I didn’t like pool and hot tube, both too dirty to use

A great minbreak from Brisbane. Perfect location. Handy bar downstairs. Parking is expensive ($25 per night). They charged me, but comped my friend!

So convenient for shops, dining and the beach. Lovely pool and hot tub. Bar staff lovely and housekeepers great!

The Island exceeded all my expectations. The room was super big, was surprised to see it had a large balcony with chairs to hang out, free water bottles and chips each day. Location was near all the action but about a block away so quieter. And had a nice pool, restaurant, and lounge with billiards. Loved the stay.

The Rooms at the Island are fantastic - spacious and funky! Perfect for 2 adults and our 2 Teenagers. The facilities here are good but they cater to a young crowd. We were unable to get a seat by the pool all afternoon due to Schoolie guests.

Our twin suit was great! Very comfortable beds and spacious layout. The hot tub was chilly and when I spoke to the front desk the manager said it was in fine working order so perhaps we were mistaken. Our vehicle did not fit in the parking but the parking garage around the corner was great and cheaper. Overall great room but pool and hot tub require maintenance.

Room and building is old, and I wouldn’t mind it if it was clean - it was not. Pool and hot tub is old and filthy. Constant noise from the bar music and road noise as others had mentioned. Location is good for shopping, dining, and beach. The property has a motel feeling. Parking charge is $25AUD/day.

Great design but room cleaning could do with a bit more focus

There was dirty tissues on the bathroom floor and bathroom wasn’t very clean overall, shower cap over smoke detector rendering it useless, awful smelling bedding with a sweat/BO stench making me question if they were changed after the previous guest and the balcony doors don’t lock leaving me feeling very unsafe , overall very unclean and unsafe room.

Right in the heart of Surfer’s Paradise. Clean, spacious room, modern bathroom and layout. Nice size balcony. Well priced. Parked in the public carpark behind the hotel for a good price. Will definitely consider staying again. Just waiting to get my bond back.

Orderded room service twice, food was delivered in a takeaway chinese container. Plates and cuttlery was not provided. Food took over an hr to arrive, we also ordered 2 drinks that took 45 mins. Bathroom had mould near the shower. Stains on the white bedding ( pink stains)

Filthy bathroom, toilet dirty, lifts filthy. Whole place needs renovating. Probably the worst hotel i have ever stayed at.

We had a mixed experience at The Island Gold Coast. The first impressions weren’t great. Whilst the reception area was clean and the receptionist very smart and helpful, the decor was tired and outdated. The exterior looked more like a shabby 2-star. After a swift check-in we took the lift to our floor. The lift was disgusting - the doors were scratched and dirty, as was the interior of the lift, and the floor was damaged and dirty. At our floor the corridor was unpleasant with old single glazed windows and glue-down carpet tiles. The hotel room was also a mix - the bed was comfortable and the bedding clean. Some of the furniture was modern and there were good toiletries and coffee/tea provided. However, the carpet tiles again looked and felt unclean, the shower handle was broken, the fridge appeared to be very old, the balcony doors were loose and let outside noise into the room. Overall, we didn’t enjoy our stay here. We thought it was very over-priced and overrated.

Good location, good sized room and great size kitchen. Shower drainage wasn’t good (water overflowed out of shower into main bathroom). Lifts and hallways quite dirty.

Room very spacious, always clean. Only negative point, toilet door can’t be locked.

Good property in Surfer's paradise. Not too expensive. Wifi wasn't working in the room but they reset the router which fixed it.

The room was modern, spacious and aesthetic. Lots was going on great atmosphere, was a little noisy until about 10:30pm. But that’s ok we all had fun. Would recommend, great location can walk everywhere. Will be back 😜

Comfortable stay, only one lift working and would beep and not move when full which was a nuisance. Nice touch providing bottled water and some complimentary snacks. Quite noisy with the music till very late at night. The pool is very deep so overall not a child friendly place.

Clean room, great size for families. Excellent location.

The hotel was stylish and overall a nice stay. However, it appeared to still be in its infancy phase. The air conditioning was great but leaked into the TV and desk. As a result, the TV did not work. The WiFi did not work but they had someone coming to fix the problem. I think with time it will be a great place.

Whilst this is a great location, I couldn't recommend staying here due to the noise. The music and base from the rooftop bar makes it impossible to sleep well, unless you are going to be out late each night I would stay somewhere else

Aircon didn't work, phone to call resection didn't work, very noisy hotel because of the bar below..

The room was spacious and newly renovated, the location was convenient, within walking distance to all the shops and the beach, nice pub downstairs. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only downside is that it can be noisy till midnight, but that has to be expected from the location, so I'm still giving it 5 stars.

