Hotel is about a change to Sandman. It is just about finished with the refurb and is excellent. Gym is huge and well equipped. Pool and sauna are great too.

The room was nice however had no Aircon, and it looked like it was a recently refurbished room so not likely to receive it, it did have a fantastic but that does no good when the weather is as hot as it is. Hotel going through some refurbishment so I am sure things will be better when completed, couldn't get breakfast as had an early start on the Saturday we checked out as it started at 8am and we had to be out at 7.30am which was disappointing. Most disappointing was the leisure facilities like the pool - it was really grotty , showers stank of drains and the pool didn't seem sanitary , not sure how often chlorine levels etc are checked but I don't think it was regular. The hotel swimming pool was heated and the length of the pool was decent. I was able to get some lengths with the front-crawl done. Other facilities like the sauna and Turkish baths were also in good condition. I had dinner at Grazie, an Italian restaurant 4mins away which I order viaveezu (the former city-taxi app). The hotel is centrally located and the city center is a skip, a jump and a hop away

Lovely refurbished bedroom with good amenities (when you find the hairdryer by lifting up the desk!), great to have a fridge in the room. Friendly and helpful Reception staff and friendly Breakfast staff. The hotel is an easy walk to Ponds Forge swimming pool which was the reason for our stay. We would have liked breakfast to start a bit earlier than 8a.m. at the weekends as it meant my daughter could not have breakfast before she had to be at Ponds Forge for warm up. We were a bit disappointed with breakfast itself - mushrooms looked destroyed, limited cereal choices, sachets of sauce (not main brand), only scrambled eggs available. One of our party would have liked poached egg, another would have loved pancakes or muffins. Not really worth the money for breakfast. Restaurant and bar were closed for refurbishment which we were told about and didn't mind - maybe the breakfast will improve as well. The newly refurbished gym was a big hit but the changing rooms and pool and steam room were dirty.

Lovely hotel, current refurbishment didn’t disrupt our stay. Rooms very modern and clean. Bed linens were very nice a soft, given to a good nights sleep along with the blackout curtains. Access to gym, steam room and pool was bonus.

Lovely hotel with well appointed and comfortable rooms. It has a nice leisure centre with gym, sauna, steam room and a 20m pool. The pool is lovely but very warm for actually swimming lengths. Parking is easy and it’s a 10 minute walk to town.

The Hotel Spa was a leisure center for the public, I think that should be mentioned. It was nice but very busy like a gym normally is. The room was new renovated, the staff was accommodating and I would recommend. the breakfast was weird bland food. the coffee was really poor quality.

I arrived at 3:30pm. There was only one member of staff visible on the front desk and he was having a nightmare time. The computer system was being very slow and the card machine wasn’t working. This meant that there was a queue of people waiting to check in. Once I had made it to my room, I saw it hadn’t been cleaned (unmade beds, litter on floor & desktop and full bins), I called down and spoke to the same man who was most apologetic. I asked if i could at least have some refreshments sent up as the tray was completely empty and he came up himself to bring me a coffee which I was most grateful for. It seems this man was doing the job of at least 4 people. My room was eventually cleaned whilst I was out at a concert. The room itself was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

Good service, great leisure facility but why no one bothered to change the linens is beyond me. Sweat was easily sensed and bathroom was not cleaned- have shown the picture of left open shampoos and razors in the bath indicating it was not cleaned after previous guest. I can’t imagine why would I chose that accommodation again if that’s how cleaning and gl hygiene is approach at the Quays.

Lovely hotel nice and modern. Location is ok. Very pleased that they accommodated our request for a quiet room on night floor. Big comfy bed but the pillows are horrendous like sleeping on a sack of potatoes. Sore neck the day after. Also the bathroom smelt really bad so we had to request some air freshener which we had to keep spraying constantly. They informed that they knew about the issues so I wonder why they still put people in smelly rooms?

Staff were friendly, bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and breakfast was excellent. Parking was easy and location central. However there were a few issues that reduced my overall comfort and enjoyment. Firstly, there was no big, central light, just dim lamps. In this half-light, the room appeared clean but then we found litter from a previous guest in a drawer. But the worst thing was the shower, which was obviously blocked and flooded our bathroom. Staff said it was a ‘big job’ to remove the shower plug cover to clear any blockage and offered us a room change instead! Why would a hotel have difficult to remove/clean shower plugs? This made me question how thorough the daily clean must be. We declined the room change as we were leaving the next day. The pool was nice, but the steam room was grotty and in need of an update. I expect better than this for the price.

The rooms are lovely after the refurb. However I found the lighting very low. There was no main light. They're trying to create a mood lighting room. I would have liked the option for a main light. No AC! The electric heater was too small for the large room. The gym looks brand new. Well equipped and a good place to train. The pool and steam room have seen better days. The food menu seemed a little pricey to me. Overall, nice improvements and I would stay again at the right price.

My husband and I are regulars at this hotel, but on this occasion, we introduced it to our friends for a joint stay. We were so pleased they felt the same! It’s situated in a great location- it feels like another world away from the city with its tranquil quayside and narrow boats but it’s still a walkable distance away. We were aware of renovations going on but there was very little sign of them over the weekend. The rooms were great with a decking/ balcony and garden table with chairs overlooking the quay. A fridge in the room would have been an added bonus but we managed ok. We utilised the gym and swimming pool to the max- there was some great equipment on offer and helpful staff. We are locally ( True Loves) on the quayside for pizza, which always has a home from home vibe. However, we had breakfast at the hotel, which was great value for money. It catered for vegans, vegetarians and the meat eaters in our party, with plenty of choice. The staff were attentive and the view was wonderful. We will definitely be returning.

