The Hotel was good, long wait for lifts but always going to have that will high storey

The hotel was very good overall, and very well located. Two notes are that the water pressure could be better in the shower, and the programming of the lifts meant that there were queues on each floor at peak times. The bar area, although not used on this short visit, looked excellent. Would stay again!

Big queue to check in and check in screens didn't work. Also had to wait nearly 10 minutes to get served at the bar. Biggest issue was the wait for the lifts on check out as kept bypassing our floor (8) and waited 9 minutes to finally get one (and had to go up and stop at every floor up and down before getting to reception!) Sadly this delay made it a rush to get my train on time.

Stayed here with my wife for 3 days. Decent hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were good. We had breakfast which was decent for buffet selection. Hotel has a good bar too which was generally busy (sometimes hotel bars can be a bit ‘dead’ and lack atmosphere but this one was good.) Hotel has good location. Easy to walk to all the sights in Manchester. It’s a good value hotel for a trip to the city.

Ideally situated in central Manchester on the edge of Chinatown. Carparking not controlled by the hotel is available very nearby. Plenty of good restaurants close by of various nationalities as well as a lot of pubs and bars. The hotel itself is modern with reasonable sized well equipped rooms. The lobby, bar and restaurant are modern, spacious and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The bar in the hotel closed early so we couldn’t get a drink when we came back to the hotel in the evening.

The lifts were a nightmare at checkout time (I had to wait near to 15mins for one) in the end I walked down the stair but there were elderly people waiting a long time!

Great location with wonderful views over the city and in walking distance of everything we needed. Room was clean, tidy and tastefully done- bed was incredibly comfy! Beautiful bathroom with good shower - overall great. Please note that the lifts get very busy at checkout time- with only 3 lifts and 17floors it took a while to get one. Also reception was manic on checkout, staff were a bit abrupt and there is an additional city charge to pay on leaving you need to remember.

No parking lot, you have to be kidding me.

Very clean, quiet, and well maintained hotel in a very convenient location. Would stay here again.

Soon after check-in, we found the used coffee cups had not been washed. There was strain. There was dirty stain on the toilet bowl. The tray for the cups was sticky, like not washed for a long time.

I bought this hotel through Expedia, but Clayton charged me twice I have spoken to the hotel and it’s making it very difficult to get a refund. Plus we stayed at this hotel last year and the hotel was fabulous. but the hotel needs a refit already. The shower didn’t drain properly and overflowed the walls were marked. The Aircon did not work. and most of all the room stunk moldy. and the cleanliness was revolting, there was fluff everywhere, we will not be staying again

Great hotel with good views and large rooms, laptop safe, iron and ironing board and hairdryer. Housekeeping was hit and miss, some days ok others dirty cups and spoons left in rooms, drain smell from sink, shower drain filling up, dirty bath mat not changed, surfaces not wiped down and room not hoovered all week.

Friendly, helpful reception staff. Room spotless. Ideal location for everything. Would definitely recommend.

Nice fresh clean hotel in a great location!

The location was excellent and the room fine. The small problems were: The room was not cleaned and prepared on our second day. Subsequently we were left without a bath mat, no milk for tea and no tea spoons. An unusual situation which we reported at the front desk

Blood on the curtains. Blood on the carpet. So much blood… Tv was wonky & hanging off the wall. Smashed glass in the picture frame in the wall. Smell of sewerage coming out of the shower drain. Noisy room right next to the elevators. Like a scene out of a horror movie.

Comfortable hotel, with well equipped rooms, and good value breakfast. My only gripe: my room overlooked a noisy bar district and major road, an ill-fitting window meant the noise kept me awake well into the early hours, even on the 11th floor. I wish hotels would sort out the TV tuning - lots of blank free-to-air channels.