Great location, great rooms with view

I arrive from Brisbane going in gold coast. when i arrive in hotel in which i had a booking for 3 nights and already paid using my card. The staff did not allow me to check in until I had the money on my card for the bond: I showed the stuff that I have deposited money on my card, but it will take few hours before it appears and then offer her if I can use cash for the bond, But she says she can’t allow me to check in until the money appears on my account. I just find it really inconvenience because you can’t assume everyone especially the elderly to use card, There are still some people who are using cash to cash basis. I’m wondering if the money appears on my card the day after it means ill be waiting for few hours . the roo is paid already and they wont allow me to check in because of the bond? other hotels considered cash for the bond.. so I find it really, really inconsiderate

Our stay was immaculate. The front reception attendant, Tia, was so friendly and helpful during the duration of our stay. The room was stylish and clean. We did not want to check out, it was a fantastic stay 10/10

Entrance and parking should be described for easy check in. Staff were lovely however it's concerning that other people experienced checking into rooms that had not been cleaned and serviced prior to check-in like we did. Staff were attentive and lovely and dealt with this quickly and professionally.

Booked on a Monday for a work trip Thursday that week, plans got changed on Tuesday so rang to see if I could push the booking by a week and they said no because it wasn't within the 7 day cancellation period despite only booking less than 24 hours earlier. Kept entire amount of money paid, not just a percentage. Money gone from my small business who had to change plans, would not recommend after this.

*Disappointing Stay – Poor Service and Hygiene Issues** I recently stayed at this hotel, and it was one of the most unpleasant experiences I’ve ever had. On the first night, I discovered a lizard in the bathroom. When I called the receptionist at 12 am for assistance, I was met with an unprofessional and unhelpful response. Instead of addressing the issue, he casually told me to take the lizard and throw it out of the balcony myself, offering no apology and claiming there was nothing he could do at that time. After a sleepless night, I complained the next morning and requested to be moved to another room, which the morning receptionist agreed to. However, the new room wasn’t much better – there were ants on the table for the entire week, and the issue was never addressed despite bringing it to their attention. The lack of cleanliness and the dismissive attitude of the staff ruined what should have been a relaxing holiday. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable and hygienic stay.

We initially were staying in a Deluxe King room, which was neat, tidy, cozy, and clean. The Island gave directions for parking (across tram railway and in the side alley) and reception was easy to find, and service was very friendly and professional. There was a technical issue with the toilet in this room, which can happen anywhere at any time, and after speaking with reception, we were upgraded to the King Suite room free of charge (that's really great service, they could have easily put us in a room of the same time, but upgraded us instead for the inconvenience). The King Suite was spacious, clean, modern, and a bigger version of the Deluxe King room, with a complete kitchennette, bathroom etc, and we had the views we were hoping to get. All round, we had a fantastic stay, and they even let us leave the car in the carpark a little bit longer after check out so we could go do some shopping and get some food before coming back home, which another hotel would not allow us to do without charging us $30, so it was really nice and very professional for The Island to do this for us. All round, we rate this above anything else we have stayed at so far. Cheap prices, amazing rooms, amazing service, safe area, nice facilities...all round, a gem in the heart of Surfers. We will absolutely be staying here again, 10/10. Thank you to the amazing staff who work here who helped make this place even more awesome, you rock!

The service was amazing!! Check-in was so easy & getting a free drink card at the downstairs bar was the best. The staff were pleasant & accomodating. There was complimentary water bottles in the fridge & same with the chips. The bed was comfortable, but there was a party which was a bit loud but it didn't go all night so as a light sleeper I was alright.

Loved the proximity to great shopping, not far from all of the action. Very close to a G link stop.

Checked in here for 1 night and liked it so much, we booked for a 2nd night! Really fantastic hotel - decor in reception area lovely and bar and restaurant superb - especially roof top area! Great vibes. Food was awesome - we ate at their restaurant (Goldies) for both evenings! Can really recommend the steak but to be honest, everything that came out looked and smelt amazing! Staff went out of there way to chat to us and give us recommends on what to do / where to see etc. Location is ideal - one block back from the sea/beach but very central to everything and walkable to everywhere! Would highly recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay here again if we returned!

Beautiful room - lots of space. Very clean room and bathroom. Friendly staff at the reception. Breakfast a bit of a disappointment - no selection of fresh fruit, no fresh juices, not a lot of low fat og vegetarian options - lots of bacon and meat options.

My only issues were: parking on one night - the car park was full, and this took me 20 minutes to be able to park when I had already paid for parking, and the restaurant gave my pizza to another table, even though it was a very unique order - no cheese/no dairy, and I was left waiting for over an hour for food. Other than that - I had a great time and enjoyed the hotel.

Lovely room and excellent service. It was a nice surprise to receive a complementary mimosa on arrival. There was also a computer error with our checkout time but the staff honoured the late check out which was very kind. The bar and restaurant was also awesome (the cocktails are delicious!!!). The only thing that wasn’t exemplary was the additional fees for parking when the public parking lot directly nearby was cheaper, but only a minor inconvenience. Everything was fantastic.

Great location and bar/restaurant. Rooms are nice. Can be a tad noisy and the hallways are dingy.

Super cute lovely little boutique hotel. Easy to get to right in the middle of the Paradise shops Cavill street and the beach. Pool is nice with poolside bar and snack service. The rooftop entertainment and bar from Thursday-Saturday is on the first floor rooftop of the building not top floor. It faces the balconies and can be a bit noisy for those who prefer quiet bit the dj shut it down at 10:30PM on Thursday which was plenty early. Awesome Kevin Murphy toiletries were a bonus!
