Arrived was treated by friendly staff, 2 ad 2 kids got a beautiful big room with balcony so spacious. All staff were great. We didn’t arrive till 6 so we know kids couldn’t go to pool as they would have to be out by 7, but this morning went down at 9.45 kids in pool 1 min to be told they could not be in there, there was a baby class at other end and contamination with nappies. I asked why was there no notification about this for to be shown a sign that was left on a still behind the counter stating something else until it was turned around. Residents need to be notified about those time at check in. Had to upset boys leaving , it was his confirmation all he want was pool and kfc which was beside. I have to say when I talked to receptionist this morning she straight away offered me a late check out so kids could use pool but we had arrangements made to meet family. I would definitely go back as we are planning to do for our child’s communion in 4 weeks but will make sure of those pool times so everyone is happy

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds amazing so comfortable and room very spacious. Pool smaller than expected. Handy location to town centre. Overall very comfortable stay.

Rooms were fantastic, beds were exceptionally comfortable. Food was fantastic , breakfast is great - really good selection I only have 1 complaint.. the pool area is very tired. it’s not like the pictures. It’s a small pool for size of hotel and there are only hard plastic chairs around it.

Nice hotel, good food at the bar, but the noise from the highway was very loud in our room. The pool was closed at 7:00 pm for children (the sun goes down at 10:30) when we arrived from a long day on the road. This was really disappointing since we had reserved at this hotel for the pool facility. Having known this, we would have reserved a hotel downtown. Our children are 9 and 13. They could have made a special for us.

Das Zimmer war sehr schön und groß, mit kleinem Balkon und Fenster zum öffnen. Das Bad und der zusätzliche Raum für das Gepäck und die Ausstattung (z.B. mit kleinen Kühlschrank) hat uns auch gut gefallen. Die Auswahl beim Frühstücksbuffet war gut. Die Brotauswahl hätte besser sein können und das Rührei war leider sehr salzig. Schade fanden wir, dass es in der Dusche keine separate Handbrause gab.Den Pool fanden wir etwas zu stark gechlort und man musste eine Bademütze tragen/kaufen.

I stayed here on two separate occasions when I was in Galway for work. On the first occasion staff were friendly in the main but the food was not good. While the portion of fish was quite big, the batter was soggy and the portion of chips was insufficient in comparison. The breakfast was very dry. On the second occasion, the room carpet was very badly stained. I was given a different room which I appreciated, but the mugs were chipped, the grouting on the bathroom floor was missing in parts and badly repaired in others. I again asked for my meal on a tray, to take to my room, but had an aluminium take-away box plonked in front of me, with no cutlery or anything else. I had to ask for a plate, cutlery and a tray, which I duly got but the tray had a lot of detritis on it. Mark and Angelina were great, very helpful and sympathetic, offering to address the issues. Breakfast was better on this occasion, but overall the experience was grim, and I won't be back. This was not a 4* service, it really needs to up its game to be anywhere near the Dublin Clayton. One other thing, I had left something behind on the first occasion, the website does not provide the direct dial number for their hotels, I had to use a generic email and a chat bot, the issue was not resolved in this way. I got the direct dial number from the email confirming my second booking and Angelina did resolve the issue and found my item, which was much appreciated.

Die Zimmer sind leider sehr schmutzig. Das Zimmer Inventar ist komplett veraltet und schon abgeschossen und beschädigt. Der Teppich und die Tische hatte sehr viele Flecken und die Fliesen im Bad waren teilweise gesprungen.

Dirty sheets, worn room with ripped carpets and broken curtains. Awful air freshener pumped out into the bedrooms that gave us all headaches. Average breakfast. Not worth the money.

This hotel looks great outside and common areas we saw are well kept. However, for us it ended there. 1. We didn't like that it was far away from the areas of Galway we wanted to see (Eyre square, Quay street, etc.) We had to use the local bus to ride into those areas which took about 40 minutes including the wait time & drive. 2. Our room was well worn and felt dirty. 3. Using the bath tub was a chore just to reach in to use the stop for the water due to the placement of the shower glass. 4. NO bathroom fan meant that basically our room was steamed up and clammy the two days/nights we stayed there. 5. When we checked in and got to our room, the bed looked messy like someone had a nap on top of it which made me uneasy as to whether or not the bedding was changed. 6. The bathtub had pubic hair and wasn't well cleaned. I scrubbed the tub before using it! 7.The small trash can in our bathroom was one with a lid but when we stepped on it to raise the top, it didn't work, therefore very time we had garbage to throw out, we had to reach down and raise the lid. 8. We paid a lot of money for 2 nights stay here ($850.00 CAD) and it was not worth that!! We traveled with two other couples and they have had negative experiences as well but will leave it to them to write reviews.

Nice staff and great parking options which was a perk as we rented a car! Loud at times (noise from cars passing by and others in the hotel (others were not loud, there just must be very little sound proofing). Lots of noticeable damage and lack of cleanliness noted. Tiles missing grout in bathroom and spills on the furniture/walls not wiped.

No air conditioning and it was advertised, no fridge in room , dirty sheets blankets , bathrooms dirty, loose tiles in bathroom , very dusty room housekeeping came into our room numerous times without asking open door .. food was terrible.

First room we went to, single bed was broken and smeared poo on outside of the toilet bowl. Second room had main bed was at a slant so husband found it very uncomfortable. Broken tile on the bathroom floor with sharp edge. Daughter hurt her foot. People in neighbour room locked their kids out of room and let them scream and play out in the hall until 11pm. Disturbing our daughter who was sleeping. Banging walls and being very disruptive.