Room was excellent, can get hot at night but fans are provided and do a great job. Breakfast was alright but limited options. There could be more bakery options instead of just muffins and croissants. But Genuinely hotel is favours and staff are great !

The hotel looks nice. Lovely big bed. The setting over the quays is good. However I don’t agree with £8 charge for parking if booking through an agent, free if direct. The walls are paper thin. I heard EVERYTHING from the couple above. I had no sleep. TV would be better if it was actually a smart TV as was advertised. I would give it 3 stars.

Part way through a fabulous refurbishment. The bedrooms are very smartly decorated and furnished, luxury bathrooms. I was very impressed for my first stay at this hotel in Sheffield, I stay reasonably often in the city and will be back

We booked a junior suite and it was a lovely big room. It had a kettle, fridge and Nespresso coffee machine (new style pods). Lovely comfy bed, great shower, large bathroom. Stayed 3 nights while attending the Tramlines festival. Parking easy, £8 a night which was good rate. Used the leisure club for a swim, great looking gym available which I did not use. Overall a great stay. Few minor niggles, housekeeping kept running out of coffee pods and had to keep asking reception, fridge was very cold, froze the few bits we had in their, tried to alter the temperature but did not work. Feedback passed on to reception. Biggest issue and why only 3 stars is no air conditioning. We had windows that could be opened a fraction, and a fan which we had on full the whole time we were in the room, but that was not enough, the room was very hot overnight and made it difficult to sleep. It was approx. 20-22 degrees during the day and 16 degrees at night.

Looks lovely on arrival. However that's where things start to slip. Check in was slow, receptionist not easy to understand and didn't really know what she was charging me. Was shocked to be told there was a £50 deposit to pay, hadn't budgeted for that. We had room 321 right opposite the lift which was noisy all night. Pillows were far too soft I asked if they had other (like other hotels) but the answer was no! Preston paid for a dinner deal but it seems reception and the restaurant don't share the same info, felt I was having to tell them what services they offered all the time. If I was in a Premier Inn with their Good night guarantee I would have asked for it. I wasn't impressed for over £350 for 2 nights b&b

I arrived at 3:30pm. There was only one member of staff visible on the front desk and he was having a nightmare time. The computer system was being very slow and the card machine wasn’t working. This meant that there was a queue of people waiting to check in. Once I had made it to my room, I saw it hadn’t been cleaned (unmade beds, litter on floor & desktop and full bins), I called down and spoke to the same man who was most apologetic. I asked if i could at least have some refreshments sent up as the tray was completely empty and he came up himself to bring me a coffee which I was most grateful for. It seems this man was doing the job of at least 4 people. My room was eventually cleaned whilst I was out at a concert. The room itself was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

Refurbishment is still in progress , the completed parts are excellent and there is minimal disruption during stay due to refurb. Breakfast was great, nothing was too much trouble.Friendly and helpful staff throughout.

Check in was awful. Staff rude and unfriendly. Website claimed check in was at 3 but had to wait until 4:15 as rooms were somehow not ready yet. Charged us for a night we did not stay and were not given any refund.

The hotel was under refurbishment and the bar and restaurant were both closed. I was not informed of this until late on in the booking when rooms in alternative hotels were expensive. The quays area is quite unappealing and boy racers speeding up and down the road on a night is a distraction too

Lovely hotel with well appointed and comfortable rooms. It has a nice leisure centre with gym, sauna, steam room and a 20m pool. The pool is lovely but very warm for actually swimming lengths. Parking is easy and it’s a 10 minute walk to town.

Lovely stay - hotel in decent condition, good location to city centre. Just shame overnight parking charge of £8 for 24hrs is not included in the stay for guests. There is however a secure long stay car park next door for £3.50!

We had a lovely two night stay here. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The bar/restaurant was closed due to refurbishment but the front of house staff were able to recommend local places to eat. The room was clean and comfortable. We used the swimming pool, steam room and sauna during our stay. Breakfast was nice, had a few options to choose from. The car park was good and plenty of spaces when we arrived. Will definitely be staying again.

The Hotel Spa was a leisure center for the public, I think that should be mentioned. It was nice but very busy like a gym normally is. The room was new renovated, the staff was accommodating and I would recommend. the breakfast was weird bland food. the coffee was really poor quality.

Hotel was all fine, they are in the process of refurbishing it- we had an old style room so it was slightly tired but who cares. Comfortable and clean. The pool was also a bit tired but good size and very nice to have sauna and steam. Changing room showers should be next on the upgrade list! Restaurant was poor. Menu like going back to the 90s (deep dish pizza?) Very unimaginative. No wonder there wasn’t anyone else there! Service was still very slow though- despite having no other customers, our server was not attentive. I’m sure we would have ordered way more drinks etc if she’d only been more present. Breakfast, on the other hand, was GREAT. lovely attentive staff and good selection of food. Thanks

What let the hotel down was we had communicated the day before but when we arrived check in was slow and the bar and restaurant was shut!! The rooms are lovely and so clean and comfortable. Breakfast good value for money some pastries would be nice.

I think the value for money was excellent. The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. The only complaint with the room was the lighting being too dark, albeit a very modern lighting setup. However, I have to state as someone allergic to Gluten, the hotel and restaurant have absolutely ZERO ability to deal with this and therefore neither dinner nor breakfast was an option.

Generally a bit of a let down. Has potential but rooms quite tired with stained carpet etc. My husband also found the bed very hard and uncomfortable. The breakfast was very poor - cheaply done. Large jars of jam etc for everyone to use instead of individual and no vegetarian offering on the hot food. Very cheap juice and no coffee machine (just a jug of coffee). My kids used the pool and enjoyed that but not worth the price to stay in my opinion.
