The Historic Inn at Oakdene

This has become our favorite place to stay in Stauton. The house feels like an escape to another life, as a hotel should be. Not to mention, it’s very walkable to downtown, and the walk gives you an opportunity to enjoy the historic neighborhood.

We had an amazing time. We’re from North Central, West Virginia and I have mobility issues. We met my brother and his wife from the Manassas area for an evening of friendship. We stayed in the beautiful Queen Anne Suite on the first floor while they stayed on the third floor in the Governor’s Suite. We sat outside around the gas fire pit, drinking wine talking and my brother and I smoked cigars. When it became late, we moved inside to the lobby and finished our evening. In the morning we checked out which is extremely easy and went to the local restaurant “Kathy’s,” for breakfast. The servings are enormous so bring your appetite. We finished off our visit by driving twenty miles North on I-81 to Buc-ee’s. None of us have ever been to a Buc-ee’s, so that was a real pleasure. Lastly my brother and his wife ate dinner early before we arrived. They had dinner at the “Mill Street Grill.” He told me that he had “Trout stuffed with crab meat.” He said that they remove every single bone from the trout! He was amazed by the atmosphere and the food. We’ll be returning in the Spring both families but not for one night but for three. There are too many great restaurants and beautiful architecture to see in Staunton. Not to mention staying in the stunning “Historic Inn at Oakdene.”

What a beautiful hotel and so centrally located! The room and bathroom were beautiful. We will definitely return in the fall!

The grounds were well maintained as was the rooms and common areas. It felt very impersonal without direct contact with a person.
