came to this hotel.

The Anchorage is an excellent accommodation- it certainly exceeds their official four star rating. The staff are friendly, the facilities great for families, the beach is conveniently by the premise. I also loved the small touches - the complimentary watermelon at the adults only pool and the small gift at check out. I am planning on returning.

A boutique classy establishment in a fantastic spot that is well worth it. Maybe more expensive than other places but from the welcome champagne, the excellent service and amazing food it’s worth it! Comfortable beds, fantastic bathroom with rain shower, happy hour and two pools… Will definitely return!

As always the relaxing atmosphere and attentive staff helped to make our short stay memorable. It is a quiet Hamptons style waterfront resort with picturesque sunsets over the marina from the bar. Thanks once again particularly to Ali and Angela. The Gallery restaurant meals are fabulous as are champagne breakfasts. We love the adults pool, with recently extended deck. Lots of small touches add to the stay like icy watermelon offered poolside by waiters. The addition of a gelato bar and shop will be great when we next visit. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway.

We visited over Easter Sunday so the Spa was closed but the pool area and service was excellent Great breakfast choices with quality produce and staff were really attentive We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel preferring to go out and sample local restaurants but the restaurant did seem busy For us, the only negative was the bar prices which were very high.

For the price you would expect the rooms to be updated and in much better condition.The room was older and dated. This is not a cheap hotel so I expected something updated. In my opinion the cleaning of the hotel was not up to standard, though the hotel was fully booked so I know the cleaners would have been extremely busy. That being said the location was good, if you are looking for somewhere quieter. The restaurant was exceptional, both food and the service.We had a lovely dinner. The breakfast buffet was as good as any 5 star hotel. Staff were nice and friendly at this resort and restaurant.

the hotel is very tired needs refurbishing. my safe was not even useable . New Safe required I booked two rooms and paid extra for uninterrupted views received one room as requested the second room had restricted views Unable to access room before 3pm which I feel is very late in the day.. Had to request hand wash bottle be filled as it was empty..But in saying this the beds and linen was clean

The room was very comfortable with a beautiful quiet outlook. So relaxing. We dined in the restaurant and had a delicious meal and the breakfast the next day was the best we’d ever experienced in a hotel.

The Anchorage is a fabulous place to stay and the buffet breakfast is really really good. Only downside was a very noisy air con in our room to the point we had to turn it off to be able to sleep. Service and location are perfect. I would recommend staying there.

We had some issues with our booking being asked to pay an additional extra $400 to cover our 3 year old and 6 year old kids even though the room remained the same and amenities didn't change. Otherwise it's a great resort with a very premium feel.

When we arrived, 7 minutes before checkin, we were told we had to wait until the exact checkin time. When we went back to the desk we were told the systems were down & they could not check us in. I’m not sure why the first young lady felt the need to lie to us. They accompanied us to our room so we could get into it, however no one ever came back to give us our keys or check us in. I needed to go back down to reception & tell them I still hadn’t been checked in. We weren’t given any information on the facilities, breakfast, etc. I had to follow up on my own to find out about the resort. We did find Justin very helpful and he did his best to help us out. The resort itself is in a lovely location & the rooms were quite comfortable.

From start to finish the attention to detail from the staff in particular Lax Dissanayake, Manager who immediately focused on a concern, to Angela in the service/food section, to Debbie in housekeeping, the comfort and service was impeccable, you are sure to be impressed by the level of service and care the staff have to make your stay enjoyable. I will definitely recommend the Anchorage and return in the future.

Our first time staying at The Anchorage and it was everything we'd imagined - the perfect choice for our anniversary weekend! From the moment we stepped into reception to check in, the hospitality staff went above and beyond! We loved the celebratory champers to welcome us for our stay. Thank you especially to Katrina who made it all happen (so grateful to you for fixing up the room hiccup). We had the Anchorage Room, Dalton House section first floor, balcony overlooking the marina - beautiful views. Bed was large and comfy, spacious room and very clean. Nice touch with the bottle of bubbly and greeting card awaiting us in our room. Breakfast was included in our stay and the buffet breakfast was wonderful. Again, the staff at the Galley Kitchen were just amazing! Highly recommend The Anchorage - we are looking forward to staying here again in the warmer months and also making a booking at the spa!

Beautiful, well maintained and clean Hampton style accommodation in a very quiet and peaceful location. Added bonus Dolphins turning up as you watch the sunset. Breakfast choices were endless even with me being a coeliac I had my separate toaster and GF cereal and cakes. I very enjoyable couple of days away for my birthday.

A fabulous venue only a short drive to “downtown”. Furnishings in our room were showing signs of age. Nice glass of bubbles on arrival. The upstairs bar great place to sit and vegetate, but food served there was ordinary.

Beautiful accommodation in Nelsonbay. Lots of things to see and do with a short drive. Pool was available. We were lucky to see some dolphins in the bay in front of the place.

The standard of the rooms are exceptional. Great size and views over the harbour. Staff are attentive and the location is fabulous for access to everything Port Stephens has to offer.

The room was very comfortable with a beautiful quiet outlook. So relaxing. We dined in the restaurant and had a delicious meal and the breakfast the next day was the best we’d ever experienced in a hotel.

Great pool area and nice restaurants on the premises. The rooms are quiet and the staff are very helpful. The Rick Stein restaurant was outstanding. Julio's while in a great location overlooking the pool, was just ok.

The restaurant service was appalling. The staff were good but the cooks couldn’t cope resulting in long waits between courses. In the morning we were told we only have one coffee machine so you’ll have to wait!! I like my coffee with my breakfast and not 15 minutes after I’ve finished. Shame how the kitchen fails the hotel. After such bad service on our first night we ate out rather than be disappointed.

Fantastic hotel with fabulous surroundings. Accommodation was superb. We visited over Easter Sunday so the Spa was closed but the pool area and service was excellent Great breakfast choices with quality produce and staff were really attentive We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel preferring to go out and sample local restaurants but the restaurant did seem busy For us, the only negative was the bar prices which were very high.

10/10 everyone and everything was fantastic. We will be back asap. We loved everything about the hotel and also the surrounding area. Not far from the central coast where we are from so that helps too.

We went away for a night from Sydney and had been to the anchorage previously however it was a long time ago so we were blown away by the changes to the property, the interior design in the bar was lovely and appropriate for the location and star level of the hotel. A couple of observations that we could make would be that the bed was a queen and was with two mattresses, one mattress appeared to have lost some of its springs so needed replacing, the service in the bar was a bit slow and seemed to not be able to cope with the demands of happy hour and a long weekend. In addition to the above we did the wellness room for two people. The infra-red sauna was not warm enough and the steam room appeared to have a problem with the thermostat as when you were seated it was not warm enough either. A cold plunge pool would be a welcome addition. This is not faults with the hotel more just these tweaks would have made it an exceptional stay, We are well travelled overseas so have seen quite a lot to compare with and in Italy some exceptional wellness retreats.
