Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Stayed in a 3 person room. Used the pool facilities which were lovely in the morning. Had dinner in the restaurant also which was very nice and suited our needs perfectly. Stayed here after playing a gig in Sligo. Came back late and the reception advised us that we could order drinks to the room by scanning a QR code. It was not fit for purpose. Alcoholic beverages were available but soft drinks were not. All we wanted was a 7up or something similar. The online thing wasn’t working, rang to reception, classic “computer says no” situation unfortunately. The staff were very helpful and dropped us up some mi-wadi, they could do that because it was free - but it showed the flaw in the system that they couldn’t take a simple order for a soft drink over the phone due to an app issue. A bit of flexibility would go a long way here and certainly would be more suitable to any older customers who would find QR codes and online ordering to be a challenge. Other than that, had a mighty time. Will stay again.

Stayed as a family in a suite. The room was fabulous and a great size… we did pay for a 2 bed suite and part of it was locked but the staff were great and able to go unlock the 2nd room for us (this was the one with the kitchenette and sofa / dining table). The hotel is lovely and well staffed. Room was very clean and does show some wear but no major issues. The check in at 4pm we found to be REALLY late in the day, especially when you’re only staying 1 night. They allowed us to use the facilities while we waited for our room. The facilities are also good however swimming pool needs some updates. the ladies changing rooms were totally disgusting. I appreciate these are also used by non hotel guests however they clearly hasn’t been cleared all day. Covered in food and hair. Really put me off!

The Clayton was quiet, away from the noise of Sligo and very family oriented. We enjoyed the sauna, the restaurant/bar and the breakfasts were excellent. It’s slightly outdated and the rooms are small but well appointed. The staff was friendly and very helpful, parking was ample. Overall, we recommend especially if you have a car.

These rooms were great! We enjoyed our stay and wished it was longer to be honest. We arrived around 6pm and didn't leave the property. There only thing that would've been better was if the spa was open. We could've really used a massage.

Really nice and beautiful hotel . Wonderful breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. However in my case, traveling with kids, we were a little disappointed with the pool facility kids rules. No kids allowed after 7pm. And mornings, kids are only allowed at the pool from 6:30 to 7:30am . Pool is closed for kids from 7:30am to 10am. Then open again after 10am. Jacuzzi is only allowed to 16 and older. Saunas are for adults only. Other than that everything else was great.

Very run down hotel. There was a foul smell in bedroom. Swimming area/ changing facilities filthy. Hairs/ dirt on floor, hairs stuck to walls on shower. Just disgusting. Extremely disappointed with our stay. Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t not recommend.

Property is a converted castle that needs a bit of attention. The grounds around the property are wonderful. Upon checkin the staff was friendly, however, there was only one at the desk with many people waiting. The lobby and pool areas were very pleasing. The rooms and hallway are institutional looking. It seems as little attention has been given in creating a comforting feeling. Our room had the very same feeling as the hallways. The beds were comfortable and clean but our carpet was stained and dirty. We infact were booked in for two nights but decided to checkout after one.

Loved this hotel. Food was ok. The only thing was a weird smell in the room for the two days we stayed. It was like a sour or stale smell. Service was excellent. Staff couldn't be better. Family friendly. The smell was off putting though. Facilities good.

Room was fine. Shower didn't work properly, projected a stream of water like a hosepipe. Big hole in shower towel. Fellow guests children allowed to run up and down corridor shouting after 10pm.

We had to walk soooooo far to get to our room Laughable Then there was no wifi at the room Had to walk all the way back to get on it again Kept bumping off the wifi As a family traveling from the US no reliable wifi was not acceptable Had an outside security light shining into the room all night Room phone was unplugged and unpluginnable so with no phones and no wifi and so far away from the reception area etc felt very remote and detached Could not plan the rest of our travels from our room as got bumped off the wifi (again ) and was not prepared to do the long walk back to the elevators in our nightwear I guess it was quiet? Except our room had a mystery door to someone else’s room and we could hear them and their kids (!) No toiletries except a serve all shower gel Cracked basin Generally not very happy and this was not a cheap stay Very disappointed

We made our reservation six months in advance and stayed there in May 2024. At check-in, we were assigned and paid for a king room as reserved. Unfortunately, the room had been painted recently, and the paint fumes were very strong which made breathing uncomfortable. Subsequently, we were offered a different room, but it had a diesel generator operating continually outside our window and a view of large trash cans. This was unacceptable as well as an ADA room offered. Finally, we were provided an L-shaped room with two small beds with no reduction in price. This facility looks like a castle from the outside but is a retrofitted former psychiatric hospital with windows up high and little natural light. It retains its institutional character and does not provide good value for the 199 euros/night quoted.