Mixed feelings on this hotel. Location is great. Staff helpful but self-checkin took a while. Maybe because it was my first time. Room nice. But the wi-fi in my room was poor. It kept dropping out and I ended up not using it. The TV wasn't very good. Only a very small number of Freeview channels. I've seen better.

Hotel is very modern and in a great location. Breakfast was very hit and miss, with lots of items running out and fozen bread. Staff are lovely, room was nice and large, but water pressure in shower was very poor. Would stay again, but our previous stay was nicer

Fantastic location, great friendly staff. Overall we would stay here again provided we are in the more luxurious rooms. Standard rooms seem a little small. It quite easy to get around everywhere within 10 to 15 minute walk. Televisions need an upgrade to SMART ones, and higher water pressure in the shower would be much better.

Had a lovely one night stay at this hotel. Booked the executive king room and it didn’t disappoint we were on the 17th floor and had an amazing view of parts of the city. The bed was also really comfy & the room was spacious. I’d stay again for sure.

We could open the window but as we were on the 3rd floor the music from local bars was very loud and went on until gone 4am. A very disturbed sleep - hotel was comfortable and clean but probably would not stay here again due to location and noise.

Nice hotel in really central location. View from higher floors is great, but not for those with vertigo! Staff did check before assigning rooms, to be fair.

Air conditioning only works for 2 hours then turns itself off. Was told this is how it’s set for the whole hotel and can’t be changed.

Very poor check in experience. WHY do they provide machines to self check in, but staff come and stand by you watching you do it? It’s so non-personal. I want to be welcomed to a hotel with a smile and a personal check in experience, but no, nothing. I didn’t have any interaction with the staff, I didn’t know where to go to my room, I didn’t have a clue where, or what time breakfast was available. The room itself was fine, very hot when I arrived but air con worked well. Comfy bed and everything else was good. Breakfast tasty and plentiful so no issues there. Just get back to a personal check in!

I had a quick stop over in Manchester for business i had booked and paid via the Hotels.com app. The location of the hotel was great right in the centre of shops and bars so great for a night out. It had a nice bar and restaurant. Checkin was self checkin via a kiosk in the reception. It could have been a good stay but there was an issue i had booked and paid for dinner for two. I had a late lunch so i didnt have the dinnerand informed reception. At checkout i was told i had a Bill on my room for the same dinner i had already prepaid for and didnt have and i had to pay again. They told me to email both proof of payments and this will be refunded. 3 days on and no one has responded to my emails.

Great hotel with friendly staff and good prices

They transferred us to a room that had an exactly the same as the previous room they gave us, but it was at the top floor. We will not have the opportunity to be upgraded (if they call it upgrade) if we didn’t requested and complained. The previous room we had was right beside the elevator, with couple of lights not working in the room and the heater wasn’t working. The room is pretty small too. We stayed there for a night since there is no available room when we asked that night, as they said. One of the hotel breakfast supervisors wasn’t so nice to us. He was rude and was so unprofessional. I asked for a bowl for cereal but just because we came a little bit after 10 am, he was upset and tossed the bowl on me. Then right in front of us while we were having our breakfast, he scolded the server telling her she shouldn’t have accepted more guests. I spoke at the front desk & grateful that they mentioned it to their manager. We appreciated that they apologize to us & gave us a one complimentary high-tea. This hotel had potential to succeed. It’s perfectly situated at the heart of Manchester city. The only downside is their parking. They have a near one owned by the city but the price rate was expensive per day. Other hotels nearby offer a discount to their guests. Also, the attitude of some of their staff needs attention, they’re lack of work ethics will be their down fall. I highly recommend that they give them proper professional customer and management training.

Very comfortable hotel with well appointed rooms which have an above average level of soundproofing. Excellent service from the hotel team. Online check in didn't work for me, charged brwakfast when it was included in the room rate, but the excellent staff on reception sorted it professionally and quickly Definitely recommend this hotel.