Worst stay at a hotel. Dirty dirty dirty. Lobby was dirty, lights in the hall way on the way to the room we're out and our room smelled so bad. Worst stay. The pictures are not the same.

very nice hotel, great staff. However, the rooms on the north side of the hotel beside the main road are very noisy. It makes these rooms very uncomfortable, like sitting on the roadside. Better soundproofing on those rooms would make this such a better hotel.
very nice hotel, great staff. However, the rooms on the north side of the hotel beside the main road are very noisy. It makes these rooms very uncomfortable, like sitting on the roadside. Better soundproofing on those rooms would make this such a better hotel.

As a hotel manager I appreciate the difficulties with staffing Reception team friendly and polite The bar and restaurant was busy at 8.30pm last night but sadly staff didn’t have much direction. I had to wait approximately 15-20 minutes to order a drink and food. Food was disappointing. I am very impressed with this hotel ! My room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The staff throughout this hotel are exceptionally helpful and pleasant which gives practical expression to the concept of "Irish Hospitality." Nathan and Lorraine are outstanding breakfast hosts! Lorraine is very attentive to the requirements of every guest during the breakfast service. She is proactive and should be commended for the value she brings to the business of the hotel. Shanna and Mia provide prompt and obliging service in the Bistro which makes the dining experience most enjoyable. Zeo provides exemplary room service. The receptionist who greeted me on arrival provided an unbeatable welcome! It would be nice if the check in time could be amended to 3pm instead of 4pm which is customary in most hotels. I have never stayed at a Clayton Hotel before but based on this experience, I shall be considering staying in their UK hotels.

For a family stay, expecting a comfortable experience, but unfortunately, we were left disappointed. Firstly, we were not informed in advance that the main restaurant would be closed due to a wedding function. Only the bistro was available, and even that was partially closed off for the same event. We ended up having to stay in the room as there was no proper dining space or any area for the kids to relax or eat comfortably. Upon arrival, the reception staff did not provide any information about the restaurant closure or the event. Later, we received a call from reception asking us to reduce noise in the room, but given there were no available family-friendly spaces elsewhere, we had no choice. The room itself was below expectations: a bulb was fused, there were spider webs in the shower, and the room had clearly not been vacuumed properly. This added to the overall sense of neglect. Most of the staff, particularly in the restaurant, lacked basic hospitality—no greetings or engagement. The Clayton Hotel is a great property and a €15-20 cab ride from downtown (waterfront) area of Galway. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean and fresh.

Great property and lots of parking. The facility was great. We had a huge room. Only drawback was the distance to central Galway. It was about 10 miles away from downtown. The person who checked us in was able to tell us what bus to take (which picks you up liberally right outside the hotel) and that was an easy ride but the traffic was heavy so it took 40 min to go down at rush hour but about 15 min return on the bus later after rush hour had passed.

The Clayton is a nice property. For visitors to Galway It's a bit out if the way, about a 15 minute drive from Shop street. There's not much to see or do close to the hotel, nor are there very many restaurants close. The hotel has a nice pool & the rooms were clean & modern.

This hotel is literally at a busy crossroads, but that makes it very convenient to go to other sites in the area without having to drive through downtown Galway, which has tons of traffic. We really loved the extensive parking lot, and the breakfast at the hotel was wonderful. There was lots of natural light in the room. The beds were very comfortable and had wonderful linens. The room was very quiet. The staff was kind and helpful.

Hicimos cola para cenar cinco minutos antes de las 9, junto con otras personas. De forma indisimulada nos ignoraron varios minutos y, a las nueve en punto, se acercó la encargada para decirnos que, al ser las nueve, ya no nos podían atender. En los alrededores los restaurantes estaban cerrados. Fue un detalle feo. Todo lo demás bien, hotel nuevo, limpio, desayuno de calidad y amables en recepción.

I stayed here on two separate occasions when I was in Galway for work. On the first occasion staff were friendly in the main but the food was not good. While the portion of fish was quite big, the batter was soggy and the portion of chips was insufficient in comparison. The breakfast was very dry. On the second occasion, the room carpet was very badly stained. I was given a different room which I appreciated, but the mugs were chipped, the grouting on the bathroom floor was missing in parts and badly repaired in others. I again asked for my meal on a tray, to take to my room, but had an aluminium take-away box plonked in front of me, with no cutlery or anything else. I had to ask for a plate, cutlery and a tray, which I duly got but the tray had a lot of detritis on it. Mark and Angelina were great, very helpful and sympathetic, offering to address the issues. Breakfast was better on this occasion, but overall the experience was grim, and I won't be back. This was not a 4* service, it really needs to up its game to be anywhere near the Dublin Clayton. One other thing, I had left something behind on the first occasion, the website does not provide the direct dial number for their hotels, I had to use a generic email and a chat bot, the issue was not resolved in this way. I got the direct dial number from the email confirming my second booking and Angelina did resolve the issue and found my item, which was much appreciated.

Rooms were fantastic, beds were exceptionally comfortable. Food was fantastic , breakfast is great - really good selection I only have 1 complaint.. the pool area is very tired. it’s not like the pictures. It’s a small pool for size of hotel and there are only hard plastic chairs around it.

Overall experience was good. Good quality food and friendly staff in the restaurant. Enjoyed breakfast and value for money at £12. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable and cleaning was brilliant. Overall a great stay! Also a great location.

Recently stayed there for 2 nights. The hotel is obviously going through a transition at the moment and nothing but hammering and drilling all day. We were on 4th floor and the noise from the road at night was excessive as the door to the balcony lets the noise in badly. When we arrived there was no sink stopper in the bathroom sink. I asked reception and they said the would sort it but the never do.Also very bad smell in the bathroom.Overall not the best experience.