The hotel was located in an area that just wasn't walkable. From the outside, this looked like it would be an historic property and probably have a lot of charm. The exterior was completely different from the very bland and charmless interior. Nothing was wrong with that; I was just expecting something different. The worst thing for us was that we had two walk an extremely long way to our room-- down several long hallways and through four or five sets of doors (none with automatic doors) and I walk with a cane. We won't be staying there again.

Room was cold and needed to get a base heater. Staff was very friendly and helpful such as Inoch and Anna at the front desk and Kamila in the restaurant for breakfast . Actually Kamila was incredible , moving the breakfast , talking to people, making sure the buffet was always full and always smiling!! She could run any department in a hotel if not the hotel!

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Stayed in a 3 person room. Used the pool facilities which were lovely in the morning. Had dinner in the restaurant also which was very nice and suited our needs perfectly. Stayed here after playing a gig in Sligo. Came back late and the reception advised us that we could order drinks to the room by scanning a QR code. It was not fit for purpose. Alcoholic beverages were available but soft drinks were not. All we wanted was a 7up or something similar. The online thing wasn’t working, rang to reception, classic “computer says no” situation unfortunately. The staff were very helpful and dropped us up some mi-wadi, they could do that because it was free - but it showed the flaw in the system that they couldn’t take a simple order for a soft drink over the phone due to an app issue. A bit of flexibility would go a long way here and certainly would be more suitable to any older customers who would find QR codes and online ordering to be a challenge. Other than that, had a mighty time. Will stay again.

The Clayton was quiet, away from the noise of Sligo and very family oriented. We enjoyed the sauna, the restaurant/bar and the breakfasts were excellent. It’s slightly outdated and the rooms are small but well appointed. The staff was friendly and very helpful, parking was ample. Overall, we recommend especially if you have a car.

Overall stay was lovely, family room was amazing, so big and spacious. Leisure club staff were very friendly. Breakfast was gorgeous. Told by receptionist that there was no kids club or movie night etc but turns out there was and that we didn't need a reservation at the bar for dinner, turns out we did. We waited 45 mins for a table and another 45 minutes for our food to be served. Service was terrible, no one came near us through out our meal to check if we needed drinks etc. We kept having to get up to ask for things.

Stayed 3 nights in family room with wife and 1 yo, tried to book for 1 more night due to change in circumstance and woman at front desk with blond hair and glasses was extremely rude and unhelpful. Asked could we get help to move bags from one room to the next as at the time alone with baby, told nobody there to help. Rest of the staff especially in gym/playroom area helpful. Separately, the front entrance is a nightmare with those doors that are too small, the ramp is around the side of building but on two occasions the doors were lock so couldn't get in with buggy, have to lift up front steps. Staff watch as pushed buggy and luggage trolly to room without offering assistance, when the room is on third floor and through 8 fire doors which all closed

Enjoyed our stay as it was close to the university where our son was going to attend . Need a car if want it go to town as it is not close to city center . Beautiful and historic grounds . Excellent restaurant and service was extremely friendly ! Breakfast is only buffet, would be nice to have an a la carte option . Overall excellent hotel!

An absolutely stunning property in an old psychiatric hospital outside of the city centre with large rooms featuring all the amenities you would expect from a large hotel. Despite being very busy with a conference downstairs, our room was quiet and comfortable. Staff was lovely. Would not recommend to anyone travelling without a car as the hotel was far away from the more walkable areas of Sligo.

Spent 15 days in Ireland/Scotland this was one of our best stays. Kids loved the heated pool and it’s a nice way to unwind from a busy day in the city. Bus stop out front takes you into the city.

Clean room, friendly staff. A bit outside of town so that we needed to drive to a pub. But it was fun staying in a castle. I would have liked to have some info in the room about the history of the building. Maybe it was in the room and I missed it?

The hotel was located in an area that just wasn't walkable. From the outside, this looked like it would be an historic property and probably have a lot of charm. The exterior was completely different from the very bland and charmless interior. Nothing was wrong with that; I was just expecting something different. The worst thing for us was that we had two walk an extremely long way to our room-- down several long hallways and through four or five sets of doors (none with automatic doors) and I walk with a cane. We won't be staying there again.

Beautiful historic building converted to a hotel. 6 min drive to center of Sligo town plenty of safe parking. Superb grounds. Staff are helpful too. Rooms are amply sufficient.

We were given room at the very end of the building and it is a very long-shaped historical building, so it took ages to walk there. The smaller room in the two-room-suit was locked up initially and it felt kind of creepy. We ended all slept in the bigger room, and the pillow was very thin and not comfy at all. Luckily we only stayed one night there.