When i arrived i was directed to a self service terminal where i was asked to insert all my personal details on a large screen visible to several people stood around me. I also had to use the terminal to check out and had to wait over 10 minutes because of the queue. Then it took over 5 minutes to process the check our. Just get a box on reception you can drop your key card in like other hotels do.

From the moment we checked in the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel had clean, high class standards and was well maintained. The location was great to get in and around Manchester perfectly located for the station, shops, bars and restaurants. The room was very spacious and comfortable I was really impressed and almost wished I had more time to enjoy the hotel as it also had a lovely reception area and bar. We had a great stay overall and had a small issue we raised with Karen the manager who couldn’t do enough to help us and rectify. She was very professional and ensured we had a pleasant stay.

My stay at the Clayton was much like all the other times I’ve stayed here, reliable but with recurring frustrations. The location is excellent, though it comes at the cost of noticeable street noise, rooms on higher floors being quieter & making a big difference. Check-in remains dire, as staff direct you to use a self-service machine, which isn’t ideal if you’re dyslexic or don’t have reading glasses handy, and in my case staff ended up entering the details for me. I’d much prefer the option to check in at a proper desk and speak to a person, and the same goes for check-out; if I’ve got my glasses and the process is straightforward, I don’t mind using a machine, but the Clayton’s system really needs an overhaul. For this stay I paid extra for a higher-floor room, the space was large, spotless, and had one of the most comfortable beds you’ll find in the city: to be fair I’ve never had a bad night’s sleep at the Clayton. The bathroom was bright and pleasant, though it could use more counter space, an updated shower tray, and ideally a handrail for safety. Breakfast, however, is underwhelming, with the hot items lacking flavour and the continental options almost laughable, with squared formed packet ham, packet turkey, and curled up cheese slices. On the plus side, the croissants were excellent, the melon was fresh, and I appreciated the well-laid-out drinks area with dairy-free choices clearly separated. Great bed, can't outrun all the other downsides.

Upon check in they tried to downgrade our room saying none was available, we booked a double single as it was for my husband and 24 year old son. The check in staff asked them to downgrade to a double and share a bed which was not going to happen and why we had booked the double single room. After 10 minutes they finally gave us the room we had booked. The room itself and the hotel were good.

Great location for the City Centre, close to transport and restaurants.

We stayed just one night but loved the location, easy to access from the train station and walkable to the many areas in the city. The hotel is new and clean, the staff were very helpful.

Nice hotel and good value. Good in restaurant was bad. Minestrone soup was just like a pack of frozen veg was dumped in stock. Main course was tasteless Meal fur two was comped ( Trip to local bar for a make up meal ). Few problems as room keep stopped working even though we had paid for late check out. Bill was wrong. Issues were annoying but sorted by helpful staff. Would stay again but with abundance of restaurants in the city I would just stick to breakfast here

The online and self service check in are convenient but too reminscent of the pandemic days and I miss being greeted with a friendly smile and interaction. The hotel is modern and clean and efficient with all the facilities you might need although there was a very bad stain in the carpet in my room which let it down a little. And the water pressure in the taps on the sink was surprisingly weak. The breakfast buffet was a disappointment. At 9:30, there was little or no choice of hot food. No sausages, no fried eggs, a few strands of limp bacon, congealed scrambled eggs and little evidence that the staff were in any hurry to replenish them. Maybe I caught them on a busy day. I'll try again another time.

It's a nice hotel although the food isn't very good. Dine out and you'll have a good stay. I also wish they would allow tabs at the bar instead of having a wallet full of receipts! Annoying!

Most of the breakfast items were cold

Hotel was really nice and bedroom and service on reception was great. The only negative feedback would be regarding the breakfast; the dining area stops serving breakfast at 11:00am, but at 10:15am most of the hot food had gone and was not being replaced; breakfast selection was very poor and could not see any fresh fruit or any continental options either - very dissapointed with the breakfast and would not book breakfast inclusive again as there are so many coffee shops nearby.
